Police are investigating an attempted rape after an incident in the centre of Chemnitz.
In the incident, which took place on Sunday morning at around 6.40 a.m., a young woman (24) was attacked.
According to the police on Monday, the 24-year-old was chased on the pavement between Karl-Liebknecht-Straße and Mühlenstraße by an unknown man who grabbed her from behind.
The young woman fought back fiercely and a scuffle ensued with the attacker, causing them both to fall down.
“The perpetrator then held the young woman on the ground, but then fled in the direction of Brückenstraße/Karl-Marx-Monument due to the massive resistance and the loud cries for help. A short time later, the assaulted woman spotted the man again in the parking area of the Dorint Hotel,” the police added.
