Trump Says He Withheld Iran Strike Intel from Germany Because ‘They Would Have Leaked It’

GROK youwatch

President Donald Trump said Monday that he withheld intelligence from Germany regarding an American strike against Iran because he didn’t trust the country’s leadership not to leak it.

Independent journalist and online personality Nick Sortor shared a clip of Trump discussing the issue on the social media site X.

“How about Germany telling us that, ‘Well, it’s not their war, we had nothing to do with it.’ They wanted me to go and tell them everything I was doing,” Trump said. “If I would have told them, they would have leaked it, and we wouldn’t have been nearly as successful.”

Mediaite also covered the comments from Trump’s Monday news conference and called the president’s words “a shocking accusation against Germany.” But is it really all that surprising?

Trump has continuously been critical of NATO, citing their pompous and contemptuous attitude toward America as offense number one.

He’s also called them out for abusing the United States’ benevolence, not paying their fair share when it comes to defense, and for having a short memory regarding the aftermath of World War II. And he’s right!

The U.S. didn’t demand land or money in exchange for all of the suffering caused by the Axis powers, and it didn’t demand reparations from European nations for all of the support we gave them.

Instead, we asked only for land to bury our dead and instituted the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe after saving it from total destruction.

“When World War II ended in 1945, Europe lay in ruins: its cities were shattered; its economies were devastated; its people faced famine. In the two years after the war, the Soviet Union’s control of Eastern Europe and the vulnerability of Western European countries to Soviet expansionism heightened the sense of crisis,” according to the National Archives.

“Over the next four years, Congress appropriated $13.3 billion for European recovery,” the National Archives article explained. “This aid provided much needed capital and materials that enabled Europeans to rebuild the continent’s economy.”

When America called on those very same nations to assist in reopening the Strait of Hormuz back in March, to stabilize shipping and bring down oil prices, they curtly replied that it wasn’t their problem.

Lest we forget Trump’s tumultuous relationship with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the president is right not to trust them with sensitive information related to national security.

Furthermore, Europe’s values are not our values. We have shared roots, but are now on totally different paths when it comes to geopolitics.

Many European Union countries have encouraged the mass migration of Islamic refugees and potential terrorists into their biggest cities. They tend to empower weak leaders who love to bash America and have turned their backs on Christianity.

The European Union seeks to employ a global strategy when it comes to governance, whereas the United States prioritizes its own citizens and sovereignty, rejecting the false doctrine of one-world government.

Even the idea of scaling back the welfare state and government bureaucracy would be roundly rejected in European nations today, yet America is embracing it.

Certain European leaders even expressed dismay back in 2025 after Trump was able to reach a new trade agreement with the European Union.

Do these sound like the actions of an ally? It sounds more like a jealous older sibling who was surpassed, and has now chosen to be bitter rather than harmonious.

How many times must Europe disrespect the United States, refuse to help, and continue cashing foreign aid checks before America wakes up and cuts them off completely?

Various European leaders, and even certain citizens, look down on our way of life, yet they benefit from our hard-earned money in the form of taxpayer funding. They also received various freebies through the United Nations.

Guess who gives the most money to the United Nations? That’s right. The United States.

Trump knows all of this. That’s why he’s been pushing tariffs and restructuring trade deals.

If Europe insists on maintaining this adversarial attitude toward American interests, let’s see how far they get without our checkbook, and how long they last without our military might to protect them.

To quote Winston Churchill’s famous 1940 speech as Nazi Germany began advancing on the United Kingdom: “And even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.”

My oh my, how times have changed.

Finnish study finds mental health issues rose sharply after ‘gender transitions’

Wikimedia Commons, AxelBoldt (talk · contribs), PD-self

A new and thorough study out of Finland has added even more evidence of the harms of “gender transitions,” finding a link to a substantial increase in other mental health issues.

Published in the April 26 edition of the peer-reviewed journal Acta Paediatrica, the study examined “all under-23-year-old gender-referred individuals between 1996 and 2019,” a pool of 2,083 individuals. It found those who went through “medical interventions,” i.e. “gender transition” procedures, had “markedly higher psychiatric morbidity [other mental health issues] than controls before and after referral, with treatment needs often persisting and even intensifying after medical interventions[.]”

45.7 percent of adolescents referred for transgender “services” had other known mental health issues beforehand, which rose to 61.7 percent two or more years after beginning a “transition.” By contrast, just 15 percent of the control group had mental problems at the starting point, and 14.6 percent two years later.

“When prior psychiatric morbidity was controlled for, the gender-referred adolescents had a 5- to 6-fold increased need for specialist-level psychiatric treatment two years or more after the index date compared to the male controls, and 3- to 4-fold greater risk compared to the female controls, regardless of the desired direction of change and GR [‘gender reassignment’] status,” the authors wrote. “This does not support the suggested improvement in mental health after medical GR initiated during developmental years, and in light of the present findings, severe psychiatric disorders do not appear primarily attributable to GD [gender dysphoria]. Psychiatric disorders require their due treatment regardless of a young person’s [so-called] gender identity.”

