Germany: Algerian blocks road for no reason and stabs car driver

On Saturday evening, a 35-year-old man blocked the Innerer Graben road in Würzburg for an as yet unknown reason, so that no cars could pass him. In the course of the resulting verbal altercation, he stabbed a 34-year-old man with a small pocket knife and injured him superficially on the thigh. The police were able to arrest the suspect on the spot. At the request of the public prosecutor’s office in Würzburg, the investigating judge issued an arrest warrant.

It is still unclear why the 35-year-old Algerian man stood on the Innerer Graben road at around 7.20 pm and stopped the vehicles and is the subject of further investigations. According to the current state of affairs, the driver and passenger of an Opel Corsa got out of the car to ask the 35-year-old to leave the road. This resulted in a verbal altercation, which ultimately led to a physical confrontation. The suspect then grabbed a small pocket knife and stabbed the 34-year-old several times in the abdomen, injuring him slightly and only superficially on his thigh.
Alerted officers from the Bavarian riot police support unit were able to arrest the suspect on the spot and seize the possible murder knife with a blade around 3.5 cm long in his trouser pocket. By order of the public prosecutor’s office, the Würzburg city police station brought the suspect before the investigating judge on Sunday. The judge followed the request of the public prosecutor’s office and issued an arrest warrant on urgent suspicion of dangerous bodily harm. He was then brought to a prison.
