Gender changes for 8-year-olds? Scottish MP says we should ‘explore’ the options

A member of the Scottish parliament has suggested the government should “explore processes” that could see children as young as eight be allowed to legally and independently change their own gender.

Maggie Chapman, a member of the Scottish Green Party, suggested in an interview with broadcaster LBC that the current reforms may not go far enough. Chapman is an ardent supporter of the Scottish government’s controversial gender reforms to make it easier for individuals to obtain a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC) and effectively change their gender, .

Interviewer Tom Swarbrick quoted Chapman’s previous comments on the matter back to her, in which she said, “It would be appropriate and beneficial for children under 16 to have formal gender recognition.”

“Is that to say that you would support, for example, an 8-year-old having their sex legally changed?” Swarbrick asked.

“I think, in the committee that scrutinized (Sturgeon’s gender reform) legislation, we heard from a wide range of trans people who knew well before they were 16 that they were trans, and we should be looking at processes where they can be recognized. That’s not to say we set an age at which it’s fine, there will need to be much wider discussions.”

Swarbrick clarified, “You’re thinking a child below the age of 16 would have their own decision about whether to change their sex legally?”

“Yes,” Chapman replied.

“So, in theory, an 8-year-old could do that?”

“I think, in principle, we should be exploring that,” Chapman confirmed.

The car-crash interview continued. Sensing an opportunity, Swarbrick asked, “Would you lower the voting age to 8?”

“I think we should actually look at how young people in general are treated across society,” Chapman replied.

“So, in Scotland, you would like to see 8-year-olds able to vote and legally change their sex?”

“That is not what I said, please do not twist my words,” the left-wing MP backtracked.

Previous comments made by the left-wing MP were then put to her in which she claimed that “sex is not binary and immutable,” i.e., unable to be changed. When asked by Swarbrick if she could point to an example of a human being changing their biological sex, Chapman argued that sex as taught in text books at school was a “gross oversimplification” of the reality.

She claimed that looking at sex as binary is “far, far, far too simplistic.” She, however, failed to provide an example of anyone who has succeeded in changing their biological sex.

The Scottish government’s gender reform legislation was passed by the Scottish parliament last month and would make it far easier for people aged 16 or over to formally change their gender. The bill would remove the requirement of a doctor’s diagnosis of dysphoria in order to obtain a GRC, and would reduce the time an applicant must live in their preferred gender from two years to just three months.

The U.K. government announced on Monday its intention to block the bill from becoming law, using a constitutional mechanism included in the legislation that gave Scotland devolved powers back in 1998 for the first time.

Netherlands: Asylum Seeker Turns Out to Be ISIS War Criminal

Dutch authorities Tuesday arrested a Syrian man suspected of having been a security chief for the Islamic State and Jabhat al Nusra extremist groups during Syria’s grinding civil war, prosecutors said.

“It is suspected that from his position at IS he also contributed to the war crimes that the organization committed in Syria,” the National Public Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

The 37-year-old man, whose name wasn’t released, was detained in the small village of Arkel, about 30 miles east of the port city of Rotterdam, prosecutors said in a statement.

The man is suspected of holding “a managerial position in the security service” of Islamic State from 2015-2018, prosecutors said. For two years prior to that, he allegedly carried out the same work for Jabhat al Nusra. Prosecutors say he held both functions “in and around the Yarmouk refugee camp” south of the Syrian capital, Damascus.

The suspect applied for asylum in the Netherlands in 2019 and later settled in Arkel, prosecutors said. He was scheduled to appear before an examining magistrate in The Hague on Feb. 20.

It wasn’t the first time Dutch authorities arrested a suspect from the Syrian conflict. Last year, a Dutch court convicted two Syrian brothers of holding senior roles in Jabhat al Nusra between 2011 and 2014.

Victory against Cohen family’s Great Replacement scheme in rural French village of Callac

A plan to settle up to 70 refugee families in the rural French town of Callac has been withdrawn after mass protests from residents.

The local government’s decision to cancel the project, which was backed by the wealthy Cohen family and the Macron government, is being hailed as a victory for native French people opposed to their own dispossession.

Many of the politicians who backed the project are acknowledging that public pressure drove their decision to cancel the “Horizon” refugee reception and care project, which faced mass opposition from locals.

Two large demonstrations took place in September and November, stickers and banners were plastered on the buildings of the commune, and letter-writing campaigns put immense pressure on local pro-migrant politicians.

“I assumed the decision to stop […] At some point, you have to make a decision,” Callac Mayor Jean-Yves Rolland, who belongs to French President Emmanuel Macron’s political party, told news agency AFP. “Personally, I was for the project, but it was no longer tenable, the city council was going to fall […] I took the decision to hear them, to listen to them.”

