France: ‘I thought I was going to die’ — Moroccan migrant with 15 previous convictions found guilty of raping woman he met on carpooling app

A migrant from Morocco stood trial in France on Monday on suspicion of raping a young woman returning to her parent’s home with whom he had arranged to carpool on the popular BlaBlaCar app.

The Corrèze Criminal Court heard the plight of a 23-year-old known as Julie, who told the court about how she had suffered at the hands of 30-year-old Redouane Er Rachdy, a Moroccan and French dual-national with a long rap sheet dating back to when he was a minor.

The incident occurred on Jan. 18, 2022, when the victim had arranged through the carpooling app to travel from Toulouse, where she was a business school student, to her parent’s home in Clermont-Ferrand — just over a four-hour drive.

The victim told the court how she was picked up by the defendant shortly after 3.30 p.m., around two hours later than had been agreed, and they set off north to her destination.

Although the app had listed multiple other passengers who were due to share the journey with them, the defendant turned up in the vehicle on his own, immediately making Julie feel uncomfortable and vulnerable.

Her fears grew shortly into the journey when Er Rachdy veered off the highway to make a detour through the Minimes district where he explained he needed to pick up a package. At the same time, the defendant was regularly fielding calls from someone who transpired to be his ex-partner, Alexia, demanding he return the vehicle to her apartment, as it was a rental in her name and she feared it would be reported stolen since it was overdue.

The situation turned sour still when Er Rachdy told the young woman that he needed to deliver the package to Limoges — a considerable 230-kilometer detour from her destination. After Julie protested, the defendant backed down and claimed he would leave it in a safe place halfway along the route and return for it later.

At approximately 7 p.m., the defendant turned off the highway again and drove around an hour down rural roads in the dark until they reached a disused stone barn in the small village of Vigeois. He deposited the package and sought to set off when he told Julie he had misplaced the keys to the vehicle.

After searching around for the keys, Julie located them under the trunk and hoped to get back on the road, but the defendant claimed to be suffering from an anxiety attack and couldn’t restart the journey.

The victim told the court how Er Rachdy demanded oral sex from her “to calm him down,” and when she refused he turned into a “demon,” confiscating her phone and grabbing her “by the neck with both hands.”

“He strangled me until I could no longer breathe,” the court heard as the victim also accused the defendant of punching her on the arm and the back of the head.

“He told me that he had a knife, that he was going to slit my throat, and that he had nothing to lose,” Julie recalled. “We were in the middle of nowhere and it was pitch black. I didn’t even know if there were any houses around. I told myself that he was going to catch up with me,” she added, explaining she was too frightened to run.

She said she felt compelled to perform oral sex on her assailant to stay alive. “For me, fellatio was to survive, I felt like I had no choice. I said to myself: ‘I don’t know what he’s capable of.’ I thought I was going to die here.”

Afterward, Julie explained how she felt “paralyzed” and numb but the defendant “acted as if nothing had happened” and set off on their journey. Before too long, the victim was dumped at a motorway rest area in the middle of the night and taunted her, saying, “What are you going to do now? Call the cops?”

In considerable distress, the victim broke down in tears and called her mother before knocking on residential doors for help.

An elderly woman who assisted her and called the police on her behalf took to the stand in court and corroborated Julie’s story.

Upon their arrival, the authorities noted the red marks on the victim’s throat and wrists in line with her testimony, and Er Rachdy’s DNA was found on her body.

During cross-examination, the defendant claimed that the sexual act was consensual and that Julie had been hugging him and kissing him at the barn and offered him masturbation “but her hands were cold so she gave me oral sex.”

He accounted for the marks on Julie’s body by claiming they had been in a car accident. He accused the victim of fabricating her story, perhaps due to regret, and suggested that “she should be the one who goes to prison.”

However, Er Rachdy’s ex-girlfriend also testified in court, accusing him of pulling her hair and grabbing her throat in previous instances when she refused to perform oral sex on him, another allegation the defendant denied.

