Two Channel migrants, who attacked police on a French beach, have been jailed.
The pair were part of a violent mob, who confronted police as the officers attempted to stop the migrants launching their small boat towards the UK.
Salih Taib Abdullah, 33, and Ahmed Omar Saleh Khater, 25, were sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court today to a total of two years and two months’ imprisonment for attempting to arrive in the UK illegally.
Both were involved in the violent disorder, involving a large group of migrants on a beach near Calais in June.
A team of UK-funded gendarmes were on patrol in Oye Plage, a few miles from the French port, when they came across the group of fifty-one migrants in the process of launching their boat.
As the officers attempted to stop the launch, a number of the migrants armed themselves with makeshift weapons and rocks, causing injuries to the officers.
The mob then managed to launch their small boat and successfully crossed the Channel into UK waters.
The court heard that following rapid consultation between UK and French authorities, the two defendants were quickly identified and arrested by officers from the Home Office’s Criminal and Financial Investigations unit as soon as they reached Dover.
Body-worn camera footage from the gendarmes was played in court, and showed the scenes of violent disorder, as the group tried to prevent law enforcement from stopping their launch.
The two defendants could be clearly seen confronting the French officers.
The Home Office said British and French authorities “worked closely together, at speed, to ensure the offenders were brought to justice as swiftly as possible”.
Both Abdullah, from Iraq, and Khater, from Sudan, pleaded guilty to attempting to arrive in the UK without valid entry clearance at an earlier hearing.
Charlie Eastaugh, Director of International Operations for the Small Boats Operational Command said: “We will not tolerate violence against our French partners, particularly by those attempting dangerous and illegal small boat launches which threaten the border security of the UK.
“Tension on French beaches is increasing due to the successful efforts of law enforcement in frustrating this organised criminal enterprise. Incidents like this highlight the complex and brave work of our French colleagues in the face of challenging conditions.
“We will continue to work hand-in-hand with them to tackle the criminal gangs behind these deadly crossings, to protect our borders and save lives.”
“So far this year, almost 22,300 people have crossed the English Channel in small boats.
More than 200 migrants have crossed on Friday.
The Home Office has confirmed that so far this year, French police has prevented 15,000 migrants from making the journey by small boats.
France has banned abayas and qamis, its highest administrative court confirms, the order of the nation’s education minister that the rule should be in force for the new school term having been thrown into question by a last-minute challenge from a Muslim-interest pressure group.
The Conseil d’État (Council of State), France’s supreme administrative court, has rejected an emergency appeal by the Action Droits des Musulmans (Action for Muslim Rights, ADM) to stop the implementation of new rules banning some garments in French schools. The French minister for education Gabriel Attal had said, in his reasoning for the ban, that: “When you walk into a classroom, you shouldn’t be able to identify the pupils’ religion just by looking at them”.
The French state is, by the terms of its constitution, totally blind to race, religion, and other factors, officially seeing all French citizens as equally French no matter their heritage. Preserving this neutral approach has seen the government crackdown on outward signs of faith in the classroom — like robes and head scarves — but the ADM challenged this interpretation of the constitution arguing instead it means the state should permit individuals to wear what they like at school without interference.
The ADM argued, Le Figaroreports, that the ban on abayas “infringes on the rights of children, because it mainly targets children assumed to be Muslims”. They also argued, CNEWS reports, that the ban’s wording was too vague and presented an “unjustified interference in the exercise of Muslim worship”. The court did not agree with the claim and ruled that dress codes at school did not constitute a “serious… illegal attack on a fundamental freedom”.
The French Prime Minister has previously spoken out on that view, saying: “there is no stigmatisation. Every one of our fellow citizens, whatever their religion, has their place in our country… There is one principle: secularism. And there’s a law prohibiting the wearing of any sign or garment by which a student manifests his or her religious affiliation. This law must be applied to everyone, and we’ll make sure that it is properly applied.”
The ban and its confirmation in the courts has, of course, generated controversy. An essay in a top French newspaper on Friday blasts the abaya as an imposition on French society by Saudi Arabian “wahhabists”, intended to “transform women into ghosts”. On the other side, a whole school in the diverse Seine-Saint-Denis suburb of Paris has gone on strike, with teachers and students protesting the government’s ban.
