There are currently four deaths of British Airways pilots within a very short time. The airline confirmed the deaths of the pilots on Twitter, but stated in the same message that it ruled out a connection between the deaths: “Sadly four members of our pilot community passed away recently. Our thoughts are with their family and friends. However, there is no truth whatsoever in the claims on social media speculating that the four deaths are linked.”
However, some social media users were not convinced by the airline’s opinion, citing the fact that all pilots must undergo annual medical examinations. From a certain age, these take place every six months. As a result, it is considered unlikely that those affected suffered from previous illnesses. It remains unclear whether the pilots recently received a Corona vaccination, as is claimed.
The Reuters news agency also subjected the allegations to a “fact check” and quoted Sarah Branch, director of vigilance and risk management for drugs at the British drug regulatory agency MHRA. She told the news agency: “We are not aware of any BA pilot deaths after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine, and we have not had any discussions with BA or other airlines to discourage pilots from flying after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine.”
There are also no restrictions in aviation or other industries and activities after receiving the Corona vaccination, said Branch.
