In the latest censorious assault on English literature, PG Wodehouse’s celebrated comic ‘Jeeves and Wooster’ novels have reportedly been rewritten by publishers to remove “unacceptable” passages and prose.

Following the international row over the decision to issue censored copies of the children’s books of Roald Dahl to conform with modern woke sensibilities, it has emerged that the whimsical novels of English novelist PG Wodehouse have become the next target for failing to align with the politically correct code of current publishers.

According to a report from The Telegraph, several Wodehouse novels featuring the famed character ‘Jeeves’ — the “gentleman’s personal gentleman” charter which inspired the Ask Jeeves search engine website (now Ask.com) — have had their prose changed or outright removed for new editions set to be published by Penguin Random House.

A trigger warning at the beginning of the 2023 edition of Thank You, Jeeves states:  “Please be aware that this book was published in the 1930s and contains language, themes and characterisations which you may find outdated.

“In the present edition, we have sought to edit, minimally, words that we regard as unacceptable to present-day readers.”

The censors also targeted the 2022 edition of Right Ho, Jeeves, which is tagged with the same trigger warning. In addition, the comedic novel had a racial phrase to describe a “minstrel of the old school” purged from the book. According to the British broadsheet, racial terms have been removed from multiple Wodehouse novels.

Penguin went on to reportedly remove numerous racial references from Thank You, Jeeves, the first full-length novel in the Jeeves and Wooster series which centres around the performance of a minstrel troupe, which was common feature of England during the era in which the novel was set.

Wodehouse, born in 1881 in Surrey, England, wrote over 90 books during his lifetime and was hailed as Britain’s premier comedic writer. His works inspired many adaptations, including the heralded 1990s series Jeeves and Wooster starring Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie.

The works of Wodehouse, which often play with the language of pre-World War II Edwardian England in conjunction with slang from America, have been held up as some of the finest examples of comedic prose in the English language, with The Code of the Woosters writer often being compared to other literary giants such as Jane Austin and William Shakespeare.

A contemporary of Wodehouse’s, Brideshead Revisited author Evelyn Waugh remarked in 1961: “For Mr Wodehouse there has been no fall of Man; no ‘aboriginal calamity.’ His characters have never tasted the forbidden fruit. They are still in Eden. The gardens of Blandings Castle are that original garden from which we are all exiled. The chef Anatole prepares the ambrosia for the immortals of high Olympus. Mr Wodehouse’s world can never stale. He will continue to release future generations from captivity that may be more irksome than our own. He has made a world for us to live in and delight in.”

Douglas Adams, the author of The Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy series said of Wodehouse: “It matters not one whit that he writes endless variations on a theme of pig kidnappings, lofty butlers, and ludicrous impostures. He is the greatest musician of the English language, and exploring variations of familiar material is what musicians do all day.”

Days after Mamata Banerjee suggested Hindus not celebrate their festivals in so-called Muslim areas, a video of an incident has gone viral on social media in which a journalist is hackled by Muslims in a similar so-called Muslim area and is forced to stop the reporting. The incident took place in Ghaziabad’s Khoda colony where Keshav Malan, who works with ‘Khabar India’ had visited to get reactions of Muslim people on Asad Ahmed’s encounter and subsequent statements by politicians like Asaduddin Owaisi and Akhilesh Yadav.

On February 24, 2023, goons killed Umesh Pal. The faces of the shooters were revealed on the CCTV. Not only Umesh Pal but his two bodyguards were also killed. Umesh Pal was a witness in the murder of MLA Raju Pal in 2005. Prayagraj mafia Atiq Ahmed was associated with both incidents.

On 13th April 2023, the Special Task Force team of the Uttar Pradesh police killed Asad Ahmed in an encounter near Jhansi. Asad Ahmed was the son of the mafia Atiq Ahmed. Asad Ahmed was wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case and carried a reward of Rs. five lakhs on his head. His accomplice Mohammad Ghulam who was also a wanted criminal in this case was also killed in this encounter.

AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi condemned this and said that the incidents of encounters reduce people’s faith in the Constitution of the country. Journalist Keshav Malan, who works with ‘Khabar India’, faced a fierce mob of Muslims when he reached Ghaziabad’s Khoda Colony to get the reaction of Muslims to this statement of Asaduddin Owaisi on 14th April 2023. From “You take this camera to your house” to “How dare you speak up”, the journalist faced questions in the middle of a crowd of Muslims.