Remix News, which previously broke the story in the English-language press, described how the Cohen family is the major financial backer and ideological driver of the project. The family, led by Marie-France Cohen, made most of its fortune in the high-end children’s clothing retailer Bonpoint, which the family sold for millions. The family’s lavish lifestyle, replete with mansions, is detailed in our investigative piece. Since then, through the family’s Medici fund, the Cohens have embarked on a range of progressive projects, with perhaps their most ambitious one being the Horizon project, which would see refugees settled across the French countryside, starting with 20 different towns.

The project was supposed to begin with dozens of refugee families for Callac, which features an aging population and a high unemployment rate.

As Remix News previously reported, the protests against the project were attended by various conservative activists and the Reconquest party. However, spearheading the effort is a citizens’ initiative made up of residents of Callac who rejected the transfer of migrants to their town. These citizens pointed to the already-high unemployment rate in Callac, at 17.6 percent, and asked why jobs were planned to be found for the new arrivals before the people already living in the area. In addition, they pointed to potential overcrowding in schools and daycare, and the millions of taxpayer euros that will be needed to integrate the newcomers.

As protests grew, the village became a symbol for the Great Replacement, which describes the demographic replacement of Europeans by non-Europeans in the West. Demonstrators pointed out that the migrant relocation scheme would drastically transform the peaceful town of 2,200 in Côtes-d’Armor in Breton, and introduce the same multicultural issues plaguing cities like France, where half of all crimes are committed by foreigners and parents are fleeing the public school system.

Some residents spoke out directly against the project, such as Danielle Le Menn, who said she has become more receptive to the ideas promoted by Éric Zemmour’s Reconquest party, a party known for its opposition to mass migration.

“I abstained for the presidential election, but the ideas of Mr. Zemmour began to please me. I would like us to keep our identity, our customs, our values. Veiled women in Callac? I don’t accept that. I am Breton through and through. What scares me is communitarianism,” said Le Menn.

Citizens also formed an initiative and delivered a letter to the mayor protesting the Horizon project, which read:

The objective would be to repopulate a small ‘aging’ town with migrants, to revitalize the town center and to develop economic activities. Migrants would therefore be supervised, housed, and trained, and 70 jobs would be found for them.

The arrival of 70 non-European families would totally upset the life of the municipality and the canton. Thirty-eight non-French-speaking children would be educated at the Callac school and divided into classes. This would further complicate the task of teachers.

How can you impose on the people of Callac such a project that calls into question the identity of our population and before the real cost of the project is determined?”

In the petition, they further argued that the millions of euros planned for the project, much of which would be provided by the French government, could be used to help the people already living in the village.

“We believe that the millions of euros that this project would cost should be invested as a priority for the local population, via the renovation of housing, via energy aid, via the development of the town of Callac and the surrounding municipalities, to allow locals to flourish there and those who want to come and settle there without monetary assistance to do so later,” the citizens wrote.

Despite this opposition, last year Macron stated that his government planned to begin moving migrants out of cities and into the countryside due to the problems of crime and ethnic ghettos in the French cities, describing it as an “opportunity.”

At the national level, 62 percent of French say they want to hold a national referendum on continued immigration, with other polls showing that a majority of French are both opposed to further immigration into France and worried about the Great Replacement.

Nevertheless, the mayor of Callac said he was disappointed the project had to be called off in his village.

“It’s a pity that it has come to this […] It was a human project of great value, no doubt very important for Callac in the future,” he said.

The mayor had intended to inform his constituents in the next municipal newsletter, but the information leaked before he could announce the project’s cancellation.

In a statement, the Merci Endowment Fund, run by the Cohens, wrote it regrets “the decision taken by the mayor and elected officials of Callac.”

The fund also claimed that opposition to the large number of refugees being moved into the town were tied to anti-Semitism, likely in a reference to the Cohen’s Jewish background.

“The Merci Endowment Fund denounces the campaign of disinformation, groups, and media of the extreme right aimed at dividing the population and destabilizing the City Council. This nauseating campaign with racist and anti-Semitic undertones is based on methods of harassment and intimidation, including death threats, targeting the mayor and several city councilors — even in their private lives.”

The Merci Endowment Fund indicated in the past that it plans to move refugees into 20 different towns in the French countryside, meaning Callac was only one location. Although the residents there won a victory through grassroots resistance, it is unclear how the fund will move forward from here. However, it is unlikely to give up entirely, as many of the other Great Replacement-style projects were in the planning stages at other locations.

Bangladesh: Muslim mob attacks and destroys houses of Hindus over blasphemy allegations, targeted person has been living in India for 7 years

On Sunday (January 15) evening, a mob of Islamists vandalised the residence of a Hindu family in Uttar Kandi village in Kotalipara upazila in Gopalganj district in Dhaka Division of Bangladesh.

