French Navy Forced Ferry Out of the Way to Make Room for Warship Escorting Boat Migrants into UK Waters

The French Navy forced a cross-Channel ferry to perform a dangerous manoeuvre so that the warship could escort illegal migrant boats into UK waters on Easter, a report has claimed.

According to naval charts seen by the Daily Mail, a French warship forced the P&O ferry Spirit of Britain to take a detour in the busy English Channel during difficult weather conditions on Easter Sunday to make way for it to escort two small boats carrying around 90 illegal migrants into British waters and hand them over to the UK Border Force rather than simply returning them to France.

In a message to the ferry, a female French officer reportedly said: “I am currently ahead of you for three nautical miles. About to start operation with two small migrant craft and Border Force Typhoon. Is it possible for you to take a wide berth on your port side?”

This was corrected by the Spirit of Britain officer, who informed the French warship that the actual distance was five nautical miles and added: “Unfortunately, due to the shipping traffic we can’t come to port in restricted visibility. So, we will alter course to starboard.”

Speaking to the British paper, English fishermen criticised the move by the French naval vessel as it was a “dangerous operation which could have cost lives of migrants and seamen”.

One fishing boat captain said: “Visibility was down to 100 metres because of heavy fog. The French warship made an erratic course through the shipping lane after telling the ferry to get out of its way.”

“The sole aim of the operation seemed to be getting the two migrant boats out of French waters and handed over to the British as swiftly as possible.”

The practice of the French Navy to escort people smuggler-operated small boats into British waters has been long-standing, with the French claiming that it would somehow be more dangerous for them to try to return the boats to the beaches where they set off from.

It was first uncovered by Brexit leader Nigel Farage in 2020 when he filmed an “absolutely packed” migrant boat in the English Channel being shadowed by the French Navy into UK territorial waters, where the migrants were ultimately handed off to the UK Border Force.

The footage from Farage was later backed up by reporting from Breitbart London, which revealed that the French Navy’s own transponder data showed the French not only handed over migrants on the day Mr Farage filmed but had likely done the same procedure the week before, as well.

So far this year, around 5,000 illegals have been recorded as successfully crossing the Channel, with 1,000 arriving on British beaches in the past week, alone. The uptick in people smuggler gang-facilitated crossings comes despite UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak signing a deal with President Emmanuel Macron last month to see patrols of French coasts increased.

Yet, the latest payoff to Paris — worth £478 million (€541 million) in British taxpayer money over the next three years — made no mention of returning migrants back to France. The failure of the government to secure such a deal from France or at the EU level has resulted in further issues in attempts to deport illegals, with the Home Office only managing to remove 215 illegals out of the 45,000 who arrived last year.

Migrants: EU ‘in contact’ with Rome over state of emergency

screen grab youtube

The European Commission said Wednesday that it was “in contact” with Rome after the Italian government on Tuesday declared a national state of emergency over the big rise in the number of migrants and refugees arriving in Italy. “The European Commission has taken note of Italy’s decision to declare a state of emergency over migrants,” an EC spokesperson said. “It is a decision of a national nature and stems from a highly difficult situation caused by the increase in the number of arrivals. “The Commission will examine in detail the measures foreseen (in the decree).” The spokesperson added that “Italy has asked for financial assistance from the European Commission because of the increase in migrant arrivals, in particularly to address the critical situation in the Lampedusa (migrant) hotspot”. The spokesperson said that the EU already supports Italy “with a wide range of measures” including “expertise on the field” and stressing that “Italy is one of the main beneficiaries of the fund for migration and integration”.

UK Muslim ‘Rights’ Group Blames Parents for Murder of Daughters

Controversial Muslim advocacy group CAGE has been accused of “excusing deliberate murder and inciting hatred” in a social media response to the killing of the two British-Israeli sisters Maia and Rina Dee.

In an inflammatory Twitter thread posted on the official CAGE page on the platform, the parents of the two sister’s, who were shot dead in the West Bank last Friday, were openly accused of provoking the scenario in which their two daughters lost their lives.

