The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has been accused of giving terrorists a platform following the release of a new 10-part podcast with former British national Shamima Begum.

Begum fled the U.K. in 2015 with two other schoolgirls to join the Islamic State death cult in Syria and, following its demise, sought to return to Britain to face terror charges. Her citizenship was revoked by then-Home Secretary Sajid Javid, a decision that was upheld on appeal to Britain’s top court in February 2021.

A key factor in the decision to strip Begum of her British citizenship was the fact that she held dual citizenship with Bangladesh, meaning she would not be made stateless by the action taken by the U.K. Home Office.

The decision sparked outrage among the British left, who argued Begum, to quote Labour’s former shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott, was a “desperate groomed teenager” and there were “plenty of good reasons” to allow her to “return home.”

At the time of the revocation of Begum’s citizenship, Sajid Javid told the House of Commons the decision was “morally right, absolutely right, but also legally correct and the right one to protect the British people.

“I won’t go into details of the case, but what I will say is that you certainly haven’t seen what I saw,” he told lawmakers, adding: “If you did know what I knew, because you are sensible, responsible people, you would have made exactly the same decision – of that I have no doubt.”

The vast majority of the British public have remained opposed to allowing Begum to return to Britain, with a YouGov poll conducted in November 2020 showing 70 percent of Brits were against her homecoming.

Since fleeing ISIS, Begum has resided at the al-Roj camp in northern Syria, run by the Syrian Democratic Forces. She has frequently been approached for interviews by major Western broadcasters where she has been able to tell her side of the story as to why she should not be deemed dangerous in the eyes of concerned Brits.

When asked in an interview with Sky News in 2019 if she was aware of beheadings conducted by IS, Begum replied: “Yeah, I knew about those things, and I was okay with it… From what I heard, Islamically that is allowed. So I was okay with it.”

The BBC is now promoting a 10-part podcast with the former ISIS bride, who married Dutch convert Yago Riedijk in an Islamic ceremony in Syria back in 2015. However, the broadcaster has come under fire from many on social media who accuse it of giving a platform to a known terrorist.

Wasiq Wasiq, a fellow at the Henry Jackson Society, tweeted: “While the victims of grooming gangs are still trying to be heard and get justice, Shamima Begum manages to land 10-part podcast on the BBC.

“Will the BBC dedicate this much time to them?” he asked.

The conservative Taxpayers’ Alliance campaign tweeted: “License fee cash should not be supporting this disgraceful PR exercise to spin the sob story of an Isis bride!”

“The BBC has used license fee payers’ money on giving terrorist Shamima Begum a podcast in which she says ‘I’m so much more than ISIS,’” commented the Defund the BBC campaign, which called on Brits to “switch to on-demand and stop paying this anti-British corporation.”

Terrorism and national security expert Kyle Orton slammed the BBC for the podcast with an “IS jihadist who celebrated the ‘caliphate’ and when she was found then switched her story to one of victimhood.”

“Enabling these people to become celebrities after what they have done is shameful,” he added.

Defending the series, the British public broadcaster claimed the podcast would provide a “full account” of “what really happened” during Begum’s escapades, insisting her account would not be “unchallenged” and calling the podcast a “robust, public interest investigation.”

The teenager, who was thrown onto the railway tracks by a violent perpetrator at Altena station on Sunday afternoon ( January 8), was apparently a random victim of the perpetrator. This is the assumption of the district police of the Märkische district, who are investigating the background to this horrific deed.

As reported yesterday, the 16-year-old girl from Nachrodt had got off the regional express train to Dortmund at Altena station at around 5.15 p.m. and had made her way across the platform.

Suddenly a young man ran after her, grabbed her from behind and threw her over the edge of the platform right into the track in front of the stunned passengers. Then he jumped after her himself and held the young girl pressed down on the tracks.

