Whether naive or ignorant, leaving apathy aside, modern man associates the notion of “slavery” with either Roman households and gladiatorial games or plantation management in the South. For the older generations, moral education found dramatic support in the TV series “Roots” (1977). By now, only a few have personally experienced the division of public transportation and benches, etc. by “color” — a shameful reminiscence of slavery and racial discrimination.

We have been taught in school that slavery is evil. As written in the U.S. Declaration of Independence (1776), “all men are created equal”. Of course, nobody should own another man in the same way that he owns a horse or a cow. It is fundamentally incompatible with a Christian attitude towards life. Judging human dignity based on skin color is as immoral as it is stupid. So far, so good.

In the context of a post-Soviet Marxist revival, however, dramatically reinforced by the George Floyd affair, which elevated a habitual criminal to martyrdom, “white” Westerners have been pressured to do penance in recent decades. As if personally responsible for decisions made by those in power centuries ago, they are expected to tolerate “reciprocal discrimination” presented as “positive action” and make reparations for sins of the past. If they stand up for themselves and protest against revisionist absurdities, they risk being accused of “privilege blindness”, etc. (Marxist conspiracy theorists traditionally allude to oppressive “structures” into which only the ideologically initiated have full insight.)

Like bestial, cruel, and undignified treatment of our fellow men in general, slavery in one form or another has been prevalent as far back as our annals go. Even today, old-style slavery is widespread in certain parts of the world. In terms of numbers, however, there have never been more slaves in the world than in the twentieth century — long after the abolition of slavery in the U.S. during the 19th century.

Nobody in their right mind would haunt modern-day Italians with accusations of having exploited neighboring peoples, such as the French, as slaves. However, none of those, who are busy accusing the West of “inherited (collective) guilt” in connection with the eighteenth-century slave trade, take the trouble to address the current situation in Africa where slaves are traded along the same lines as 300 years ago.

In our time, when “The 1619 Project” was born, American school children know practically nothing about the victims of communism. For them, Che Guevara is the epitome of a “cool” rebel, whose iconic silhouette they love to wear on their T-shirts, as opposed to a cold-blooded killer in the ranks of “revolutionary” psychopaths. And few college students can barely account for the heinous crimes of Nazism. Indeed, indoctrinated by both news and social media, many have difficulty recognizing Jews as genocide “victims” rather than “executioners” because of the long-standing conflict with Muslims in the Middle East.

Why this obsession with, not the slavery of “Islamic warlords”, nor that of “KZ-camp Nazis” or “Gulag Bolsheviks”, but the transatlantic slave trade of eighteenth century America which ended more than 150 years ago?

Expectedly, persistent accusations against the West are not made by anybody. They originate from its sworn enemies. Strictly speaking, these anti-Western forces are the spiritual heirs of both Marxist mass murderers and large-scale slaveholders. Forget the claims about the fight for “social justice”. It is all emotional manipulation on the part of Marxists. Ideological zombies by choice, marching back and forth in our streets, their real purpose is to bring the West to its knees. They criticize not to improve, but to destroy. Notably, they have nothing against slavery as such, agreed with the need to contain and neutralize “reactionary forces”, but everything against the West.

Slavery of the past as a “moral indictment” is simply another propaganda tool in political strategy. Hijacked by Marxists, the “cause of the oppressed” is as hypocritical as any other ingredient of “totalitarian narrativism” since the beginning of the twentieth century.

Apparently neglected, because it poses an ideological taboo, the twentieth century saw the rise of the most powerful slave empires the world has ever known: Soviet Russia, Nazi Germany, and Communist China.

Totalitarianism has proven to be inextricably intertwined, not only with “arbitrary trials and executions”, but also with “systematized slavery” — the exploitation of men as livestock resources to be consumed at will. Altogether, playing on credulity, human perversion reaches no greater heights than in totalitarianism.

From the moment that Lenin took over the Kremlin, wholesale massacres and slavery began. The Gulag archipelago became the “freezing inferno” of modernity, the burial ground for untold millions of slaves, political prisoners deprived of their humanity.

Neither Soviet Russia nor Communist China is in danger of being accused of the sins of slavery, because they were not involved in the export of slaves from the coasts of Africa. Incidentally, Arab and Ottoman Muslims also go free, although they could be responsible for far greater slave trade (e.g. trans-Saharan, Crimean, and Barbary) and slaveholding than Europeans and Americans combined.

