Consequences of a misguided migration policy? Police officer Tayfun A. confessed in court to raping his then 21-year-old colleague during a private meeting. The Turk got off with probation. His victim is still undergoing psychological counselling today.
The perpetrator, Tayfun A., and his victim had met at the Federal Police at Frankfurt Airport. They then met in A.’s flat in mid-2022. After he had a glass of wine and she had a glass of gin, he tried to approach his then 21-year-old colleague sexually. However, the young woman fought him off and then briefly went into the bathroom to adjust her clothes. When she came out again, Tayfun A. suddenly and violently attacked her.
That night, the woman spent the night at a friend’s house for fear of having to return to her flat alone, reports the Bild newspaper. The following day, she filed a complaint with the police and had her family doctor certify the injuries she suffered during the crime.
The officer Tayfun A. only confessed to his disgusting offence shortly before the end of the hearing of evidence. During the trial, he repeatedly denied having assaulted his younger work colleague. Last Wednesday, now that the burden of proof was presumably irrefutable, the 31-year-old rapist confessed to his offence.
More than just, the man of Turkish origin now loses his job as a federal police officer, his civil servant status and any pension entitlements. He also has to pay 8,000 euros in damages. Tayfun A. may now be unemployed, but he is at large again. This is because the Bonn district court sentenced him to one year and ten months in prison for rape and wilful bodily harm – suspended for four years.
His victim, however, is still undergoing therapeutic treatment.