“Actually, considerable increases in need for psychiatric treatment were seen among those adolescents who had undergone medical GR, particularly among those seeking change toward female,” the paper continues. “Oestrogen has been found to potentially cause depressive symptoms in both [actual women] and [gender-confused men], which may partly explain the increases in psychiatric needs among those who underwent feminising GR. Masculinising hormones may temporarily improve mood, and testosterone-related bodily changes – typically emerging within a few months – could be expected to alleviate GD and subsequently psychiatric treatment needs. However, psychiatric treatment needs were also markedly increased among those who obtained masculinising GR. Subsequent morbidity burden may also arise from [interventions] not meeting the expectations placed on them.”

The findings reinforce the conclusions of a large body of evidence showing that “affirming” gender confusion carries serious harms, especially when done with impressionable children who lack the mental development, emotional maturity, and life experience to consider the long-term ramifications of the decisions being pushed on them or full knowledge about the long-term effects of life-altering, physically transformative, and often irreversible surgical and chemical procedures.

In 2024, National Health Service (NHS) England’s landmark Cass Review found that “gender medicine” is “built on shaky foundations” and that “[w]hile a considerable amount of research has been published in this field, systematic evidence reviews demonstrated the poor quality of the published studies, meaning there is not a reliable evidence base upon which to make clinical decisions, or for children and their families to make informed choices.”

Yet the practice still has intensely-devoted backers within the medical establishment, both for ideological and mercenary reasons.

Many oft-ignored detransitioners, individuals who attempted “transitioning” before regretting it and returning to life as their true sex, attest to the physical and mental harm of reinforcing gender confusion, as well as to the bias and negligence of the medical establishment on the subject, many of whom take an activist approach to their profession and begin cases with a predetermined conclusion in favor of “transitioning.”

“Gender-affirming” physicians have also been caught on video admitting to more old-fashioned motives for such procedures, as with an 2022 exposé about Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s “Clinic for Transgender Health,” where Dr. Shayne Sebold Taylor said outright that “these surgeries make a lot of money.”

Moroccan Man Arrested After Ax Attack on Three Neighbors in Granada, Spain: “All Christians Must Die”

Screengrab youtube

A shocking incident occurred on Monday, April 6, 2026, in the town of Montefrío (Granada, Andalusia), where a 45-year-old man of Moroccan origin attacked three local residents with an ax.

The Attack

The assault took place around 11:00 am on Fuente and Prado streets. The victims — two women and a 69-year-old man, all of Roma (gypsy) ethnicity — were walking along the street when the attacker approached them without warning and assaulted them with an axe.

He first struck the elderly man, who tried to defend himself with his walking cane. He then attacked the two women. One suffered a head trauma, while the other sustained severe hand injuries, including the amputation of a finger. One of the female victims was seriously injured.

Emergency services, including a medical helicopter, assisted the wounded, who were transferred to hospital.

The Suspect and His Statements

The attacker, a Moroccan citizen working as a seasonal farm laborer (temporero) in the area, fled the scene. He hid among olive groves and caused a minor traffic accident with no injuries during his escape. The Civil Guard arrested him around midday.

According to several media outlets, during his transfer to police custody, the detainee stated that he had “felt the call of Allah” and that “all Christians must die.”

The authorities are investigating the case as a crime of grievous bodily harm with possible radical motives. The investigation is ongoing.

Aftermath and Security Response

The incident has generated significant tension in Montefrío. The Civil Guard has reinforced its presence in the municipality to prevent possible disturbances or reprisals. Local media reported that a gathering of residents took place, with tension in front of a shop run by Moroccans.

Broader Context: Moroccan Immigration in Spain and Its Challenges

The Moroccan community is by far the largest among foreign residents in Spain. According to data from the Permanent Immigration Observatory and the National Statistics Institute (INE) at the end of 2025, Moroccans with residence permits exceed 860,000 and approach one million when including those born in Morocco (around 968,999 at the beginning of 2025, with notable annual increases). They represent almost one in every four documented foreigners and are the main non-EU nationality.

Many of these immigrants work in the agricultural sector, especially in Andalusia and Murcia, as seasonal workers in olive groves, fruit, and vegetable farms. They fill a labor demand that the native population does not meet, directly contributing to the rural economy and the maintenance of key sectors such as horticulture.

Regarding illegal migration, the Spanish government states that arrivals fell significantly in 2025 thanks to intensified bilateral cooperation with Morocco. However, challenges in managing migration flows remain evident.