Condemning Rabbi Leo Dee, and wife Lucy, who later also died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the terror attack near the Jordan Valley, for moving from their home in Radlett, Hertfordshire to the West Bank settlement of Efrat, the group tweeted:”We are told of two sisters killed. We are not told of the choices made by parents to put them in harms way.”

In an angry response to the threat, the leading barrister Simon Myerson KC, wrote:”Thread by antisemites excusing deliberate murder and inciting hatred.”

Myerson added in a further post:”Antisemites resort to pomposity in desperate effort to blame murders of three women on the victims for their choice of home (within the borders of Israel as set out in 1948). Racism isn’t acceptable and CAGE are racist.

“Shun them – for your own self-respect.”

CAGE have previously been condemned “as “apologists for terror” with one member of the group previously describing ISIS killer Jihadi John a “beautiful young man”.

The Community Security Trust have also condemned the group’s website for displaying “antisemitic” material.

Elsewhere in their threat CAGE also attempted to compare and contrast the outpouring of shock and horror at the murder of the British-Israeli Dee family, with what the reaction to Shamima Begum, the 15 year-old girl who travelled to Syria to join ISIS, and lost her legal case to return to the UK.

They wrote:”We do not mourn as a UK nation the actions of “stupid” and “impressionable” schoolgirls that go off to Syria and are killed.

“Our leading policymakers and judges unite to exclude the survivor Shamima Begum from returning home.”

In a thread posted in the early hours of Monday morning CAGE alleged: “This journey started in practical terms from the moment two British citizens decided to take a further journey to the land of Palestine, with their family.

“There, they consciously chose to settle in a territory that has been colonized by a state that has no right to exist under international law.”

CAGE continued :”We are told of two sisters killed.

“We are not told of the choices made by parents to put them in harms way. Tragic as it is for any loss of life, the family that took this choice did so knowingly of the provocation they were making when doing so.”

The sinisterly worded “Thread on the death of two British Citizens in Palestine” had begun with the claim it had been posted “to understand how we got to where we are.”

In their own response to Jewish legal expert Myerson, CAGE tweeted:”You eviscerate the horrors of antisemitism and dehumanise Palestinian victims when you lay that charge on any examination or criticism of settler colonialism and the apartheid state.”

The group added:”Getting emotional on twitter is fine. However, please avoid using antisemitism as a cover for old fashioned settler colonialism. The type of people Israel and UAE are promoting in the West are dangerous for both Muslims and Jews as well as other minorities.”

CAGE were not alone in attempting to blame the Dee family for the tragic murders.

Following confirmation on Monday that 48 year-old Lucy Dee, the two sister’s mother, had become the third victim of Friday’s terror attack, the Brighton BDS group tweeted:”So sad that the family, who today lost their mother as well as 2 daughters, decided to leave the UK to move to an illegal West Bank settlement, knowing they were part of a policy of political/religious colonialism that is based on the violent dispossession of Palestinians.”

Jewish News have contacted CAGE for further comment on the response to the Dee family murders.

Russia’s Rise

Bernard MARTI (self)),  CC-BY-SA-2.5

By Patricia Adams and Lawrence Solomon

The West’s sweeping sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine are shaping up to be the West’s most monumental miscalculation in modern history.  The sanctions have not brought the Russian economy to its knees, as was widely predicted.  Instead, it’s the Western economies that are reeling, their economic growth all but stopped.  Many of them are simultaneously suffering from both high inflation and energy shortages.

Russia, meanwhile, is not only surviving but thriving, acquiring more potency and prestige throughout Asia, Africa and South America than at any time since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

According to the IMF, the Russian economy will grow faster than Germany’s or the UK’s this year.  Next year, it will also grow faster than those of the U.S., Japan, Italy, and much of the rest of the West, its growth in GDP per capita will exceed that of the advanced economies as a whole, and it will achieve the lowest debt-to-GDP ratio among the G20 nations.  Russia’s unemployment rate of 3.5% is the lowest since the Soviet Union fell.  Russia’s economic performance — S&P Global recently confirmed its bullish private sector business confidence — is all the more remarkable since Russia is simultaneously fighting an expensive proxy war against the combined weight of the armories of the West.

As NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters at the U.S. State Department in February, the West to date has provided unprecedented support to Ukraine, with around $120 billion in military, humanitarian and financial assistance.  The transfer of military materiel has been so extensive that many of the NATO countries’ arsenals have been depleted: Germany is down to two daysof ammunition and is now unable to defend itself, according to the country’s defence minister; the UK’s stockpiles of ammunition would last but a few days in battle; France is facing “a major shortage of munitions,” and the US military now doubts its ability to both continue to supply Ukraine and maintain its own readiness.  “The current rate of Ukraine’s ammunition expenditure is many times higher than our current production rate,” states Stoltenberg.

Yet Russia has been able to ramp up its own military production rate so effectively that its artillery can massively out-pound Ukraine’s, firing between 40,000 and 50,000 shells per day versus Ukraine’s 5,000-6,000.  While Russia’s arms production is on a high-output war footing, the West’s has been unable to keep pace.  America’s focus on supplying Ukraine has compromised its ability to meet other goals, such as deterring China’s expansion and maintaining readiness to respond elsewhere.

Russia’s military robustness is all the more noteworthy given that it has the world’s largest nuclear arsenal and a now-close alliance with China’s military.  The ascendancy of what is dubbed the “Russia-China axis” and the widespread perception of the West’s decline has in turn convinced other militaries to associate with a winner.  In September, India, Laos, Mongolia, Nicaragua and various former Soviet states joined Russia and China in war games in the Sea of Japan and Russia’s Far East, and in February, South Africa hosted Russia and China for 10 days of joint naval drills.

Russia’s diplomatic standing is also ascendant.  While the U.S.  succeeded in lobbying Western countries to sanction Russia, sometimes through coercion, its heavy-handedness had the opposite effect elsewhere.  In Asia, both China and India have dramatically deepened their ties to Russia.  In South America, Russia is embraced by the new socialist government of its largest economy, Brazil, as it was by Brazil’s former conservative government.  In the Middle East, where the U.S.  is widely distrusted, Russia has good relations with Israel as well as with all the major Muslim nations, whether Sunni or Shia, Arab or Turkish.  In Africa, where Russia is viewed as the only major European country to eschew colonialism, Russia is widely feted, unlike former colonial powers such as France, whose troops have recently been evicted from Mali and Burkina Faso, and where French President Macron confirmed that “the age of Françafrique is over.”

While Russia may be shunned by the West, it is welcomed by most of the rest, as seen in the regional alliances in which Russia plays a leading role: the Russia-China-led Shanghai Cooperation Council, which includes former Soviet countries as well as India and Pakistan, and the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), whose GDP now exceeds that of the G7.  Some two dozen countries have expressed interest in joining Russia in these economic and security alliances, including major regional powers such as Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, Indonesia, and Mexico.

Russia’s rise will be news to Western audiences, which for decades have been prey to a demonization of Russia, and since its invasion of Ukraine have been fed a steady diet of Russia’s decline.  “Business Retreats and Sanctions are Crippling Russian Economy,” a Yale School of Management study published last summer, may have been correct in claiming that “Russia has lost companies representing ~40% of its GDP, reversing nearly all of three decades worth of foreign investment,” but it failed to anticipate that Russia would quickly recover in a more self-reliant form.

The West’s sanctions, the most severe ever imposed on a country, were meant to teach Russia the lesson that “aggression does not pay,” in the words of NATO’s Stoltenberg.  The ferocity of the sanctions, the subsequent cancellation of Russian artists and athletes in the West, and expectation of an end of the Russian Federation by political and military elites such as Former Commanding General of the US Army in Europe, General Ben Hodges, shocked Russia out of its complacency, and led it to learn very different lessons: That the West was determined to destroy it, and that its existence required it to arm itself to the teeth and end its economic interdependence with the West.

The sanctions on Russia awoke the sleeping giant that had been Russia, and the West may soon be faced with the consequences.

