UK: Christian documentary filming banned by National Trust in ‘religious discrimination’

The National Trust has found itself at the centre of discrimination claims after refusing to let a Catholic filmmaker shoot at a historic religious site in Northumberland.

Christian Holden, who specialises in documentaries with Christian themes, was turned away from St Cuthbert’s Cave because of what the Trust called his “religious affiliation”.

The 51-year-old filmmaker from Tenby, Pembrokeshire, had requested permission to film at the cave, where St Cuthbert’s body is believed to have been hidden from Viking raids in the 9th century.

But Trust officials said no, sparking accusations from Voice for Justice UK that the heritage charity has breached equality laws.

The Christian human rights group argues that blocking someone from filming based on their faith amounts to illegal discrimination under the Equality Act 2010.

Mr Holden had been commissioned earlier this year to create a documentary following Dr Jason Baxter, an American academic, and students from Benedictine College, a Roman Catholic university in Kansas.

The group walked the 62-mile St Cuthbert’s Way in August, tracing the saint’s historic route from Melrose in Roxburghshire, where Cuthbert served as prior, to Lindisfarne in Northumberland, where he was bishop.

The documentary aimed to explore the legacy of the 7th-century monk, who’s now the patron saint of Northumbria.

St Cuthbert’s Cave was a crucial location for the film – it’s traditionally believed to be where the saint’s body rested in 875 AD before being moved to Durham, where it remains today.

When Mr Holden requested permission in June to film at the cave, he was initially told the Trust doesn’t host filming of a religious or political nature.

“To have someone say we can’t host you because of your religious affiliation – that’s really stunning,” Mr Holden told The Telegraph.

After following up with a phone call, he received an email confirming the Trust would maintain its refusal due to the film’s religious affiliation.

Emails seen by The Telegraph reveal a Trust employee wrote: “We will, however, be following through with our initial decision that we will not be able to host your filming due to its religious affiliation.

“I’m sorry I know this is disappointing, but this approach has been mandated from the highest level of the NT.”

The documentary was forced to go ahead without featuring St Cuthbert’s Cave. Voice for Justice UK believes the Trust has broken the law by denying access based on religious grounds.

Rev Lynda Rose, the organisation’s chief executive, said: “The National Trust is tasked with protecting the nation’s historical sites and monuments. Christianity first came to our shores almost 2,000 years ago.

“For around 1,300 years, we have been a Christian country. Our heritage is Christian.”

She called the refusal “a rejection and betrayal of the heritage they ostensibly exist to protect”.

It’s not the first time the Trust has faced criticism over its approach to Christianity.

In 2023, the charity released an “inclusivity and wellbeing” calendar that featured Diwali, Eid and Ramadan but left out Christmas and Easter.

The National Trust has since insisted it doesn’t actually have a formal policy against religious filming.

A Trust spokesman said: “The National Trust has no mandate or policy about religious filming.

“Each request should be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and we are looking into how this was handled to ensure it doesn’t happen again.”

They pointed out that religious programmes have been filmed at Trust properties before, including Songs of Praise at Fountains Abbey in 2022.

“We welcome everyone to the places in our care and provide space for people to come together and celebrate their culture and heritage,” the Trust said.

The organisation says it’s keen to work with Mr Holden to find a resolution to the issue.

“She’s No Longer With Us” – President Trump Announces Tragic Death of National Guard Member Sarah Beckstrom on Thanksgiving Day

President Trump announced on on Thanksgiving that Sarah Beckstrom passed away after the terrorist attack on Wednesday.

President Trump made the announcement moments ago.

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, Sarah Beckstrom, the 20-year-old West Virginia National Guard member who was critically wounded in an ambush-style shooting near the White House on Wednesday.

Sarah had volunteered to work that day so others could enjoy Thanksgiving with their families.

Beckstrom suffered a “mortal wound,” and passed away on Thanksgiving Day.