A statement by the protest committee, reportsAl Jazeera, reads: “We want to distance ourselves from the government’s Islamophobic policy… we do not have to police the clothing. We refuse to stigmatise students who wear an abaya or a qamis”.
Another school, the Lycée Maurice Utrillo in Stains, Paris has seen a strike, with teachers walking out over what they call “Islamophobic” and “racist policies”. One teacher quoted by FranceTVInfo said they did not want to have to be “the clothing police”.
More seriously, Figaroreports that one headmaster has already been threatened with death because he enforced the rule, an alarming callback to the death of French teacher Samuel Paty which started with death threats after he showed a cartoon of Mohammad in a class teaching freedom of expression. Paty was beheaded in the street outside his school by an Islamist.
It is reported the father of a schoolgirl threatened to kill the headmaster of the Ambroise Brugières high school, in Clermont-Ferrand (80 miles west of Lyon) because the headmaster refused to allow the girl into school on account of her dress not conforming with the law. The father made death threats and was arrested and remains in custody as of Friday morning.
The ban on abayas and qamis, which are robed garments that typically are worn with a head-scarf for women but which are not necessarily religious garments, was originally brought in to coincide with the start of the new school year. It is not the first such move in France, which has banned “conspicuous” religious symbols such as a visible Christian cross or an Islamic headscarf since 2004.
As reported, when the new school term began this week French schools turned away 298 girls who had decided to defy the ban, or were not aware of it. Most, according to the French government, agreed to remove the garment and then be admitted, but a minority of 67 refused to comply. Per a BBC report, if they continue to refuse and therefore are unable to attend school, they will be excluded.
It is stated the French government asserts the contrast of 67 refusals out of a school cohort of millions shows the ban has basically succeeded and been accepted.
Turkey’s Greek minority has a rich history, deeply intertwined with the nation’s past and culture. This community, which has faced numerous challenges and adversities over the years, is at a critical juncture. Considering the intricate history, are Turkey’s Greeks on the verge of distinction or does hope exist for their preservation?
Imbros: A Tale of Resilience
The island of Imbros (Imvros/ Gökçeada), nestled in the Aegean Sea, is a microcosm of the broader Greek experience in Turkey. For decades, Imbros bore witness to a dwindling Greek population, marked by forced departures and discrimination. The 1960s saw a mass exodus, with the majority of the island’s 6,000 Greeks departing amid unsettling changes, including the arrival of settlers and convicted prisoners from the mainland.
However, in recent years, Imbros has witnessed a revival of its Greek culture. Tourism has flourished, and Greek restaurants in places like Zeytinlikoy have become bustling hubs filled with both locals and tourists. The Turkish government’s decision to permit the opening of three Greek schools a decade ago spurred the return of descendants of the displaced Greeks. The island’s Greek population, which had dwindled to under 200, has tripled, with new arrivals establishing businesses and revitalising the local culture.
Imbros showcases a beacon of hope for the preservation of Greek heritage within Turkey. Greek language and education have experienced a renaissance, offering a glimmer of optimism for the island’s future.
Turkey’s Greek Minority: A Bleak Picture Elsewhere
While Imbros provides a heartening example, the broader landscape for Turkey’s Greek minority is far from reassuring. The history of Turkey’s Greeks is riddled with challenges, stemming from the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople in 1453 to the brutal population exchange between Turkey and Greece in the 1920s.
The 1990s brought some improvements as Turkey moved away from decades of military rule. Nevertheless, the exodus has continued, and out of a population of approximately 200,000 Greeks at the dawn of the Turkish Republic, only about 2,000 remain today, primarily in Istanbul. Laki Vingas, a prominent community member, warns that there comes a point where population decline becomes irreversible, and Turkey’s Greeks may be at that precipice.
Efforts to stem this decline, such as offering Turkish citizenship to descendants of Greeks forced into exile, have not materialised. Even on Imbros, the future remains uncertain as most graduates from local Greek schools have left for universities abroad, with no guarantee of their return.
