Germany: Greens search for neo-Nazi – and find a German-Iranian!

The Greens came badly unstuck with their clumsy attempt to ascribe a racist motive to a dramatic attack on a playground in Dortmund.
This is what happened:

On May 9, a man threw a burning beer bottle at two families in a playground in the Nordstadt district of Dortmund. Police officers stopped him with gunshots. Although an expert concluded that the suspect was psychotic, the case was anything but settled for several left-green ” campaign alliances”:

Because Dortmund’s Nordstadt is a socially deprived area with a large number of migrants, the perpetrator must have been a neo-Nazi, they thought. Reflexively, the Greens made a report for the state parliament’s interior committee. The significant title:

“Minors and women as victims of right-wing extremist, racist, anti-Semitic violence.” But reality put a punch line which the fighters for a diverse world had not reckoned with:

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the perpetrator was namely a “German national of Iranian origin” who “mainly hangs out in a group of people with a migration background”. Crucial:

“A right-wing attitude is vehemently rejected by friends and family members”. Markus Wagner, chair of the AfD parliamentary group in North Rhine-Westphalia, comments:

“Once again the Greens are conspicuous by ideologically motivated prejudgement. The Greens falsely make the mothers and children in the playground in Dortmund victims of right-wing extremist violence. And only because it fits their Greens agenda. They are doing what they accuse others of doing: They instrumentalise the victims.”