The integration of this large community presents persistent difficulties. Although the majority of resident Moroccans contribute through work and live orderly lives, real problems are documented in various reports and incidents:

Cultural and religious integration difficulties Clashes stemming from differences in values, customs, and religious practices have created tensions in some neighborhoods and rural municipalities. Andalusia, due to its geographic and historical proximity to North Africa, has been a recurring setting for these frictions.

Radicalization and terrorism

Analyzes by the Elcano Royal Institute and security forces highlight that a high percentage of jihadists arrested or killed in Spain in recent years are of Moroccan origin or nationality, with a notable presence of second generations. This has led to increased monitoring of possible extremist hotspots in Muslim communities.

Crime and perception of insecurity

Although not all official studies establish a direct link between immigration and an overall increase in crime, there are overrepresentations in certain offenses (violent robberies, assaults, or drug trafficking) among some groups of Moroccan origin, especially irregular migrants or those with low integration levels. These figures fuel social discontent in areas with high concentrations of seasonal workers.

Local tensions and disturbances

A clear example was the case of Torre Pacheco (Murcia) in July 2025, where the assault on an elderly man by young people of North African origin (several Moroccans) triggered several days of anti-migrant riots, “hunts” organized by far-right groups via social media, clashes, and arrests. Misinformation and hoaxes online worsened the situation, reflecting accumulated grievances over strained public services, job competition, and a sense of impunity in some crimes.

These problems are exacerbated in rural settings like Montefrío, where the arrival of Moroccan seasonal workers is temporary and coexistence with the local population (including the Roma community) can be more fragile. Factors such as unemployment, precarious housing, and exposure to extremist ideologies through social networks or uncontrolled mosques contribute to a minority segment generating conflicts that affect the general image of the community.

Spain has historically pursued a pragmatic migration policy, with regularization programs for long-term residents and agreements with Morocco to manage flows. However, incidents like the one in Montefrío reopen public debate on border control, migrant selection, monitoring of radicalization, and the balance between economic needs and social cohesion.

While investigations continue, Montefrío remains on alert, and the case illustrates the complexities of large-scale immigration from a culturally distinct country, where labor benefits coexist with real challenges of integration and security that demand balanced yet firm responses from the authorities.

WATCH: Crowds chant ‘Allahu Akbar’ outside Downing Street for ’emergency anti-Trump protest’

Crowds of pro-Iranian protesters gathered outside Downing Street to chant “Allahu Akbar” last night in an “emergency protest” against Donald Trump.

Hours after the President threatened to wipe out Iran – but before he announced a ceasefire – activists descended on Westminster to vent.

The demonstration was organised by the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC)

A spokesman for the group previously labelled the now-dead Ayatollah Ali Khamenei a “man of principle” whose “legacy will be etched into history as someone who resisted oppression”.

Ahead of Tuesday night’s “Hands Off Iran” protest, the group said Mr Trump had “made his genocidal intentions against the Iranian people clear”.

It added: “Repeated bombings in the past week against Iran’s civilian infrastructure are now followed by thinly veiled threats of nuclear attacks with the goal of complete annihilation of an entire civilisation.

“We will not stay silent in face of this brazen criminality.

“The UK Government must stop being complicit in war crimes and must immediately impose restrictions against the use of British military bases by American bombers.”

The UK has only allowed its bases to be used for defensive US strikes.

France: Muslim is ‘Seized by a Momentary Fit of Madness’; oddly enough, it makes him scream ‘Allahu Akbar’ inside a Church

L’église Saint-Clément d’Arpajon. Wikimedia Commons, Cyrilb1881, CC-BY-SA-3.0,2.5,2.0,1.0

There is madness everywhere in Europe and North America, and it’s increasing? What can we possibly do about this alarming outbreak of mental illness?

The conventional wisdom still remains in place: most politicians and a large segment of the public assume that Islam is a religion of peace; that Islamic jihadis are “extremists” with only a dim understanding of their own religion, and with more in common with “extremists” of other faiths than with their fellow Muslims; and that anyone who believes otherwise is a racist, bigoted “Islamophobe.”

That much we know, or think we know. The only problem is that virtually every day, there are new additions to the ever-growing Everest of evidence that this conventional wisdom is not only false, but is actively impeding any effective resistance to the advance of Islamic jihad activity in the West.

Take, for example, the case of Aymen B. (European media routinely conceal the surnames of accused criminals), a 43-year-old Muslim from Tunisia who walked into a church on Holy Saturday, April 4, the day before Easter. The French-language publication Valeurs Actuelles reported Monday that according to “police sources,” the grateful immigrant was “taken into custody after entering the Saint-Clément Church in Arpajon (Essonne) and shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ multiple times.”

“Allahu akbar” means “Allah is greater,” i.e., greater than your god. To scream it out in a church is a particular declaration of the supremacy, superiority, and victory of Islam. The scream of “Allahu akbar” is also designed to “strike terror in the enemies of Allah” (Qur’an 8:60). 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta reminded himself to “shout, ‘Allahu Akbar,’ because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers.” For that reason, jihadis routinely scream it while they are in the process of doing violence to non-Muslims.