Challenges Amidst Glimmers of Hope
Turkey’s Greeks continue to face prejudice. Last a group of nationalists, comprising both government and opposition sympathisers, attempted to obstruct the spiritual leader of the global Orthodox Christian community, Archbishop Bartholomew I of Constantinople, from conducting a religious service at an age-old Greek monastery located in northern Turkey. Just days earlier, Turkish journalist Melike Capan decided to cancel an exhibition shedding light on the history of Imbros’ exiles after facing allegations from a local official who accused her of “disrespecting the Turkish nation.”
Yet, there is a glimmer of hope. Many Turks have embraced their Greek neighbours, recognising the importance of preserving the country’s Greek heritage.
The future of Turkey’s Greeks remains uncertain, but they no longer feel as forsaken as they did during previous periods of nationalist sentiment. Solidarity from both Greeks and Turks is emerging as a driving force in preserving the Greek culture and heritage that is an integral part of Turkey’s diverse tapestry.
The fate of Turkey’s Greek minority is a complex interplay of history, migration, and contemporary challenges. While Imbros stands as an encouraging example of revival, the broader situation remains precarious. Turkey’s Greeks are at a crossroads, and the outcome will depend on various factors, including government policies, societal attitudes, and the determination of the Greek community to ensure their heritage endures.
Father James Altman is an inspiring Roman Catholic priest who has dedicated his life to serving God and spreading the message of the Gospel. Originally from the Diocese of Marquette, Father Altman was an attorney who had a family practice in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, when he answered the call to the priesthood. Graduating from the University of St. Mary of the Lake’s Mundelein Seminary outside Chicago, Father Altman was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Jerome E. Listecki at the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman on June 28, 2008.
An Afghan migrant stabbed to death a fellow Afghan migrant after a row in a refugee centre near Florence Thursday, local sources said. The man then jumped out of a window and fled, they said. The incident took place in centre run by Catholic charity Caritas withing the framework of Italy’s SPRAR refugee reception scheme at Tavarnuzze, in the comune of Impruneta, in the province of Florence.
Marion Maréchal, the niece of French nationalist firebrand Marine Le Pen, has been selected by Éric Zemmour to lead his Reconquest party’s candidate list for next year’s European parliamentary elections.
In an exclusive interview with French newspaper Le Figaro, Zemmour, a former French presidential candidate, explained that he was entrusting Maréchal with the task of defending his “conception of Europe and civilization,” and called on French voters to make the election a de facto referendum on immigration.
“We are going to make the European elections on June 9 a referendum on immigration. When I launched the presidential campaign, I said that I was embarking on it to fight against the Great Replacement and against the Islamization of the country,” Zemmour told the newspaper.
“It turns out that France is not alone in this fight. It is simply the advanced point of a phenomenon that will be — and which is already — the great challenge of the 21stcentury: immigration and the Islamization of all of Europe,” he added.
The former journalist-turned-politician expressed his concern that Africa, which currently has double the European population of 750 million people, will likely have 4 billion citizens by the end of the century, and explained that “half of its population is under 20 when ours is getting older.”
He stated his belief that the theme of immigration must be a priority for Europeans “both for a demographic reason and for a democratic reason.” He called the European elections a “fundamental deadline,” which represents the first chance in a very long time for voters to “swing the majority of the European Parliament to the right.”
“I say to all right-wing voters: If they want a rally to fight the Melenchonist left and the Islamo-leftist people that it has forged, to stop the hegemony of the central bloc, which has done nothing to protect our countries and our compatriots. If they want a real right-wing policy, they must vote for Reconquest,” he added.
Marion Maréchal, a former member of the National Rally, which her aunt was president of between 2011 and 2021, echoed the sentiments of her party leader in a recent interview with French broadcaster TF1.
“I am happy to work with (Eric Zemmour),” said Maréchal, who claimed the party leader will be the “natural candidate” for the 2027 presidential election.
“Today we have the opportunity to bring together right-wing voters,” Maréchal added, calling her leadership of Zemmour’s right-wing party candidate list an “exciting, historic opportunity.”
Germany’s AfD (Alternative for Germany), a populist political party whose main policy plank is dramatically tightening Germany’s open borders, is in danger of being outright banned.