The notorious “Generalplan Ost”, a Nazi vision with historical roots in the nationalist “Drang nach Osten”, was a sickening manifestation of ideological delusion and evil. It envisaged Germanic colonization of Eastern Europe and Russia west of the Urals, based on a premise of racial superiority and natural right to “Lebensraum” at the expense of other peoples. Amounting to a prepared “genocide”, industrial-style plans, apart from “Wehrbauer” settlements, included enslavement, expulsion, and extermination of both Jews and Slavs.

As soon as the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was broken, Nazis displayed an unbridled abuse of Russians, whom they considered “Untermenschen” without claim to dignity, deluded by racist dogmas of Aryanism. In contrast, Bolsheviks were literally prepared to enslave and massacre anybody without regard to ethnicity. The loyalty of the individual citizen to the party mattered less than the capricious intrigue that permeated the organization from top to bottom. As the great purges revealed, nobody could feel safe in the long run. — At the hands of anti-Christian, totalitarian ideologies, alternately Bolshevik and Nazi, Russians have suffered in the twentieth century like few others in the world.

The truth is that for decades — both before and after the fall of Nazism — Bolsheviks operated a slave system with “terror” as the principal weapon. Since then, Maoists have followed suit. In moral terms, Bolsheviks and Maoists have no advantage over Nazis — unless “racism” as an ideological, explicit motive is made the ultimate measure of evil.

In the footsteps of Young Turks, who exterminated Armenians, Greeks, and Assyrians under cover of WWI, Stalin used WWII as a pretext for deportations of entire peoples (e.g. Crimean Tatars) — resulting in millions of deaths. There was no limit to his social engineering. A vengeful tyrant and untroubled killer, he was as revolutionary as anybody.

Maoists have advanced in a similar way in Tibet and Xinjiang where presently hundreds of thousands are held as forced-labor slaves in so-called “education camps”.

In totalitarian states, the life of the individual citizen belongs to somebody other than himself. Like Africans on antebellum plantations, he is deprived of his right to self-determination. Whatever the rhetoric of “official propaganda”, he remains the property of the state. Without restrictions, he is a slave proper. Everybody except the tyrant himself is in reality a slave. 

If the slave resists and demands his freedom, he is punished. And when he tries to escape from slavery, the slave owners send their dogs and guns after him. In the end, his choice is between submission and death. That was also the essence of Kunta Kinte’s reluctant realization in “Roots”.

In summary, there are ideological reasons for political activists to target the West while turning a blind eye to crimes committed on a much larger scale by their own political allies in Soviet Russia and Communist China — not to mention Muslims of the caliphates. Basically, everything useful in the war against Western civilization will be weaponized. The anti-democratic enemy is opportunistic.

Whether you are a “decent man” never depends on your skin color, gender or age, but the thoughts and feelings that guide your actions among your fellow men. It is that simple.

A confidential report by a senior French immigration official has warned that Afghan migration to France is posing deep and growing challenges to the country’s ability to integrate newcomers, raising serious concerns over cultural incompatibility, education deficits, and a disturbing overrepresentation in criminal activity.

The note, written by Didier Leschi, head of the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFII), was published exclusively by Le Point, and exposes the social cost of mass immigration from the Middle Eastern country over the past decade.

Afghans now make up one of the 10 largest foreign nationalities with residence permits in France. More than 100,000 Afghans live in the country today, with their arrival dating back to the first waves in 2015, well before the Taliban returned to power in Kabul. “The subject is not so much the number of Afghans welcomed as the speed with which people who are very far from us culturally and linguistically have arrived, and which reveals the limits of our reception model,” Leschi wrote.

The report states that many of the Afghans coming to France are not fleeing political persecution by the Taliban but are part of a broader movement of economic migration. “We welcome people who were not necessarily hostile to the Taliban, but who have fled economic difficulties,” Leschi noted, highlighting that per capita GDP in Afghanistan is 100 times lower than in the EU. He added that, as countries like Iran and Pakistan continue to expel hundreds of thousands of Afghans, Europe has become the next destination, and within Europe, France is among the most generous. In 2024, nearly 80 percent of Afghan asylum applicants were granted protection in France, compared to just 40 percent in Sweden.

One of the most concerning findings in the report is the extreme gender imbalance. Between 2015 and 2024, 85 percent of Afghan asylum seekers in France were men. Women account for less than 18 percent of all Afghans in France who have a residence permit. Leschi explained that this reflects not only practical realities, such as restrictions on Afghan women traveling alone, but also cultural norms that subordinate women and exclude them from public life.

This gender imbalance has been a major driver of integration failure. “Young men who have been granted asylum find it difficult to integrate the norms of civility governing relations between men and women,” the report stated. Leschi added that in the OFII, where the majority of staff are women, “male-female interactions with Afghans are complex. There is a problem of recognition, of acceptance.”