Religiously and racially motivated sexual grooming gangs targeting non-Muslim girls: Joint faith group writes to UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman

Suella Braverman

On April 12, a joint faith group wrote to Suella Braverman KC MP, Secretary of State for the Home Department of the UK government, expressing their views on the ongoing efforts of the government to curb grooming gangs in the country.

The joint faith group extended their support to the ongoing efforts of Home Secretary Suella Braverman to curb the grooming gangs operating around the UK. Calling it a difficult and sensitive matter, the joint faith group praised the MP for courageously speaking on the over-representation of British Pakistani men in sex grooming gangs.

It read, “The evidence contained within a number of independent inquiries – Rotherham, Telford, and Rochdale support her position on what is indeed a sensitive and difficult matter.” The joint faith group pointed out that the evidence based on the previous cases points towards the fact that non-Muslim girls including Hindu, Sikh, and White Christian girls are being systematically targeted in the country. The reason behind targeting them has been mentioned as a ‘form of religiously and racially motivated hatred’ towards non-Muslims.

They added that the act of a “small minority” of Pakistani men who see white girls as fair game, as suggested by Baroness Warsi in a statement, has stained the whole community that is “otherwise a law-abiding community”. “The unfortunate consequence of government and police inaction in protecting victims is the hate-filled narrative of far-right groups, who maliciously and falsely label all Pakistani Muslim men as ‘groomers’. We can’t allow them to hijack the debate with their poisonous and divisive message, nor can we allow political correctness to stifle obtaining justice for victims by addressing the actions of a minority. Indeed, police failures in protecting young girls from grooming gangs have also contributed to rising community tensions in the UK and have negatively impacted social cohesion,” the letter read.

Citing different cases, the group pointed out that the Rotherham survivor confirmed in her statement that she was targeted for being non-Muslim. In a case from Rochdale in 2012, Judge Gerald Clifton made a similar observation while sentencing the culprits. The judge noted the Muslim men had targeted their victims because they were not part of the offenders’ ‘community or religion.’

The joint faith group added the issue of grooming gangs is not a new phenomenon for the country as the Hindu and Sikh communities in the UK have been raising the issue since the 1980s. High-profile cases of Rotherham, Telford, and Rochdale came much later. Furthermore, BBC1’s Inside Out programme in 2013 was the first time media covered Sikh girls being targeted by grooming gangs. The Times also covered the cases in Leicester where several men were sentenced. In 2018, a BBC report was pulled possibly out of “fear of offending the Muslim community”.

The joint faith group further called for more discussions on the cases including that of Telford, Rotherham, and Rochdale. They said these discussions should not be censored by fear of being labeled ‘racist’ or ‘Islamophobic’.

The response was sent on behalf of Lord Singh of Wimbledon, Director, Network of Sikh Organisations, Mohan Singh Khalsa, The Sikh Awareness Society UK, Dal Singh Dhesi, The Sikh Youth Movement UK, Anil Bhanot OBE, Interfaith Relations Director, Hindu Council UK, Pt Satish K Sharma MBCS FRSA, Director, Global Hindu Federation, Vinod Popat, The British Hindu Voice, Hindu Community Organisations Group and Ashish Joshi, The Media Monitoring Group UK.

Speaking to OpIndia, Pt Satish K Sharma said, “According to survivors, this problem is worse today than ever and the refusal to provide such vulnerable victims with even a semblance of justice, is directly attributable to the betrayal of the British Justice system. The lack of political will is clearly attributable to vote bank domination, which if still unacknowledged by Parliamentarians, especially Labour MPs, means no young child is safe in this country unless protected at all times, by parents. I’m hearing on the streets, the question “Of what value is such a Parliament?’ which does not bode well for British democracy.”

UK Government’s action against grooming gangs

On April 3, the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced a new Grooming Gangs Taskforce to assist police forces in investigating the serious problem of Muslim grooming gangs in the country. As per the official statement from his office, the task force will have specialist officers to assist in the investigation to ensure the criminals behind grooming gangs will be brought to justice.

The announcement came a day after Home Secretary Suella Braverman lashed out at the previous governments for ignoring the grooming gang menace in the country. Mandatory reporting, as suggested by the Home Secretary, was one of the key recommendations given after an independent inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse cases.