In another twist for which little explanation was offered, the vehicle used in the attack was seen on CCTV arriving at a friend’s house of the defendant later that evening. Six minutes after it arrived, a fire broke out and the car was destroyed.

The court heard how the Moroccan national had arrived in France at the age of 6 under family reunification laws following the migration of his father. After leaving school at 16, he became involved in drugs and racked up 15 separate convictions before his arrest for rape.

His previous offenses included aggravated theft and violence, driving without a license, refusal to comply, hit-and-run, drug consumption, arson, fraud, and breach of trust.

The carpool company BlaBlaCar was questioned at the time of the arrest on why a user with such an extensive criminal record was allowed to use the app, to which it replied that criminal background checks were not carried out upon users registering on their site.

On Tuesday, five magistrates found Er Rachdy guilty of rape and sentenced him to eight years in prison. His lawyer announced his intention to appeal the decision.

Transgender Muslim Inmate Serving 55-Year Sentence For Killing A Baby Launches Discrimination Lawsuit After Being Denied A Hijab

A trans-identified male currently serving a 55-year sentence for the murder of his infant stepdaughter has launched a lawsuit against the Chaplain at his prison after he was allegedly denied a hijab despite identifying as a Muslim woman. Autumn Cordellioné, previously known as Jonathan C. Richardson, is seeking $150,000 in damages.

As previously reported by Reduxx, Cordellioné was first arrested in 2001 after his 11-month-old stepdaughter died in his care while her mother was at work. The night of the infant’s death, Cordellioné had been visited by friends who later told police that he had been “acting strangely.”

Despite claiming the little girl was inside sleeping, Cordellioné had loud music playing in the home, and his guests noted that he appeared to have a fresh, bleeding tattoo of the child’s name carved into his arm.

Later that night, after his friends left, Cordellioné went to his neighbor and asked him to call 911, claiming the child was unresponsive. When emergency personnel arrived, they were briefly able to resuscitate the girl, but she died shortly after being rushed to the hospital.

Cordellioné was interviewed by police, who noted he was “calm and unemotional” during questioning, and his story about what happened to the baby changed dramatically over the course of the two interviews conducted.

At first, Cordellioné claimed he found the baby unresponsive after doing some household chores. But in the next interview, Cordellioné said the child was being “fussier than usual” and he attempted to throw her up in the air repeatedly in an effort to calm her down. He said her “head bopped forward and back up in a rough type of a manner,” and that the child continued to cry so he proceeded to shake her aggressively in an effort to calm her down.

During a failed appeals hearing, detectives from the case recounted how Cordellioné “physically showed” how he had manhandled the girl, getting up out of his chair and demonstrating the action in a rough manner.

An autopsy subsequently found that the baby had died of asphyxiation by manual strangulation. Cordellioné was booked awaiting a court hearing, and would later tell a prison official “all I know is I killed the little fucking bitch.”

Cordellioné was found guilty and sentenced to 55 years in prison for the horrific crime. He is currently incarcerated at the Branchville Correctional Facility, an institution for male offenders.

Last August, Cordellioné joined forces with the American Civil Liberties Union to sue the Indiana Department of Corrections, citing “discrimination” on the basis of his gender identity. That case is currently in progress.

But Reduxx has now learned that that Cordellioné has also launched a separate suit against the prison’s Chaplain, Tony Gray. Gray has been a Chaplain at the facility since 2014, and volunteered at the institution prior to being offered an official role.

In the lawsuit, filed on November 3, 2023, Cordellioné accuses Gray of violating his First, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendment constitutional rights.

According to court records obtained by Reduxx, the incident of complaint took place in May of 2023 after Gray informed Cordellioné that he was not allowed to don a hijab outside of his cell. In response, Cordellioné said: “I wear the hijab in order to cover my head and ears for modesty purposes, as I am an Islamic practicing transwoman.”