These issues are compounded by poor education levels. Over 40 percent of Afghan arrivals have never attended school, and many cannot read or write even in their own language. Unsurprisingly, 57 percent remain unemployed 18 months after completing their initial integration program, and only half reach even a basic A1 level of French.

But it is the data on crime that is the most concerning. Citing German figures, the report noted that Afghans — who make up just 0.5 percent of the population — are five times more likely to be accused of criminal offenses and 21 times more likely to be implicated in the sexual abuse of minors. The report attributed part of this to “cultural violence inculcated in the relationship between men and women.” It also noted that in Afghanistan, underage marriage is widespread, with up to 65 percent of girls in some rural areas married before 18.

The note acknowledged there had been some success stories, particularly among Afghan women who do manage to resettle, but Leschi was clear that these are exceptions. “It’s not enough to say: The country is dangerous, people are coming, and that’s normal,” he wrote.

He also warned that France’s approach to integration, based on optional language classes and dispersing asylum seekers across the country, is lacking both structure and firmness. Refugees are allowed to refuse courses, and many end up isolated in medium-sized towns where social ties are difficult to establish. This isolation feeds what Leschi describes as “the community logic of confinement,” making assimilation all the more unlikely.

A trans-identified pedophile has avoided prison for a second time because of his “identity,” despite breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that was in place due to his previous child sex offenses.

Peter Selby, 71, first appeared in court in June of 2022 and was found guilty on three counts of making indecent images of children, and one count of possessing extreme pornography. The sex offender had a stash of 125,000 disturbing child sexual abuse images and videos on his computer, some of which featured children as young as three-years-old, and at least one featuring an adult engaging in bestaility. He had previously been sent to prison for four months in 1992, after being convicted on two counts of indecent assault.

Despite the fact that the judge at the time could have sentenced him to a maximum of 10 years in prison for his crimes, he instead received a slap on the wrist sentence of just 14 months, to be suspended for two years. The judge claimed that if Selby, who identified as transgender, was put in prison, the “impact of custody would be significant” for him, thus she determined he was safer living in the community, where he was determined by a pre-sentencing report to be “manageable.”

Along with his suspended sentence, Selby was placed on the sex offenders register and made to sign a SHPO, stopping him from using any in-private browsing on his computer, or downloading VPN software that could hide his crimes, for the next 10 years. The lenient sentence prompted outrage at the time, prompting Conservative peer Baroness Nicholson to call for a review. She condemned the decision as representative of a “disregard” for child safety and speculated whether the judge had “overlooked” matters of child protection. Despite the uproar, Selby’s sentence remained suspended.

But less than a year later, in March of 2023, police visited Selby’s home to conduct a risk review, and discovered that Selby had downloaded VPN software intended to conceal his internet activity. Selby pled guilty to a breach of his SHPO, and appeared in front of Judge Robert Adams, wearing lipstick and with visible fake breasts, at Newcastle Crown Court on Tuesday.

Selby claimed that he had health difficulties, including problems with his memory, and told the court that he had no memory of downloading the VPN software to his laptop. No new child sexual abuse images were discovered on his laptop.

“A VPN had been downloaded, which was active and could be used to mask internet identity or IP address when accessing sites on the internet,” Judge Adams said. “For obvious reasons, bearing in mind your previous convictions, that was a requirement of the SHPO, to make it difficult, if you were tempted, to re-offend in the way you had before.”

Even though Adams found he breached the SHPO, Selby’s transgender status enabled him to stay out of custody again.

“You have been wearing women’s clothing for the last 30 years,” Adams said. “Your family has distanced themselves from you as a result. You have no history of drug use and no drinking since 2013,” he continued. Because Selby had not offended again in the last two years, and that he would “undoubtedly be at risk of physical or sexual assault in custody because of [his] presentation in a male prison,” he got off with a 10 month sentence, suspended for 18 months, along with a £100 fine and rehabilitation program requirements.

This is not the first time a trans-identified male pedophile has been allowed to walk free in the United Kingdom.

As previously reported by Reduxx, a trans-identified male who was convicted of possessing horrific child abuse material, some of which was in the most severe classification, was spared jail time after the court stated he was “cooperative” during proceedings. Tanya Howes, 66, was allowed to walk free despite living adjacent to a children’s park.

Howes pleaded guilty in May of 2023 to three counts of “possessing indecent photographs of a child” and a separate charge for possessing 100 “extreme” and “grossly offensive” pornographic images and videos. Of the images in Howes’ possession, 29 were classified as Category C, 17 as Category B, and 39 as Category A, which is the most serious type of child sexual abuse media. Images and video in this category can depict penetrative sexual activity, bestiality, and/or sexual sadism.