“She volunteered to be there on Thanksgiving — working today — she volunteers, as did many of those guardsmen and women so other people could be home with their families,” US Attorney General Pam Bondi said during an appearance on Fox News on Thursday.

Sarah was killed by an Afghan national who was brought into the US in 2021 by Joe Biden.

Our prayers are with Sarah, her family, and all of the brave men and women who protect this great nation.

Vienna: Afghan Muslim attacks friend with knife – for ‘praying incorrectly’

GROK

Just a few days after a case of serious violence within a family, in which a father stabbed his own daughter, another bloody incident in Vienna is now causing a stir: in a shared flat in the Brigittenau district of Vienna , a 26-year-old Afghan man is alleged to have injured his 27-year-old flatmate with a knife.
The attack took place on Thursday at around 6.30 p.m. According to investigations so far, the 26-year-old had only moved into the accommodation in the 20th district a few weeks ago. An argument broke out between the two men, which, according to the police report, started ‘for religious reasons’. The younger man is said to have accused his compatriot of not practising his religion correctly, reports Austrian news outlet oe24.
During the altercation, the attacker allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and inflicted cuts on his flatmate’s hand. The victim fled the flat and called the police emergency number from the street. Emergency services and paramedics arrived quickly at the scene and the 27-year-old was taken to hospital.

Police officers from the Brigittenau municipal police station provisionally arrested the alleged perpetrator at the scene of the crime. The man is known to the authorities and has already been convicted of grievous bodily harm. At that time, he was issued with a restraining order and a provisional weapons ban.

The weapon used in the attack was a kitchen knife with a blade length of around 20 centimetres. The 26-year-old was charged with suspicion of intentional grievous bodily harm and is in police custody.

Trump requests 500 more members of National Guard in DC after two shot by Afghan ‘alien’

Today Americans are giving thanks that two members of the National Guard were not instantly killed in a Washington, D.C. shooting incident.

Two members of the West Virginia National Guard were shot near the White House on Wednesday around 4:15 PM EST; both remain in critical condition in the hospital. The suspect, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, is an Afghan who came to the United States in 2021 under Operation Allies Welcome. President Donald Trump called the double shooting a “heinous assault” and an “act of terror.”

The two National Guard members were patrolling near the corner of 17th and I streets when Lakanwal “came around the corner” and “immediately started firing,” according to Metropolitan Assistant Chief Jeff Carroll, who described the attack as an “ambush.” A member of law enforcement—either a Guardsman or responding officer—opened fire on the shooter, severely wounding him. Lakanwal was shot at least four times before being tackled to the ground and restrained.

Law enforcement officers in the area were able to treat the two wounded soldiers swiftly; there is no update on their condition as of publication time.

According to Fox News, the suspect had previously collaborated with American forces in the War on Terror: “Intelligence sources told Fox News Digital that Lakanwal had a prior relationship with various entities in the U.S. government, including the CIA, due to his work as a member of a partner force in Kandahar.”

After relocating to the United States, Lakanwal settled in Bellingham, Washington, with his wife and five children. “How he traveled the roughly 2,500 miles to Washington, D.C., ahead of Wednesday’s shooting remains unclear,” Fox News reported.

After the terrorist attack, the Department of Homeland Security referred to the shooter as a “criminal alien from Afghanistan” and President Trump stated that “ever single alien who has entered our country from Afghanistan under Biden” must be re-examined.

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated that President Trump has requested an additional 500 members of the National Guard be sent to Washington, D.C. to join the already deployed 2,200 troops. The Trump administration had brought in the National Guard in August to reduce “out of control crime,” and criminal activity has dropped since the deployment.

Secretary Hegseth stated that the double shooting “will only stiffen our resolve to ensure that we make Washington, D.C. safe and beautiful.”

A federal judge ruled last week that the Trump administration’s use of the National Guard was unlawful; the administration has now requested an emergency stay of order from a federal appeals court in the wake of the terrorist attack.

