Germany: Students arm themselves in city of Halle as violent robberies soar, parents describe ‘broken police force’

Organized gangs, many of them made up of foreigners, have targeted children in Halle’s schools for years, with the police recording hundreds of such cases. However, there is now a citizens’ initiative in the German city that has begun patrolling the area, and students are arming themselves for self-defense purposes as they lose faith in the police to protect the young victims.

The city, located in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, has seen highly troubling statistics emerge regarding the robbery of students, with Die Welt reporting that in just a matter of two years, there have been 203 such robbery offenses with 274 suspects.

The police noted that 40 percent of suspects have a migration background, and the proportion of those robberies committed by intensive offenders features a “significantly higher” share of foreigners, according to police, although no exact figures were given.

Although the police have promised to be more present at schools, as parents raised concerns about their children being assaulted or being constantly on watch for gangs, the attacks have continued virtually uninterrupted.

Parents describe a situation bordering on extreme desperation, with one woman telling Die Welt outside the school that her 13-year-old son had already been robbed three times. Another mother told the paper that her son was blackmailed for money. Both mothers have now joined the “Safe Schools in Halle” initiative, which was formed earlier this month.

There are also a number of court cases involving dangerous bodily harm and threats. The problem has become so widespread that the police in the city have set up a special investigative unit exclusively focused on these crimes.

The Saxony-Anhalt Interior Ministry reports that the robberies are brutal, featuring suspects punching, pushing and kicking their young victims. However, weapons are also being utilized by the attackers, including “pepper spray, knives, or blank guns.”

The attacks have been on the radar of the interior ministry for months, and they began to fit a pattern that indicated an organized and consistent form of attack. The perpetrators would approach victims, demand cash, clothes and smartphones, and then utilize violence to proceed with the robbery.

The interior ministry noted that there is a threat of “high levels of violence.”

Parents have become so desperate that they have organized a citizens’ defense initiative, with the initiative describing a “broken police force” that has been unable to secure the schools for their children, especially during school breaks and after the school day ends when students are walking home.

The initiative says it will not resort to violence and will operate within the law, which likely means it will partake in patrols and observation.

One mother said: “It’s just about being present and showing that we protect our children.”

However, Die Welt reported that many students are arming themselves with pepper spray while others even now carry knives, according to one student the paper spoke with.

There are also extreme threats some students are dealing with, including perpetrators taking their IDs, taking photographs, and stating they will harm their families if they speak to the police.

Trends seen in other Western countries, such as France, indicate that the police may take more interest in these citizens’ initiatives and students participating in self-defense than the actual robberies themselves. For example, an identitarian group in France, which protested this month in front of the home of a foreign suspect accused of brutally raping a French woman into a month-long coma, were all arrested during their demonstration and accused by the prosecutor of promoting “self-defense.”

Paramount+ Removes Russell Brand Comedy Special While Continuing to Stream Harvey Weinstein Movies

Image: Russell Brand. YouTube screen grab.

The Paramount+ streaming service has removed Russell Brand’s 2009 comedy special from its platform in the latest act of corporate censorship against the politically inconvenient British star, who is facing allegations of rape and other forms of sexual misconduct.

Paramount’s decision to pull Russell Brand Live from New York comes as its streaming service continues to offer several Harvey Weinstein movies as well as a Roman Polanski film.

Both Weinstein and Polanski are sex offenders — the former was convicted, the latter pleaded guilty. Meanwhile, the Brand accusations thus far remain unsubstantiated allegations in the eyes of the law.

Paramount appears to have removed the Brand comedy special on Tuesday. The studio’s decision follows similar acts of censorship by YouTube and the BBC.

Google-owned YouTube has demonetized Brand’s account, claiming such decisions are made when “a creator’s off-platform behavior harms our users.”

Meanwhile,  BBC has removed some content featuring Russell from its streaming platform iPlayer and BBC Sounds, saying it”assessed that it now falls below public expectations.”

In recent years, Brand has emerged as a threat to the mainstream establishment media as well as Democrats with his enormous social media presence, which he leveraged to question left-wing orthodoxies including the war in Ukraine, big tech censorship, COVID, and the Biden administration.