The Eastern Daily Press, which referred to Howes by “she/her” pronouns, reported that the Norwich Magistrates Court acknowledged that some of the children in the photos possessed by Howes were being subjected to “horrific acts.”

Despite the severity of the crime, the magistrates decided to allow Howes to remain free in the community as they handed him a 12 month suspended jail term.

Berlin Administrative Court has ruled that rejecting asylum seekers at Germany’s borders was unlawful without following the Dublin Regulation procedure.

The ruling marked a serious defeat for Germany’s new Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

The court clarified that asylum seekers must not be turned away without adhering to the Dublin Regulation, an European Union rule that determines which member state was responsible for processing an asylum application — typically the first EU country the applicant entered.

This regulation was designed to prevent multiple asylum applications across different countries and ensure swift access to asylum procedures.

Three Somali nationals — two men and one woman — sued the German Government after being sent back to Poland.

On May 9, they had been returned to Poland from Frankfurt under new government rules.

Interior minister Alexander Dobrindt of the Christian Democrat Party (CDU) had introduced stricter border controls upon taking office in early May, including rejecting asylum seekers at the borders.

The three Somalis were checked by the Federal Police and returned to Poland on the same day on the grounds they had entered from a safe third country.

According to the Administrative Court, their rejection was unlawful. Since the three had expressed their desire for asylum, they had to be allowed to cross the border, but not necessarily without restrictions.

Under the Dublin procedure, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees should verify which state is responsible for the asylum procedure.

In most cases, that was the European country to which those affected first travelled.

The German Government could not invoke the fact that the Dublin Regulation did not have to be applied in the case of an emergency, the court explained. It could not base the rejections on an exception and the risk of danger to public safety or order had not been demonstrated.

According to the regulation, it was possible to carry out the procedure at the border or within the border area without necessarily having to be associated with an entry permit. According to the court, the decisions were incontestable.

Marcel Emmerich, domestic policy spokesman for the Greens in the Bundestag, or parliament, told German newspaper Die Welt that the border rejections were a bad idea and should be ended.

“Dobrindt’s symbolic politics laid bare: A blatant violation of the law,” Emmerich said.  “What is sold as a strength is a dangerous blind flight on the backs of those seeking protection, emergency services and the idea of a united Europe.”

The Greens have been warning for months that “the Union and SPD are running into a breach of the law with their eyes wide open and that is exactly what seems to be the case now”.

Günter Krings, deputy chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag, told Die Welt: “This ruling, from a first-instance court’s interim legal protection, stems from a preliminary review.”

He noted that while the decision must be respected in this specific case, it lacked broader impact and should not be overstated. Krings added that many prominent lawyers disagreed with the Berlin Administrative Court’s assessment of the issue.

“I think it is right to interpret European law according to its meaning and purpose, and therefore consider the rejections to be permissible,” he said.

“Therefore, I do not think it is necessary for the Ministry of the Interior to change its moderate practice at our borders.”

Migration has been a key issue in the latest German elections, fuelling the election victory of the Right.

The CDU, though, soon joined up with the Left to form a coalition government, turning its back on most of its election promises.

Returning migrants at the border was one of the few policy changes Merz had moved to implement.

An article published on the TSA Algeria website reports on an incident in Blida, Algeria, in which a French-Algerian woman was attacked by neighbours who accused her of practising witchcraft. According to witnesses, the attack occurred after the woman was suspected of casting a spell, which led to a violent confrontation. A video of the incident, which went viral on social media, shows the crying victim lamenting the attack against her. The event sparked fierce responses online, with internet users expressing outrage at the violence and superstitious accusations. The article also points to the tense situation surrounding the belief in witchcraft in Algeria, where such accusations can sometimes lead to violence. The local authorities have not yet officially commented on the incident.

According to witness statements reported by the Echorouk newspaper on Monday June 2, the woman had started reading the Koran while waiting for her daughter. As she did not speak Arabic very well, she had translated terms from the holy book on sheets of paper to better understand the verses.
As she was wearing a niqab, she aroused the suspicion of some of the people present at the scene, who approached her to find out what she was doing. And when they saw the Koran and the notes written in French on the leaves, they accused her directly of witchcraft and exorcism.

And that’s where things came to a head. While they were filming the scene, the group of men began to insult the young woman, calling her all kinds of names. Some even took off her niqab and tried to physically attack her.