Trans Activist Father of Star Trans Athlete Charged With Child Pornography Possession For The SECOND Time

The father of a prominent transgender track athlete is facing new child pornography charges after authorities say he was found with images of girls as young as 8 while awaiting incarceration on an earlier child pornography conviction. Marc Jacques, the father of Maëlle Jacques, had used his son’s transgender identity and his own advocacy for transgender rights as mitigating factors in his first trial.

Jacques, a former employee of Dartmouth College, first came to the attention of authorities in February of 2022, when federal child exploitation authorities began investigating a number of reports made through CyberTip – the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s centralized reporting system for the online exploitation of children. The reports were made by Kik Messenger, a freeware messaging platform notorious for its use in facilitating in child sexual abuse.

Kik reported that between November 24, 2021 and December 6, 2021, a Kik user with the username “wayne9985” uploaded 49 files to other Kik users via private chat messages that appeared to depict child sexual abuse material. The account was quickly traced back to Jacques using IP addresses associated with the image uploads. Further investigation revealed that Jacques’ residential IP address in Newbury, New Hampshire, was connected to more than 40 other CyberTips recorded by Reddit, Google, Tumblr, and SendVid between 2018 and 2022.

Maëlle Jacques speaking at the NH Legislature, with Marc Jacques sitting in attendance.

A search warrant was obtained for Jacques’ home, and, when officers arrived, Jacques admitted to the crime and voluntarily surrendered his electronic devices.

On his laptop, Jacques was found to have stored 162 files containing child pornography, with an additional 60 files on his iPhone, and 6 files on his desktop computer. In one of the videos described by prosecutors, a female child was seen being orally raped.

Because he has two sons he has full custody of, Jacques was not remanded to custody and was instead released with conditions to self-report back to court for his hearings. On February 26, 2024, Jacques pleaded guilty to knowingly distributing child pornography, and waived his right to have his case heard before a grand jury.

On September 9, 2024, Jacques was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison, but was not remanded to immediate custody. Arguing that he had to make arrangements for the care of his children and his own affairs, the court gave him supervised release with an order to voluntarily surrender himself to his designated prison on December 2, 2024.

Shortly after being released pending his report date for federal prison, Jacques was arrested again when investigators learned he had continued accessing child sexual abuse material during and after the course of his trial.

Throughout the trial, Jacques had been allowed to remain out of custody and to use three electronic devices he said were necessary for work and personal matters. He had been explicitly informed that all activity on those devices would be monitored by Internet Probation & Parole Control (IPPC), a software firm contracted by the U.S. government to oversee the computer use of individuals under supervision.

IPPC monitoring captured screenshots between August 10 and September 16, 2024, showing Jacques accessing what appeared to be child sexual abuse videos on his work laptop. The monitoring period indicates that Jacques was accessing the illicit material just before he was sentenced as well as the days after sentencing, when he had been released while awaiting incarceration.

According to an affidavit submitted by Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Derek Dunn, one of the videos in Jacques’ possession included a girl being anally raped by an adult male, while others featured videos of naked prepubescent and pubescent girls digitally edited to show them being penetrated or abused.

Due to a delay in processing, the screenshots did not come to the attention of the Probation Officer until October 16 – less than one month after Jacques was sentenced in the case of his 2022 charges of child pornography.

Jacques was confronted about the images and surrendered a flash drive, but he insisted it did not contain anything illegal. A preliminary review of the contents on the drive confirmed child sexual abuse material was present, and the drive was sent for a more in-depth analysis. Additional videos were found depicting children as young as 8 being forced to engage in sexual acts.

From the Bail Violation Report.

Jacques was arrested on October 18, and charged with the possession of child pornography on December 30, 2024.

The case has had undergone several extensions as it appears the prosecution and defense are negotiating on a way to navigate issues with discovery and possibly avoid trial altogether by striking a deal. Last week, United States Attorney Erin Creegan filed a request to extend the indictment period until January 26, 2026.

