An Anti-Solomonic Decision in the UK Shows the Cruelty of Socialized Medicine

Alta Fixsler is a 2-year-old baby girl in the UK. Her father is American and her mother is Israeli.

The NHS decided that the girl had to be taken off life support; The parents proposed to take the girl for treatment to either Israel or the United States. Both the Israeli government and a number of US Senate members asked the British government to let the little girl leave the UK.

But the UK suffers from socialized medicine so the verdict, as always, must be death.

The judicial ruling has a horrifying anti-Solomonic quality. The famous Solomonic ruling weighed in favor of who cared more. The NHS version is a test of who cares least.

Medical transports have been arranged for Alta to Israel or the U.S. But the hospital in Manchester and medical officials have argued that it would be more humane to terminate her life support, saying Alta experiences pain and is not expected to live for more than another two years.

Much as in the previous Baby Charlie case and other cases, this wouldn’t cost the NHS thing. But the sublime cruelty of socialized medicine demands that the authority of the system be elevated as supreme and that there be no escape possible from its dreaded verdicts.

The court ruled it is “entirely satisfied that [the lower-court judge] was entitled, and right, to conclude that it is in Alta’s best interests that the life-sustaining treatment be withdrawn.

Killing people in their best interest is the presumption of euthanasia.

The judge said that it could not be assumed that the young child, who is cognitively impaired, would necessarily accept the same religion as her parents.

And now conveniently, we’ll never know.