Determined witnesses immediately rushed to the 16-year-old’s aid, freed her and shortly afterwards locked the perpetrator – who got back on the waiting train with his suitcase – in the train together with railway employees. The police then arrested him. The teenager who was attacked suffered injuries, which were treated on the spot by the ambulance service.

The police spokesman reported that the attacker, who had been temporarily arrested, was 27 years old and a resident of Nuremberg. He was under the influence of drugs (amphetamines) when he attacked the young girl. Earlier in the train, he had already insulted and abused other passengers.

At the instigation of the Altena public order office and after an examination by a doctor, the 27-year-old was admitted to a psychiatric clinic. According to the psychiatric hospital, he can release himself from the hospital. An application for pre-trial detention has not yet been filed.

When asked by our editorial office, police spokesman Marcel Dilling informed us that the suspect is a Syrian national. “As usual, we do not provide any information on prior police knowledge for reasons of data protection,” Dilling reminds us of a specific language regulation of the district police authority of the Märkische district.

The 16-year-old from Nachrodt “got into the situation by chance”, Dilling makes clear: “They don’t know each other.”

As the trial begins over the hit-and-run killing of 23-year-old French woman Axelle Dorier, the parents of the young woman are speaking out against the two men on trial, saying they represent “a minority of the population” destroying the French nation.

The killing of Axelle occurred in July 2020, and although arrested shortly after the incident, Youcef Tebal and Mohamed Yelloule are only now going to trial two years later. As Remix News reported at the time, the gruesome nature of Axelle’s last moments, who was training to become a nurse, not only sparked national headlines, but also led to widespread protests and social media campaigns.

The parents of Axelle, Pierre and Sophie, are now speaking to the press about what they say is the injustice their family has experienced.

“When we see Axelle or Marin Sauvajon, we say to ourselves that a minority of the population is destroying our nation and behaving like savages who are allowed to do everything: to kill and to rape… There is incomprehension and anger. It’s unbearable,” said Sophie. 

‘We do not understand why they are not tried for murder’

The two men are set to stand trial at the Rhône Assize Court from Jan. 17 to Jan. 20, with Tabal, the driver, being prosecuted for “willful violence resulting in death without intent” and “hit and run.” The other suspect, the passenger, will be tried for “failure to assist a person in danger.” In pre-trial detention since his arrest, the driver, who has no criminal record, faces 20 years in prison.

Sophie and Pierre said that given the facts of the case, the two men should be tried for murder, telling Le Figaro, “We do not understand why they are not tried for murder.”

“They knew very well that Axelle was in front of the car. They ran her over with full knowledge,” said the family.

They also point out that the two men fled the scene of the crime, only turning themselves in three hours later.

“As soon as they learned that the police had been notified, they wanted to leave the scene of the crime at all costs. They didn’t want to be checked. What they did is monstrous. They are barbarians, Axelle’s life was of no importance to them,” said Pierre. “We expect justice to be extremely firm for the driver but also for the passenger, who for us is just as responsible. They had no right to kill,” he added.

Many critics of the case also question why at least the driver was not charged with murder. The incident began when Axelle was on her way to a birthday party with her twin brothers and another friend. Youcef Tabal, who had just attended a party in the evening, became involved in an altercation with Axelle’s group of friends, who accused him of running over their dog.

Police received a call about the first altercation, and then there was a second call about “a motorist driving a Golf who knowingly ran over a young woman and dragged her for several meters,” according to La Depeche. Prosecutors say Tabal sped away from the scene, only to strike Axelle with his vehicle.

Axelle had her arm ripped off as Tabal dragged her for 800 meters. Tabal was also driving with a suspended license.

A number of different witness accounts also describe how Axelle was struck by Tabal’s vehicle but actually managed to get up, at which point the “driver then purposefully began accelerating” while dragging her behind.

Her brother, Evan, was one of the first people to find Axelle’s mangled body.

“I saw a large (trail of blood) on the ground. I started to grasp what had happened, but I refused to believe it. The further I went, the more blood there was,” he said.

