Alice Weidel, the co-leader of the AfD noted the alarming number of people who have filed for personal bankruptcy since the Corona pandemic began.
According to Weidel, the bankruptcy wave is just a foretaste of the consequences of the catastrophic lockdown policy.
The number of personal bankruptcies in Germany was 31 821 in the first quarter of the current year. That is an increase of 56,5 percent compared to the same period last year. The chairman of the AfD parliamentary group in the German Bundestag, Weidel, explained: “The drastic increase in personal bankruptcies since the beginning of the year is just a foretaste of what awaits us in the near future. The dramatic consequences of the government’s disastrous lockdown policies are beginning to take shape. The reserves of more and more citizens have been used up. Along with companies, the people are increasingly going under economically. A development that can be postponed but not prevented by the gigantic record debt.
“The government will try to maintain the status quo with the money of future generations until election day. The damage has essentially already been done, but it could at least be limited by finally ending all lockdown measures immediately. The government still does not seem to be ready for this.”
When the Bundestag set about changing the Infection Protection Act, which had been created two decades earlier for completely different purposes, many observers were concerned. Now critics see their worst fears confirmed: System politicians have taken a liking to the state of emergency.
The “epidemic situation of national scope” is to be extended again. The state of emergency, which ran until June 30, will therefore continue to exist at least until the end of September 2021. To do this, the Bundestag must once again declared the emergency. There is increasing opposition from the opposition ranks, but in the end this will be of no use.
By definition, this government has the necessary votes. It is grotesque that a two-thirds majority is required to pass amendments to the Basic Law, but only a simple parliamentary majority to legitimize far-reaching encroachments on fundamental rights by means of the Infection Protection Act.
The Infection Protection Act is deliberately formulated in such a way that no scientific facts are required to violate the constitutionally documented rights of citizens. The mere assumption is sufficient that “a dynamic spread of a threatening communicable disease across several countries in the Federal Republic of Germany is a possibility or is taking place”. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI), which is subordinate to the Federal Minister of Health, is run by a veterinarian anyway.
The latest reason for politicians to fuel the waning pandemic is the Indian corona variant, which is no longer allowed to be called that. After South Africa, Brazil and Great Britain had to be associated with mutations for a year, the alleged danger of which turned out to be false, it is now the turn of the Indians.
The fact that India’s variant is supposed to be more contagious is not particularly significant, given that the higher infectiousness is obviously not associated with a higher hospitalization or death rate. This is also shown by data. There, the numbers of new infections are falling as fast as they were increasing. Only a good 100 000 people per day were recently tested positive for the virus – out of a total population of 1,4 billion. The rate of positive tests is only slightly above the German level. So much for the “highly dangerous Delta variant”.
Critics believe that the main reason for the latest lock-down is likely to be the fact that it would no longer be able to legally justify the government’s repressive measures without an epidemic situation.
