Germany: Act of revenge after bathing accident in the river Elbe – Turk stabs the friend of the missing person

Dramatic events following the bathing accident on Hamburg’s Elbe beach in the district of Blankenese.

After 15-year-old Turk Selcin from the Harburg district drowned in the Elbe on Friday evening and has been missing since then, the brother (19) has now attacked a friend (16) of the victim with a knife – apparently out of anger and revenge!

The 16-year-old friend was critically injured in the knife attack in the Harburg district. The victim was also at risk in the bathing accident, but could be rescued.

The situation in retrospect: On Friday evening at around 7 p.m., Selcin and his 15-year-old friend were in the water on the Falkenstein bank in the river Elbe. In midsummer temperatures of 35 degrees, the two wanted to cool off in the water. But in doing so, they apparently underestimated the dangerous water currents of the river: about 25 metres from the beach, they could no longer stay afloat. They screamed and panicked.

While one teenager could be rescued by the police who arrived, the second teenager has been missing ever since.

On Saturday afternoon, the bathing accident apparently escalated further. In the Harburg district, at Kalischerplatz square in the Phoenix quarter, the surviving boy was attacked with a knife by the brother of the missing boy. Apparently a targeted act of revenge!

The 19-year-old rammed a knife into the boy’s back several times. The boy collapsed with life-threatening injuries and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance.

The 19-year-old was arrested a few hours later in a flat near the crime scene. He is to be brought before a magistrate on Sunday.