Aymen B. doesn’t appear to have entered the church intending to do violence to non-Muslims, although while he was there, he “shoved a female worshipper inside the church.” He also “knelt down before prostrating himself on the floor to pray; he then stood back up and knocked over several objects.”

In praying Islamic prayers inside the church, Aymen may have been tacitly laying claim to the building for Islam. Legend has it that when Islamic jihadis conquered Jerusalem in the seventh century, the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Sophronius, invited the caliph Umar to pray inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Umar magnanimously declined, according to the story, saying: “Do you understand, O patriarch, why I did not pray within the church? … If I had prayed in the church it would be ruined for you. For it would be taken from your hands and after I am gone the Muslims would seize it saying, ‘Umar prayed here.’”

Aymen was no caliph, but Europeans should be wary about Muslims who enter churches and pray Islamic prayers. Public Islamic prayer in places such as Times Square and blocking city streets is a declaration of dominance; prayer inside churches could turn out to be a prelude to future ownership claims from Muslims who are less interested in being magnanimous than Umar was in the legend. After all, European churches are mostly nearly empty, and Muslims are increasing in number on the continent by the day. Why should all these buildings go unused while Muslims need places to pray?

Valeurs Actuelles reports also that “four people, including the priest, were present in the building at the time of the incident.” Risking accusations of “Islamophobia,” the priest contacted the police, and Aymen was duly taken into custody. “Following his arrest, Aymen B. underwent a psychiatric evaluation, which concluded that he possessed full mental capacity.” That is extremely surprising, as generally Western European authorities, as unwilling as they are even to admit that such a thing as Islamic jihad even exists, classify all Islamic jihadis as mentally ill. In this case, however, that wasn’t going to fly.

A different excuse, however, was swiftly found. Aymen’s “home was also searched. Although the search yielded no results, it was determined that the individual had consumed a large quantity of cannabis.” And as if on cue, Aymen himself “confessed that he had been seized by a momentary fit of madness and admitted to having smoked a joint just prior to the incident.” He claimed he was so stoned out of his mind that he “had not realized the nature of his actions.” And it’s true: who hasn’t smoked a joint and then decided to drop by the local church, scream “Allahu akbar,” and start shoving people around?

Aymen’s phone told a different story: “Upon searching his mobile phone, officers discovered that he had conducted some intriguing searches; specifically, the individual had searched online for ‘Al Jazeera’ and ‘Bin Laden.’ He was taken into police custody, though he was later released.”

That’s good. After all, what harm could this poor fellow conceivably do? And what glorious benefits his presence brings to France! Everything will be fine, Infidels. It was just a momentary fit of marijuana-induced madness. Sure, it looked like jihadist intimidation, but don’t be “Islamophobic”! Never forget that diversity, contrary to all appearances, is our strength!

WATCH: VP Vance Experiences Brief Hiccup While Calling President Trump in Middle of Speech

Screen grab X

Vice President JD Vance experienced a brief hiccup on Tuesday while attempting to call President Donald Trump during his speech in Hungary.

Vance, who traveled to the country to meet with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, delivered a speech in Budapest and called Trump during the speech, at the commander-in-chief’s request.

“Before I started my remarks, I actually had a special guest that asked that I give him a phone call, and we’ll see – let’s hope that he actually answers. But this is going to be very embarrassing,” Vance said, dialing the president.

On his first try, the crowd could hear a message that Trump’s voicemail box had not been set up yet, so Vance tried again.

“Sorry, one more time,” he said, to laughs in the crowd.

“It’s ringing. It’s progress,” Vance said, before Trump finally picked up.

“Hello Mr. President. How are you?” Vance asked. Trump’s voice was met with cheers from the crowd.

WATCH:

“You are on with about 5,000 Hungarian patriots, and I think they love you even more than they love Viktor Orbán,” Vance said.

Vance’s visit to the country comes weeks after President Trump strongly endorsed Orbán’s reelection campaign, deeming him a “truly strong and powerful leader, with a proven track record of delivering phenomenal results.”

“He fights tirelessly for, and loves, his Great Country and People, just like I do for the United States of America. Viktor works hard to Protect Hungary, Grow the Economy, Create Jobs, Promote Trade, Stop Illegal Immigration, and Ensure LAW AND ORDER! Relations between Hungary and the United States have reached new heights of cooperation and spectacular achievement under my Administration, thanks largely to Prime Minister Orbán,” Trump said in a February 13 Truth Social post, expressing that he was looking forward to continuing to work with him.

Trump added, “I was proud to ENDORSE Viktor for Re-Election in 2022, and am honored to do so again. Viktor Orbán is a true friend, fighter, and WINNER, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election as Prime Minister of Hungary — HE WILL NEVER LET THE GREAT PEOPLE OF HUNGARY DOWN!”