UK Muslim groups upset with Suella Braverman

On April 11, it was reported that Muslim organizations from all around the UK wrote to Rishi Sunak to express their deep concern on what they called home secretary Suella Braverman’s “ill-considered and divisive statement”. Muslim groups called for the withdrawal of the statement immediately. Muslim organisations in England, Wales, and Scotland described it as “an act of collective punishment for the reprehensible acts of a few”.

Nearly 19,000 children were sexually abused in England in 2018-2019

According to the official figures, it is estimated that nearly 19,000 minors in England were sexually groomed in England in the last year, reported Dailymail. The local authorities in England identified around 18,700 suspected victims in 2018-19, up from 3,300 five years ago. The latest figures showed a sharp increase in the number of child grooming victims over the last five years.

The highest rates of child grooming victims in Britain were reported in areas including Birmingham, Lancashire, and Bradford. One of the most horrific cases was of Charlene Downes who disappeared from Lancashire. She was feared to be groomed by Muslim gangs and murdered. Her body was allegedly minced into pieces and served as kebabs to customers at a takeaway restaurant in the area.

Support for mass immigration among French left has plummeted in last 5 years

The number of those on the left of French politics who believe the level of immigration into the country is too high has almost doubled in the last four years, according to a new study.

An in-depth survey, conducted by French research and consulting group, BVA France, observed a hardening on the topic of immigration across the French public when compared with the same study conducted in 2018.

Nearly seven out of 10 French people (69 percent) believe “there are too many immigrants in France today,” a view that has seen an increase in support of six points compared to the 2018 study. However, when analyzing the attitude of those who affiliate with left-leaning political parties, this statement is supported by 48 percent, up 21 points in just five years.

Adélaïde Zulfikarpasic, general manager of BVA France, discussed the results with Fondation Jean-Jaurès, a French think tank associated with the Socialist Party, in a bid to ascertain why politically left-leaning French nationals have become disillusioned with the country’s liberal migration policy, and to analyze the extent to which the topic of immigration has now become an issue of concern across the French political divide.

The notion that France now welcomes too many immigrants is naturally one that receives majority support from voters for the National Rally (95 percent) and Reconquête! (93 percent). However, even within Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s left-wing populist La France Insoumise party, a majority of supporters (51 percent) agree with the statement, and one in two (50 percent) supporters of Europe Écologie Les Verts (“The Greens”) agree with the statement. This is an increase of 20 percent and 22 percent, respectively, in support of the statement among those who affiliate themselves with the two left-wing parties when compared to the 2018 study.

Although a minority (43 percent) still agree that France has too much immigration among supporters of the Socialist Party, this figure has also increased by 18 points in five years.

On a second statement regarding the extent to which French people believe immigrants are “well integrated in France,” just 39 percent of respondents agreed, compared to 60 percent who do not agree.

Again, typically a majority of National Rally, Les Républicains, and Reconquête! supporters strongly disagreed with the statement, but those among the French left did as well. La France Insoumise was the only party that had a majority of supporters agreeing with the statement, with 53 percent, while just 43 percent of the Greens and 42 percent of Socialist Party supporters believe immigrants have integrated well into French society.

Upon analysis of the wider results of the study, Adélaïde Zulfikarpasic noted that the French population can be divided into three main categories. “The open (are) individuals who do not agree with the idea that there are too many immigrants in France today. They represent 31 percent of the population compared to 35 percent in 2018.”

Second is “the reserved,” which is comprised of individuals “who feel that there are too many immigrants in France today but who, at the same time, think that France should welcome refugees who seek asylum. These represent 35 percent of the population,” Zulfikarpasic said.

And lastly, “the refractors,” who believe that there are too many immigrants in France today and who do not agree with the idea that France should welcome refugees who seek asylum. Zulfikarpasic noted that this category has strengthened in the past few years and now represents 34 percent of French society, up by four points over 2018.