Germany’s government, like America’s, is currently dominated by hypocritical leftist autocrats who are now debating whether to ban what it considers to be the “far-right” Alternative for Germany party. AfD has surged in popularity recently, and is now polling at 21%, despite warnings from intelligence officials that its members are becoming increasingly “extreme.” German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier recently stated, “We all have it in our hands to put those who despise our democracy in their place.” He was addressing the country’s domestic intelligence agency. (Which is not the STASI.)
Thomas Haldenwang, the nation’s domestic spy chief, said:
We see a considerable number of protagonists in this party that spread hate against all types of minorities here in Germany.
This whole situation is remarkably similar to that in the U.S., with those in power branding their political opponents as “extreme” and “far-right,” and attempting to marginalize, punish, cancel—or imprison—those with whom they disagree.
The AfD isn’t spreading hate. Rather, it is the elites who lord over their citizens and mock them for their beliefs—and who tell them what speech/thought is and isn’t acceptable—that are doing so.
Leftists are spreading hate against the AfD, which is, in fact, a minority party. Banning its existence outright would be a remarkably Nazi-like thing to do, and particularly ironic while saying this must be done to save “our democracy.”
In Germany, Canada, the United States, and elsewhere, “save our democracy” has become nothing but a dog-whistle. It is nought but shorthand for “cancel or lock-up anyone with whom we disagree!”
So the correct response to edicts from the likes of President Steinmeier, Prime Minister Trudeau, and President Biden would not be, Sieg Heil! … It would be “See ya!”
It’s been a good summer for climate activists who are pushing the false narrative of “climate change.”
We had the Canadian wildfires with smoke drifting into other parts of North America. Then there were hotter than usual temperatures in many parts of the country (it’s summertime and I predict temperatures will drop this fall, winter and spring, as usual), followed by a devastating fire in Maui, and then Hurricane Idalia.
Never mind that the fires in Canada might have been prevented if environmentalists had not opposed clearing underbrush and removing old trees. The same goes for Maui, along with better management of the fire when it first broke out.
President Joe Biden added to this fictional summer storyline by embellishing an often-told story about a fire at his Delaware home. We’ve heard several versions, the latest being firefighters “ran into flames” to rescue his wife and the house “almost collapsed.” Previous stories put his 1967 Corvette and cat at risk after a lightning strike.
Much of the media are hauling out one of their favorite words – “unprecedented” – to describe the force and destructive power of Idalia, which is not true. Hurricanes happen during the summer and early fall and some of the worst occurred long before the Industrial Age. Let’s not forget the “experts” who swore in the 1970s that the Earth was headed for a new ice age in which we would all freeze to death. Trust the science we were told.
The deconstruction of this latest chapter of fiction begins with this: According to the Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization, “98 percent of all Hawaiian fires are started by people, of which 75 percent are due to carelessness.” Bring back Smokey Bear who said: “Remember, only YOU can present forest fires.”
Returning to those Canadian wildfires – common across that country during summer – the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that half were caused by lightning strikes while the other half were caused in different ways, from discarding cigarette butts to sparks from passing trains. While the newspaper includes “climate change” as a contributing factor, better forest management would have helped reduce the risk.
Concerning the predictable hysteria from some TV reporters standing in ankle or hip-deep water, the climate Chicken Littles are wrong again. According to the webpage Advancing Earth and Space Sciences: “Global hurricane counts and Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) have significantly decreased since 1990 likely due to a trend toward LaNina. (The) decreasing trend in global hurricanes and ACE is primarily driven by (the) downturn in western North Pacific activity.”
CNN went full crisis mode when its top climate “expert” Dr. Bill Weir said:
“The cost of (using fossil fuels) is becoming bigger with every storm. Science has been warning about this for a very long time, in many ways it has been predicted…”
Not all “science” and not all scientists, especially those who are in the field of environment and not receiving grants from the federal government, which could skew the credibility of their findings. The organization Climate Intelligence has published a letter signed by 1,609 scientists who say there is no climate emergency. Their letter is loaded with scientific facts and not statements by politicians and reporters who repeat familiar lines.
In addition to their citation of scientific facts, they write:
“To believe the outcome of a climate model is to believe what the model makers have put in. This is precisely the problem with today’s climate discussion to which climate models are central. Climate science has degenerated into a discussion based on beliefs, not on sound self-critical science. Should we not free ourselves from the naive belief in immature climate models?”
