The Central Statistics Office released statistics on 24 February 2023 regarding the most popular Irish baby names of 2022. The site recorded national rankings as well as popularity in specific regions and cities.
While predictable favourites like Jack and Fiadh topped the national rankings, many people were shocked to discover that the most popular baby boy name in Galway City in 2022 was Muhammad.
While Muhammad ranks as the most popular name for baby boys in Galway City in 2022, Jack was actually the most popular name countywide.
This is the first time that the popular Islamic name has topped a list of baby names in any Irish city.
This follows a trend in the UK and parts of northern Europe as variations of the name are said to have been the most popular baby boy name in the UK for the past six years.
Furthermore, the name has been the most popular name for baby boys in Brussels, Berlin, Malmo in Sweden, and the Parisian suburbs for many years.
Muhammad is an Arabic name that translates directly to “praiseworthy”. There are many variations of the name, including Muhammed, Muhamad, Mohammad, and Mohamed. It has one of the highest numbers of English spelling variations in the world.
The name is believed to be the most popular in the world. By 2014, it was estimated that the name was given to around 150 million boys around the world.
The majority of people with this name lived in the Middle East, North Africa, and Pakistan.
Looking at the name overall in Ireland, it ranked 86th nationally in 2022, with a total of 72 registered babies being given the name. That year, it was the most popular boy name in Galway City.
The popularity of the name in Galway follows a trend after years of mass migration from predominantly Muslim countries to northern Europe.
For girl names in Galway City, the most popular in 2022 were Lily and Saoirse. Meanwhile, Eabha was the most popular countywide.
Fiadh, Eabha, and Grace were the three most popular names around the country for girls. Anomalies include Zoey as the most popular name in Limerick City, Millie and Mia in Sligo, and Isla in Wicklow.
Jack and Noah dominated the rest of the country. Jack was the most popular in Limerick County and City, Kilkenny, Carlow, Mayo, Cork County, Monaghan, and more.
Noah was the most popular in Cork City, Louth, Sligo, Wicklow, Kerry, Kildare, Waterford City, and Westmeath. You can read the full findings here.

A 29-year-old Afghan migrant has been indicted for the rape of a 12-year-old girl who had run away from home in the French city of Nantes.
The suspect was formally charged on June 29 for the attack, which occurred in the early hours of June 11 under the Willy-Brandt bridge in the heart of the city.
According to the Ouest-France news outlet, the schoolgirl was found alone near the adjacent Aristide Briand Bridge at approximately 5 a.m. by a woman walking home from the New Factory nightclub on Rue de Rieux. The minor reportedly confided in her that she had been raped a few hours earlier, and the police were called to the scene.
The schoolgirl was meticulous in her description of her attacker and the events leading up to the rape. She told police she had left her home in the nearby Malakoff district at around 6 p.m. the day before. She was approached by a man initially for a conversation before she continued walking toward the city center.
She revealed the same man had followed her to a bus stop where he approached her again, this time violently grabbing her wrist and dragging her under the Willy Brandt Bridge. There, the girl was raped by the suspect, who then fled the scene.
“The young girl was able to provide us with an incredibly detailed description of her attacker’s attire: white cap, cargo pants and Nike Air Force 1 sneakers,” investigators told the press.
Authorities scoured surveillance footage and conducted fieldwork during a two-week investigation before locating a suspect who fit the description provided by the victim. The 29-year-old was arrested by police on June 28; police seized shoes, pants and a cap similar to what the victim said her attacker wore during a search of the suspect’s home.
Little has been reported about the man other than he is an Afghan migrant who has resided in France for more than five years.
He denies the allegation.

A parents’ organisation was reportedly prevented from opening an account with Metro Bank over opposition to allowing children to undergo life-altering transgender medical procedures, in the latest revelation of British banks banning customers for their political views.
Following Brexit leader Nigel Farage revealing nine banks have refused him accounts, a slew of people, mostly holding right-wing or conservative-leaning beliefs have revealed they have faced similar Chinese communist-style debanking in Britain.
According to a report from The Telegraph, the transgenderism-critical parents group Our Duty — which represents over 2,000 parents who are concerned about children being encouraged into medically transitioning their gender — has been refused a new account at the Metro Bank.
Our Duty’s founder Keith Jordan told the broadsheet they were notified by the bank they were not eligible for a business account because “the content of your website conflicts with the culture and ideas we are pushing”.
Metro Bank, which is the UK’s seventh-largest bank with some 2.5 million customers, reportedly joined the far-left LGBTQ+ Stonewall charity’s ‘Diversity Champion’ scheme, which the government’s Information Commissioner has previously claimed holds a “significant degree of influence” over the firms that sign up. Stonewall denies that it exerts any pressure over the operational decisions of the companies.