At the time, Cordellioné’s registered religion was “Wiccan” and Gray pointed that out, to which Cordellioné replied that he was an “eclectic practitioner who is a member of the Theosophical Society in America.”

The Theosophical Society is headquartered in Chennai, India, and is considered an “esoteric new religious movement.” Founded in 1875, it describes itself as a “unsectarian body of seekers after Truth,” and its practitioners appear to dabble in the philosophy and beliefs of multiple religions simultaneously. One of its founders is Russian mystic Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, who stated in 1889 that “the purpose of establishing the Society was to prepare humanity for the reception of a World Teacher.”

Cordellioné is claiming that his equal protection rights were violated when he was barred from wearing a hijab outside of his cell, noting that male Muslims in the facility are allowed to wear kufis or taqiyah — a short, rounded brimless prayer cap.

“Islamic faith mandates the wearing of a kufi for males … Islamic faith also mandates females of the faith wear hijabs when outside the home and when not amongst men of their family. Tony Gray allows male Muslims to wear their sufis, but denies me, a transwoman, the same privilege.”

From the legal complaint filed by Cordellioné.

Cordellioné also alleges that Gray’s refusal to allow him to wear a hijab violated his eighth amendment rights against cruel and unusual punishment. In his argument, Cordellioné claims the he was subjected to “harassment and ridicule” by the Islamic community in his prison because he had not been allowed to wear a hijab.

“[Gray] should be aware, as Chaplain, the stigma and shame that is attributed to Islamic women when they go uncovered and without a hijab,” Cordellioné writes in his complaint. “Women are viewed as whores, tempters of men, and adulterators; by Islamic society both in and out of prison. I have been shunned, made a social pariah, and amongst my own religious community.”

He continues: “Without the support of the Islamic community, I will struggle and likely fail to achieve salvation for by [sic] Mohammed’s teachings a Muslim who knows of the teachings, yet strays from them, will never reach heaven.”

In his stated request for relief, Cordellioné is seeking the ability to wear his hijab in prison, as well as $150,000 in compensation.

Since filing, there has been some back-and-forth with the court surrounding Cordellioné’s financial situation, with the court requesting a nominal initial filing fee of $36.55, but Cordellioné claiming he does not have the money to pay it. If he cannot demonstrate deficiency in the time the court has specified, his case might be dismissed.

Experts: It Will Be Too Cold Because of Global Warming

The global warming hoax may seem farcical on the surface, but it is resilient. Someone points out that it is based on scientific fraud? Sue the unbeliever for $1 million. The climate gets colder instead of warmer? Have the Experts proclaim that cold weather is caused by warm weather:

In a matter of years, melting glaciers could shut down the Gulf Stream – the system of currents that brings warmth to the northern hemisphere, experts say.

According to liberal dogma, the melting glaciers are caused by your failure to do without reliable and affordable electricity and also to drive an electric car.

Without this additional heat source, average temperatures could drop by several degrees in North America, parts of Asia and Europe, and people would see ‘severe and cascading consequences around the world’.

The planet has a fever, High Priest Al Gore preaches. When you have a fever, you get chills.

Whatever the weather turns out to be, the Experts have it covered. Then globalist Big Government can step in to placate the weather with higher taxes and a lower standard of living for us little people.

Fourth Brussels shooting leads to first death and ‘looks like an execution’, says city Mayor

Wikimedia Commons, Francisco Anzola,CC-BY-2.0

A person was shot and killed in the early hours of February 14 in the Brussels commune of Saint-Gilles, the fourth firearms incident in the city in quick succession.

The latest shooting reportedly took place at the same spot as a gun assault a day earlier.

Brussels appears to be engulfed in a wave of violence, said the city Mayor.

The deadly attack on February 14 happened at the Jacques Franck Square, near the Halle Gate, where a shooting occurred on the afternoon of the previous day. The area is close to Lacaille Street, where two other people were seriously injured in a separate gun incident.

Saint-Gilles Mayor Jean Spinette, of the Socialist party, told La Première radio station that drug dealers had “taken the city hostage”.

