German government sweeps immigration problem under the rug

More than 1,500 illegal migrants are arriving in Germany every day, and border guards are only picking up one in three of them, the deputy chairman of the German Police Union, Manuel Ostermann, revealed.

This means that in September alone, around 40,000 asylum seekers may have entered Germany. Ukrainians are not counted in these statistics, and most arrivals are adult males coming from Afghanistan, Syria, and North Africa.

The October issue of the ministry of the interior’s monthly migration analysis, circulated among police personnel, has failed to appear, leading German news portal Junge Freiheit to believe the traffic light coalition, and in particular Minister of Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD), wants to sweep the problem under the rug.

Faeser denies concealing the report, saying that it would continue to be handed out to the directorates of the Federal Police. According to Ostermann, that is an outright lie.

“That is simply not true,” he told the Bild newspaper. Germany is “destination country number one,” he said. In addition to the Balkan route, which ends in Bavaria and Saxony via Slovenia, Austria, and the Czech Republic, the situation at the border with Switzerland continues to worsen, with most migrants heading for Germany simply waved through.

Municipalities cannot handle more migrants

For the municipalities, which have already taken in almost 1 million Ukrainians this year, this is bad news. They have been warning of a collapse of the system for weeks. Cottbus, for example, recently imposed an admission ban and is not alone in doing so. Even Berlin, where the governing parties of the SPD, the Greens, and the Left Party regularly emphasize that they are happy to take in more asylum seekers, is sounding the alarm. The capacities are “meanwhile almost exhausted,” complained Berlin Mayor Franziska Giffey.

But who is actually coming to Germany? While mainly women and children come from Ukraine, the situation is quite different for asylum seekers from the primary countries of origin.

Mainly young men from Islamic states come

According to the report “Potentials of Asylum Seekers: Analysis of “SoKo” Social Structure Data” by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, for the first half of the year, the proportion of young men in particular continues to rise. Around 70 percent of asylum seekers currently are men.

Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Police deny the problem

Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry and its subordinate Federal Police are trying to tone down the problem. “The current detection figures of unauthorized entry are currently significantly below those of the fall of 2015,” the Federal Police claim, according to Welt.

However, only a fraction of the asylum seekers were registered by the border guards at that time, most of them only later in reception camps. Faeser’s ministry also sees no comparison to 2015, but the ministry’s own account completely ignores the 920,000 Ukraine refugees. In this way, the German government is creating a world that suits it.