The claims from the parent’s group came after Brexit leader Nigel Farage has revealed that nine banks have refused to have him as a customer, with the GB News presenter suggesting that it has been a result of him being considered a Politically Exposed Person (PEP).
In a stunning move, Farage’s previous bank, Coutts, leaked to the BBC that the decision to drop him as a customer was a result of him falling below the financial threshold of having one million deposited in the bank. Mr Farage criticised the bank for leaking his private financial details after the political firestorm broke out after the debanking went public.
‘Mr Brexit’ also said that he had been below the threshold for some time before the decision to drop him was made by the bank. The BBC’s Simon Jack also acknowledged many other customers at the once prestigious bank had come forward saying that their accounts were unaffected by falling below the threshold.
Meanwhile, in another example of debanking in Britain, Anglo-Russian aristocrat Alexandra Tolstoy alleged the NatWest bank, which owns Coutts, had closed her account without providing a justification.
Tolstoy, a distant relative of author Leo Tolstoy, and the daughter of former UKIP politician Count Nikolai Tolstoy, said she believed the decision to drop her as a customer was a result of her name, as she does not air her political beliefs in public.
“The irony is it’s like the Soviet Union. Only they would at least tell you what you are accused of. Even in the kangaroo courts of Stalin, you knew what you were being accused of,” she told The Telegraph.
“It is absolutely extraordinary that this is happening in this country. I have no idea what I’m being accused of, maybe it’s a mistake, maybe it’s my name.”
At 6am on Thursday morning, German police officers raided the entire country. The target of the large-scale raid by the “Soko Buran”: a dangerous Islamist group that had concrete plans for attacks in Germany. The terrorists had also already acquired weapons.
Doors were broken down and radical Islamists arrested in Düsseldorf, Gladbeck, Gelsenkirchen, Warendorf, the Rhine-Sieg and Ennepe-Ruhr districts on Thursday. This was preceded by months of investigations against the group of Tajiks. These entered Germany with the start of the war in Ukraine in spring 2022, formed a terrorist organisation there from June 2022 at the latest, according to the newspaper Bild.
The men are said to have links to the Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISPK). Intelligence services say it is the most dangerous terrorist group in the world. It is suspected that parts of the group have even been deliberately smuggled into Germany to carry out attacks. The spokeswoman of the Federal Prosecutor General told the German newspaper: “The suspects have planned attacks in the style of the Islamic State in Germany. They have also already tried to obtain weapons and may have already spied on potential attack targets in Germany.”

The Department of Education launched a civil rights investigation of a Georgia school district for pulling books containing graphic sexual content from middle school shelves. At a Pride Month event at the White House, it was announced that a special coordinator would be waging lawfare against schools that try to shield children.
The Biden administration sued Tennessee over the ‘Protecting Children from Gender Mutilation Act’. Democrat judges have illegally blocked similar measures in Florida, Arkansas and Alabama. In Washington and California, Democrat majorities legalized the abduction of children by the state for transgender procedures. Similar legislation is pending in other states.
“This game of defense can get tiring. We want offense,” HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra demanded at a Health and Human Services ‘Pride Summit’. “Let’s play on the offensive.”
Beyond the usual motives of groomers looking for fresh victims, what is behind the unprecedented obsession with sexualizing children by an entire political party?
State schools were always meant to indoctrinate a new generation. Modern schools are community organizing centers and the ideal educator is a community organizer. American students are falling behind in most areas, but they are succeeding at what they have really been taught, to march out of school and rally for gun control, the environment or for racial equity.
Beyond indoctrination, community organizing sets out to ‘raise their consciousness’ so that the students see themselves as victims in the major political conflicts, like gun control or environmentalism, and then to shift them into the permanent category of victim activists.
Conventional community organizing rallies racial minority students to see themselves as the victims of racism and female students as the victims of sexism, while sexual community organizing takes students who may have no defining victim category and gives them one.
Grooming children in schools isn’t just a perverted agenda, it’s a political one.
The Democrat electoral agenda depends on building coalitions of minority groups. Sexual community organizing in schools is a machine meant to expand that coalition. Every teenage girl tracked for a mastectomy and every teenage boy for castration is a future Democrat voter.
Pagan priests of the Syrian Astarte of Hierapolis would castrate themselves in honor of the ancient goddess and then wear female clothing for the rest of their lives. Puberty blockers for young children, followed by genital mutilation, like political rallies, is similarly part of the ritual indoctrination into a political movement. And while young activists can turn their lives around as they get older, once an irrevocable decision has been made, it’s much harder to walk away.