As per reports, the violent mob accused a Hindu youth of committing blasphemy and ‘hurting’ the religious sentiments of the local Muslims over a Facebook post.

Soon after Islamists descended on the residence of his extended family and destroyed the property. According to Dhaka Tribune, no casualties were reported after the targeted attack.

As per a report by The Daily Star, a total of 8 shops and 4 houses belonging to the Hindu community were attacked. In a bid to pacify the situation, a large contingent of police has been deployed in the Uttar Kandi village.

The Hindu boy, now accused of blasphemy by radical Islamists, has reportedly been living in India for the past 7 years. Moreover, his other family members including his mother and sister had also moved to India about 3 months ago.

His father reportedly sold their house and properties about a week earlier and moved to India as well. While recounting the horror perpetrated by the Islamists, a cousin of the Hindu boy said, “On Sunday, we saw some 400-500 people coming to our place and vandalizing our house.”

He added that the Hindu families in the Uttar Kandi village are now living in a state of fear. According to Mohammed Zillur Rahman, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotalipara police station, the law and order situation in the area is under control.

“Additional police have been deployed. We have not received any complaints over the matter. If any complaint is filed, legal action will be taken after an investigation,” he informed.

Meanwhile, a public secretary of the local Ulama Parishad paid lip service to the incident and demanded action against the vandals.

1398 Political Prisoners in Brazil – Senator Says “Lula knew about Storm on Congress and Must be IMPEACHED”

Brussels-Midi station (Belgium): “There was blood everywhere”. A man armed with a butcher’s knife attacks travellers. As yesterday in Strasbourg, he is overpowered by a policeman in plain clothes and without a weapon (VIDEO)

Passengers at the Gare du midi were able to prevent the worst from happening this morning. Around 9.30 a.m., a man armed with a knife started shouting in the middle of the station. “I was having a coffee in the waiting area and heard very loud screams,” a woman told us after alerting us via the orange alert button. “I didn’t know where it was coming from, I thought it was a theft…. But when I got on my train, I saw a crowd of people and several security guards trying to subdue a man who seemed quite unhinged.”

The woman, who is about 60 years old, is then very shocked at what is happening in front of her and other passengers. “I hadn’t seen directly that he had a knife in his hand,” our witness specifies. “A big butcher’s knife. I saw another young man lying on the ground with blood on his face and hands. Another man came to throw the attacker to the ground, I admire his courage,” the woman adds.

“I arrived at the station at 9.40 a.m. and saw this man armed with a knife, screaming,” says this source, who prefers to remain anonymous. “I immediately intervened and subdued the armed man with the help of two security guards. I restrained him and put him in handcuffs.”

This police officer confirmed that there was another man on the ground who he said was injured in the neck area. To protect the other travellers, he isolated the man in handcuffs until reinforcements arrived. “As he lunged to subdue him, the knife fell to the ground,” the woman who contacted us reported. “People were panicking.”

For his part, the police officer is surprised at the lack of reaction of the witnesses, who were shocked and did not dare to intervene. “When you see something like this, you always fear the worst,” he concludes. “There was blood everywhere.”

“I was so scared,” the woman in her sixties finished. “It was a surreal scene.”

The injured man was taken to hospital. Police reinforcements quickly arrived to arrest the suspect. Contacted by us, the Federal Police confirmed the information. “The railway police intervened at around 9.45 a.m. because of a knife attack,” the spokeswoman explains. “One person was slightly injured, he is not in danger of death”.

At this stage, the police cannot give any further information. For example, it is not known whether the two persons involved are already known to the police. RTL.be

UK government to block controversial Scottish bill on gender reform in historic move

The U.K. government has announced it will use a constitutional mechanism for the first time to block controversial gender reform legislation passed by the Scottish government to make it easier for people to change their gender.

The Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill was approved by 86 votes to 39 in Holyrood shortly before Christmas. If enacted, it would have removed the requirement for a diagnosis of gender dysphoria from a doctor in order to apply for a gender recognition certificate (GRC).

It would also have reduced the time an applicant must live in their preferred gender from two years to just three months, and perhaps most controversially, would have lowered the minimum age a person can apply for a GRC from 18 to 16.

On Monday, the U.K. government’s Scottish Secretary Alister Jack announced he would invoke a clause in the legislation that handed the Scottish government devolved powers from Westminster to block the bill from becoming law.

“I have decided to make an order under section 35 of the Scotland Act 1998, preventing the Scottish Parliament’s Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill from proceeding to Royal Assent,” Jack wrote in a statement.

“After thorough and careful consideration of all the relevant advice and the policy implications, I am concerned that this legislation would have an adverse impact on the operation of Great Britain-wide equalities legislation.

“Transgender people who are going through the process to change their legal sex deserve our respect, support, and understanding. My decision today is about the legislation’s consequences for the operation of GB-wide equalities protections and other reserved matters.

