The National Police neutralized a jihadist early this morning in the Puente de Vallecas district of Madrid after he attacked three people with a knife. One of the victims is in serious condition with multiple chest wounds. The assailant, wounded by a service weapon, is under arrest and in the ICU at Gregorio Marañón Hospital. The incident occurred during the transition from Saturday, November 22nd to Sunday, November 23rd, when residents reported an attack on pedestrians on Carlos Martín Álvarez Street in Puente de Vallecas, Madrid. According to police sources, the perpetrator, a 40-year-old man with Arab features, was shouting radical jihadist slogans. Upon arrival, the first patrols found two more victims with knife wounds and the perpetrator reciting verses from the Quran. The situation forced the officers to act with extreme caution around an individual who was displaying a hostile attitude. After mobilizing the Scientific Police and the Information Brigade, officers raided the suspect’s home, where he met the police with extreme violence, sparking a high-risk confrontation inside.
The attacker, a young Spanish man of North African origin who had become radicalised, lunged at the police officers with a knife in his hand, shouting ‘Allah is great!’ and “I’m going to take you with me! He was then shot three times in the chest and abdomen. One bullet pierced his lung, another his kidney, and the third hit him in the abdomen. The attacker is being held in custody at Gregorio Marañón Hospital.