There’s a quote that has long made the rounds. “If a man is not a socialist by the time he is 20, he has no heart. If he is not a conservative by the time he is 40, he has no brain.” But what happens if the man is not a man and is missing parts other than his heart or his brain?
Minority coalitions are based on what identity politics considers to be immutable and defining characteristics. Race and, until recently, sex was considered to be among them. Sexual identity politics vastly expanded the potential scope of minority demographics. Surveys describe up to a fifth of millennials identifying as LGBTQ. There is every reason to be skeptical of such numbers and many will move past such trendy obsessions, but ‘gender-affirming care’ will lock them in.
Grooming children is at the heart of the electoral strategy for winning the future. That is why Biden and the Democrats are willing to risk their political presence for something so widely unpopular, controversial and which parents across the country are rallying to oppose.
Environmentalism and gun control are used to convince students that their lives are at stake. Student loans manufactured by deliberately hiking college costs to unsustainable levels tether the economic future of a generation to socialist policies. Sexual community organizing captures the next generation on a much more intimate and inescapable level than ordinary policies.
A woke educational and medical establishment have created a school-to-castrato pipeline that rushes students through the process of ‘social transition’, puberty blockers and then irreversible surgeries that make them incapable of living a normal life or functioning as non-transgender.
Much as the black community was locked into dysfunction and dependency, the urge to rush children into making irreversible decisions about their bodies is about demographic capture. Identity politics promises liberation while enslaving reliable constituencies and voting blocs. But no single group has been more sinned against by plantation politics than the children and their families, mutilated and destroyed to provide votes for a political party.
That’s why Democrats are willing to fight to the death. It’s why the Department of Justice plotted to investigate resistant parents as terrorists, why the Southern Poverty Law Center named Moms for Liberty a hate group, why Democrat judges block state measures to protect children, and why the HHS Secretary is calling for going on the offense against parents.
Democrats are building the future of their party around the sexualization and mutilation of children. The political math is as simple as it is cruel. Some 80% of LGBTQ people vote for Democrats. Much like open borders, Democrats are artificially reshaping national demographics to create a favorable electorate. These policies aren’t about progress, but about winning.
“To put it brutally – you can’t make an omelet without breaking eggs,” New York Times foreign correspondent Walter Duranty wrote of the crimes of Communism.
Castrating kids to win elections is a horrifying strategy, but so is organizing a mass invasion of the country through an open border or destroying black families and then legalizing crime.
Millions of broken eggs are how the great leftist omelet is made in the kitchens of utopia.
When the ends justify the means then no crime, no matter how horrendous, is too extreme and everything, even the sexual abuse of children, can be spun as social justice that will take us to the right side of history by way of the lowest depths of hell.

Philly Soros DA Larry Krasner, like the rest of his pro-crime comrades, has a firm position on not prosecuting criminals. After transgender BLM supporter Kimbrady Carriker shot up a party, Krasner is blaming the GOP.
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner on Tuesday urged Pennsylvanians to vote out gun-worshipping GOP lawmakers after a mass shooting in the city killed five adults and wounded two children. (
“It is time for everybody and our legislature, including the ones who would like to walk around with an AR-15 lapel pin,” Krasner said, referring to Republicans including U.S. Reps. George Santos (R-N.Y.) and Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) who have worn the pins to support the Second Amendment. “It is time for every one of them to face the voters.”
“And if they’re not going to do something, then voters are going to have to vote them out because that’s what that lapel pin means. It means ‘Vote me out. I am against you, and I’m against your safety.’”
DA Krasner has led a one-man war on public safety. He was so bad that the Pennsylvania House of Representatives impeached Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner by a vote of 107-85 because he refused to do his job and prosecute criminals.
Philly Mag noted that gun crime is up because Krasner refuses to prosecute criminals.
As the Inquirer reported on June 23rd, Krasner is funneling an increased number of gun cases to a court diversionary program called Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD). In 2018, Krasner’s first year as district attorney, 78 cases were sent to the ARD program, compared with 12 the previous year.
Why does this matter? Because criminals who carry guns usually intend to use them.
Maalik Jackson-Wallace, for example, was given a second chance by Krasner’s office. Jackson-Wallace, whose case was highlighted by the Inquirer, was initially arrested on a gun possession charge. The case was sent to ARD and Jackson-Wallace received probation. He was arrested a second time for gun possession and released on unsecured bail. On June 13th, he was arrested again and charged with murder; police say he shot and killed a 26-year-old man. (Jackson-Wallace’s attorney claims it was in self-defense.)