“Yesterday it was still about intimidation, today it looks more like an execution,” he said of the latest attack.

“The dealers apparently feel untouchable. After yesterday’s incident, they returned to the park almost immediately to start dealing again.

“I asked the police to act and last night another person was arrested but even after that the dealers returned,” Spinette claimed.

“I once again appeal for serious action to tackle this problem with the entire chain of police and judiciary.”

The Mayor said the fatal shooting was an “execution of the dealer who was in place”.

“The Federal Judicial Police is on the ground this morning,” he added.

On the same day, at 1.30am, shots were fired at a night-shop on South Avenue, although no one was injured. One suspect reportedly fled on a scooter.

In the February 13 assault, a “weapon of war” was reportedly used in the area that is, according to locals, a well-known “drive-in” where drugs are sold.

The shooters discharged their weapons into the air, according to the Mayor, in an effort to intimidate people.

Then, while escaping the scene in a car, a woman who was with her granddaughter was hit by gunfire.

When the car stopped at Grondelsstraat, those inside are said to have fled on foot.

Spinette said rival gangs often use such “terror techniques”. “They fire in the air with a weapon of war to frighten others, in the context of a turf war,” he said.

“And they don’t give a damn if it’s a Shrove Tuesday day with kids, grandmothers …”

The suspects have been arrested but “with complete impunity, they come back”, the Mayor claimed.

Spinette said the police arrests dealers, often “undocumented or minors, or both”, but complained that prosecutors then simply “release them”.

This meant, according to the Mayor, the city is suffering under “drug capitalism”, where a Mafia-type organisation holds the reins and the local population is scared of gangsters.

He demanded a heavily increased police presence to deal with the problem.

On the evening of February 13, a VRT TV crew visited a local drugs hot-spot in Anderlecht. Scenes showed discarded drug paraphernalia strewn about and police urged the TV crew to were stab-resistant vests.

Sweden has ‘lost control’ of its prisons as inmates ‘take over’ amid spike in violence against officers, union chiefs warn

Union leaders are warning that Swedish prison officers have lost control of the country’s prisons, with overcrowding leading to a spike in threats and violence.

“We are losing control. The inmates more or less have taken over the prisons,” said Christer Hallqvist, chairman of the Seko union’s Department of Correctional Services.

He revealed that staff had no choice but to distance themselves from the prisoners, as they do not currently have the resources to “avert incidents,” and warned that the current situation will “end in disaster.”

“We have crossed the line. The politicians need to calm down with their decisions so we can catch up,” he added.

The Swedish government made a crackdown on crime one of its key electoral pledges and has sought to tackle head-on the ongoing crisis of gang violence affecting the country.

Rampant gang crime has been met by Sweden’s center-right administration, led by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, introducing greater powers for police and harsher punishments for firearms offenses in a bid to stem record gun-related homicides in the Scandinavian country.

Just last week, the Swedish government announced new powers for police to stop and search youths wearing fake designer clothing in the latest attempt to tackle the ongoing gang turf wars that have seen Sweden become the country with the highest fatal shootings in Europe after Albania.

However, the added focus on crime has not run parallel to sufficient investment in the country’s prisons, and overcrowding has become a major problem — something that leading government officials are at least recognizing.

“It is a very strained situation in Swedish penitentiary care,” said Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer.

“It is a result of serious development in terms of crime over many years and the expansion of the Correctional Service started far too late.

“Now, we are taking all the measures we can in order to achieve an expansion in the long term and in the short term to give the Correctional Service the conditions to handle the pressure you are experiencing here and now,” he added.

According to the Correctional Service’s own data, threats and violence in prisons are now the highest they have been in recent times, with 1,333 cases of violence between inmates recorded last year, up from 1,198 in 2022 and 1,242 in 2021.

Concerningly, 2,354 cases of threats and violence toward prison staff were recorded last year, up from 1,962 and 1,744 cases in the two previous years.

