German head of teachers’ association warns against Islamism in schools and complains about the trivialisation of Islamist pupils by German school authorities

The head of the teachers’ association, Hans-Peter Meidinger, is sounding the alarm about Islamist incidents at schools. “Especially in metropolitan regions with increased rather fundamentalist Muslim populations, such incidents are becoming more frequent,” Meidinger told the “Bild” newspaper today (Friday).Following the attack on the French teacher Samuel Paty, who was beheaded by a radical Muslim in October, it was mainly hotspot school teachers who had reported “Islamist-motivated hostility” and complained of “a lack of support from the authorities and school administrators”.

Occurrences like the one in Hamburg, where pupils defended the Islamist terror in France, are “not isolated cases”, warned the head of the teachers’ association. Instead of clearly condemning the Islamist incidents, the Hamburg school authorities, when asked, played them down as “emotional upset”, the newspaper reports. The students allegedly “defended the murder of the teacher in France for religious conviction in the emotional situation”.