Kimbrady Carriker had a previous gun conviction so why was he on the loose?
Krasner’s office is focusing on the important things, blaming Republicans for a transgender BLM mass shooter and being careful about using his pronouns.
It’s unclear if Carriker, whom prosecutors are referring to using they/them pronouns, has an attorney.
Mr. Carriker was a member of two protected classes and so immune from action until he killed a bunch of people.
The Philadelphia gunman who left five dead has been unmasked as a cross-dressing Black Lives Matter supporter who made chilling Facebook posts about ‘evil spirits.’
He had posted eerie articles to Facebook titled: ‘How do you know if an evil spirit is following you,’ as well as a photo of a map listing historic ‘black massacres’ throughout the US with the caption stating: ‘We kept the receipts.’
In May 2020, Carriker posted a video to his Facebook of a burning Philadelphia police car that had been daubed in graffiti with the letters, ‘ACAB,’ which stands for ‘All Cops Are B******s.’
On his social media pages, Carriker regularly posted about supporting Black Lives Matter, including his support for workers who protested in the Strike For Black Lives in July 2020.
This is one of Krasner’s people. It’s the kind of criminals that pro-crime DAs like him were elected to protect.

The autopsy revealed that the fatal shot hit Nahel in the chest after penetrating the teenager’s front windscreen and wrist. During the investigation at the scene, the police officers stated that they heard the victim’s grandmother say threatening words, “The two policemen will not escape from my hands. I will wait for them (…) Tomorrow is mutton day, I will cut the throats of those who shot my son. There is a terrorist who will catch them all”. Since then, the grieving woman has called for calm. A fundraiser to support the family of the French police officer who shot and killed a runaway teenager driver has been disabled by the organizer after surpassing €1.6 million.
The GoFundMe campaign launched six days ago had amassed 85,105 individual donations from members of the public expressing solidarity with the officer before the ability to add further donations was paused on Wednesday evening with the total at €1,636,190.
The officer, known as Florian M., was detained and held on homicide charges after shooting dead 17-year-old Nahel M., a boy of Algerian descent who had attempted to drive off after being stopped by police.
A formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is now underway.
The incident has sparked mass rioting across major French cities, resulting in several fatalities including that of an on-duty firefighter and upwards of €1 billion in damage; hundreds of businesses have been looted, vehicles torched, and even residential apartments burned to the ground.
The popularity of the fundraiser, which states its support for Florian M. “who has done his job and is now paying a high price,” is consistent with Ifop polling published by Le Figaro newspaper last week. The survey showed a majority of French citizens (57 percent) trust or sympathize with the police; 69 percent of respondents condemned the rioters and backed a state of emergency being invoked by the French government.
A separate fundraiser was also launched to provide support to the mother of the deceased teenager and has received €424,544 — a quarter of the funds achieved for the police officers’ family.
The crowdfunder for Florian M. and his family was widely criticized by left-wing French politicians, who claimed it sent the wrong message.
“The assumed message is ‘kill Arabs and you will become millionaires,’” wrote David Guiraud, an MP for the La France Insoumise (LFI) party.
Even prominent members of the French government attacked the fundraiser, including Minister Delegate of Cities and Housing Olivier Klein, who claimed it was associated with an ulterior motive of the “extreme right,” and Justice Minister Éric Dupond-Moretti, who told France Inter it did “not serve to calm the situation” in the country.
It is unknown whether or not the crowdfunder will resume, nor whether the French government has intervened to request its removal.
Jean Messiha, the organizer of the fundraiser who is an economist, former senior civil servant, and the president of the Vivre Français think tank, has faced accusations of “organized gang fraud” and corruption from the deceased’s family in relation to the funds, allegations he intends to contest in court.
“How is it a provocation to help a family that is in turmoil? This policeman is sleeping in prison, he has a wife and a young child who have been forced to leave their accommodation because their address was broadcast on social networks,” Messiha told CNews’ “Morandini Live” program Wednesday.
“The political system has mobilized for Nahel, but who has mobilized for this policeman and his family?
“Losing a child is horrible, I understand it very well. I have never criticized Nahel’s mother. But why will it be necessary to overwhelm the policeman’s family?” he asked.
Messiha vehemently denied any wrongdoing regarding the campaign and insisted they are ring-fenced solely for the policeman’s family.
“Who did I defraud? Who is the gang? I am in contact with the policeman’s wife, who is the only beneficiary. I am also in contact with his lawyer. I have no intention of doing anything outside the law,” he added.
