India: Parents of Muslim students protest over non-halal chicken served in mid-day meal, demand resignation of principal

Image via Arambagh TV

On Saturday, January 7, family members of Muslim students of a school in the east Medinipur district of West Bengal staged a protest against an alleged attempt to ‘desecrate’ their faith by feeding ‘Jhatka’ chicken to Muslim students. The reported incident took place in Mahisadal Raj High School in east Medinipur. The parents of Muslim students demanded the resignation of the school principal for serving non-halal meat to Muslim students.

The Muslim parents also claimed that the chicken slaughtered using the jhatka method are dead chickens, and as they are not slaughtered as per halal norms, it hurts the sentiments of the Muslims.

In a video of the incident doing rounds on social media, family members of Muslim students are seen arguing with the school authorities. Furthermore, they raised slogans against the alleged conspiracy against Islam and even dragged Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) into the matter. They claimed that serving Jhatka chicken in mid-day meals to Muslim students is part of the “RSS agenda to hurt their religious sentiments.”

It is pertinent to mention that this school in Mahisadal block is Bengali medium school and is run by the state government’s Education Department and is not a Madrasa or Islamic educational institution.

Notably, ahead of the Panchayat elections which are likely to be held in March, the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal has recently introduced a revised mid-day meal menu for the government-run schools.

The scheme is planned for a duration of four months, starting from January till April this year. The revised mid-day meal menu includes additional nutrition in the form of eggs, chicken and seasonal fruits, which will be served weekly.

On January 3, the West Bengal School Education Department issued a notification stating that an additional Rs 372 crore will be allocated to provide eggs, chicken or fruits other than the usual menu which includes rice, potatoes, pulses, vegetables, soybean, and eggs.

“Additional nutrition will include Egg / Chicken/ Seasonal fruits which may please be added with normal PM- POSHAN on weekly basis for 4 (four) months from January ’23 to April ‘23,” said the order. It is notable that the notification only mentions chicken, and does not mention the slaughter method.

The cost for additional nutrition for students enrolled in the mid-day meal scheme now known as PM POSHAN (Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman), as mentioned in the notification is Rs 20 a week for 16 weeks. It is notable that the notification nowhere mentions whether the chicken served will be halal which is permitted in Islam or Jhatka which is prohibited or Haraam in Islam.

Algerian Illegal Tries to Strangle His Baby Son After Being Refused Residency

An Algerian illegal migrant tried to strangle his four-month-old child to death after he was refused residency in France, putting a rope around the child’s neck in front of the child’s mother.

Thirty-four-year-old Mohammed F. was arrested in the commune of Cenon, a suburb of the city of Bordeaux, at the town hall after appearing while his former partner was having her identity papers renewed.

A police source claimed that the Algerian put a rope around the neck of the four-month-old baby, his son, who was with the man’s partner at the time.

He then pulled the baby by the foot violently and was restrained by staff at the town hall before he could tighten the rope he had put around the infant’s neck, the newspaper Le Figaro reports.

The illegal migrant is said to have been in a relationship with the mother of the child but she had left him around a month before the child was born.

Police say the North African wanted to kill his child and then himself because he was angry about not being granted residency and benefitting from possible residency linked to the birth of his child.

The incident comes just months after another Algerian migrant was arrested for the rape and murder of another child, a 12-year-old named Lola.

As with Mohammed F., this Algerian was also an illegal immigrant and even subject to a deportation order, meaning they should not have been in France at the time of the murder.

The case sparked a national discussion on deportation orders and how the French government under President Emmanuel Macron has followed through with deporting only a very small number of those handed deportation orders.

According to one French media source, the government had deported less than ten per cent of illegals with deportation orders during the pandemic years, and even prior to the pandemic just 12 per cent of ordered deportations were actually carried out.

Islamist extremism and its progressive sister – two sides of the same coin – Norway seems to be going down the road to the totalitarian control of non-progressive ideas

Tonya Gjevjon, photo: Subjekt.no

When Islamist extremism and its progressive sister appear to be on different sides of the same coin.

