Austria: 133 illegal migrants on the train

On a train to Vorarlberg, numerous persons were behaving in an extremely aggressive manner. As a result, an unscheduled stop was ordered by the train conductor at around 9.30 a.m. He also called the police. . They were astonished. They found 138 strangers from Afghanistan, Syria and North Africa.

All of them were subjected to a police check on the spot. The ten police patrols, including a dog patrol, were supported by a task force from Vorarlberg and the Austrian Armed Forces.

The result: 24 people did not have any documents on them and were promptly taken to the Plon detention centre. Another 109 strangers were in possession of a green procedure card and were thus subject to a territorial restriction. They were reported but allowed to continue their journey. Only five persons were in possession of a white procedure card and were thus staying legally in the federal territory. They were also allowed to continue their journey into Ländle.

A police spokesperson said that there had not been such a large-scale operation “for a long time”.