He made many enemies among media executives by interviewing Tucker Carlson and even Oliver Stone, the latter of whom admitted that voting for Biden in 2020 was a “mistake.”

Paramount+ continues to stream several movies that were produced and distributed by Harvey Weinstein. They currently include the Oscar-bait Miramax releases Chocolat and The Cider House Rules, as well as the Dimension releases Scream and Spy Kids.

The studio acquired a stake in the old Miramax in 2020, giving it access to numerous movies produced and nurtured by the Weinstein brothers.

The platform is also streaming Polanski’s classic Chinatown, which is a Paramount release.

Is the Pope Catholic?

By Alicia Colon

That question used to be rhetorical and used to signify a definite and emphatic yes to any statement.  In 2023, however, it is less sure — particularly in light of one Catholic cleric who aired his dissenting opinion.

Since the pandemic, the world has taken a turn toward moral lunacy, while the usual spiritual guardians are silent in their outrage. The  idea that this medical hoax shuttered churches caused many to suspect a sinister underlying force. More and more Catholic clergy are voicing publicly their concerns about the direction of Pope Francis’s papacy in videos and podcasts.

As a Catholic myself, my attitude toward Pope Francis has been to give him the benefit of the doubt in his press appearances because most Jesuits, at least for the last century or so, have leaned toward a worldlier liberal POV rather than a purely spiritual one. The Italian media interviews have always been suspect because of their leftish reporters.  who distort whatever comes out of Pope Francis’s mouth.

But despite my twelve years of Catholic education, I am not so sure lately about what’s happening with this papacy. More and more talk on the airwaves mentions the word “schism.” Even pundit Ben Shapiro, who is Jewish, voices his concern.

I watched a YouTube video that was filmed this month by Father James Altman, a priest from Holy Cross Parish in La Crosse, Wisconsin.  It has gone viral because Father Altman has dared to state that Pope Francis is not a valid Catholic and thus not the pope.

In his video, Fr. Altman reads from the Council of Trent, which details certain mortal sins that incur automatic excommunication for any Catholic who commits them.

In his video, Fr. Altman lists many recent statements and actions that Pope Francis has taken that disturb Fr. Altman considerably. He refers to Francis only as Jorge Bergoglio.

Is Fr. Altman right? Is “Bergoglio” no longer the pope?

After some research, I’ve discovered innumerable responses from those with theological expertise that mitigate several of Fr. Altman’s charges. But many supportive videos have also been broadcast on YouTube and Catholic webzines.

This division can serve as a microcosm for the wider division plaguing the Catholic Church.

For example, a 2019 Pew Research survey shows that many Catholics do not believe in the Real Presence in the Eucharist — that is, that the priest, apostolically ordained, changes the bread and wine presented to him in the Mass into the body and blood of Jesus Christ. They believe it to be a symbolic ritual, as do Protestants. I suggest they take a look on YouTube at the many Eucharistic miracles through the centuries that show the host being transformed into flesh. This phenomenon has occurred since at least A.D. 700 . In each case where these things have been documented, the flesh has the same blood type — AB — and has been determined to be a part of heart muscle. The blood found on the Shroud of Turin is also type AB.  Believe it or not.

What has disturbed so many clergy about Pope Francis is that he seems to be lax in following the precepts laid down by prior Church councils, including the Council of Trent. For instance, Trent confirmed that one must be in a state of grace before receiving Communion. Pope Francis, however, has presided over Masses where known clear and unrepentant supporters of abortion, like Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden, received Communion. He has also welcomed audiences with same-sex couples and others clearly flaunting an immoral lifestyle. The pontiff seems to believe he is following Christ’s image of tolerance, but we have scant evidence that he is echoing to these people what Christ said to the woman caught in adultery after showing her mercy: “Go and sin no more.”

Social media are abuzz with the prospect of a schism in the Church, and one can search endlessly for the different points on view.

