Armed police have locked down an Edinburgh neighbourhood amid reports of a “man with a bladed weapon”.
Emergency crews, were deployed to the Calder area of the Scottish capital on Monday morning.
The incident remains ongoing, with members of the public urged to avoid the area.
Two people were injured, police have said.
Edinburgh city council said nearby schools and early learning centres were closed on police advice during the incident in Calder on Monday morning.
Police Scotland have now said the incident is “contained”.
A council spokesperson said: “We’re aware of an ongoing incident in the Calder area of the city and are continuing to support Police Scotland.
“Following police advice, all council buildings nearby, including schools and early years centres, were closed to the public.
“We’re hoping to be able to reopen these shortly and are continuing to keep parents and local residents updated.
“Please contact the police on 101 if you have any information or concerns.”
