Germany: A quarter of the Islamist dangerous persons apply for asylum

Among the persons registered at the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf) are hundreds of Islamist dangerous persons or so-called relevant persons. The Federal Ministry of the Interior counted 463 such immigrants as of the end of March this year, according to an enquiry by the AfD parliamentary group in the Bundestag, which is available to the weekly newspaper JUNGEN FREIHEIT. 264 of them have applied for asylum.

As of April 6, there were 332 dangerous persons and 471 relevant persons in the category “religious ideology” from the politically motivated crime statistics in Germany. Endangered persons are considered to have committed a serious or subversive crime at any time, while security authorities designate as “relevant” those persons who have a leadership role or the function of a supporter or actor within a terrorist or extremist group.

The Federal Ministry of the Interior could not give any information on the question of how many “extremist Islamists” have a citizenship other than German. At the beginning of April, according to the knowledge of the Federal Criminal Police Office, 101 corresponding dangerous persons and 22 relevant persons were in custody in Germany.

The Federal Government continues to classify the threat level for an Islamist terrorist attack as high. “Germany continues to be in the immediate target spectrum of international terrorist organisations. A continuing high risk of jihadist-motivated acts of violence is to be expected,” the statement reads.

AfD interior politician Martin Hess blames the “total failure of the federal government in migration policy”. “More than 40 percent of the dangerous and relevant persons are non-German, almost a quarter are asylum immigrants. And German nationals with a migration background are not even recorded separately,” Hess told the JUNGE FREIHEIT.

In order to significantly reduce the danger of terrorism, consistent deportations and the denaturalisation of corresponding persons with dual citizenship are necessary. “Those who cannot be deported because they only have German citizenship must be placed in long-term custody. To stop the influx of further terrorists, the borders must be effectively protected.”