The country has been facing a losing battle in tackling gang crime for years, and the link between gang warfare and mass immigration has been widely acknowledged at the highest levels of government.

Former Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson said during her time in office that Sweden’s failing multicultural society had contributed to gang crime thriving in the suburbs of major cities. “Segregation has been allowed to go so far that we have parallel societies in Sweden. We live in the same country but in completely different realities,” she said back in 2022.

“Integration has been too poor at the same time, as we have had high immigration. Society has been too weak, resources for the police and social services have been too weak,” she added.

Munich Report: Mass Migration More Worrying Than Russia

Nosta Lgia

A report released on Monday, February 12th, just in time for the start of the Munich Security Conference on Friday, reveals that Russia is no longer perceived as the biggest security threat by people living in the largest economies in the world, while issues like mass migration, terrorism, climate change, and cyber attacks rank high on the list of perceived threats.

While the threat posed by Russia—which invaded Ukraine almost two years ago—was cited as the top concern in surveys conducted in the previous two years, it has dropped to fourth place in the latest Munich Security Index. The index assesses answers given by people in the so-called G7 countries—Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States—as well as Brazil, China, India, and South Africa.

“Meanwhile, perceptions of nontraditional risks remain high. People around the world continue to be most concerned about environmental threats, while risk perceptions of mass migration as a result of war or climate change, radical Islamic terrorism, and organized crime have heightened,” the report writes. It adds: “While Russia was still the top risk for five G7 countries last year, only the citizens of the UK and Japan still consider it so. German citizens now only see Russia as the seventh greatest concern and Italians see it as the 12th.”

Perceptions in Europe have indeed changed. As France, Germany, Italy—and other Western European countries—grapple with a continuous tide of mass immigration and the terrorism threats linked to migration, the two topics are now the main concern for both French and German citizens, and only climate change and extreme weather conditions trump migration in Italy.

Radical Islamic terrorism climbed six places to become the most concerning threat to the French. The revelations coincide with another report which states that the ever-present insecurity in France, including terrorism and mass protests, is seriously damaging the country’s international image.

Among the countries surveyed, Germany now has the highest level of concern about mass migration, which is not surprising, given that the current and previous governments failed to curb the number of arrivals from mainly North African and Middle Eastern countries. The mismanagement of the migration crisis has elevated the anti-globalist opposition party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) into second place in national opinion polls.

The threat of Iran, a country that is orchestrating attacks on Israel and Western interests across the Middle East, has also risen significantly in the risk index among the G7 countries. Interestingly enough, for citizens in the U.S. and China, cyberattacks now rank as the top concern, while the two countries perceive each other as the third biggest security risk.

Meanwhile, almost all indicators related to Russia’s war on Ukraine have fallen, including the use of nuclear weapons by an aggressor and energy supply disruptions. This could be a worrying sign for Ukraine which has failed to make any progress in its counteroffensive against Russia, as there seems to be an increasing lack of interest from the United States and Europe in continuing to fund Ukraine.

A separate report on the global security situation, the Munich Security Report paints a very bleak picture of the world, with geopolitical rivalry increasing in all four corners of the earth, coupled with a global economic slowdown, as many states become disillusioned with the current international order. Instead of seeking cooperation and entering win-win situations, major political actors are engaging in lose-lose affairs. The report mentions:

  • Russia and Europe as both suffering the consequences of the war in Ukraine;
  • the Indo-Pacific, where “Beijing is trying to convert East Asia into its exclusive sphere of influence,” while reduced economic cooperation with China hurts both Beijing and its neighbours;
  • the Middle East where everyone is losing from the escalation of violence.

Organised since 1963, the Munich Security Conference is one of the most well-known forums for international security policy decision-makers. Its chair, Christoph Heusgen, said on Monday that the Israel-Hamas war, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and conflicts in the Horn of Africa will dominate the three-day conference, which will be attended by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, China’s top diplomat Wang Yi, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh and the government chiefs of Lebanon, Qatar, and Iraq.