Vance reiterated that sentiment during his speech, telling the crowd that he admired them for fighting for freedom and their sovereignty.

“I am here because President Trump and I wish for your success, and we are fighting right here with you,” the vice president said, drawing parallels by pointing out that both the U.S. and Hungary face the threat of far-left ideology.

Germany’s ‘National Interest’ and Fragile Support for Israel

GROK youwatch

In Germany, is support for its Jewish minority and the State of Israel as government policy and “reasons of state” — known as Staatsräson, or, more vaguely, the “core national interest” — still prioritized, or has Germany begun to renege on its hitherto moral commitments?

According to Australian economist Gordon de Brouwer:

“The national interest has three components — security, prosperity, and social wellbeing—and they should all be part of framing the problem and solutions. Security underpins prosperity, prosperity creates power and pays for security, and a well-functioning society reduces economic and security risks…. a country should identify the risks to the national interest broadly defined and look for practical ways to mitigate those risks.”

In Germany, the term Staatsräson has come to be used for the state’s obligations towards its Jewish community and the state of Israel, following the Third Reich’s “final solution” during WWII – the murder of more than six million Jews – in its quest to eliminate all the Jews of Europe.

By the end of the war, social normalcy between Christians and the country’s remaining Jews no longer existed to any significant degree in Germany. A cultural and moral vacuum ensued.

The postwar West German government nobly acknowledged an overriding obligation to ensure the revival of its state to ensure that it would never undergo such a mass moral failure. It initiated ways of restoring the fractured social compact between Germany’s citizens and the state. Political action was oriented toward benefiting all communities – not for a war machine as in the past, but for social harmony and cohesion.

For a time in Germany, Staatsräson was considered an obligation to the country’s small Jewish community, which has grown from 15,000 members in 1950 to roughly 100,000, out of a current population of 84 million, or 0.12%. The state had positioned its “core national interest” toward the protection and welfare of the few Jews under its watch, including as well their ancestral homeland, Israel. By the early 2000s, this Staatsräson came to be spoken of as a primary component of foreign policy — one which considered support for Israel as unalterably connected to Germany’s reason for existence.

The Staatsräson policy, however — perhaps inexplicably, perhaps not — was never codified into enforceable law. The policy does not appear in Germany’s constitution, nor in any legislation. Consequently, Germany’s support for Israel, conceivably based on shame rather than on moral conviction, can still be debated.

On March 18, 2008, Germany’s then Chancellor Angela Merkel doubled down on the importance of the Staatsräson for the security of Israel, saying:

“This historic responsibility of Germany is part of my country’s Staatsräson. That means, for me as German Chancellor, the security of Israel is never negotiable. And if that is the case, then these must not remain empty words in the hour of truth.”

Merkel forthrightly acknowledged Germany’s “perpetual responsibility for the moral catastrophe of German history” and pledged the country’s support for both Israel and Jews.

In 2025, amidst the Hamas-Israel war, Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier hosted Israel’s President Isaac Herzog on the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the countries. In line with Merkel’s approach, Steinmeier graciously acknowledged that establishing relations in 1965 was “a gift that we Germans could not have expected after the horrors of the Second World War.”

When Germany considers its national interests, Israel’s security should surely be among its highest priorities. Apart from historic factors, Israel is the sole democracy in the region and the lone upholder of the values of Western civilization with which Germany, one assumes, identifies. Israel is a primary source of intelligence information for the continent’s security agencies, which is important given the mass migration of Muslims into Europe, including Germany.

Similarly, when taking into account its past conduct, Germany’s social well-being would be well-served by adhering to its Staatsräson policy towards Israel. Notwithstanding Germany’s solid aid to Israel during its early years when the nation faced grave threats, such as during period preceding the Six-Day (1967), the situation in recent times appears to have altered.

In May 2025, following a meeting between Herzog and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Al-Monitor reported:

“While Berlin, now led by conservative Chancellor Friedrich Merz, says support for Israel remains a core principle, relations have come under strain in recent years, over the Gaza war and other issues.”

Since Hamas’s invasion of Israel on October 7, 2023, the relationship between Germany and Israel has become strained by injudicious claims against the latter of “disproportionate” responses, allegedly resulting in unnecessary civilian deaths.

Ignoring facts on the ground, the complexity of the situation, and Israel’s moral obligation to its residents, Merz castigated Israel by saying it “must also remain a country that lives up to its humanitarian obligations, especially as this terrible war is raging in the Gaza Strip.”

“What the Israeli army is doing in the Gaza Strip, I no longer understand the goal… To harm the civilian population in such a way… can no longer be justified as a fight against terrorism,” Merz said in a May 2025 televised interview. Perhaps if German children had been beheaded or burned alive in their beds on October 7, 2023, he would have a clearer understanding of Israel’s “goal” in the Gaza Strip.