One of them said: “These are all magical charms”. The crowd grew visibly larger and insults were shouted everywhere, while the unfortunate young woman begged her attackers to give her back her niqab and tried to hide her face from the mobile phones that were filming her.

The video of this disgraceful assault quickly spread across social networks in Algeria. ‘She was almost lynched in public and her only offence was reading the Koran,’ one internet user expressed his outrage on Facebook.

A major delivery firm has come under fire from its own customers over its rainbow-themed Pride Month campaign.

DPD has rolled out a string of “delivery icons” including unicorns and rainbow flags as part of its June celebrations – sparking fury from patrons over Pride being “forced down their throats”.

One customer voiced his frustration to the Express, saying: “I just want my parcel delivered on time.

“I’m sick to death of having these special days and months pushed on us and forced down our throats!

“Why do we need a unicorn and a rainbow flag? Who actually asked for this?”

The furious patron added: “Just concentrate on delivering my parcel safely and in one piece – which, by the way, didn’t happen!”

However, the firm’s campaign has garnered support from fans of DPD’s Pride Month initiatives.

When the company implemented similar changes last year, some customers responded positively, with one writing on social media: “Well done to DPD for embracing Pride Month!”

In response to complaints on Facebook, a supporter countered: “No one is shoving anything down your throat, not everything is made specifically with you in mind. If it was a Santa sleigh for the month of December, would you complain they’re shoving Christmas down your throat?

“Let those who want to enjoy Pride Month.”

DPD has branded itself as a prominent supporter of the LGBT community – and has rolled out Pride Month campaigns every year.

This year’s initiatives include partnerships with LGBT organisations, notably collaborating with Gaydio, a radio station serving the gay community.

While the firm’s website says: “We’re proud to have one of the most diverse and inclusive teams in the country. Diversity is a strength, and for us it’s important we reflect the communities we serve.

“Our team includes people from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and experiences.”

But the move comes as businesses are turning against diversity drives around the world following Donald Trump’s return to the White House.

In April, Danish toy giant Lego quietly removed “diversity and inclusion” terminology from its official reports.

That followed the February news that the vice-chairman of Goldman Sachs announced the bank had axed a diversity rule which excluded white men.

And that came on the same day that entertainment giant Disney ditched its trigger warnings for classic cartoons such as Peter Pan and the Jungle Book.

In the United States, if Americans know anything about the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, it’s that the AfD are a bunch of Nazi-adjacent hooligans who threaten to return Germany to Hitlerism. They know this because that’s what the American media tell them. Very few will bother to go online to find the English-language version of AfD’s party platform. If they did, they would find a wealth of common sense, and proposals that sound like ordinary GOP positions, even before the Trumpening of the Republican Party.

It’s the same thing in Europe, of course. In her speech last week at CPAC Hungary, AfD leader Alice Weidel said that in Germany, “politicians fear us like no other party, and for good reason.” The reason, of course, is that AfD tells the plain truth about the various crises besieging Germany, especially those caused by mass migration and Islamization. The German establishment would rather demonize and suppress all those who notice the fracturing of their country than deal forthrightly with the problems that their own globalist ideology and managerial, authoritarian liberalism have caused. 

I don’t know, though, if Europeans understand how truly horrific things are in Germany for AfD politicians and their supporters. Last Friday, I attended a private meeting with some AfD lawmakers and party officials who were in Budapest for CPAC. 

It is one thing to read about how the German state labors to marginalize the AfD. It is quite another to hear personal stories of harassment by the state and private institutions from people who, along with family members, are suffering them. The leaked thousand-page report the German domestic intelligence service prepared to justify classifying the AfD as “extremist”—a precursor to an outright ban—features “evidence” like a tweet from an AfD member who had simply said on social media that there is nothing shameful about being a German.

This pathological fear of ordinary humans who think and feel ordinary human things has led Germany to a state of what I call “soft totalitarianism,” and indeed one that is pushing the boundaries of the hard version. 

Again, though, the media have no interest in reporting on it, and scarcely more interest in reporting on actual conditions leading populist, nationalist parties like the AfD to gain ground among European peoples.

Earlier this year, Britain’s Centre for Migration Control published a report revealing that foreign nationals are arrested for sex crimes at 3.5 times the rate of native Britons. Forty-eight nationalities present in Britain have higher arrest rates than native Brits, with five Islamic nations leading the way: Albania, Afghanistan, Iraq, Algeria, and Somalia. But the Starmer government seems far more worried about people noticing all this, and thinking bad thoughts about Muslims (“Islamophobia”), than it is about the safety of British women. 