As previously reported by Reduxx, Jacques is the father of Maëlle Jacques, a transgender teenager who had made headlines for demanding the right to play in female sports. Maëlle is a student at Kearsarge Regional High School in New London, New Hampshire, and competes in both soccer and track. Maëlle previously won the girls’ Division II High Jump title in New Hampshire.

His athletic participation has become the center of debate in New Hampshire, where proposed and enacted legislation would ban male students from participating on girls’ sports teams. However, in August of last year, Maëlle’s school board voted to allow him to continue participating in girls’ sports.

In his initial case, Jacques used his son’s transgender identity, as well as his own trans activism, as mitigating factors, and his son penned a letter asking the court to consider a non-custodial sentence for his father. In his letter, Maëlle noted that his mother was unsupportive of his transgender identity, and that without his father he ran the risk of losing the financial support he required to go to college.

“For his rehabilitation as well, the work he’s put into becoming a better person would be stripped away, among the mental distress put upon him by losing his kids. I beg of you to consider the work he’s put in, and the reliance I place upon him as a parent and a necessary figure in my life,” Maëlle wrote.

At the time the letter was being submitted, Jacques would have already been caught by IPPC software accessing new child sexual abuse materials.

Jacques also received letters of support from Dr. Elizabeth Counselman-Carpenter, a professor of social work at Adelphi University, who pointed out that Jacques was a “committed member of his community and LGBTQIA+ activist” in her argument against a custodial sentence.

In October of last year and as a direct result of Reduxx’s reporting on the case, Jacques’ counsel moved to try and have the letters sealed. Dr. Counselman-Carpenter in particular claimed she was so frightened by her character reference for Jacques being made public that she had sought assistance from the police.

From an October 2024 filing requesting the letters of character reference written for Jacques be sealed.

The request was partially granted, with the character reference letters Jacques had submitted from his two sons being partially redacted. However, Dr. Counselman-Carpenter’s letter was not altered, along with other letters Jacques had received from friends and colleagues speaking to his ‘upstanding’ character.

The multitude of letters advocating for Jacques and characterizing him as a “low risk” were part of the reason why the court allowed him to remain in the community with a delayed voluntary surrender order.

Jacques also wrote a lengthy letter to the court in his own defense, noting the work he had been doing with the ACLU and GLAAD to support Maëlle’s fight to be allowed to continue participating in girls’ sports.

Significantly, his letter inadvertently revealed that he would have been actively attending meetings with politicians and political organizations with his son even after pleading guilty to the child pornography charges from his 2022 case.

Marc Jacques’ letter to the court during his 2024 trial.

Prior to his arrest, Jacques had been present at almost every public sporting and speaking event attended by his son, meaning he had consistent and regular contact with girls in the age range of the victims found on his devices.

Germany Banning Fun Because of Threat of Gang Violence

Screengrab youtube

Berlin police expect that they won’t be able to cope with the level of disorder and violence likely to occur on New Year’s Eve, so they are resorting to bans on private fireworks and so-called ‘protection zones’ instead.

And Berlin citizens agree that the authorities won’t be able to protect them against thuggish gangs, so widely support these limitations.

Young men were allowed to wreak havoc during last year’s celebrations, setting buildings ablaze and attacking emergency services. As we reported at the time, the establishment failed to name the perpetrators, but the AfD stressed that the “civil war-like conditions” were a result of mainstream “migration policy.”

Officials continue to be unspecific this year, saying simply that—in the words of German Police Union boss Jochen Kopelke—“blank-firing weapons, gang violence [and] planned ambushes” are “what we can expect.”

Kopelke also told German daily Rheinische Post that police authorities “are desperate because there aren’t enough officers available.” He has demanded that “repeat offenders from recent years” should be banned from entering certain areas of the city, among other measures.