At the height of the war in Gaza, Merz, adding insult to injury, imposed a ban on supplying of weapons to Israel, despite contractual obligations and his prior voiced “non-negotiable” support. As Israel’s second most important foreign supplier of munitions, Germany’s decision had serious implications for Israel.

Germany also did not intervene in Israel’s legal defense against meritless charges filed by South Africa at the International Court of Justice. Germany also refused to provide a guarantee that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would not be arrested under an International Criminal Court warrant, should he happen to visit.

Leftism in Germany is alive and well, which could augur poorly for its political and moral commitment to Staatsräson. According to the Maastricht Diplomat:

“For example, the far-left [German] party Die Linke’s portrays Israel as a colonial oppressor and equates it with Nazi Germany… This directly contradicts the ‘Staatsräson’… Moreover, several authors point out a gradual decline of this feeling of responsibility towards Israel…”

As “anti-Zionism” – the politically correct term for hating Jews — has become popular, the future for Staatsräson begins to look even more fragile. The question then is, will Germany honor Angela Merkel’s promise of unconditional support for Israel as it is fighting to preserve Western civilization against totalitarian barbarism, or will it merely pay lip-service? Specifically, will Germany stand alongside Israel, supporting it in the European Union and in forums such as the United Nations and others? Perhaps even more importantly, will Germany sell Israel the weapons and ammunition it requires at times of existential danger? Indications are that the historic promise of unconditional support is withering fast.

Israel’s present war against Iran and its proxies may not be the last it fights, given the surrounding hordes of jihadists keen to annihilate all Jews and wipe out Israel. For the foreseeable future, Israel will be forced to rely on allies such as the US for some of its military supplies until it becomes self-sufficient.

In the interim, with a global red-green alliance and Germany’s rapidly growing Muslim population, its supportive policy towards Israel appears to have become even more tenuous.

According to the Maastricht Diplomat:

“The memory of the Holocaust continues to serve as a moral compass for and key pillar of German Identity. However, this is changing as old generations are passing away, antisemitic attacks rise and there is an increased pragmatism in German foreign policy.”

Is “pragmatism,” then, the new term in Germany for condoning antisemitism?

The Slow Death of the National Trust

National Trust, Treheinif, on the Treginnis Peninsula in Pembrokeshire, southwest Wales, UK.
Des Blenkinsopp, CC BY-SA 2.0 <>, via Wikimedia Commons

The National Trust used to be one of the United Kingdom’s most treasured institutions. Along with the BBC and the Anglican Church, it represented the cultural embodiment of Orwell’s ‘deep, deep sleep of England.’ But, as with these other stately bodies, it seems to have yielded to the diktats of the same progressive Stasi who stalk the corridors of all the public organisations.

The Trust is, by some way, the largest and most significant heritage and nature conservation charity in Britain. Its possessions include stately homes, castles, archaeological and industrial monuments, gardens, parks, and nature reserves. It receives its funds from a multiplicity of sources, including government departments, local authorities and, notably, directly from the public through the National Heritage Lottery Fund.

However, it is currently facing censure after amending its mission statement to replace references to ‘history’ with words like ‘culture’ and removing mentions of the ‘countryside’ in what is a politically charged shift away from its founding responsibility. The changes, quietly introduced in February as part of an update to the Trust’s ‘Who We Are and What We Stand for’ section, mark an explicit departure from the organisation’s traditional language. Where it once committed to protecting “the nation’s coastline, historic sites, countryside and green spaces,” the charity now speaks more hazily of caring for “nature and landscapes” while seeking to “give new life to old places.”

Its updated objectives consist of the usual word salads of throwaway niceness. They place emphasis on “embracing the traditions of different cultures” and exploring “the stories of different histories.” This, from a charity whose very reason for existing is to protect British culture and history. Understandably, these adjustments have raised concerns among members who believe the Trust is diluting its focus on Britain’s heritage in favour of a divisive, ideological agenda. It has led to the formation of the group Restore Trust, whose supporters lobby the charity to highlight their fears about its future.

The Trust’s progressive rebrand is also accompanied by a new slogan—“Together We Thrive”—with messaging which frames the charity as a “movement (spanning) across time and place,” aiming to harness “the ideas of a million minds. Alive. Open.”

Quite.

Such language represents a move away from everyday conservation towards abstract activism. The Trust’s values were once rooted in the DNA of Britain, emphasising the protection of “nature, beauty and history in towns, cities, villages and countryside.” This has all been replaced by meaningless statements about “caring for nature and culture everywhere.”

Where ‘history’ and ‘countryside’ once conveyed a clear sense of purpose rooted in Britain’s landscapes and heritage, ‘culture’ is a far more ambiguous term, one that is used to justify activities far removed from conservation. The latest membership video (in which you will struggle to see any white, opposite-sex-attracted people) merely reinforces the perception that the Trust is moving beyond its conservation remit towards campaigning zeal. The rebranding coincides with a new lobbying effort urging the government to strengthen environmental protections, with members being encouraged to contact MPs on issues ranging from water quality to land use. This is not the stuff of old maids bicycling to Holy Communion through the mists of the autumn mornings.