Will Islam take over Europe?

By Eva Kneifel

Even if all migration into Europe were to immediately and permanently stop -– a “zero migration” scenario -– the Muslim population of Europe still would be expected to rise from the current level of 4.9% to 7.4% by the year 2050, according to a 2017 report from Pew Research.

This is because Muslims are younger (by 13 years, on average) and have higher fertility (one child more per woman, on average) than other Europeans, mirroring a global pattern.

This is just the least-migration-filled scenario. The report states that a second, “medium” migration scenario assumes that all refugee flows will stop as of mid-2016 but that recent levels of “regular” migration to Europe will continue (i.e., migration of those who come for reasons other than seeking asylum).

Under these conditions, Muslims could reach 11.2% of Europe’s population in 2050.

Finally, a “high” migration scenario from this report projects the record flow of refugees into Europe between 2014 and 2016 to continue indefinitely into the future with the same religious composition (i.e., mostly made up of Muslims) in addition to the typical annual flow of regular migrants.

In this scenario, Muslims could make up 14% of Europe’s population by 2050 -– nearly triple the current share, but still considerably smaller than the populations of both Christians and people with no religion in Europe.

The refugee flows of the last few years, however, are extremely high compared with the historical average in recent decades, and already have begun to decline as the European Union and many of the member states have made policy changes aimed at limiting refugee flows.

Predicting future migration levels is impossible, because migration rates are connected not only to political and economic conditions outside of Europe, but also to the changing economic situation and government policies within Europe.

Although none of these scenarios are expected to play out exactly as projected, each provides a set of rough parameters from which to imagine other possible outcomes.

For example, if regular migration continues at recent levels, and some asylum seekers also continue to arrive and receive refugee status -– but not as many as during the historically exceptional surge of refugees from 2014 to 2016 -– then the share of Muslims in Europe’s population as of 2050 would be expected to be somewhere between 11.2% and 14%.

With increased Muslim migration, the potential for conflict rises. Back in 2008, the CIA director, Michael V. Hayden, was quoted by the Washington Post as saying that Europe will continue to see a strong increase in the Muslim population.

At the same time, the birth rates of the long-established European population would continue to decline. The integration of these Muslim migrants will pose major challenges for European states – and significantly increase the potential for civil wars and extremists.

The civil war against “infidel” Europe has long since begun. The historic third wave of attacks against the bulwark of Europe (Bernhard Lewis) is Islam’s most successful conquest campaign in modern times. Muslims everywhere speak openly about their intention to Islamize our continent.

The following highlights very current civil war scenarios from European countries.

This war is still being waged solely by immigrant Muslims against the European majority population, who have been left defenseless against attacks by Muslims so far and who, without exception, have been abandoned by their own governments.

But governments that do not protect their populations quickly lose their legitimacy -– a look at history shows this. The first Europeans have already begun to defend themselves against the Islamic threat by casting out their elected officials. This will continue.

Labour Party Suspends Second Parliamentary Candidate in Two Days over Antisemitic Comments

The left-wing Labour Party suspended its second parliamentary candidate in as many days after it was claimed that Graham Jones had called for UK citizens who fought for Israel to be jailed, and referred to the Jewish state as “fucking Israel”.

Graham Jones, the former Labour MP for Hyndburn and who was backed by the party to run in the next general election to reclaim his old seat, has been put on administrative suspension from the party after the Westminster gossip blog Guido Fawkes obtained allegedly antisemitic recordings from the Labour candidate speaking to Azhar Ali, who the party withdrew their support from on Monday over antisemitic comments of his own.

According to Guido, Jones had asserted that Britons who volunteered to fight for the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) against Hamas terrorists “should be locked up”, while falsely wrongly that it would be illegal for UK citizens to fight on behalf of Israel. This is not the case, however, given that the IDF is a recognised armed force, and therefore British nationals are allowed to volunteer. Israel, for its part, does not prohibit foreign citizens from serving in the IDF.

