France: Eurabia was not a conspiracy theory – As part of a “Euro-Mediterranean culture”, pupils must now also learn Turkish and Arabic

Breton and Gallic are not taught in all schools in Brittany, but some offer Arabic and Turkish lessons.

In Ille-et-Vilaine, for example, our little ones can learn the language of the Koran at the school “Le Chat Perché” in Noyal Châtillon-sur-Seiche. These lessons are part of the famous EILE (Enseignements Internationaux de Langues Etrangères), which is to replace the controversial “ELCO” Enseignements de Langue et de Culture d’Origine, abolished by Emmanuel Macron, at the beginning of the school year 2021. 17 subject areas are offered in France: German, American, English, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Danish, Spanish, French-Moroccan, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish. In Noyal-Châtillon-sur-Seiche it is Arabic.

Note that the lucky little Breton children will then be able to continue their Arabic course at the Gayeulles school (in the bilingual English-Arabic section) from 2020 and then at the Chateaubriand secondary school in Rennes.

Gayeulles College justifies its choice as follows:

“The idea is to offer interested and motivated students, whether they speak Arabic or not, the opportunity to learn literal Arabic and then continue this language in the classroom. Learning the language will also be part of a project on Euro-Mediterranean culture and is based on a partnership with a school in Lebanon and probably a Moroccan school.

In Nantes, the Collège Victor Hugo de Nantes has offered an English/Arabic bilingual class since 2011, while the Lycée Clémenceau offers Arabic as a second language. However, there are no Gallo or Breton classes there either….

To broaden its offer, the Académie de Nantes has partnerships with various foreign regions: Germany (Schleswig-Holstein), the United Kingdom (Nottingham/Somerset), Spain (Cantabria), Italy (Emilia-Romagna), the United States (State of Maine and State of Washington) and finally Morocco (Doukkala Abda region), in order to familiarise Breton children with the language and culture of origin of these and other European regions.

Moreover, under the ex-ELCO, no less than ten teachers taught Turkish and Arabic languages and cultures in 49 schools in the department. What will happen to these unfortunate people?

As far as Turkish is concerned, the Emile Zola secondary school in Rennes offers an English-Turkish double language course from year 6. The Bréquigny secondary school also offers Turkish lessons. Considering the people who attend this school, the students must have a very good prerequisite.