The Trust has also highlighted what it describes as “unfair access to green space,” citing cultural barriers that discourage ethnic minority communities from visiting the countryside. The Trust’s gas lighter-in-chief, Director General Hilary McGrady, is unapologetically pro-diversity, equity, and inclusion. In 2025, speaking to MPs, she stated it was a ‘painful truth’ that over 90% of people who work in the heritage sector were white.

While few dispute the idea of widening access, reframing historic sites around contemporary cultural themes is not an appropriate response. The organisation is patronising visitors, of all backgrounds, and problematising the places in its care. It is attempting to attract ethnic minorities by incorporating what it superciliously sees as ‘their’ culture into its properties.

The Trust’s leadership has defended all these changes, arguing they are intended to make its work more ‘accessible’ and ‘relevant’ to a wider audience. McGrady has previously suggested that unfamiliarity with countryside ‘norms’ can deter ethnic minority visitors. She has previously pointed to uncertainties about behaviour and expectations, noting that some might feel they do not know “what am I meant to wear, how do I behave? What’s a countryside code?” She might just as well have said that black people have natural rhythm.

McGrady and the National Trust management are manufacturing a problem. They underestimate the universal appeal of Britain’s natural and historic places. The countryside has long been open to all, and the Trust’s role should be to preserve and present it rather than re-interpret it through the prism of the board’s luxury beliefs.

The shift in language has struck a chord with those concerned about the direction of all major cultural institutions in Britain. The issue is not simply one of wording but of priorities—whether organisations founded to safeguard the nation’s heritage are gradually being repurposed to reflect elite social and political agendas.

There is little evidence right now that these changes have affected visitor numbers. But that is not exactly the point. The more pressing question is what the Trust now stands for, and whether its evolving identity will continue to command the support of those who have long seen it as a guardian of Britain’s history and countryside. If the National Trust continues to try and broaden its appeal to minority communities, who may never get excited by castles and cliffs, whatever is done, it will forget the traditional focus that built its reputation.

Maybe the Trust just doesn’t care. But it soon will when the vast majority of the British public, estranged from yet another of its once cherished institutions, simply stops going.

Instead of cracking down on migrant fare dodgers, German justice minister pushes for decriminalization

Fare dodging on Germany’s public transport has been steadily rising over the past decade, with foreign nationals disproportionately represented in the stats, but instead of cracking down on the issue, Germany’s justice minister has called for fare evasion to be decriminalized.

Stefanie Hubig, of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), argued that prosecuting passengers for travelling without a ticket places an unnecessary strain on the justice system, questioning whether those unable to pay fines should be sent to prison at all.

She said courts are being clogged with minor cases that absorb time and resources, which could be better directed toward more serious criminal matters, a view not shared by public transport operators.

“From my point of view, there are good reasons for decriminalization,” she said, adding that lawmakers must consider whether fare evasion should continue to be treated as a criminal offense at all.

As noted by Bild, travelling without a valid ticket is a criminal offense under Section 265a of the criminal code. Offenders face fines or up to one year in prison, and those unable to pay can be jailed under so-called substitute custodial sentences. Each year, between 7,000 and 9,000 people are imprisoned under this provision alone.

Some argue that the system is both inefficient and socially counterproductive. The German Bar Association has backed calls for decriminalization, with legal experts questioning whether the punishment delivers any meaningful benefit to society. They argue that the current approach disproportionately affects poorer individuals while offering limited deterrent value.

Green and Left Party MPs have already introduced draft legislation to remove criminal penalties for fare evasion and instead treat it as a civil offense.

However, the proposal has been ridiculed by conservatives who argue that weakening enforcement sends the wrong message at a time when rule-breaking on public transport is already rising. CDU MP Günter Krings dismissed the initiative, saying there would be no end to criminal prosecution under the CDU/CSU.

Public transport operators have warned that removing criminal penalties would only further embolden fare evaders, especially repeat offenders, while leaving companies and law-abiding passengers to absorb the financial consequences.

In some regions, such as in the eastern state of Thuringia, inspectors and conductors have reportedly been told to avoid checking tickets amid a rise in violence against staff.

A series of violent incidents linked to fare disputes has intensified concerns. In one case in Dresden, a man who had been removed from a bus after travelling without a ticket returned and stabbed a ticket inspector, leaving him seriously injured. In another incident in Magdeburg, a woman without a valid ticket attacked multiple railway staff and bit police officers after being asked to leave a train.

In Berlin, a ticket inspector was left permanently blind in one eye after being brutally beaten by a couple during a dispute over fares, with the victim later telling a court that his “old life had been taken” from him. The inspector was called a “dirty n****r” during the attack by 24-year-old Mohammad A. and his wife, Israa M. (22).

