A man stood on a bench on St Stephen’s Square in Vienna and shouted something about Allah, presumably in Arabic. The provocation can be seen in a short clip posted online by heute.at.

Vienna, July 2025: Yesterday, Thursday, a noisy Arabic muezzin howled across St Stephen’s Square in front of the venerable cathedral. A man dressed in black had stood on a bench in the afternoon and started an Islamic chant. It was certainly not a place he had chosen at random.

‘In front of the most important church for Catholics in Austria, St Stephen’s Cathedral of all places – that doesn’t necessarily show sensitivity on the part of our new neighbours,’ said the outraged heute reader who provided the video clip. An opinion that was certainly shared by the majority of readers.
The origins of St Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna date back to 1137. And since then, the church building has become a symbol of identity for the city and the entire country. At the time of the Ottoman Turkish sieges, it became a symbol of the population’s resistance to conquest and Islamisation in the centre of the besieged city.

Today, St Stephen’s Square has become a parade ground for Arab bogus asylum seekers waving Palestinian flags and shouting anti-Semitic slogans. At Christmas time, devout churchgoers have to be protected from Islamist terror by heavily armed police officers. All because unscrupulous Austrian People’s Party interior ministers and their red and green accomplices have allowed hundreds of thousands of bogus Muslim asylum seekers into the country and steadfastly refuse to deport them. But wait: a fortnight ago, a criminal Syrian was deported to his home country for the first time, for which the Austrian People’s Party Interior Minister Gerhard Karner was celebrated for days.