Officials also say that “kiosks and shisha bars” should be “consistently inspected” ahead of the celebrations to prevent the illegal sale of blank-firing weapons.

Many Christmas markets are likewise being cancelled across the country this year due to security concerns—specifically, the threat of terror.

A Saudi psychiatrist and refugee, Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, drove his car into crowds in Magdeburg during the city’s Christmas festivities last year, killing six people. As europeanconservative.com columnist Lauren Smith highlighted earlier this month, “there are fears that such an attack could be repeated and that the proper protections would not be in place.”

Imam’s deportation highlights Italian crackdown on Gaza protests

Italy’s interior minister Matteo Piantedosi. Screengrab youtube

The deportation of an Imam from Turin, Italy has spurred demonstrations from pro-Palestinian activists, left-wing movements and immigrant communities amid a growing crackdown of groups perceived to be Hamas supporters.

On the morning of November 25, Italian police picked up Mohamed Shahin from his home in the city to send him back to Egypt, his home country, following an expulsion decree citing security reasons signed by the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi. The Imam was arrested and taken to the Turin repatriation centre. His residence permit was revoked and he was ordered to be immediately deported to Egypt.

As officers arrived, Shahin contacted the representatives of Torino per Gaza, a collective of activists that has organised numerous large demonstrations in support of Palestinians in the city.

The group quickly mobilised, condemning what it described as a political move: “His only crime is shouting for freedom for Palestine,” one statement read.

A demonstration was organised in front of the city prefecture to demand the Imam’s release. The Sì Cobas Turin, the local branch of the Sindacato Intercategoriale Cobas, an independent Italian labour union, also joined the initiative.

Their shared statement read: “Mohamed was arrested after two years of protests during which he never stopped publicly speaking out against the ongoing genocide in Palestine.”

Nova.news reported that, according to the movement, “despite his request for political asylum, the judge confirmed Mohamed’s deportation, ignoring all evidence of the real and documented danger he faces”. This was “Islamophobic and racist”, the group said.

The incident has highlighted the systematic actions of Italian authorities, who have increasingly targeted individuals and organisations perceived as supportive of Hamas — a stance treated as a national security concern.

“This is not an isolated case,” said Claudio Bertolotti, an Italian security analyst and director of the Observatory on Radicalism and Counter-Terrorism (ReaCT)

“It is part of a series of measures aimed not only at countering radicalisation but also at monitoring the activism of organisations linked to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood network.”

Many of these groups, especially after the Hamas attack on southern Israel on October  7, 2023, have played a leading role in Italian pro-Palestinian solidarity movements and exerted influence in political circles and immigrant communities.

Shahin was leader of the Omar Ibn Al Khattab mosque in Via Saluzzo in Turin. He had been resident of the city for more than 20 years and had recently emerged as one of the main organisers of protests against Israel.

During these demonstrations, he described the October 7 2023 attack as “not an act of violence” and later added, “I cannot speak only about October 7, because it is the result of 80 years of occupation and 11 previous wars,” framing the attack as “a reaction” rather than a criminal act.

For Italian authorities, these statements were deemed sufficient to justify his deportation.

This episode reflects a significant shift in Italy’s traditional approach, historically sympathetic to the Palestinian cause.

While firmly aligned with the west since 1945, Rome has long maintained independent and often positive relations with the Arab world, particularly with the Palestinians.

A notable example was the “Lodo Moro”, a secret deal allegedly made by the Italian secret services on behalf of the late politician Aldo Moro in order to shelter Italy from the wave of Arab-Palestinian terrorism that shook Europe in the late 1960s.

It allowed Palestinian factions to transport arms through Italy in exchange for a promise not to carry out attacks on Italian soil.

Journalistic accounts have described this Italian ambiguity as “a Western bride, an Arab lover.”

“In recent years, while maintaining privileged relations with certain Arab countries, Italy has shifted from its previously more pro-Arab positions toward closer alignment with American and Israeli policies,” said Bertolotti.