During the meeting of Labour activists, which occurred shortly after the October 7th Islamist terror attacks on Israel, Jones was also alleged to have branded the Jewish state as “fucking Israel”.

Hours after the comments were published, the Labour Party suspended Jones, Sky News reported.

Jones allegedly made the comments during the same meeting in Lancashire, in which Labour Party Councillor Azhar Ali was recorded claiming that Israel had given the “green light” to the October 7th Hamas terror attacks and had intentionally allowed its citizens to be slaughtered and taken hostage by the Islamist Palestinian group.

While the party initially appeared set to defend Ali, who was their parliamentary candidate for Rochdale — a northern English city with a large Muslim population — the party ultimately withdrew its support from Ali on Monday. The decision came as the Daily Mail claimed to have obtained more antisemitic comments from the councillor.

According to the paper, Ali blamed “people in the media from certain Jewish quarters” for stoking criticism of a pro-Palestinian Labour MP and had stated that he believed Israel was planning to “get rid of [Palestinians] from Gaza” to “grab” the land.

The suspension of two parliamentary candidates comes just two weeks after a sitting Labour MP, Kate Osamor, was also suspended from the party after she suggested that Holocaust Memorial Day should also be used to highlight what she termed as a “genocide” in Gaza, a label that Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer has rejected in terms of Israel’s military response to the October 7th terror attacks.

Commenting on the suspension of her opponent, Conservative MP for Hyndburn, Sara Britcliffe said: “At a time of increasing community tensions, it is the responsibility of all of us in politics to be careful with the language we use.

“We need immediate answers from those seeking to represent Hyndburn about whether they challenged Mr Ali. Creating community cohesion is essential and this quite frankly does the complete opposite. This is a clear example that the Labour Party under Sir Keir Starmer has not changed at all.”

UK: Asylum seekers to be granted up to 16000 homes despite young people struggling to get on housing ladder

Nosta Lgia

The Home Office has built up a stock of 16,000 properties for asylum seekers as young people struggle to get on the housing ladder.

An acute shortage of homes for young workers and families has gripped Britain in recent years, with house prices continuing to spiral.

Contractors from the Home Office have been offering landlords five-year guarenteed full-rent deals to take over the management of properties.

The move is being made in an attempt to cut the £8million a day cost of housing migrants in hotels.

Dozens of hotels holding asylum seekers were due to shut by the end of last month.

Another 50 will close by spring amid growing concern from local residents.

There were around 50,000 asylum seekers in 400 taxpayer-funded hotels at the end of last year.

Properties from the private rental and social housing markets are being used to house more than 58,000 asylum seekers across England, Wales and Scotland.

The number in so-called “dispersed accommodation” has doubled compared to where it was a decade ago.

Daily costs for dispersed accommodation can fall to as low as £30, compared with £150 for hotels.

However, there are concerns the situation could create “ghettos” and limit “integration”.

A Home Office insider told The Daily Telegraph: “The department’s strong preference is for dispersal accommodation because it is so much cheaper and much more discreet than hotels. That’s not to say it’s not unpopular.

“Some of the contractors are taking properties in pretty normal streets. You can buy yourself a £300,000 house and suddenly find your next-door neighbour is a house full of asylum seekers.

“MPs are starting to report problems as a result of this.

“It has also been very heavily clustered in places where property is cheap – Hull, Bradford and Teesside. It is potentially damaging to these places because it creates ghettos which are terrible for integration.”

Three contractors have been paid £4billion over 10 years to provide accommodation to asylum seekers.

As many a 30,000 homes may be needed to end the use of hotels as the Government can substantially reduce the 100,000 backlog in asylum claims, The Telegraph has claimed.

However, the report comes after 1.2 million people were registered on council housing waiting lists at the end of 2021/22.

The arrangement seemingly suits landlords, with many experiencing rental arrears.

An expert claimed: “If you’re a landlord, wouldn’t you take a five-year contract where they’re going to pay all the rent regardless.”
