Fear of rape and attacks – German police want refugees to stay away from carnival events

The behaviour of immigrants in Germany has been a problem not only since the gang rapes committed by mostly Muslim refugees on New Year’s Eve in Cologne.

The Express newspaper reports:

The police in North Rhine-Westphalia have advised refugee facilities in the Cologne administrative district against organising trips to carnival events for their occupants.

As reported by the newspaper “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”, the State Office for Central Police Services (LZPD) in Duisburg considers such actions “rather critical” according to an email sent to the district governments, because this would “force the massive appearance of refugees and asylum seekers at carnival events”.

In view of the current security situation in Germany, this “unfortunately leads to undesirable interactions” with the population, according to the letter, which the newspaper has in its possession and which is also said to have been sent to state facilities for refugees.

In addition, the LZPD recommends that the facilities inform their occupants of increased police checks at carnival events and advises those concerned, among other things, to “let the checks pass without criticism” and not to carry large bags or backpacks.