Evan walked 803 meters, following the trail, until he found his sister’s body at the Gallo-Roman Museum of Fourvière.

“We are in a society where horror is being pushed to its climax. It is time for those who are well-meaning to open their eyes: French society has become savage and barbaric,” continued Gabriel Versini-Bullara, the lawyer for the Dorier family. He described the family as “psychologically broken.”

In the same month of Axelle’s death, several atrocious killings sent shockwaves through France. Just a week before, 58-year-old bus driver Philippe Monguillot was beaten to death by four migrant men, one of whom was from Africa and arrested in the apartment of Mohammed A, an individual already known to the police. The incident prompted his wife Veronique to tell French newspaper Le Parisien, “We were destroyed in a few seconds, I feel like I am living in a nightmare. A nightmare that is getting worse by the day.”

Monguillot was killed for trying to enforce a mandatory mask rule on the bus and for demanding the men purchase tickets when they tried to force their way onboard.

In addition, on July 6, 26-year-old French gendarme Mélanie Lemée was killed by an African male who ran her over as he tried to escape a police checkpoint. During the police chase that ensued, he fatally struck the female officer with his vehicle, tearing her leg off. Not only was he on narcotics, but his license had been suspended since 2019.

While politicians from many EU countries are in favor of even more arms deliveries to Ukraine, Hungary and Serbia are now pleading for a quick end to the war. In his statement on the matter, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó also delivered a dig at the United States.

Hungary and Serbia want peace in Ukraine as soon as possible. Above all, they are against the negative effects of the EU’s anti-Russian sanctions on their economies. That is the conclusion of recent talks between Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó and his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic. Szijjártó pointed out how the two countries were experiencing the terrible consequences of the war – economically as well as in terms of safety due to their proximity to Ukraine.

Other countries, thousands of kilometers away from the conflict zone, do not have to face the same impact, he argued.

“It may not look so serious to them, but those who promote an escalation or prolong the war are acting against our national interests,” said the Orban minister, alluding to the US and its ongoing massive support for Ukraine. “Neither the Hungarians nor the Serbs are responsible for this war, but both peoples are paying for it. That is why we are interested in ending the armed conflict as soon as possible,” Szijjártó stressed.

Last month, the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had warned that the Ukraine crisis would continue as long as the US supported the Kiev regime with money and weapons.

There was a real danger that the Ukraine conflict could drag on for decades and Washington is responsible for the escalation, he said. “Ukraine can only fight as long as the USA supports it with money and weapons. If the Americans want peace, there will be peace,” Orban told the newspaper Magyar Nemzet.

“It is not in our interest to cut off all our economic relations with Russia. We look at these issues through the Hungarian prism and not through that of other countries,” he noted.

Zero Hedge reports that the Swiss National Bank (SNB) lost a huge amount in the value of its assets last year. Like other governments which manipulate exchange rates, it has been buying foreign assets for years in order to keep the exchange rate of its currency low so that its manufacturers that produce exports or compete with imports could make more money. In the meantime, the manufacturers in the countries whose currencies they buy make less money and often go broke.

The problem is that the foreign assets that the SNB has been purchasing lost value last year due to simultaneous crashes in the prices of stocks and bonds which occurred in the United States and other countries. Here’s an excerpt from their story about it:

On Monday, the SNB reported an annual loss of 132 billion Swiss francs, or $143 billion, for fiscal 2022, the biggest loss in its 115-year history as falling stock and fixed-income markets hit the value of its share and bond portfolio. The recent drop in the US Dollar also did not help….

According to the bank, the bulk of the loss, or 131 billion francs, was from its foreign currency positions — a broad term used to describe the more than 800 billion francs in stocks and bonds the SNB bought during a long campaign to weaken the Swiss franc. Indicatively, the amount is also almost precisely the same as the GDP of Switzerland…

And while the SNB lost money in pretty much everything there was one solitary asset class that generated a profit (take a wild guess which one): that’s right, the SNB’s gold holdings which stood at 1,040 tonnes at the end of 2021, gained 400 million francs in value during 2022.