In February of this year, a 36-year-old railway employee died after being violently assaulted by a passenger during a ticket inspection.

In 2023, Germany’s rail system saw an explosion in violence, with 75 violent and sexual crimes every single day. There were 25,640 violent crimes recorded in 2023, a 42 percent increase from 2019. There were 1,898 sexual crimes, a 60 percent increase, and 555 knife crimes.

Against this backdrop, opponents argue that removing criminal penalties for fare evasion risks further weakening already strained enforcement mechanisms. Without the threat of prosecution, they say, authorities will have fewer tools to deal with persistent offenders, potentially exacerbating existing tensions.

UK universities ignore students’ poor writing skills in favour of diversity and inclusion

England’s higher education regulator has warned that some universities refuse to penalise poor spelling, grammar and punctuation in student assessments, in the name of inclusivity.

The Office for Students (OfS), which regulates higher education in England, reached this conclusion after reviewing assessment policies at five institutions.

It expressed concern that the practice of overlooking errors in written work may be widespread, driven by a misguided application of equalities legislation aimed at making assessments more “inclusive”.

It warned that such practices threaten academic rigour and public confidence in degrees.

Some providers interpreted the 2010 Equality Act in a way that led them to avoid assessing written English proficiency for all students, focusing instead on ideas and subject understanding.

According to reports in the British media today, a leading institution such as King’s College London, a Russel Group University, instructed lecturers to “focus on ideas, not grammar” as part of an overhaul of its assessment framework.

Internal slides headed “equality, diversity and inclusion” advised staff to embrace linguistic diversity, make assessments “culturally responsive” and reward students’ use of their culture, language and identity.

Essay word limits in some cases are being reduced from 2,000 to 1,300 to avoid overburdening students, while traditional exams are being scaled back in favour of greater choice in assessment formats.

King’s has 41 per cent black and minority ethnic undergraduates and cites its commitment to inclusion in its access plan.

A spokesman for King’s College London defended the changes, stating: “Standards at King’s remain as high as ever. Our approach still includes rigorous exams, alongside other forms of assessment that help students build the practical skills employers are looking for.

“We have worked closely with students, alongside academic experts, to develop this approach so that our graduates are ready for the workplace – without compromising academic integrity.”

An anonymous academic at the university described the framework in the Daily Mail as “dreamt up by middle management to justify their existence” and said it was “about sending a message about which side of the culture war the university is on”.

Students have launched a petition against the reduced word counts, arguing that the changes would leave them less prepared for postgraduate study and the job market.

King’s College was not the only university reportedly overlooking literacy errors in an effort to boost “inclusivity” among students, claiming high standards might disadvantage ethnic minorities.

A University of Hull marking policy reportedly stated that a “homogenous North European, white, male, elite mode of expression” put students whose first language is not English at a disadvantage.

Staff at the University of Worcester, Durham University, and the University of the Arts London were told to focus on marking ideas and understanding of subject matter as opposed to language mistakes.

The findings echoed earlier warnings from ministers and commentators that “inclusive assessment” practices could contribute to artificial grade inflation.

Former Conservative education secretary Gavin Williamson addressed such instances last month at a higher education conference, saying: “Lowering the bar for certain groups of students serves no one.”

He described the approach as “patronising to expect less from some students under the guise of supporting them”.

Minister for Higher and Further Education Michelle Donelan said the government was “determined to drive up standards at universities so that every student can benefit from a quality education which leads to good outcomes”.

Dr Edward Skidelsky, lecturer in philosophy at the University of Exeter and director of the Committee for Academic Freedom, warned: “These attempts to dumb down assessment in the name of ‘inclusivity’ are being pushed by university managers against the will of academics and students themselves, the best of whom hunger for an education that is deep and rigorous.”

Universities UK responded that the OfS review was too narrow in scope and that there was “no evidence” such practices were the norm across the diverse higher education sector.

The OfS published findings from a review of assessment policies at five institutions, prompted by reported cases this year in which universities appeared to overlook literacy errors to boost inclusivity.

The regulator found a range of practices that raised concerns about rigour, with some institutions interpreting the Equality Act in ways that led them to avoid assessing written English proficiency for all students.

The OfS stated there is “no inconsistency” between complying with equality legislation and maintaining standards in spelling, punctuation and grammar. It described failing to penalise poor writing as “not necessary or justified”.

Susan Lapworth, Director of Regulation at the OfS, said students should be able to communicate their ideas “effectively and correctly”.

She called the practice of ignoring poor language skills both “patronising” and something that “threatens to undermine standards [and] public confidence in the value of a degree”.

The regulator said it would revisit the issue in a year and is prepared to take action where assessment practices lack sufficient rigour. It also noted that such policies could indicate wider concerns about unexplained grade inflation.
