On Thursday, July 31, 2025, a 45-year-old employee attacked two male colleagues with a knife at a meat processing plant in Quickborn. The suspect is an Iranian citizen. The victims – a 32-year-old Iraqi and a 44-year-old Syrian – suffered cuts to their upper bodies. Both men belong to the Yazidi ethnic-religious group and have worked together with the suspect in the factory for years.

The suspect is accused of initially attacking the 32-year-old man with a butcher’s knife.

He was able to fend off the attack and flee. The suspect then went into the company’s break room, where several people were present at the time. Here he is said to have attacked the 44-year-old second victim directly with the knife.
The second victim was also able to defend himself using a chair. Other people present brought the attacker to the ground and held him there. He was subsequently arrested by police officers. The Schleswig-Holstein State Office of Criminal Investigation is investigating on suspicion of attempted manslaughter combined with grievous bodily harm. At the request of the Itzehoe public prosecutor’s office, the Itzehoe district court issued an arrest warrant on Friday. The accused is currently being held in a prison.
