While the couple’s young children (2, 6) were sleeping next door, family father Muhammet Y. (34) allegedly stabbed his wife (31) several times with a knife in their bedroom in Wuppertal on Tuesday evening. A homicide squad is investigating.
At around 10 pm, the mother of two had called 911 herself. According to the police and the public prosecutor’s office, she had been the victim of a knife attack in her flat. She had to undergo emergency surgery in the evening and suffers from numerous stab wounds and is still in serious critical condition.
The husband had fled into the street, was discovered near the residence in Kruppstraße and arrested.
The public prosecutor’s office applied for an arrest warrant against the father. A judge sent him to custody on Wednesday for attempted manslaughter. The couple has been married for ten years. The motive is still unclear.
Her parents, who live in the same house, are now taking care of the grandchildren. The victim’s father told the newspaper BILD: “I can’t explain it, they were still with us one and a half hours before, everything was fine.