“We therefore measure it quite clearly: The opinions of the French on the subject of immigration have hardened. However, this development is not the prerogative of the right. And now, nearly one in two supporters of the left, as we have seen, believe that there are too many immigrants in France,” Zulfikarpasic told Fondation Jean-Jaurès. “And barely one in two consider that, in general, immigrants are well integrated in our country.”

The study results are published at a time when the French government is proposing a new immigration bill — one that has been pushed back on the government agenda after being deemed too politically explosive at a time when French society is already highly charged over President Emmanuel Macron’s controversial pension reforms.

“Moreover, 83 percent of French people consider it difficult to talk about immigration today,” Zulfikarpasic concluded. “The upcoming review of the immigration bill will be an opportunity to put it at the center of the table.”

Catholic Biden Hits Priests With Cease and Desist Order – When Freedom of Religion died

Walter Reed Army Hospital, Washington, D.C, Library of Congress‘s Prints and Photographs division, PD-Highsmith

Catholic priests who minister at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center were issued a “cease and desist order” just before Holy Week.

I warned you that a day was fast-approaching when people who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ would be shunned from the public marketplace. That’s why I wrote “Culture Jihad: How to Stop the Left From Killing a Nation.”

In a statement on Saturday, Walter Reed said the center is a “welcoming and healing environment that honors and supports a full range of religious, spiritual, and cultural needs.”

The Holy Name College Friary had been providing priests to the hospital for nearly two decades, according to the Catholic Archdiocese for the Military Services.

“It is incomprehensible that essential pastoral care is taken away from the sick and the aged when it was so readily available,” Archbishop Timothy Broglio said in a statement. “This is a classic case where the adage ‘if it is not broken, do not fix it’ applies.”

The White House needs to explain why a Catholic president would banish Catholic priests from a military hospital just before Holy Week.

“Especially, during Holy Week, the lack of adequate Catholic pastoral care causes untold and irreparable harm to Catholics who are hospitalized and therefore a captive population whose religious rights the government has a constitutional duty to provide for and protect,” the diocese said.

The medical center is reportedly going to replace the priests with a government-approved, for-profit contractor to provide Catholic ministry. In other words, don’t be surprised if Ray Epps or his cronies at the FBI are sporting clerical collars and hearing your confessions.

“The refusal to provide adequate pastoral care while awarding a contract for Catholic ministry to a for-profit company that has no way of providing Catholic priests to the medical center is a glaring violation of service members’ and veterans’ Right to the Free Exercise of Religion,” the archdiocese said.

Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) condemned the Biden administration’s decision.

“Priests and pastors guided our troops through the darkest days of our toughest battles,” she wrote on Twitter. “The Biden Admin chose Easter weekend to kick Catholic priests out of Walter Reed, violating their First Amendment right to free exercise of religion. The House will not allow this to stand.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene slammed the administration, calling the decision “embarrassing and wrong.”

“This is another attack on the church, and this time, directed at our military,” Greene wrote on Twitter.

I’m a Baptist and I’m proud to stand alongside Catholic patriots as they are being targeted.

It’s imperative for every freedom-loving person of faith in America to rise up and condemn this blatant anti-Catholic bigotry.

And I hope you will remember on Election Day that Catholic President Joe Biden denied hospitalized military veterans access to Catholic priests during Holy Week.

Koran should be read at Prince Charles’ coronation says top bishop: Critics attack proposal and accuse Church of England of ‘losing confidence’ in its own traditions

Prince Charles’s coronation service should be opened with a reading from the Koran, a senior Church of England bishop said yesterday.

The gesture would be a ‘creative act of accommodation’ to make Muslims feel ‘embraced’ by the nation, Lord Harries of Pentregarth said.

But critics attacked the idea, accusing the Church of ‘losing confidence’ in its own institutions and traditions.

Lord Harries, a former Bishop of Oxford and a leading CofE liberal thinker, said he was sure Charles’s coronation would give scope to leaders of non-Christian religions to give their blessing to the new King.

The former Bishop of Oxford, who continues to serve as an assistant bishop in the diocese of Southwark, made the suggestion about the Koran during a House of Lords debate. He told peers the Church of England should take the lead in ‘exercising its historic position in a hospitable way’.