One Muslim in the mob even asked him, “How did you come here today?” suggesting that a journalist should avoid Fridays to go into Muslim areas for reporting. Another Muslim in the mob threatened the journalist and said, “You’re standing in front of my house, you get out of here.”

In the video, it can be seen that some Muslims gathered and started asking him to leave, shouting at him. In the street near Noorani Masjid, people talking to the journalist protested against Asad Ahmed’s encounter and supported Owaisi’s statement. The Muslim youths said the law should have punished Asad and not the police. One of them blamed Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government for the murder of Umesh Pal. Most Muslim youths were seen calling it a one-sided action and asking why the court judges are there.

One of the Muslims talked about ‘Hindu Rashtra’ and said that the culprits will be released here and innocents will be encountered. One Muslim even demanded the arrest of cow protector Monu Manesar and started referring to other incidents. Meanwhile, a Muslim man with a skull cap got angry and said that we have nothing to do with Assad or anyone. After this, he grabbed the journalist’s hand and started pushing him.

A young kid also told Keshav Malan ‘Quietly go away’, which can be seen in the video. Some Muslims were seen shaking the mic. One of them even said, ‘The biggest mafia is Yogi, he has 150 cases registered against him’. Most Muslims were seen avoiding speaking on this, saying that it was time for prayers. “You can’t stand within 100 metres of a mosque” – this statement of a fanatic Muslim youth in the video is becoming quite viral on social media.

The OpIndia team talked to Keshav Malan after this whole incident came to the surface. He said that he saw 3 big mosques in that area within 300 meters. He said that as Owaisi said on Asad Ahmed’s encounter that this was being done on the basis of religion, so he felt that it was necessary to take the reaction of Muslims on this. Keshav Malan said that it is important for Muslims to have a public opinion because it can also be a case that leaders like Owaisi are misleading. With this very thought, he reached the mosque.

He said that he sensed the difference in the situation as soon as he reached there. He did not anticipate it to be so hot of a discussion. He also confirmed the scuffle with him and cameraman Mohit Singh. He said that as they were carrying the camera, there was less misbehaviour, otherwise anything could have happened to them. Keshav Malan said that when he returned after the coverage, people from his channel also asked him to be careful, and that there is no need to take such a risk.

However, Keshav Malan believes that there is no such thing as a risk in this because there is fear while reporting many times in Delhi and in Rajasthan too, there is similar fear. However, with regard to Uttar Pradesh, he said that he is not afraid to go to Muslim-dominated areas for reporting. He credits Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government for this. Keshav Malan says that there is a rule of law under Yogi Adityanath and if anything happens, he is confident that justice will be done.

He said that even in Muslim-dominated areas in UP, he reports easily without fear. He said that the things that were said to him in Ghaziabad’s Khoda Colony were in a way a threat to him. Keshav Malan said that most of the Muslims he spoke to in that locality were saying that Asad Ahmed had been persecuted. They were also denying the fact that Asad was seen in the CCTV footage of Umesh Pal’s murder.

Mohit Singh was the cameraman during this entire episode. The OpIndia team also talked to him. He told that he was constantly being asked to turn off the camera, so he flipped the camera but did not turn it off. He informed us that he was also being hit. As soon as Atiq Ahmed’s name was mentioned, people were getting agitated. According to Mohit, there was a fear that how would he get out of there. He said that Muslims were fairly large in number.

It is clear from this episode that a direct message is being given to journalists that they should not report in these so-called ‘Muslim areas’. Will only the ‘Shariat’ law be applicable in the area around the mosque? Roads or other public properties belong to the government, and no one can claim them. Are there many small Pakistans already formed in the country? If so, it’s definitely a wake-up call. What will happen if Hindus start talking about the ‘Hindu areas’ like this?

Multiple protests took place as Germany’s green government shut down the country’s three remaining nuclear power plants forever.

Protests took place in Berlin and Munich on Saturday against the imminent shutdown of Germany’s final three nuclear power plants.

The three reactors are all that’s left of Germany’s fleet of atom-fueled power generators, with the country’s green-agenda-loving government set to see the plants cease operation forever shortly before midnight local time.