And how does it relate to us?

We have become accustomed to hearing about phenomena of extreme persecution under the auspices of the rule of law, mainly from the countries of the Middle East. Afghanistan, which forbids women to walk alone in the street, Iran, where there is a “morality police” that beats women for not wearing the hijab properly, sometimes to the point of death. Then there is Saudi Arabia where women are required to show permission from their husbands to get married, work, or open a bank account, and so on.

But one of the stranger occurrences that took place this past week in the world and did not receive any attention in Israel, is the Norwegian storm surrounding the local filmmaker Tonya Gjevjon. Gjevjon is an avowed lesbian, and has an open criminal investigation against her for spreading serious hate speech. This is an act for which the maximum penalty in Norway is three years in prison. The “serious incitement” spread by the filmmaker, however, is a post she published on Facebook in which she dared to write that “it is impossible for a man to become a lesbian in the same way that it is impossible for a man to get pregnant. Men are men regardless of their sexual fetishes.”

On the face of it, the explanation for the opening of the criminal investigation against the creator stems from an amendment to the country’s penal code in 2020, which stated that “gender identity and gender expression” are protected categories against hate speech. Which on the face of it sounds reasonable, if the opening of a police investigation is not added to it for expressing an opinion that does not contain any call for violence.

Norway is indeed considered one of the most progressive countries in Europe, but between that and the establishment of a Gestapo that persecutes and silences those who express an opinion, there should be a clear line..

The question arises – does all this even concern us, the citizens of Israel who are protected from the storm of progressive insanity? So, the answer is – unequivocally, yes.

In the last decade, Norway transferred close to NIS 80 million to Israeli organizations, all of them on the spectrum between the left and the extreme anti-Zionist left. 50 million shekels were transferred directly through official government entities and an additional 30 million shekels through the “Norwegian Refugee Council” which, although it is also a Norwegian political entity, is simultaneously budgeted by the European Union and the United Kingdom.

Among the Israeli organizations that are funded by the liberal dictatorship, one can find the anti-Zionist organization B’Tselem, the Center for the Protection of the Individual and the Civil Rights Association that defend terrorists and their families in courts, the Yesh Din organization that works to prosecute Israel at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the delegitimization organization Breaking the Silence and more.

There is no doubt that the State of Israel must develop clear legislation to stop the funds going to local organizations from enemy countries and those with which Israel has no official relations. Certainly, it must stop funds from countries where the human rights situation is terrible and there is no reason for them to promote their extreme agendas within us.

But there is another developing category.

When we look at the gradual radicalization currently taking place in Norway, the gradual establishment of a progressive dictatorship that persecutes those with a different opinion, it would be worthwhile at some stage to consider how to seal the loopholes directed in our direction as well.

The introduction of the euro causes prices to skyrocket in Croatia

Ivan Sinčić and party members at a rally in Zagreb. Facebook

The Croatians are experiencing quite a nasty surprise: After joining the EU at the beginning of the year, the country has now also introduced the euro – as a result, prices are going up steeply. Many Croatians are venting their anger on social media.

The Croatians are already struggling with inflation and rising energy prices. Since the New Year, the prices for groceries, service providers, coffee and other goods have also skyrocketed.

Many Croatians complain about this online, as Croatian outlets reported. Croatian Economics Minister Davor Filipovic reacted promptly and promised government measures. Until January 14, one can still pay with kuna in Croatia, after that the euro will be the national currency.

KLJUČ Hrvatske, the recently founded party of the former bricklayer and MEP Ivan Sinčić, commented on the introduction of the euro on Facebook. Sinčić has long been against the introduction of the euro, and his party supports this position.

“Information has appeared in the media that Croats want and expect Croatian paper euro banknotes. Not only are there no Croatian euro banknotes, which is a minor problem, but we are not aware that we have given up our currency without any resistance and that we are handing over our monetary sovereignty to someone else.

“So, apart from these rampant price increases on the market […] now that the euro has been introduced, we believe that citizens will have an even bigger shock when they receive their salary in a few hundred euros instead of a few thousand HRK in a few days.”