However, one must note that Pope Francis, or “Jorge Bergoglio,” has become a polarizing figure. Take for example his recent visit to Communist China where he advised Chinese Catholics to “be truly Christians and good citizens.” What?

His selections of new cardinals also have a more progressive stance on the Church than the conservative influence fostered by Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI.  Over 70% of the members of the College of Cardinals were installed by Pope Francis and will be responsible for choosing the next pope.

The most dangerous aspect of this entire controversy is that those Catholic clergy who have aired objections to the pope’s pronouncements — whether it is Fr. Altman, who insists that Francis is not the pope, or Bishop Joseph Strickland, who publicly “rejected” Francis’s “program of undermining the Deposit of Faith” — have been silenced, suspended, and even forced to resign by their superiors. Pray for them.

The Catholic Church has had very bad, even evil popes, but none has ever had the power to change the core message of Christ or the dogma in place for over 2,000 years.  God willing, the Holy Spirit is still in charge.

Belgian Socialist party leader under investigation again

Wikimedia Commons, Vlaams Parlement, CC-BY-3.0

Conner Rousseau, the President of the Belgian Flemish socialist party (Vooruit), is under investigation for allegedly making “racist and xenophobic” remarks towards the police.

The local public prosecutor’s office is investigating an incident in which Rousseau was involved.

Police officers stationed at the door of a popular bar in his hometown of Sint-Niklaas accuse the politician of hurling insults at them during a local festival at the beginning of September. They reported the alleged use of “racist and xenophobic language”.

Contacted by the press, Rousseau said he had not been officially informed about the investigation.

“I did indeed go to a café in Sint-Niklaas that day and spoke with several police officers. I had had too much to drink, but in my recollection, the tone of those conversations was more joking and friendly,” he claimed.

“I don’t remember exactly what was said, but I am very surprised by what is being written about it. I hope that the public prosecutor’s office invites me soon so that I can get clarity on what exactly is going on.”

Lieven Dehandschutter, mayor of the city, confirmed to the Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws a report was filed about the alleged remarks and there is an ongoing investigation by the public prosecutor.

It is unclear what the cause of the incident was but when the socialist politician was preparing to head home for the night, he apparently started arguing with officers.

During this, officers say Rousseau made “shocking remarks”. Various Belgian outlets report the alleged comments were “racist and xenophobic” in nature, without giving specifics.

Following this, the officers decided to draw up an official report. Some newspapers claim the interchange between Rousseau and the police was filmed on an officer’s bodycam.

Experts, Media Wrong! COVID Vaccine mRNA Ends up in Mothers’ Milk

A new study of lactating women who took the COVID vaccine finds “trace mRNA amounts were detected” up to 45 hours after vaccination in the breast milk of 10 the women – contradicting the government’s and vaccine enthusiasts’ official narrative that mRNA was safe for breastfeeding moms and their infants because it did not travel throughout the body.

Britain’s Black History Hoax (e.g. Stonehenge was NOT Built by Black People)

“Brilliant Black British History” is the name of a new children’s book which claims, amongst other things, that Stonehenge was built by black people and that Britain was a black country for a lot longer than it was white. This book is the latest in a long series of print and online publications to claim that black people have been a notable presence in Britain for a lot longer than the traditionally accepted mid-20th century. Meloni’s naval blockade isn’t going to happen

Conservatives have been rallying around the idea of a naval blockade to defend Europe’s borders for years, but while the idea sounds great to many, few promoting such a blockade have ever described how it would look like in practice. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni gained traction for promoting the idea during her campaign for prime minister, and her supporters cheered her right into office.

A naval blockade, after all, sounds like a muscular response to a crisis that has long plagued Europe. France, Italy, and Germany do, after all, would have a formidable navy if they were to combine their forces. These same ships could be repurposed to protect Europe’s people from a deluge of migrants from the south.

However, Meloni herself was always short on details, simply calling for a “naval blockade,” and this may have been by design.

The reality is that based on current laws, the EU would not be able to enforce a naval blockade, nor does it want to. Maritime law dictates that the EU or Italy cannot enter within 12 miles of the coast of countries where migrants are disembarking, such as Tunisia or Libya.