Central banks have been buying foreign assets (mainly U.S. stocks and bonds) to drive down their exchange rates and drive up the exchange rates of their trading partners. Buying dollars and using those dollars to buy U.S. stocks and bonds bid up the price of the dollar while bidding down the price of their own currency.

Like a thoughtless teen splurging on credit, the U.S. economy has responded to the easy money and the profligacy of its political leadership by going ever deeper in debt: currently the U.S. net international investment position stands at -$16.7 trillion dollars.  Paying that debt will serve as a long-term drag on the welfare of U.S. consumers. As recently as 2007, the net investment position was less than -$1.3 trillion. Not to worry though, as a percentage of GDP, we’re still less deeply in debt than a number of global economies including such leading lights as Greece, Portugal, Panama, Nicaragua, Cyprus, and Cambodia. 

The mention of gold in the article reminds the reader that central banks in mercantilist countries used to accumulate foreign gold instead of foreign stocks and bonds in order to grow their own economies and shrink those of their adversaries. They still have large holdings of gold, but have preferred buying foreign stocks and bonds in recent years because stocks and bonds pay interest and dividends while gold does not. But last year, the central banks of the mercantilist countries probably wished that they had stayed with gold.

On Thursday, 12th January 2023, a shocking revelation surfaced from Daund in Maharashtra that more than 200 Hindus are converted every year in the town. Hindu households in Daund said that they are forced to live in insecurity and that Muslim youths are paid Rs 5 lakhs to convert Hindu girls. The Hindu husbands of Muslim women are also forcibly circumcised by local Mulisms.

According to a report by Times Now, the political leadership, including MPs, supports the forced conversion bids, while the police give little assistance. Hindu men are allegedly lured into honey traps in order to convert them. In the region, over 100 men are forced to get circumcised every year.

A Hindu victim girl said, “My mindset was that he is a Hindu boy and therefore my family will accept him and there won’t be any problem. But when the court documents appeared in front of me, at that time, I came to know that the boy was a Muslim. I was shocked and asked him how did he dare to do this fraud with me. But he was accompanied by his friends whom I don’t know. I am a self-reliant girl. He said that he will take care of my family too. Then he told me the whole planning.”

A local resident told, “In a year, around 100 to 200 people are converted here. Among them, most are girls. They are only 17 or 18 years old when it happens. A few of them will be in college when these people brainwash them. They talk about marriage, and after these girls give birth to their children, they are divorced and abandoned. Then they get ready to marry again.”

He added, “Hindus are scared to react as the people behind the forced conversions beat up and threaten girls. They eve-tease these young girls in public but no one can even file a complaint against them. All politicians here support these men, which is why no one is ready to raise their voice. People are scared to even talk about the matter.”

He further said, “If a Hindu girl marries a Muslim guy, the Muslim youth gets around Rs 5 lakhs from the community. There are a few people behind these activities. They are Farooq Qureshi, Kumel Qureshi, Ashib Qureshi, and Farhaan Qureshi. Nobody talks against them, nor takes their names.”

Another Daund resident came ahead and said that after his marriage to a Muslim woman, he was forcefully converted to Islam and circumcized whereas the couple wished to live as an inter-faith couple. He said, “They pinned me down and started video-recording using a mobile phone. One Asif Sheikh held my arms and Kamel Qureshi grabbed my legs. Then, they asked a doctor to start the process. Later, they left me on the floor bleeding.” In addition, his wife said Kamel Qureshi had threatened to murder him if he didn’t convert.

It is notable that Kamel Qureshi alias Haji Saheb is currently under arrest. He is considered to be the mastermind of these forceful conversions taking place in Daund of Maharashtra. His arrest came in one such case of forced conversion and circumcision.

