Six months after a murderous attack on a man in Stolberg, pleadings and presumably the verdict are scheduled for Wednesday (9 a.m.) in the trial at the Aachen Regional Court.

A 21-year-old German with Iraqi roots is accused of being the alleged knifeman. He allegedly attacked his victim, who is of Turkish origin, because his family was said to be on a poster of the AfD party for the local elections.

The accused is said to have posted the photo on social media with the words ” denier of God”. He is classified as a dangerous person by the State Criminal Police Office.

The knife attack is said to have been aimed at a relative of the person shown on the AfD poster. The accused allegedly shouted “Allahu akbar” (“God is great”). The call is also used by the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS). He is also alleged to have posted an IS symbol on the internet. The prosecution is being brought by the General Public Prosecutor’s Office in Düsseldorf. The 21-year-old is accused of two knife attacks. As he was partly still under 21 years of age, he is being tried in a juvenile court. He is in custody.
