A restaurant in Vaulx-en-Velin near Lyon has opened a room reserved exclusively for women. A controversy ensued on social media.

The manager denies any discrimination and assures that he has created a ‘100% girls’ room’ that is indeed reserved exclusively for women, but that the main room is mixed and ‘anyone can eat there’.

“The Lyon seventimes restaurant in Vaulx-en-Velin appears to be practising unacceptable and illegal segregation by isolating women in a separate room. Guests are therefore sorted by gender. Do you find this normal, Prefect of the Rhône department? This is unacceptable discrimination in France,” writes Jérôme Buisson, RN deputy for the Ain department, on X.