India: Are ‘halal’ hotels slow poisoning non-Muslims in Kerala?

A young lady undergoing treatment for food poisoning at Kottayam Medical College diedaround 7 pm on 2 January. Rasmi Rajan (33), a native of Kottayam Kiliroor, was a nursing officer at Kottayam Medical College Hospital.

It was on 29 December that Rasmi reportedly consumed Alfahm bought from Malappuram Kuzhimandi restaurant. Alfahm is Arabic grilled chicken, and Malappuram restaurant is at Samkranti Junction, right in the middle of Kottayam town. At least 29 people, including Rasmi, who ate food here, sought treatment for food poisoning.

Rasmi ordered the food and the delivery boy brought it to the Medical College Nursing Hostel. Her brother Vishnuraj was among the 26 others who ate from this hotel and got food poisoning. Rasmi had vomiting and diarrhoea after consuming the food. She was then admitted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital by her colleagues.

Suspiciously, even before nursing officer Rasmi died of food poisoning, the media claimed that she had severe health problems. The whitewashing of the halal hotel’s crimes had just begun.

Resmi’s condition worsened, and the infection affected her kidneys and liver. She was put on a ventilator and underwent dialysis but to no avail. She died at seven o’clock on Monday night. Kottayam municipal authorities suspended the license of the hotel and closed the shop.

Following the incident, Gandhinagar police registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation. Medical college authorities claimed that the cause of death would be revealed only after a detailed post-mortem examination.

As per the preliminary investigation of the health department, the woman suffered food poisoning from the mayonnaise served with Alfahm. Allegedly this was done to deflect public attention from the widespread use of ‘Tsunami Chicken’ by halal restaurants in Kerala.

Tsunami Chicken is dead maggot-infested meat being rampantly brought in from places like Dindigul. It costs half the price of fresh meat, and hotels use it for preparing everything from cutlets to Alfahm. They then mercilessly sell such food to women and even children.

Suspiciously, most victims of food poisoning from hotel food are non-Muslims. There are allegations that halal eateries serve different meat for Muslims.

Trucks and trains transport the meat in unhygienic conditions using thermocol boxes filled with ice. What remains of the ice after a ten to 12-hour journey is anybody’s guess. Allegedly, the Halal mafia has representatives in vital official positions who know exactly who and when to grease palms. When cornered, they also resort to violent tactics.

DYFI activists (militant youth wing of the CPM) marched to the hotel and vandalized the hotel. These goons destroyed a few potted plants and the hotel’s signboard. They took special care to dismantle the CCTV cameras, eliminating crucial evidence. Local police remained mute spectators. Active participation in DYFI violence is a mandatory prelude to top political positions in Kerala.

As a face-saving measure, Kottayam Municipal Chairperson Bincy Sebastian suspendedHealth Supervisor M R Sanu pending investigation. Sebastian cited a severe lapse on Sanu’s part in inspecting the quality of food served in the hotel.

Malappuram Kuzhimandi restaurant is infamous for poisoning citizens. Corrupt politicians/officials allowed them to continue even after several such cases were reported against this particular eatery.

The municipal health department inspected the hotel on 15 November following the outbreak of food poisoning. In addition to the small kitchen in the hotel, it was found that the central kitchen was functioning at Gandhinagar Medical College Road. The officials clarified that this could not be allowed and issued a notice to the hotel asking them to unite the kitchen within ten days.

Along with this, other deficiencies found were suggested to be rectified. On the fifth day after the hotel was closed, the municipal council permitted the hotel to clean and open it. Still, on the second inspection, it was found that the hotel’s kitchen was operating without a license. The municipal chairperson claimed that Sanu threatened to commit suicide in front of her when she asked for an explanation for opening the hotel.

A month ago, people who ate at this hotel had food poisoning. On that day, the municipality issued a notice to the hotel. But later, the hotel continued to operate again. It is now clear that the role of municipal officials is behind this. Sebastian alleged that she instructed Sanu to take necessary action, but he conspired with the hotel management and allowed it to function.

