The governments of the Punjab and Sindh provinces in Pakistan have called for blocking the cellphones for unvaccinated people, blaming the them for a rise in Covid-19 cases. In Denmark, KFC refused to allow unvaccinated access to their establishment.
“At first this was only a proposal, but people have been very hesitant in getting vaccinated so the decision was made,” a spokesman for the Punjab Primary Health department told AFP in June.
Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasi Hussain Shah told the New York Timesthat the government wanted to force people to get the jab. The Sindh government has even stopped paying unvaccinated government workers.
“It will be hard for me if I can’t use my phone, but I am very scared about the vaccine,” a Pakistani told France24.com earlier. Many believe that the vaccinated could die in the coming months. “I have heard that people, after getting the coronavirus jab, will die within the two years […] It is the reason that in our extended family of at least 25 people, no one is willing to vaccinate themselves.”
In Denmark, an unvaccinated customer was thrown out of a KFC fast-food restaurant this week. A sign in Danish stated that only customers with a health passport and ID could eat inside. Users on Twitter pointed out that it was the same in Ireland and several regions in Spain, including Andalusia.
But as mainstream German news outlet Die Welt acknowledged, people who are fully vaccinated can carry the same viral load as the unvaccinated. This is according to a study on a Coronavirus outbreak in Massachusetts, where at the end of May all Corona restrictions were lifted.
In Provincetown – a tourist resort in the district with the highest vaccination rate in the state of Massachusetts – more than 900 Coronavirus cases were registered after the US National Day on July 4. About three-quarters of them were people who had been fully vaccinated, write the authors of the study.
Based on this study, the CDC, which is responsible for the entire United States, recommended a return to the obligation to wear masks in indoor spaces for all, while maintaning that “vaccines work”.