“I have not taken this decision lightly. If the Scottish Government chooses to bring an amended bill back for reconsideration in the Scottish Parliament, I hope we can work together to find a constructive way forward that both respects devolution and the operation of UK Parliament legislation,” Jack added.

The decision has sparked outrage among the government in Scotland, run by Nicola Sturgeon’s Scottish Nationalist Party (SNP), which has long advocated Scottish independence from Westminster.

In response, Sturgeon called the move a “full-frontal attack on our democratically elected Scottish Parliament and its ability to make its own decisions on devolved matters.”

She vowed to “defend the legislation and stand up for Scotland’s parliament,” warning that if the U.K. government was successful in vetoing the bill, “it will be the first of many.”

Progressives in Holyrood passed the bill despite polling results published last month showing as many as two-thirds of Scots aged 16 and over oppose the plans. In particular, 66 percent opposed reducing the minimum age required to apply for a GRC from 18 to 16 years old.

Sweden: Government declares war on migrant gangs

Greta Thunberg poses with her gangster friend. Twitter

Sweden has been experiencing non-stop explosions, shootings and murders for weeks now. The cities of Stockholm and Malmö are particularly affected and the police have been overwhelmed. The government intends to lead the charge against escalating violence by various migrant gangs.

Once one of the richest countries in Europe, Sweden was regarded as a model society. In reality, the capital Stockholm as well as the third largest city Malmö – but also other Swedish cities – have seen the rise of serious crime, shootings and gang turf wars.

This can be seen particularly well from one statistic: While murder rates have been falling throughout Western Europe since the 1990s, they are on the rise in Sweden.

The murder rate has been rising in the Scandinavian country since 2013. A report by the National Agency for Prevention of Violence showed that 12 people per million inhabitants are victims of violent crime in Sweden, compared to just 8 in the rest of Europe. According to a police report, 60 people have died from firearms in 2022 alone.

Shootings between criminal gangs are increasing

In 2018 the country had the highest gun deaths in total in Europe while deaths involving guns tripled in Sweden between 2012 and 2020.

Police commissioner and sociologist Amir Rostami told The Local portal: “Whereas they might have fired a shot or shot someone in the legs, now it’s more like AK47s, more bullets, hand grenades and explosions that we haven’t seen before. I would say that’s the biggest change we’re seeing – they’re more ruthless, they don’t seem to care about the consequences.”

Eight in 10 shootings in Sweden happened in a “criminal environment” mostly in disadvantaged immigrant neighborhoods, according to the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (2022). And when the gangs made more money, the disputes between gangs only grew.

In 2021, Swedish teen rapper Einar was shot several times and killed in a suburb of Stockholm. In response, Sweden’s then National Police Commissioner Anders Thornberg told the Financial Times that the rising gang violence in Sweden could potentially be a “threat to democracy” if “certain groups” do not integrate, referring to immigrant ghettos.

Already 350 criminal organizations in Sweden

Crime reporter Lasse Wierup estimated that there were now at least 350 criminal organizations operating in Sweden. In Stockholm alone, 1077 people are known to be gang members.

These gang members are mainly migrants who live in the prefabricated buildings of the outskirts, comparable to the banlieues in France. The violent excesses are mostly about “wars” between hostile clans. Gang crime is particularly rampant in those residential areas of Malmö and Stockholm that have a high proportion of migrants. Sweden thus imported its horrendous problem.

Ardavan Khoshnood, a criminologist at Lund University and an emergency doctor at a Swedish hospital, said that since the shootings in Sweden started in 2010, he used to witness gunshots to arms, hands, and legs. However now, he said, he is seeing shots toward the head as gangs are now “shooting to kill“.

“And that’s clearly seen at the emergency departments all around Sweden,” he said.

A journalist, Diamant Salihu, explained that generally, older gang members recruit teenagers from vulnerable areas to commit shootings, because those under 18 risk being in youth custody for a maximum of four years in Sweden.

Trust in the state and its institutions undermined

Most of the perpetrators are therefore young, between 20 and 29, according to statistics from the Swedish security authorities. The victims are overwhelmingly men (2021: 96 percent).

Police Commissioner Rostami commented on the scourge: “Living in an area where there are hand grenades and shootings creates fear and perhaps a feeling that society is unable to deal with these serious problems. It undermines trust in the state and institutions, especially when the detection rate is very low.”

That is why the Swedish government of Ulf Kristersson finally wants to do away with gang crime by intervening directly in the police work to finally see results. The current administration also wants to make it significantly more difficult for migrants to immigrate to Sweden.

Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer has met with the police leadership several times in the past few weeks. At Christmas he announced weekly meetings to discuss how to tackle serious organized crime. Previously, these meetings had only taken place once a month. The government also plans to set up a commission to review policing and recent events.