It’s a good question and one purveyors of the “climate change” storyline should contemplate.
The Sun has changed its activity dramatically during recent years. This is particularly evident on the outer planets of the solar system, and Free West Media presents a unique compilation of the drastic changes that some planets are currently undergoing and that are likely awaiting Earth as well.
The activity of the Sun has drastically decreased, causing concern among solar scientists. The previous solar cycle, Cycle 24, from December 2008 to December 2019, was the weakest in a century. The Sun is currently in the active phase of weak Cycle 25, so we can expect more precipitation and colder temperatures in the coming less active years.
A small number of sunspots indicate that the Sun’s magnetic activity is low, as is the number of charged particles it emits, known as the solar wind. The solar wind primarily consists of electrons and protons and reaches much farther than Earth, affecting all the planets in our solar system.
Therefore, the solar wind fills the space within the solar system and is a major component of the “interplanetary medium.” The region dominated by the solar wind is called the heliosphere and typically extends well beyond Pluto’s orbit. As the solar wind decreases, the heliosphere contracts. This means that the planets farthest from the Sun are affected first and most, although the effects may differ from those on Earth due to different conditions on each planet.
The Sun’s influence is amplified by the fact that many planets lack a protective atmosphere like Earth’s, so they experience significant changes in their magnetic fields, pole shifts, planetary materials, atmospheres, and climates. Planets with weather patterns, such as clouds and storms, are undergoing dramatic changes that can be observed and measured from Earth and the space probes humanity has sent out. This is also something that the establishment is quietly showing great interest in, while the general public remains largely uninformed.
This, more than anything else, proves that escalating extreme weather and climate changes are not caused by cars, air travel, or our lifestyles. Even the most ardent climate alarmist cannot believe or argue that humans or animals are responsible for the changes we are witnessing on Pluto or the planets in our solar system. The Sun exposes their bluff, which is why they desperately try to ignore it – something no genuine climate scientist would ever dream of doing.
The Sun, the planets, and the solar system are undergoing significant changes, and the public remains unaware
Just as Earth is witnessing the beginning of dramatic climate changes due to the Sun’s decreased activity, the entire solar system and the magnetic fields of all the planets are being affected. Significant and, in many cases, unexpected changes have begun to occur on the planets in our solar system in recent years. New Times has compiled a summary of all the planets for our readers (from the Sun outward):
Mercury has no known changes yet, but it is small and closest to the Sun, offering the best “protection” against cosmic radiation. It is logical that it will be affected last.
Venus has altered wind speeds, 33 percent faster than before(!), and its rotation has slowed down. Note that Venus rotates in the opposite direction to all other planets.
Earth has a weakened magnetic field, with the poles moving closer together and an accelerating change in rotation speed. The result is altered jet streams in the atmosphere, increased cloud cover, more water in the atmosphere, increased precipitation (snow, hail, and rain), larger hail, reduced solar radiation, cooler climate, more extreme temperatures and air pressure, extreme weather, altered ocean currents, stronger and more colorful auroras (as cosmic particles penetrate deeper into the atmosphere), and a rapidly thinning ozone layer (mainly in the southern hemisphere), more active volcanoes (50 are erupting), and likely more and larger earthquakes soon.
Mars is experiencing climate changes much more dramatic than those observed on Earth so far. The Red Planet has altered wind patterns, unexpected seismic activity with a now-active mantle(!), and has also started to rotate faster.
Jupiter has changed its magnetic field, leading to visibly altered weather patterns and radio waves. The well-known Red Spot, a high-pressure region in Jupiter’s atmosphere, has begun to fade. At the same time, a new one has appeared, named “Red Spot Jr.”
Saturn has changed storms, with a cyclical superstorm occurring ten years ahead of schedule.
Uranus has record-breaking storms and auroras (northern lights).
Neptune has seen a strong storm move in the opposite direction to usual, altered auroras (northern lights), and a 90-degree shift/tip of the planet’s poles! The first and last of these changes may indicate an ongoing pole shift. The clouds have also disappeared since the weak Cycle 25 began in 2019. NASA has come up with a reason this year: It’s the Sun… while simultaneously claiming that the Sun cannot affect cloud cover on Earth.
Pluto has experienced a collapse of its atmosphere!
