An Afghan stabbed a woman in the chest and stomach. He then allegedly attacked and raped an 18-year-old girl.
The police in Karlovy Vary had a difficult New Year’s Eve. They received 196 calls on the emergency number, about 70 more than on previous New Year’s Eve celebrations. “The most serious report came shortly after three in the morning. A violent crime occurred in Karlovy Vary in which one person was seriously injured. The suspect was arrested by the police within a few dozen minutes,” said police spokesman Jakub Kopřiva.The knife attack and the subsequent alleged rape must be blamed on the same perpetrator. The Crime News Service was able to find out that it was a 20-year-old Afghan who had come to the Czech Republic from Germany. Both crimes are said to have taken place near the railway station in Karlovy Vary. However, the police have not yet released any further information on the ongoing investigation.