He said that at a civic service in Bristol Cathedral last year authorities had agreed to a reading of the opening passage of the Koran before the beginning of the Christian ritual. He said: ‘It was a brilliant creative act of accommodation that made the Muslim high sheriff feel, as she said, warmly embraced but did not alienate the core congregation.

‘That principle of hospitality can and should be reflected in many public ceremonies, including the next coronation service.’

Lord Harries’ suggestion comes more than 20 years after the Prince first said he would prefer to be seen as ‘Defender of Faith’ rather than be known by the monarch’s title of ‘Defender of the Faith’.

Charles said in 1994 he ‘always felt the Catholic subjects of the sovereign are equally as important as the Anglican ones, as the Protestant ones’.

‘Likewise, I think that Islamic subjects, or the Hindu subjects, or the Zoroastrian subjects of the sovereign, are of equal and vital importance.’ In 2006 the Prince made known that he wanted a multifaith coronation that would be more ‘focused and telecentric’ than his mother’s in 1953.

However traditionalist Christians condemned Lord Harries’s idea.

Sweden: Islamic Academy denounces municipal gastronomy festival in Malmö held during Ramadan

In a post on social media, Valley Ghanem from the Islamic Academy complains that a gastronomic festival is being held in Malmö parallel to the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. It turns out that Ghanem has a habit of labelling everything around her that she doesn’t like as “Islamophobia”.

Islamakademin is a Sunni Islamic association in Malmö, founded in 2013 by Imam Salahuddin Barakat and partly funded by Malmö’s municipal tax. Among others, the council includes Valley Ghanem, who has also worked at Skåne County Council and the Swedish Migration Board.

Less than a week ago, she published an article entitled “Malmö’s culinary feasts and the temptations of eating during the Muslim fast”.

“From time to time I point out that Malmö is leading the way in terms of diversity and inclusion of its Muslim population, but sometimes I get speechless and realise that we still have a long way to go…” writes Ghanem.

“The fact that the city of Malmö is holding the International Food Festival in the middle of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadhan can only be described as obtuse,” she adds.

According to Ghanem, Muslims make up an estimated one-third of Malmö’s population, “but we are still non-existent in the city’s planning and thinking.” She is also convinced that Muslim organisations and Muslims in general are “discouraged from living in the central parts of the city”.

The city’s board of directors also have the wrong names, she believes.

That the lack of diversity and Muslim representation in Malmö’s governing bodies is an even bigger problem can be seen quite easily when we read the names on the Malmö City Board:
Eric, Erik, Nina, Anette, Ann and Thomas.
Embarrassing Malmö!

In March this year, Ghanem appeared in a report in Sydsvenskan . After that, it was the premises of the Islamic Academy that were to blame, or more precisely its location.

We fought to bring Islam to the centre of Malmö. There is no reason why our religion should only exist in the suburbs. The Muslims are here, but they are also in the city. Why do I have to go to Rosengård to pray or meet my congregation? The only reason is Islamophobia,” says Valley Ghanem, who is on the board of the Islamic Academy.
In October 2022, she appeared in a report in Expressen as a researcher and project manager for the anti-racist organisation Ammanah in Malmö. At the time, she thought that unreasonable demands were being made on Muslim women in Sweden – this in reference to the freedom struggle of Iranian women.

In October 2022, she appeared in a report in Expressen as a researcher and project leader of the anti-racist organisation Ammanah in Malmö. At the time, she believed that unreasonable demands were being made on Muslim women in Sweden – this in reference to the freedom struggle of Iranian women.

Veiled women also want to work, go out with friends and not be forced to be militant all the time. They don’t want to have to represent politics and governments and be responsible for what happens on the other side of the world, she says.

This discourse is led by people who simply do not care about Iranian women, but instead try to find reasons to criticise Islam and Muslims. But what happens politically in another country has nothing to do with how we practise our religion in Sweden today.

She then also said that “you cannot support this struggle without supporting its broad Islamophobic agenda, which basically has a Western definition of freedom”. Samnytt.Se
