In February this year, Laura had caused a controversy on social networks. The transgender woman from Gosselies (Charleroi) had vehemently attacked and insulted Islam. Since then, she has been harassed both psychologically and physically.
Two youths beat Laura with violence. The scene can be seen on a video shared on social media. After the two youths have thrown their victim to the ground, they kick her. At this moment, the victim can be heard calling for help, while one of the two attackers shouts several times to his colleague: “Fuck him!”. Meanwhile, a third accomplice is filming what is happening.
Laura had become known because she had reviled Islam, the Koran and its prophet in audio recordings. This had caused outrage among numerous internet users. Subsequently, the woman from Gossel had apologised for her remarks in another recording that was circulated on TikTok. She also withdrew her provocative videos from the social networks. Unfortunately for her, this did not make some people calm down. A manhunt was launched against her.

In February of this year, Laura had already been physically assaulted. “I only had a few bruises above my left eyebrow, which healed quickly. The perpetrator quickly lost his courage when he saw that I had a defensive weapon,” she told us. At that time she had protected herself with a baton. When she was attacked again, she did not have the opportunity to use the baton.
She is not the only one who is harassed. In her apology video she says, “They started harassing my family members. They even drove my mother to suicide. Is that what you really wanted? She has nothing to do with this affair. Is this your religion of peace, benevolence and love? Driving people to suicide? I seem to remember that suicide is forbidden in Islam, isn’t it? However, my own parents do not share my courage for bravery.