At the same time, he added, “Italian intelligence has been increasingly vigilant regarding Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood because of their influence within growing foreign-origin communities and the broader spread of political Islam.”

The Muslim Brotherhood is a transnational organisation aiming to spread Islam globally through grassroots “Islamisation” of societies.

Hamas serves as its Palestinian branch. Present in all western European countries, the Muslim Brotherhood arrived in Italy with the first waves of immigrants in the 1970s, establishing one of the most important networks in terms of size and organisation among Italian Muslims.

Their presence was further highlighted by the 2019 publication of the investigative book Qatar Papers. It revealed that between 2011 and 2014, Qatar Charity financed over 140 projects in Europe, with a particularly high concentration in Italy, totalling around €22 million.

Documents suggest that part of these funds passed through networks linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, consolidating the organisation’s presence in Italy.

Despite representing less than 3 per cent of Italy’s resident population, the Muslim community is expected to grow significantly.

“In many ways, the situation in Italy is not very different from that in France or Belgium, although it is chronologically and generationally behind,” according to Bertolotti.

“With the native population shrinking while the Muslim population grows, movements linked to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood have considerable potential to embed themselves within immigrant communities.

“Today’s intelligence efforts aim to prevent such networks from taking root too deeply, so they do not ‘Islamise from below’ or develop into a parallel society, as has happened in other countries,” he told Brussels Signal.

Since October 7, 2023, many groups linked to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas sympathisers have organised and led numerous large-scale demonstrations in support of Gaza and the Palestinian people.

Sometimes they strengthen their influence within immigrant and activist communities, creating new political footholds. Yet the majority of participants —tens or even hundreds of thousands — have no direct ties to these organisations.

Italian authorities continue to monitor these networks to prevent them from embedding too deeply within Muslim communities.

In this context, Shahin’s deportation reflects not just an individual case but a wider policy aimed at curbing the influence of political Islam within Italy’s growing Muslim population.

Switzerland: Turkish man wanted to ‘stab people at random’ and die ‘for Allah’

AI generator

He wanted to die a ‘martyr’s death’ and die ‘for Allah’ on the front line: this is what an 18-year-old from Aargau wrote in his diary in February. In March, the apprentice installed a messenger app so that he could communicate in encrypted form with sympathisers of the terrorist organisation Islamic State.

In May, events came to a head: the Swiss-Turkish dual citizen expressed his conviction in an audio message that it was right to kill ‘infidels’. As ‘proof,’ he cited passages from the Koran that were supposed to support his statements. According to the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper, he then downloaded instructions for making explosives and guidelines on how a fighter should behave tactically from an Islamist website – and he bought a knife.

He sent a co-worker an IS song entitled ‘I die to live with the immortals’. He asked a person who is anonymised in the court order whether it would be okay to drive into a crowd of people to kill them – even if there were Muslims among the victims. Otherwise, another option would be to ‘stab people randomly in the city’.

According to the court order, a source informed the Federal Office of Police (Fedpol) in mid-May about the 18-year-old’s plot. On June 4, the Aargau native declared in an audio message that he supported IS. Two days later, the authorities intervened and the Office of the Attorney General has been investigating ever since.

France: Woman abducted, raped and left naked on roadside near Toulouse, 2 Algerians now face trial

Illustration AI generator

Two Algerian men accused of abducting and raping a woman in Toulouse in September 2022, before leaving her naked on the roadside, appeared before the Assize Court on Monday to answer for their alleged crimes.

Both men are charged with kidnapping, extortion with a weapon, and arbitrary detention with release under seven days.

As reported by Actu Toulouse, the victim, referred to as Mélanie, was returning home to the Pech-David district of the city after a date on the evening of Sept. 24, 2022, when she was approached by two strangers as she got out of her vehicle. They pointed what appeared to be a firearm at her, ordered her back into the car, and drove away with her.