Meanwhile, Left-wing organizations under the aegis of Kerala Municipal and Corporation Staff Union (KMCSU) staged a protest in front of the municipality, alleging that Sanu’s suspension was politically motivated. The protesters accused the Congress-led municipal council of turning a blind eye to the eateries that function without meeting the basic hygiene norms. Sanu was a comrade who conspired to allow the eatery to function.

After Reshmi’s death, Gandhinagar police station received several complaints against the halal hotel. Currently, the police have received six complaints in writing regarding food poisoning. Social media, too, is awash with the atrocities committed by Malappuram Kuzhimandi restaurant.

Gandhinagar police received several complaints by phone. The police said that the residents of Kozhikode, living in Bengaluru, who had suffered physical problems after eating from the hotel during a journey, had complained about the eatery over the phone.

This time around, 29 people sought treatment for food poisoning, including private hospitals. But Kottayam police registered just one case against the hotel in the incident. Locals say that earlier it was the Congress councillor of the area who intervened and gave permission to reopen the hotel, which had been closed six months ago following a food poisoning outbreak.

Rather shamelessly, local Congress MLA Thiruvanjoor Radhakrishnan demanded that the state pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the deceased Rasmi. He added that not even one person could be arrested in connection with the death and that the culprits should be identified and action taken. It is alleged that in that case, Radhakrishnan, too, should be arrested.

He also opined that the food security department of the state is a complete failure. Incidentally, Veena George, Kerala Minister for Health, represents the Aranmula constituency of Pathanamthitta district, just 40 km from where Resmi died.

Radhakrishnan said that the health minister should clarify the number of accredited microbiology labs in Kerala. The former minister also alleged that the government did not respond to Rasmi’s death. The crores annually allocated by the central government for the state food security department have not been utilized in the last three years.

According to Randeep C R, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Department, an investigation is progressing in connection with the incident, and further action will be taken against the restaurant based on its outcome. Such statements did nothing to build public confidence.

“We have already initiated a case under Section 174 of the CrPC (when there is doubt regarding the cause of death). We will initiate further charges based on the autopsy report,” said K Karthik, district police chief. With such minor charges of severe crimes, the outcome is anybody’s guess.

Meanwhile, Rasmi’s body was taken to her residence on Tuesday at noon, and her last rites were performed in the evening. The deceased is the wife of Vinod Kumar of Thiruvananthapuram. They got married just four months back. Her relatives cried inconsolably when the body of the young victim reached home.

In a knee-jerk reaction a day after the death of a young nurse in Kottayam due to suspected food poisoning, the food safety department raided over 429 eateries across the state on Tuesday. Forty-three were asked to down shutters. Twenty-two were operating in unhygienic conditions, and 21 had no food license.

The officials served notices on 138 shops for not maintaining basic standards. Samples from 44 shops were collected for further testing. These figures showed that half of all eateries in Kerala sell filthy food unfit for human consumption. To gauge the depth of the issue, there are an estimated one lakh halal eateries in Kerala.

Last heard, Rasmi’s brother Vishnu Raj alleged that the police did not record her death due to food poisoning in the FIR. It is mentioned as due to physical illness. Kerala police claimed that Rasmi’s internal organs should be analyzed to confirm that she suffered from food poisoning. This led to allegations that the authorities were trying to protect someone.

Even though the police, the health department, municipal authorities, and politicians have cried foul, nobody reported the hotel owner’s name. He or she is yet to be identified and arrested. A heady mix of political Islam, halal economics and local politicians are slowly but surely poisoning non-Muslims.

Banned terrorist organizations like the Popular Front of India have used halal hotels to further their cause. Rather than the money, it is believed that the common man’s fear of arms or necks getting chopped encourages such shady characters. Incidentally, Newman college, where radical Islamists chopped off Professor Joseph’s arms, is just 50 km from Kottayam. Until and unless halal is banned, the food poisoning menace will continue.
