Grace and Barnaby, both 19 years old, students and sports talents, among the victims of the rampage in Nottingham – Nottingham Police used the image of an arrested white person to illustrate a tweet about the arrest of a “black person with dreadlocks”

Grace Kumar, 19, was a rising field hockey star who played in England’s U16 and U18 competitions.

Barnaby Webber †

Barnaby’s grief-stricken father David, 51, said only that “it wasn’t the right time” when he was approached by journalists at the family home before other family members arrived with flowers.

Mr. Webber, head of an IT consulting firm, called one of his son’s roommates in Nottingham to inform him of the tragedy.

Barnaby and the young woman killed next to him were both students at the University of Nottingham.

A student from the same hall of residence said, “Barnaby was a friend of mine, he was on his way home from a nightclub, as we all are, but they had bad luck, they were only five minutes away from their home and were stabbed to death by a stranger.”

The Webber family lives in a large four-bedroom house.

Barnaby had returned from Nottingham last month to play cricket for a local club, Bishops Hull. He had also played in an indoor league for that club.

School reports from Taunton show that he was also a talented field hockey player.

Nottingham Police used the image of an arrested white person to illustrate a tweet about the arrest of a “black person with dreadlocks” (It must be an attack by “white supremacists”).