Meanwhile, in Paris over the weekend mobs of African and Arab youths carried out two nights of fiery rampages in connection with a French team’s football victory. Two people were killed, and hundreds injured. Diversity was vigorously celebrated, with ethnic youths—one carrying the Palestinian flag—desecrating a statue of Joan of Arc. In a tweet featuring an image of the appalling display, French MEP Marion Maréchal commented, “No one can yet claim that by continuing we will move towards a bright future of peace and national cohesion. The change of trajectory is imperative and urgent.”

The mob of non-Gauls swarming atop the Joan of Arc statue symbolizes that they own the streets. It happens in less provocative ways. Recently in Brussels, a German friend told me that in her city, young Germans are now arming themselves with knives when they go out at night. They are afraid of migrant knife attacks, and have lost faith that the police can and will defend them. Ownership of the public spaces is now contested in Germany, and it is not at all clear that law-abiding Germans are holding their own. 

It is all slouching inexorably towards civil war. David Betz, the civil wars specialist at King’s College London, has been sounding the alarm. Now Betz has published in the authoritative Military Strategy Magazine a second essay on the strategic considerations European leaders must take into account in the face of the mounting civil war risk across Britain and the Continent.

Betz says that at least ten European countries face the prospect of civil war. Britain and France lead the pack, with Germany and Sweden not far behind.

From a strategic perspective, the core problem is the rise of “feral cities,” defined as “a metropolis with a population of more than a million people in a state the government of which has lost the ability to maintain the rule of law within the city’s boundaries yet remains a functioning actor in the greater international system.” These are cities, like Paris, that are home to large and restive populations of migrants, foreigners, and Muslims. 

The second factor has to do with the critical infrastructure that makes city life possible in the countryside. Native-born populations who have been driven from the cities by migrants and migrant crime may seek revenge on feral urban populations and the ruling class that permitted this intolerable situation to come about. Concludes Betz:

Putting these factors together allows one to outline the trajectory of the coming civil wars. First, the major cities become ungovernable […]. Second, these feral cities come to be seen by many of those indigenes of the titular nationality now living outside them as effectively having been lost to foreign occupation. They then directly attack the exposed city support systems with a view to causing their collapse through systemic failure.

Do not brush aside events like the desecration of national monuments by thuggish political or ethnic mobs, he warns. Betz writes that governments must now draft plans to protect significant cultural treasures if a general civil war breaks out. As extraordinary as it is to contemplate, they must also develop strategies to protect national nuclear arsenals, as the immediate successors to the Soviets had to do.

And, governments must now establish plans to establish defensible “secure zones” outside the cities, where populations can flee to safety, and some semblance of normal life can carry on during the conflict.

You might be  thinking: This is madness. It can never happen here. To this, Prof. Betz, who studies civil war as his academic specialty, strongly cautions against “normalcy bias.” The well-established indicators of coming civil war are now vividly present in various countries. 

History gives us plenty of examples of ruling-class elites who failed to read the signs of the times, and who were swept away in violent social upheavals that they did not see coming. Europe and America—even Trump’s America—is still in the grips of normalcy bias, heavily reinforced by media messaging and state policies. 

Then again, history is not fated. We still have agency. But to address the metastasizing crises, you first have to admit that the problems exist. 

Perhaps Europeans will choose surrender and submission, as the Western Roman Empire did, or had forced on it by its own feebleness in the face of the barbarian invasions. In which case, it is an open question as to which is the worse outcome: a civil war to save Europe, or no civil war at all?

Simply hoping that it doesn’t come to that is not a plan. So what is the plan? Because what Europe’s ruling class is doing is not working, and in fact is only accelerating a showdown that, if it comes, will quickly grow bloody, and beyond anyone’s ability to control. The persecuted politicians of AfD strike me as German patriots. They are also canaries in the European coal mine.

A Moroccan national has been sentenced to six years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor during his employment as an educator at a juvenile center.

The Provincial Court of Murcia found that the 31-year-old man picked up the girl in his car and drove her to a remote field, where they had sexual intercourse. Although the court acknowledged that the act may have appeared consensual, it emphasized that under Spanish law, a person under 16 cannot legally consent to sex, making the act a criminal offense.

In other legal jurisdictions, the offense is known as statutory rape, although it is not referred to by that exact term in Spanish law.

As reported by La Opinión de Murcia, the incident occurred in March 2021 but was only resolved this year with a final court ruling. After returning to her residential facility, the victim confided in a classmate, who reported the incident to other educators. The man was immediately transferred from his role the following day.

In addition to his prison sentence, the man will serve five years of supervised probation after his release. He is prohibited from approaching the victim for six years and banned from working in any capacity involving regular contact with minors for 11 years.