On October 14, Asif Sheikh and Kamel Kureshi got a Muslim doctor with them and forcefully entered the victim’s house in the Kumbhargalli area of Daund. The victim’s wife and his daughters were thrown out of the house before they forcefully circumcised the victim and converted him to Islam.

Ireland must prepare to grant asylum to migrants supposedly fleeing climate change, a government minister from the Green Party has declared.

Roderic O’Gorman, Ireland’s controversial Minister for Children, has declared that his country must make preparations to allow in a large number of migrants supposedly fleeing from the effects of climate change.

While Ireland has already been pursuing a relatively open borders approach when it comes to the issue of Europe’s ongoing migrant crisis, the suggestion that it starts allowing climate migrants to stay in the country has shocked even some of the Irish government’s own ministers.

Speaking to the Irish Examiner, O’Gorman emphasised that he believed that both Ireland and Europe at large will see a significant rise in the number of asylum seekers over the coming years, declaring that the country must now start making preparations to allow in climate migrants.

“I think all of Europe is going to have to expect more migration, more inward migration,” he told the paper. “Parts of Europe have experienced very significant amounts in the last decade. By and large Ireland has been receiving relatively small amounts and I think it’s likely that that’s going to change.”

He went on to say that he “would like to see” climate migrants become a self-defined category within the asylum process, but that such arrangements would need to be made at an international level.

“That’s something international law is going to have to grapple with because they are not economic migrants in the in the traditional sense — some of them are fleeing a place that no longer exists, or at least may no longer be habitable for humans,” he went on to suggest.

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine early last year, Ireland’s progressive government has taken a radically open borders approach to migrants and refugees, allowing in a total of around 70,000 into a country of just five million people.

However, suggestions that the country should begin taking in climate refugees on top of this influx have shocked even some of those within Ireland’s pro-open borders government, with many outside the Irish Green Party saying that the country simply does not have the capability to deal with the additional influx.

“It is making policy on the hoof, and introducing an entire new category of person entitled to international protection,” one government MP, Charlie Flanagan, remarked, adding that the suggestion was far outside the coalition agreement for government.

“It comes at a time during which we are struggling to cope with the numbers of people coming into the country, either as refugees from Ukraine or seeking international protection,” he went on to say.

Flanagan’s sentiment that Ireland is now beginning to struggle under its own open borders commitments has been echoed by the country’s Prime Minister, Leo Varadkar, who has now publicly warned that the island nation is running out of places to put the large number of new arrivals.

According to the Irish Times, Varadkar has noted that the country’s ability to look after migrants is now wearing thin, and that Ireland was simply “not in a position to guarantee accommodation to everyone who arrives in the country – that’s just the reality of the situation”.

“We will do the best that we can for people – provide them with shelter as best we can, provide children with education,” the Prime Minister said.

“But what I can’t do here is guarantee that we will be able to find accommodation for everyone who might arrive in the country, whether it’s from Ukraine or elsewhere.”

German riot police moved in this week to clear the hundreds of climate activists currently occupying the western German village of Lützerath in protest against the decision to mine much-need coal there.

More than 700 activists are now situated in the abandoned village in North Rhine Westphalia, whose residents have been relocated to make way for energy company RWE to mine the site for lignite.

The anti-coal brigade began occupying the village more than two years ago, with the number of protesters growing steadily in recent weeks. Activists are squatting in the empty houses, preparing barricades, and forming human chains as they prepare for authorities to follow through on an eviction order issued by a local court, which came into force on Tuesday.

More than 200 German celebrities pledged their support to the far-left activists in an open letter published by German newspaper Der Spiegel, and prominent Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg is expected to visit the site on Saturday, having already done so once in September 2021.

In footage circulating on social media, riot police could be seen facing off with masked protesters on Tuesday ahead of taking action to clear the site.

As riot police moved in to secure the area, they were met with a barrage of projectiles, including stones and Molotov cocktails, as scenes turned ugly.

Despite the initial opposition, a police spokesperson on Wednesday insisted the authorities are “very satisfied” with the clearance operation they say is now firmly underway.

