Austria: Eleven-year-old pupil beaten up by Syrian trio and then taken to hospital

In Lower Austria, an eleven-year-old boy was beaten up by three classmates on Tuesday morning. He had to be taken to hospital.

In a secondary school in Haag, an eleven-year-old boy accidentally knocked over a drinking bottle while playing tag during the big break. According to a report by heute.at, he had bumped into a table, which is why the bottle fell down.

Although he immediately apologised to the twelve-year-old bottle owner and picked up the bottle, he is said to have immediately suffered verbal abuse and a punch in the face. The Syrian’s fourteen-year-old brother and a fifteen-year-old friend then allegedly joined in. All three allegedly beat up the much smaller and inferior student.

It was only when the supervisor and other pupils came to the scene that the quarrel was said to have ended. The eleven-year-old was taken to hospital with severe bruises on his left hand and pain on his chin and chest.

The trio was suspended from school until the beginning of October. The victim’s mother filed a criminal complaint. It is said to be not the first incident involving the three Syrians.