He is not understood to be subject to deportation proceedings.

The convicted man had worked at the juvenile facility as both an educator and a translator. He denied the charges, claiming he was never alone with the girl and suggesting there was always a security guard nearby. He further alleged that the girl and another minor had harassed him, made inappropriate remarks, and touched him. According to his testimony, when he punished them, they responded with threats: “Son of a bitch, we are going to make you suffer for your whole life.”

He also claimed that the girl later told him, “If you don’t do anything to me, I’m going to fuck up your life.”

However, the court sided with the victim’s account. She testified that she met the man during the Covid-19 lockdown while living in the center. After she moved to a sheltered apartment, they exchanged phone numbers and began speaking on WhatsApp. She said they agreed to meet in person, and the man picked her up from Murcia’s bus station.

Before driving to a field, he reportedly asked her to “swear to her mother” that she would not report what they were about to do. In the field, the victim said, they had full sexual intercourse.

The girl also explained that when she first told a friend about the encounter, she might have downplayed its seriousness because she thought she was in love. Over time, she realized she had been manipulated and pressured, a realization that became clear when she turned 17 and began dealing with the psychological consequences.

In its judgment, the court noted the coercive nature of the relationship and the power imbalance between the adult and the minor, noting how the defendant had “transmitted frankness and conviction” in his dealings with the child.

Data from the Spanish interior ministry reported by La Gaceta in February revealed that over 5,400 Moroccans are currently incarcerated in Spain, accounting for 29.5 percent of the foreign prison population.

Moroccans are by far the largest group of foreign inmates in Spanish prisons.

Brussels, the self-proclaimed capital of the European Union, is no longer the beacon of a united Europe, but an advanced symptom of its disintegration. For the past 15 years, the signs of a deep crisis — political paralysis, an explosion in crime, fiscal bankruptcy, the rise of Islamism and migratory engulfment — have been piling up, heralding an inevitable tipping point.

The normalization of radical Islamic and anti-Semitic discourse we are witnessing in Brussels is the result of 15 years of leaders abrogating their responsibility. Brussels, through its inability — or unwillingness — to make unpleasant but necessary choices, is setting itself up as the first potential locus of protracted European unrest. Even Politico recognizes the scale of the problem. The only question is: When will the Belgian state recognize the failure of a society that has given up on governing itself according to a common law?

1. Structural political paralysis

Almost a year after the regional elections of June 2024, the Brussels-Capital Regional Parliament has yet to produce a governing majority. The traditional parties such as the Socialist Party (PS), the Reformist Movement (MR) and Open VLD – are bogged down in fruitless negotiations, unable to overcome their ideological differences and their fear of offending the different factions of their electorates.

The PS, openly Islamized, refuse any agreement with the centrist parties, preferring to ally itself with the Islamist Team Fouad Ahidar (TFA), a party founded in 2024 by Ahidar, a politician of Moroccan descent who has been a member of the Brussels parliament since 2004, previously representing the PS. The marxist Workers’ Party of Belgium (PTB), with 16.1% of the vote in Brussels in 2024, also allies itself with TFA.

TFA embodies a new situation: a political Islam that no longer hides its identity. Instead, it advocates that a religious identity be the underpinning of national cohesion. This fragmentation reflects a profound breakdown in the social contract, between the old European society, which confines religion to the private sphere, and the “new Europeans” (Muslims), who want everything to be subject to their religious doctrine.

Georges-Louis Bouchez, president of the center-right MR, has warned that alliances with forces such as the PTB and the Islamist TFA are “undermining the foundations of liberal democracy.”

The paralysis in the government deprives Brussels of any capacity to deal with the crises that are fast piling up.

2. Endemic crime, the result of a failing state

Crime rates are rising everywhere in Brussels, particularly in an area in the spotlight for its frequent shootings: the Bruxelles-Midi Zone (Saint-Gilles, Forest, Anderlecht). Between 2022 and 2023, notes the newspaper L’Echo, robberies and extortion rose by 23%, robberies without weapons by 34%, pickpocketing by 27%, and armed robberies by a staggering 53%. This area is home to five of Brussels’ 15 drug-trafficking “hot spots.”

The Bruxelles-Midi zone therefore unsurprisingly suffers from a severe shortage of police officers — 20% of positions remain unfilled — mainly due to major recruitment difficulties. The reason: the high level of crime.

Districts such as Molenbeek, Schaerbeek and Anderlecht have become places where the lack of security is a life-threatening reality, marked by assaults, drug trafficking, shootings and clashes between gangs.

