Arab tries to rape woman on pavement in Chemnitz, Germany

Police are investigating an attempted rape after an incident in the centre of Chemnitz.

In the incident, which took place on Sunday morning at around 6.40 a.m., a young woman (24) was attacked.

According to the police on Monday, the 24-year-old was chased on the pavement between Karl-Liebknecht-Straße and Mühlenstraße by an unknown man who grabbed her from behind.

The young woman fought back fiercely and a scuffle ensued with the attacker, causing them both to fall down.

“The perpetrator then held the young woman on the ground, but then fled in the direction of Brückenstraße/Karl-Marx-Monument due to the massive resistance and the loud cries for help. A short time later, the assaulted woman spotted the man again in the parking area of the Dorint Hotel,” the police added.

The 24-year-old was not injured. The police are now investigating an attempted rape.

The attacker is described as follows:

Origin: apparently from the Arabic region
Approximately 25 to 30 years old

slender build
Short dark hair, slightly curly on top
Clothing: white T-shirt, over it a black jogging jacket with hood (with small triangles printed on the back), black jogging trousers with white stripes on the sides, trainers (probably white)
