Another crime against Christianity. A police source told Valeurs actuelles that on Thursday evening, April 17, a statue of the Virgin Mary was found torn from the ground and broken into several pieces. The crime took place in the Rue de la Bauduère in Les Sables-d’Olonne in the Vendée.
The location is said not to be secured by video surveillance. It is therefore likely to be difficult to track down the perpetrator(s). (…)
Faced with this act, the mayor Yannick Moreau promises: ‘We will make amends for this outrage against the local heritage by restoring the site as it was before this deliberate act of cruelty’, because ‘the town and the inhabitants of Sablais are the owners of these places, which are embedded in their daily life’.
