Irfan Peci uncovers: Although they claim that it is only a Bosnian cultural association, the “Dzemat Vöcklabruck” is building a huge mosque. In the future, Muslims from Upper Austria are to be sworn in to “Allah’s” will. Peci’s investigative report from the “Dzemat Vöcklabruck” paints an alarming picture of the Bosnian-Islamic self-conception prevailing there. Because it would be to the Muslims’ own disadvantage to show violence at the moment, they hold back.But they are preparing for better times, for an Islamic state with an Islamic army, following the example of the Prophet Mohammed.
It makes no difference to them whether they live in Bosnia, in Saudi Arabia or in Austria, as the guest preacher at the “Dzemat Vöcklabruck” explains: “This is Allah’s earth!” Muhammad’s repression is exemplified in the mosque congregation. “When can we finally fight back?”, Muhammad’s companions would have asked. But as Irfan Peci analyses the guest speaker’s words, Muslims would first have to wait. Wait until they deliver their strikes. The guest preacher indicates this with slap gestures. Irfan Peci explains that it is a matter of conveying to the outside world something different from what one plans to do oneself. And the plans, according to Peci, are about jihad – the holy Islamic war.
First you have to improve yourself before you change the system, the Bosnian Muslim wisely explains to his believers: “First ask yourself if you have Islamised and disciplined yourself and your family! After that, we’ll see… This is how the Prophet taught and re-educated his companions.” At present, Bosnian Muslims are still in the Mecca stage, as Peci explains. This is followed by the Medina stage.
The preacher explains this stage using the example of Mohammed: only then will an Islamic state, an Islamic government, an Islamic army and an Islamic society be established.
Yet there are already 1.7 billion Muslims, the guest preacher explains. Mohammed only needed 1,500 to found an entire state, he rebukes the devotees in Vöcklabruck: “What is wrong with you?
Peci explains that his investigative research shows what understanding of Islam the community in Vöcklabruck has. And how much the perception of, for example, Green, Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) and Red regional politics of the “dear, Bosnian Muslims” deviates from the self-conception discussed by the community internally.
The “Dzemat Vöcklabruck” consciously presents itself to the outside world as liberal Muslims. But in the community’s self-conception, according to Peci, they adhere to a “hardcore Islam”. Those who do not pray are expelled from the Muslim community, they posted on their Facebook page in Bosnian, as Irfan Peci explains. Besides religious ideas, the “Dzemat Vöcklabruck” also keeps its followers informed about the construction of the mosque. A huge dome will adorn the building, as the construction plans show.

The Muslims proudly present themselves on Facebook – The construction work for the new Grand Mosque has already begun: “Allahu akbar, praise be to Allah who has made this possible for us. Preparations for the start of construction of the mosque, Allah willing. We will all participate in the start of the construction of the mosque, Allah willing.” So for them, it is not local politics that made the building project possible, but Allah. Will the people of Vöcklabruck see it that way too?

Together with “Alif”, a “nationalist, fundamentalist” (according to provincial police director Andreas Pilsl) association, “Dzemat Vöcklabruck” organises joint evenings. According to Peci, “Alif” is close to the Islamist movement “Milli Görus”. And the sermons of an imam of “Dzemat Vöcklabruck” were also quite radical: Whoever is not a devout Muslim will go to hell. Peci believes that the mosque community tends to hide this view from its “friends” in the Greens, Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) and the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP). Last but not least, Dzemat Vöcklabruck worships Bosnian military commanders as martyrs, as Irfan Peci explains in his video.