“So far everything is going according to plan for the police. After a certainly mixed start this morning, where we also saw some stones thrown and Molotov cocktails thrown, I would say the situation has calmed down significantly,” the spokesperson added.

Germany’s federal government on Wednesday strongly condemned any violent resistance from climate activists against the police trying to do their job.

“There was resistance today and also riots during the ongoing evacuation of the village. The federal government expressly condemns this violence,” said government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit in Berlin. “We have no tolerance for that,” he added.

He stressed that protests must be conducted “peacefully” and “within the framework of our laws,” telling activists in no uncertain terms that the evacuation of Lützerath “has to be accepted.”

The German government insists the new coal mine is essential to the country’s energy security as it seeks to wind down its dependence on Russian gas and oil.

On Friday, Dutch data analyst Wouter Aukema published the research he and others conducted into government documents released after a FOI request, on an ancillary position of minister Sigrid Kaag. She is the Minister of Finance and First Deputy Prime Minister in the Fourth Rutte cabinet.

Kaag was a member of the WHO Global Preparedness Monitoring Board (GPMB) from 2018 to 2021 and concealed this from the House of Representatives.

Aukema’s team concluded that Kaag acted in clear violation of the Integrity Manual, twice ignored advice not to serve on the GPMB and ignored multiple warnings to be accountable to the House.

The analyst’s Twitter thread about the ancillary position received almost 600 000 views, but the media has remained deafeningly silent.

This to the surprise of, among others, of journalist Dieuwertje Kuijpers. “It is really striking that all journalistic colleagues ignore Wouter Aukema’s brilliant finding: a minister with an ancillary position simply ‘shouldn’t’ be tolerated. Full stop,” she said. “That the finding is made by a messenger you do not like does not make the observation any less factual.”

During parliamentary questions, MP Leijten asked Prime Minister Rutte why the ancillary position was not declared despite the fact that it does follow from the code of conduct for ministers.

She also wanted to know whether there were other ancillary positions of ministers that should be registered according to the code of conduct, but have not been registered.

Kaag off to Davos again

Next week, 52 heads of state and government are expected in the Swiss ski resort of Davos. Nearly 600 company directors have also been invited. The Netherlands is sending ministers Kaag, Hoekstra, Ollongren and Schreinemacher.

They will discuss the war in Ukraine, the economy and “climate change”, among other topics. World Economic Forum president Borge Brende said that this year a “record number” of 52 heads of state and government will participate, with more than half of them coming from Europe.

Among them are President Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea, President Gustavo Petro of Colombia and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of the Philippines. Nearly 300 ministers are also expected to attend.

Brende pointed out that some delegations have requested that the names of their participants be kept secret for “security reasons”. These include delegations from China and Ukraine.

Public sessions are being held, but deals are also being struck behind the scenes in secret back rooms.

Elon Musk, for example, publicly stated that he did not want to get involved with the event participants, while NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, UN Secretary General António Guterres, ECB President Christine Lagarde and IMF Director Kristalina Georgieva have confirmed their participation.

Josh Yoder of US Freedom Flyers meanwhile said that he was getting calls from wealthy businessmen and company directors who want to be flown around by an unvaccinated crew. The revelation was made by former Jetstar pilot Alan Dana in an interview with Maria Zeee.

Some people have the luxury of choosing who pilots their aircraft, said Dana, who pointed out that there were still many pilots who had not taken the jab. The rich and powerful only want to be flown around in their private jet by an unvaccinated crew, Dana stressed.

Passengers who buy a plane ticket and fly with a regular airline do not have that luxury, the pilot said. It is therefore likely that many WEF participants will be flown to Davos by an unvaccinated pilot, he concluded.

The months of November and December last year saw a number of unexplained deaths in aviation.

Two pilots, a steward, two flight attendants and a co-pilot died suddenly. The group Airliners for Humanity, which includes the Aviation Collective, believes these incidents should be closely investigated.