The defendants, Abdelkader G. and Mohamed M., were aged 18 and 20 at the time. The weapon was later identified as a replica. Lawyers for Abdelkader G. state that the initial intent was to steal the vehicle, but that the pair continued with the abduction out of fear she would alert authorities.

The car stopped later that night on Chemin des Étroits near the Garonne River. According to investigators, Mélanie, believed to be in her 30s, was ordered to undress under threat of the gun and was forced to perform oral sex on Abdelkader G. before being abandoned by the roadside.

A passing motorcyclist found her and alerted the authorities. She was taken to hospital and prescribed ten days of medical leave.

DNA collected from a medical examination of the victim linked investigators to Abdelkader G. He was arrested days later while driving the victim’s car in Toulouse’s Saint-Michel district, and his alleged accomplice was detained shortly after.

The men face the same charges, but Abdelkader G additionally faces charges of rape at gunpoint.

The primary defendant, now 21, is known to authorities for drug trafficking offenses. He arrived in France from Algeria in 2016 at the age of 12 as an unaccompanied minor. He experienced lengthy periods in foster care and juvenile detention. His parents are in prison in Algeria.

According to French media, his lawyer confirms that he admits to the acts and acknowledges that the combination of offenses could result in a life sentence.

‘Break Your Crosses, and Enslave Your Women’: Christians the ‘Prime Target’ of Radical Islam, French Intel Report Admits

Illustration GROK

A report from France’s domestic intelligence agency has identified Christians as the “prime target” for radical Islamists, who are actively trying to stoke anti-Christian sentiment in the West with “anti-crusader” propaganda.

The General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI) has found that “anti-crusader” rhetoric has been at the forefront of jihadist rhetoric and attacks over the past thirty years.

The report from the French intel service, seen by Le Figaro, said that Islamist propaganda frequently attempts to portray Islam as a victim of the West by presenting an amalgam of historical events such as the Crusades and colonialism to recent military interventions in countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Mali, and Syria.

Such messaging is specifically targeted at ethnic minority populations within the West to stoke division, the DGSI said, pointing to al Qaeda tied terrorist Abu Musab al-Suri, who is said to have advocated for intentionally provoking backlash against Islam to incentivise Muslims in Europe to join the jihadist cause.

An example of the use of victim mentality to justify terrorist attacks pointed to by the report was a 2020 call from al Qaeda-linked publication Thabat, which told adherents to use knives or vehicles as weapons against Christian churches in France over supposedly “Islamophobic” policies.

“Just as they have closed your mosques, close their churches. Just as they attack you and insult your prophet, take revenge and slaughter them,” the radical outlet commanded.

A French-language ISIS magazine, Dar al-Islam, similarly called on followers in 2015 to attack Christian churches to “instil fear in their hearts.”

The French report also quoted former ISIS spokesman, Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, as saying: “We will conquer your Rome, break your crosses, and enslave your women… They will sell your sons in the slave market.”

Groups like al Qaeda and ISIS frequently brand Christians as followers of a “deviant faith”, “unbelievers”, “idolaters”, or “infidels”, the DGSI said.

Such rhetoric has resulted in numerous terror attacks in Europe and the rest of the world on Christians over the past three decades, the report found.

Most recently, a wheelchair-bound Iraqi Christian refugee, Ashur Sarnaya, was killed in a stabbing in the French city of Lyon in September. At the time of his killing, allegedly by an Algerian national, Sarnaya was live-streaming on TikTok to promote Christianity.

Over the past ten years alone, France has experienced nearly 70 Islamist terror attacks, 19 of which were fatal. Additionally, police managed to foil at least 80 more Islamist terror plots in the country.

Meanwhile, a report this month from the Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians in Europe (OIDAC Europe) found that France experienced the most anti-Christian attacks of any nation in Europe over the past year, and recorded a “disproportionately high number of incidents with an Islamist background.”