According to a report by Tagesschau, the three remaining reactors — Meiler Isar 2 in Bavaria, Emsland in Lower Saxony and Neckarwestheim 2 in Baden-Württemberg — have already been wound down by power companies over the last number of days, and will soon be ready to be disconnected from the country’s power grid.

They will then be completely shut down after the disconnection, likely never to be fired up again.

Such an end to nuclear in Germany is being celebrated by the country’s hardline political left, with the ruling Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) holding a “nuclear phase-out festival” in Munich to mark the day.

This pro-government demo did not go unopposed however, with pro-nuclear protests also being held in Munich, as well as under the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.

“Even if Germany shuts down its last nuclear power plants, ignoring science and the majority of voters: Our nuclear power plants can be reactivated and can continue to supply clean electricity for many decades,” pro-atomic power organisation Nuklearia reportedly said, backing the Saturday demonstrations.

Meanwhile, officials from within the country’s green agenda-loving government have insisted that the end of nuclear power will mark the beginning of an era of renewables in Germany.

Such a claim is hard to believe considering the country is already in the midst of a major energy crisis, with green technologies already failing to pick up the slack left by Russian oil and gas that has ceased to be regularly available since the invasion of Ukraine.

Most people in Germany do not think the shutdown is a good idea either, with nearly 60 per cent of the public thinking that getting rid of nuclear power right now is a mistake, compared to a mere 34 per cent who see it as a good thing.

Some groups have even warned that the shutdown will lead to energy shortages that further harm businesses in the country that have already seen their operating costs spiral alongside rising energy prices.

“Despite the drop in gas prices, energy costs remain high for most companies in Germany,” German Chamber of Industry and Commerce President Peter Adrian warned earlier in the week, emphasising that the country was not “out of the woods” in terms of securing its power supply.

Former populist presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has branded Emmanuel Macron as a “pyromaniac” who has set fire to French democracy after the globalist president signed his controversial pension reforms into law in the middle of the night.

Following a month of riots, protests, and labour union strikes across the nation, French President Emmanuel Macron signed into law his pension reforms — which would raise the retirement age from 62 to 64-years-old — after the Constitutional Council cleared the legislation on Friday.

In addition to angering the public on the merits of the legislation, which has been seen as an attack on the working class by the elitist Macron government during a time of economic crisis, the method in which it was implemented further enraged the public, given that it was pushed through the parliament after Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne invoked a constitutional loophole to pass the bill without a vote last month.

In response to the decision by Macron to sign the contentious bill into law during the middle of the night, the leader of the National Rally (RN) in the National Assembly, Marine Le Pen chastised her former rival for attacking French democracy.

“By choosing to enact the unjust pension law at 3:28 am, Emmanuel Macron is committing yet another provocation against the French,” the populist wrote on social media.

“A President of the Republic must bring the French together, but Emmanuel Macron is a pyromaniac who will, alas, have damaged our democracy.”

The widespread resentment against Macron, who has been branded as the “president of the rich” over his globalist style of governance, has seen Le Pen and her National Rally party surge in the polls, with a poll earlier this month finding that in a head to head presidential matchup, she would best Macron by a walloping 10 points, after previously losing to the World Economic Forum darling in last year’s elections.

Meanwhile, trust in Macron has fallen to its lowest level since the 2018 Yellow Vest protests against his plans to impose climate taxes on the public. Aside from the controversial pension reform, the French public has been suffering under economic hardship for years following the Chinese coronavirus crisis and the ensuing draconian lockdowns of Macron’s government.

As a result of the fallout from the Wuhan virus in conjunction with the war in Ukraine, France has seen food inflation soar by 15 per cent over the past year, leading to one in four of the nation’s poorest people beginning to skip meals to make ends meet.

In addition to Le Pen, François Ruffin, a leading member of the leftist La France Insoumise group in the National Assembly, also took aim at Macron for signing the legislation into law overnight.

“Like thieves, Emmanuel Macron and his gang promulgated their pension law in the middle of the night. Because they know it well: what they have just done is a democratic hold-up,” Ruffin wrote.

The trade unions, which have been a leading force in staging the nationwide protests, have also vowed to continue their actions despite the reforms being signed into law, with the CGT trade confederation saying in a statement: “The nocturnal promulgation of the law does not change our fight at all. We will not move on until this law is abandoned.”