Then, once migrants hit the open sea, EU authorities are not permitted to stop any ship as long as it is seaworthy, according to international law.

Finally, neither Italy nor any other country can permanently prevent migrants from docking in their ports, although they can cite safety reasons to temporarily deny a ship. Just ask Matteo Salvini. He has been dragged through the Italian court system with charges of “kidnapping” and could theoretically still face prison time for his efforts to prevent NGO migrant boats from docking in Italian ports.

Even if Italy were to prevent the rescue missions by NGO boats from operating entirely, it would have little effect on migration flows, as approximately 90 percent of all migrants land on Italian shores with their own intact boats. In short, most are making it across without any significant problem. The shipwrecks may make the news, but they represent only a tiny fraction of the overall numbers arriving in Italy.

A real naval blockade, as many typically imagine it, implies force. Will EU ships begin firing on migrants as they make their way to Europe? Will they ram migrant boats or use other aggressive tactics to discourage migrants? None of this is going to happen. Even if Italy was seeing a million migrants a year, instead of the already crisis-level 130,000 migrants who landed this year, Europe in its current configuration will do nothing openly that involves any kind of force.

That is not to say that, to some extent, aggressive tactics have not already been used. Greek authorities have been accused of using “pushbacks” against migrants at sea and land, and in many cases, these pushbacks have forced migrants to turn away. However, even with Greece’s aggressive tactics, which Human Rights Watch claims halted tens of thousands of migrants from entering Greek territory, the country has come under intense scrutiny and still faces massive problems with most migrants making it through.

There is also a limit to what Greek authorities are willing to do to stop the boats. Any aggressive actions taken remain under-the-radar tactics that an array of NGOs are calling illegal. In due time, Greek conservatives, if they lose power, could face investigations similar to what Salvini underwent.

At the same time, the truth is, the EU offloads the dirty work of keeping a tsunami of migrants from reaching the EU to third countries that use “pushbacks” with general impunity for a price — usually in the form of pay-offs called “economic aid” from the EU. Tunisia, Turkey, and other North African and Middle Eastern countries police their coasts with force, sometimes deadly force, and push migrants back to shore and deal with people smugglers, but it has cost the EU billions. When more handouts are needed or these countries desire to increase the political pressure on Europe for some geopolitical reason, enforcement is once again put on hold until more money flows or the EU throws some more sweeteners in, such as more visas, which in turn, means more immigration.

It would be more honest and transparent if the EU used its own forces for these border enforcement tasks, but the left-liberal ruling bloc would not maintain its cultural hegemony and instead prattles on about democracy, human rights, and “values” while Brussels pays these “authoritarian” governments on the other side of the Mediterranean to do the job for them.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who met with Meloni on the island of Lampedusa on Sunday last week, said that “irregular migration is a European challenge and it needs a European answer.” Meloni, after seeing what happened to Salvini when he attempted a uniquely Italian solution to the crisis, is also likely hoping that Europe steps in so she does not have to put her neck on the line. However, von der Leyen has and never will voice support for a naval blockade, instead proposing a maritime mission. In effect, any European naval ships on such a mission would do nothing more than escort migrants to ports in Italy.

As for von der Leyen’s vague 10-point plan to prevent immigration, which she also announced on Lampedusa, it includes aid to Tunisia, including investments in surveillance and maritime support. However, Salvini has pointed out a number of flaws in this approach, noting that these countries have been highly effective at taking money from the EU, but far less so at actually policing their borders — even if they do at times employ their own pushback methods.

Mostly, what von der Leyen plans to do, is relocate Italy’s migrants to countries like Poland and Hungary, which she alluded to when she said migrant relocation is becoming necessary in the face of the crisis. Her visit to Lampedusa was ultimately nothing more than a photo op and a bone she threw to Meloni, who has mostly played ball with the EU.

Is there any hope?

