France: One of the 5 Afghan “refugees” suspected of terrorism already tried to go into hiding

On Monday, we reported in our news that five Afghan refugees who had just arrived on French soil were under surveillance because of the risk of terrorism. On Tuesday, broadcaster BFMTV reported that one of them had been taken into custody for resisting one of the surveillance measures. The man would have left the Seine-Saint-Denis department, which the law forbids him to do. The fugitive faces up to three years in prison and a fine of up to 45,000 euros for violating the regulations.

While he was subject to Micas measures (individual administrative supervision measure), the BFTMV stated that the man left Noisy-le-Grand, where he was housed on Monday, before being arrested in the heart of Paris in the evening. While this Afghan refugee is not the one of the five that most worries the authorities in the fight against terrorism, his violation of the law is unacceptable because of Micas, as the law is intentionally very restrictive: house arrest, daily checks at the police station or a ban on contact with certain people are among the rules.
