Car rammings became a common weapon of Islamic terrorists in Europe and to a lesser degree here. Numerous plots have involved proposed Islamic attacks including recently one on a gay pride parade.
Just last month a Seattle Muslim convert was arrested. The convert had discussed driving a “semi-truck” through “the gay pride parade in downtown Seattle”. Even though the arrest came shortly before the anniversary of the ISIS massacre at the Pulse nightclub, both Biden and the media ignored the potential plot and the fact that the Pulse shooting was Islamic terrorism.
“I wish to see the kuffar (non-Muslims) as I kill them, I want to strike terror in them and make Allah pleased for doing so,” the Seattle convert had boasted.
Zero interest from the media. Obviously.
Car rammings have become a contentious issue largely because a major Black Lives Matter tactic became blocking traffic, threatening drivers, and then claiming that they were rammed.
I chronicled a recent tragic case in which a black man was locked up for three years for arguing with BLM thugs.
The media has created the perception that there is a widespread car ramming epidemic by falsely characterizing such confrontations as attacks. And that has led a leap to conclusions about any car encounter involving a protest or a parade.
The most recent one involved a gay pride parade in Fort Lauderdale. And conclusions were quickly jumped and leaped to.
Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Mayor Dean Trantalis (D) said that an incident on Saturday in which a pickup truck ran into a crowd at a Pride parade, leaving one person dead, was a “terrorist attack against the LGBT community.”
A white pickup truck ran over two people, killing one, in Wilton Manors, Fla., just outside of Fort Lauderdale. The vehicle reportedly barely missed Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D), who was riding in a convertible at the parade.
“This is a terrorist attack against the LGBT community,” Trantalis, who was in attendance at the parade, told local station WPLG. “This is exactly what it is. Hardly an accident. It was deliberate, it was premeditated, and it was targeted against a specific person. Luckily they missed that person, but unfortunately, they hit two other people.”
Not according to the facts.
A truck plowed through a crowd at an LGBTQ Pride parade Saturday night, killing one person and injuring another — but the 77-year-old man behind the wheel did not intend to hurt a soul, police say.
The man was physically unable to walk in the parade, so his truck was chosen as the lead vehicle. Police say he was inching forward when he accelerated unexpectedly, hitting two pedestrians.
The driver knew both men who were hit. All three were members of the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus.
Could there have been some clue that the driver was very unlikely to have been carrying out an anti-gay attack.
The driver was wearing a Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus T-shirt and had a large Pride flag on his 2011 white Dodge Ram.
If the evidence weren’t this bulletproof, it would have been forced to fit the narrative. But that’s just impossible here.
Next time may be another matter. As we saw in the George Floyd case, the narrative can be used to bury the truth.