The EU is paralyzed because many of the laws in place were designed by very clever people, some of them decades ago, to tie its hands in the face of a migration crisis. Powerful NGOs, lawyers, judges, left-wing thinkers, and journalists built up a self-perpetuating system of endless migration that is designed to ebb and flow, but always march on indefinitely.

It will take a major change of power both in the EU and within some of the most powerful nations — namely Germany and France — to ever result in any real substantive change in immigration policy and not just lip service to trick the masses again and again.

Meloni could, in theory, take far more action against the immigration crisis, as France’s Marine Le Pen has called for — going so far as to characterize Meloni’s response as “cowardice” — but Meloni appears to only be capable of resorting to pleas to Brussels mixed in with tough talk to placate her base.

However, there are some moves being made that could somewhat help alleviate the crisis. Italy has, in response to the huge numbers arriving on Lampedusa, boosted its ability to detain migrants from the current three months to 18 months, the EU maximum. It will also build additional migrant centers to house these migrants. This could actually be effective on some level, forcing migrants who arrive into a highly unpalatable and lengthy detainment.

Italy has often failed to detain these migrants in the past, even for mere weeks, with many of them breaking out of these centers and heading to wealthier northern European countries, sometimes hundreds at a time. Italy may need to take a page out of the playbook of El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, who built the largest prison in Central America to house 40,000 gang members. Such detention centers would actually need to be not only unpleasant spaces, but also highly secure to ensure breakouts are not feasible — another unwelcome cost to the Italian taxpayer, but perhaps a worthwhile investment for a crisis that is leading to thousands of drowning deaths on the open sea and the demographic transformation of Europe.

Italy: League wants museum chief sacked over Muslim discount

Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini’s League party said Thursday that it was demanding the head of Christian Greco, the director of Turin’s Egyptian Museum, for a discount he gave in the past to Muslim visitors.
League Deputy Secretary Andrea Crippa said that Greco should “perform an act of dignity and resign,” arguing he was guilty of being “racist towards Italians and Christians”.
“We’ll do everything to have him kicked out and we ask Culture Minister (Gennaro) Sangiuliano to sack him if he doesn’t resign,” Crippa told Affaritaliani.it He said the case of the discount, which dates back some time, led to a legal battle that culminated with him being cleared after Greco reported him for asking people to protest against it.

Support for Mediterranean blockade grows as EU mulls migrant crackdown

Support across Europe for the implementation of a military blockade in the Mediterranean is growing amid the worsening migrant crisis on the Italian island of Lampedusa.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has been pushing heavily for the option since the recent arrival of thousands of migrants on the island. Eurocrats are saying that they are now considering the move.

An increasing number of Europeans appear to be keen on the option. A CSA poll in France found that as many as 69 per cent of the general public support a military blockade of the southern sea.

According to the data, backing for such an operation is slightly higher among the country’s women than men, with right-wing voters being the most likely to support the move.

The project also has backing from the centre-left, with just half of Socialist Party voters rejecting the move, while a slim majority of those supporting French President Emmanuel Macron’s Renaissance party are also said to be in favour.

Sentiments regarding the issue also appear to be slowly starting to shift in Brussels, with Berlaymont insisting that the European Commission is open to some sort of blockade being implemented. That is despite EC President Ursula von der Leyen repeatedly insisting that the bloc must meet its humanitarian obligations.

Even establishment politicians within traditionally pro-mass migration Germany are beginning to change their tune on Europe’s asylum surge.

With the pro-borders Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party gaining in popularity across the country, numerous parties have started to take a harsher stance on illegal immigration.

Ricarda Lang, the co-leader of the country’s Green party, has joined the debate on the anti-open borders side, attacking her coalition partners in the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and Free Democratic Party (FDP) for not doing enough to ensure rejected asylum seekers are deported.

Junge Union, the youth wing of the centre-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU), has demanded that rejected asylum seekers who cannot be deported should be detained instead.

“Rejected asylum seekers who cannot be deported must stay in return centres according to the Danish model,” said Junge Union leader Johannes Winkel.

The senior official went on to accuse those who opposed a tougher stance on migration of “irresponsibility”, adding that they were engaging in a “denial of reality”.