It’s worth noting that these changes appear to be occurring from the outside in within our solar system. This is explained by the fact that weakened solar activity first becomes noticeable at the outer reaches of the solar system, where the Sun’s influence is already weakest. Eventually, it becomes too weak to sustain the previously normal magnetic fields and the protection they provide against cosmic radiation from the galaxy. This is when we can observe changes in the planets’ weather and magnetic fields, something we can already see on Earth.
Even the galaxy itself has an overarching and cyclical magnetic field that affects the Sun, which has begun to exhibit significant changes in its magnetic field and chemical processes in the corona (the Sun’s “atmosphere”). We also see changes in the solar system itself due to this, including an increased accumulation of space dust, especially near the Sun. This last point is very alarming and something New Times will report on in the future.
In conclusion, it is clear that these dramatic changes in our solar system are hardly caused by human-produced carbon dioxide emissions or cow flatulence but rather by the common denominator of all the planets: the Sun. This is why these sensational changes on the planets in our solar system, which have surprised and shocked scientists and could become very interesting space and science news, are not shared with the public.
New Times’ research sources claim that NASA still has it partially wrong, as they have seen images this year that do not align with NASA’s new report. We will share several of their very interesting observations and revelations with our readers in the future.
“I reversed the policies of my predecessor and resumed aid to the Palestinians”
Mahmoud Abbas, Arafat’s successor as head of the Palestinian Authority attended the USSR’s Patrice Lumumba University. PLU was an incubator for Communist terrorists and aspiring dictators around the world. The lesson that Abbas took away from the Communist influence operation was adopting the Soviet position that the Jews and the Nazis were in it together in the form of his thesis. Abbas has never stopped promoting his thesis, which became a book, and no one has stopped funding with him or meeting with him.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas discussed antisemitism in a speech delivered at the 11th session of Fatah’s Revolutionary Council, on August 24, 2023. He said that the “truth” is that European Jews are not Semites, they are the descendants of Khazars, and therefore their persecution has nothing to do with antisemitism. Abbas added that Karl Marx confirmed that this is so. He continued to say that Hitler and the Europeans did not kill the Jews “because they were Jews,” but rather they fought the Jews because of “their social role, and not their religion.” Abbas explained that Hitler “fought” the Jews because they dealt with usury and money, not because of antisemitism.
All this time later after his studies at PLU and Abbas is still quoting Marx.
Three days before Mr. Abbas’s speech, his Fatah party’s military wing competed with Hamas to take credit for the murder near Hebron of a Jewish preschool teacher, Batsheva Nigri, in front of her child. If you wonder why the Oslo peace process hit a dead end and stayed there, consider that Mr. Abbas and Fatah have been described for decades as “moderates.”
Moderate terrorists like Marx and Hitler. And the New York Times.
Mr. Abbas’s false claim drew swift condemnation from Israeli and European officials. It also fueled accusations that Mr. Abbas — an architect of interim peace agreements between Israelis and Palestinians in the 1990s — is not genuinely committed to resolving the ongoing conflict.
Last year, Biden met with Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas and boasted that, “I reversed the policies of my predecessor and resumed aid to the Palestinians — more than a half a billion dollars in 2021.”
The number of terror victims fell every year Trump was in office, from 15 in 2017, to 12 in 2018, 10 in 2019 and then only 3 in 2020. And the number of terror victims shot up every year Biden was in office from 17 in 2021, to 31 in 2022, and there is every sign that 2023 will top that.
Biden’s half a billion dollars helped fuel a massive surge in Islamic terrorism. While the money is officially listed as humanitarian aid, injecting money into terror zones funds terrorism.
The Palestinian Authority maintains a ‘pay-to-slay’ program which pays salaries to terrorists based on the lengths of their prison sentences. That means successful killers can earn $3,000 a month in a part of the world where the average salary is around $700 a month. It’s five times more profitable to be a terrorist than a teacher.
That’s the price of Batsheva’s life and that is what the Biden administration has been paying for.
Biden met with Abbas. And beyond money, the administration, led by Secretary of State Blinken, provided political support to the Palestinian Authority at every turn, including fighting for its claim to Jerusalem.
Abbas has never hidden what he is. Our political establishment, much like the EU, chooses not to deal with it.
