According to information by the newspaper JF, the police in Soest, North Rhine-Westphalia, arrested a Syrian on Tuesday who allegedly attacked a snack bar employee with a knife, inflicting life-threatening injuries. According to the newspaper Soester Anzeiger, the suspect lives in the local central accommodation facility for asylum seekers. The man had already been banned from the snack bar.
The incident was preceded by a scuffle with the employee. The Syrian pulled out a knife and stabbed the 42-year-old “abruptly in the neck”, according to the police. The artery in his neck was narrowly missed, but the employee still suffered a “gaping wound” in his neck. The attacker, who was not yet known to the police, fled, but was later arrested after he reappeared at the scene.
However, due to a language barrier, an interrogation has not yet taken place. The police were also unable to find the weapon at the time of the arrest, and the search is ongoing. The injured employee was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment. In their press release, the police had concealed the nationality and asylum status of the Syrian and wrote of two people from Soest.
