Are there 200 Islamists in Thuringia? The chairman of the Parliamentary Control Commission, Raymond Walk (60, Christian Democratic Union), presented the two-year report on Thursday.
Up to 200 Islamists, 135 of them Salafists, could be in the state. “The threat from Islamist terrorism continues to be assessed as high,” Walk said. However, there are hardly any established structures, rather loose networks or individual perpetrators.
As Walk says, “The eleven established mosque associations in Thuringia no longer play a major role. Instead, much of the activity is increasingly taking place in private and in secret.