The murder of a police officer, Thomas Montjoie, on November 10, 2022 in Schaerbeek by Yassine Mahi, an Islamist who had telegraphed his intention to attack police officers on social networks, sparked a deep anger within the police force. Days later, thousands of police officers demonstrated outside the Palais de Justice in Brussels to denounce the absence of both security and any judicial action in the face of violent radicalization.

These failures are, as they say, just the tip of the iceberg: the Belgian justice system releases multi-recidivist delinquents and jihadists. In May 2025, not for the first time, riots involving “youth gangs” rocked several communities. Vehicles were set on fire along with countless attacks on police. The inability to restore law and order has been transforming entire neighborhoods into enclaves where Belgian law no longer applies, and foreshadows their balkanization into Islamic no-go-zones.

3. Inevitable bankruptcy

The Brussels-Capital Region is not merely on the brink of bankruptcy; it is already at the bottom of a financial abyss. In 2024, the regional government’s revenues amounted to €5.69 billion, while expenditures reached €6.99 billion euros — a deficit of more than 20%. Public debt exceeded €10 billion—a staggering 300% of annual revenue — for a city of just 1.1 million inhabitants.

This situation, compounded by decades of government hand-outs — subsidies to community associations, ill-targeted social programs and chaotic management of infrastructure (the roads in Brussels are notoriously the worst maintained in Europe) — makes bankruptcy imminent. Public services, such as transportation, schools and hospitals, are deteriorating, while dependence on federal transfers of money exposes Brussels to systemic risk. If civil servants’ salaries or social benefits, which support 30% of Brussels households, were to be suspended, social anger, already seen in recurrent demonstrations, could turn into widespread insurrection.

4. The seemingly unstoppable rise of Islam and anti-Semitism – for the simple reason that no one is stopping them or even trying to

In 2024, Team Fouad Ahidar, driven by Islamic doctrines, achieved significant electoral success, winning three seats in the Brussels-Capital Regional Parliament. Ahidar, who advocates a Muslim identity ahead of any national allegiance, embodies the emergence of an uncomplicated political Islam.

“Fouad Ahidar is a proven pro-Hamas and anti-Semitic figure who served as a member of parliament in Brussels for twenty years,” notes Claude Moniquet, a retired journalist and former French intelligence agent.

Ahidar represents only a small part of the wave of antisemitism in Brussels. Jew-hatred, often marketed in unconvincing, transparent disguises as “anti-Zionism,” flourishes in many other Islamic-centered and radical left-wing circles. In 2023 alone, anti-Semitic incidents in Belgium — including physical assaults and vandalizing synagogues — rose by 65%, mainly in Brussels and Antwerp.

After Hamas’s Iranian-backed invasion of Israel on October 7, 2023, many of Brussels’ elected representatives made speeches on the “Palestinian resistance”, while others denounced “the barbarity of the terrorist state of Israel”. In Brussels, the Islamically-inspired terrorist organization Samidoun was still well established, even though it had already been banned in several European countries, including Germany. In short, in Brussels, Jew-hatred enjoys almost total impunity.

5. An uncontrolled flood of migrants

For the past decade, Brussels has been under immigration pressures unparalleled in Europe. As of 2023, 74% of Brussels’ population is of foreign background, compared to a European average of 10%. In areas such as Molenbeek, the proportion reaches 86%. This demographic transformation or “great replacement,” far from being accompanied by an effective integration policy, has saturated Brussels –– overcrowded schools, overwhelmed hospitals, sorely inadequate housing — and exacerbated communal tensions.

In 2022, a report revealed that 35% of young people with an immigrant background in Brussels were living in households where nobody has a job — a breeding ground for delinquency and radicalization. Immigration flows, fed by clandestine people-smuggling networks by way of Turkey and North Africa, continue to expand, while reception centers for “asylum seekers” are already full. The 2015-2016 jihad attacks in Paris (130 murdered) and Brussels (32 murdered), by Muslims radicalized in neighborhoods such as Molenbeek, revealed the consequences of Europe’s lax immigration policy. The Belgian authorities, and Brussels in particular, seem to have learned nothing.

Prognosis: Imminent uprisings

Brussels is not only a city in crisis, it is a city on the brink of implosion. The convergence of political paralysis, the disintegration of law and order, budgetary bankruptcy, Islamist sectarianism, Jew-hatred and uncontrolled immigration mark a slippery slope toward violence and chaos. Military intervention, as a desperate response to uncontrollable unrest, might eventually be needed. On that day, the globalist elites, who have turned a blind eye to so many signals, will bear responsibility for a disaster they could have prevented. Brussels, far from being an isolated case, is a small mirror of a Europe that is faltering.
