Germany: Tunisian serial offender stabs continuously – public prosecution covers up

If there is the first suspicion that an immigrant has become the victim of a serious crime, there is immediately a press release. The parties’ expressions of consternation are not long in coming …

On the evening of October 27, a serious crime was also committed on the central Marienplatz square in Schwerin – but the perpetrator was an immigrant. A Tunisian (32) had stabbed an Algerian (22) in the back and seriously injured him. However, the police did not report the incident. The public prosecutor’s office had the right to withhold information from the press. Consequently, the public did not learn anything!

However, a coincidence made the case public days later. Martin Schmidt (34, AfD), a member of the state parliament, had observed pools of blood, ambulances and police cars at the scene and subsequently submitted a question to the Minister of the Interior, Christian Pegel (48, Social Democratic Party). The latter then admitted the incident, according to Schmidt. And Schmidt is outraged: “A stabbing in one of Schwerin’s most frequented squares – and not a word about it in the press? It’s outrageous that an attempt is apparently being made here to cover up immigrant crime.”

Claudia Lange, spokesperson for the Schwerin public prosecutor’s office, rejects this: “It is by no means the case that the facts were to be covered up. It was communicated by us upon request.” But who should ask about something they know nothing about? Lange goes on to explain that the public prosecutor’s office always declares a press embargo when it is so involved that, for example, it has to decide on a request for arrest.

What actually happened in this case! An arrest warrant was issued against the Tunisian for dangerous bodily harm!

The striking thing about it is that the detainee is Bilel Z. (32), an serial offender whose criminal career has already become a political issue. The Tunisian was deported, re-entered the country, went into hiding, was briefly arrested, quickly released, continued to rob and steal. When he finally slashed the face of a compatriot with a razor blade at the first reception centre for asylum seekers in Stern Buchholz in February 2021, the AfD shortly afterwards put a small question to the state government to obtain information about the circumstances of his illegal re-entry.

However, the answer was never published on the recommendation of the Ministry of the Interior. Because of the Tunisian’s “personal data worthy of protection”, the publication of which would “seriously violate his right”, was the official explanation.

The long-term asylum seeker knew how to take advantage of so much leniency. After the razor attack and other assaults, he simply went into hiding again to avoid possible arrest. It was not until this spring that the refugee was caught in Switzerland on the basis of a European arrest warrant and brought back.

Nevertheless, in Schwerin the first two convictions followed within a few days in September. Bilel Z. was sentenced to 12 months in prison for two counts of dangerous bodily harm – suspended. And for a bundle of other offences (drugs, theft, among others) he received another prison sentence of several months – again suspended, of course.

As a free man, Bilel Z., who committed more than two dozen crimes, returned to the asylum centre in Stern Buchholz. It only took a few days until the aggressive man caused the next police intervention. Because he thought he was not getting enough pocket money, he had insulted the staff and threatened them with a razor blade.

An enquiry by the newspaper BILD at the time to the Ministry of the Interior as to why an serial offender like Bilel Z. can repeatedly undergo an asylum procedure and not be deported again was only answered evasively. General reference was made to the applicable regulations in the asylum law and to the responsible Federal Office for Migration and Refugees.

The new knife attack by Bilel Z. clearly shows the failure of the authorities. An unteachable, highly dangerous criminal is let off the hook for years – literally without any consideration for the consequences. And now new criminal proceedings are being opened. It would not be surprising if parole and probation were followed by another parole …

For Martin Schmidt, a member of the state parliament, the case is clear: “Anyone who attracts attention through criminal behaviour has forfeited his right to be a guest.

Netherlands: Arab asylum seekers set fire to settlement (VIDEO)

In the Netherlands, a 27-year-old migrant was arrested after a large fire in a container settlement. He allegedly set fire to the refugee accommodation together with compatriots because the authorities did not comply with the request for better accommodation.

A video of a large fire is currently going viral on Twitter. On Sunday, a fire broke out in a container estate in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Emergency services were able to extinguish the fire in the container complex in the Slotervaart district, but 75 housing units were destroyed. Hundreds of people were evacuated, six people suffered smoke inhalation.

The search for the motive is ongoing – on Twitter, several journalists wrote that the arsonists were said to be Arab migrants demanding better housing. A 27-year-old migrant was arrested at the scene, but the authorities are not giving further details. Twitter is filled with outrage. One user wrote: “Ungrateful people. They neither benefit the host countries nor accept the culture and beliefs of the host country. Only turmoil from these people”.

Beauty shots: Germany’s Green Party economics minister wants €400,000 for personal photographers

The stereotype is that teenage girls now spend endless hours in front of their smartphones, taking dozens or sometimes hundreds of beauty shots before they find the perfect one for an Instagram post. Now, Germany’s Green Party economics minister, Robert Habeck, might be taking a note out of their playbook in an effort to bolster his sagging approval ratings.

Habeck is now seeking out a personal photographer for €400,000, with the German taxpayer footing the bill.

The move comes after a series of bumbling television appearances, one of which was covered by Remix News, where the economics minister appeared to have no basic understanding of economic concepts. Such naivety might have been excused in previous times, but the German economy has been in a free fall, businesses are going bankrupt, and soaring food inflation is eroding savings and leaving citizens wondering how they will get through the winter.

Habeck was once the country’s most popular politician, but according to an Insa poll, he is now in eighth place.

Although Habeck has been unable to stem his country’s economic crisis through policy, one area he can still control is improving his public image. The once-shining Green Party star already posts numerous photos on social media, where he presents himself as a competent leader hard at work, an image increasingly being questioned by the German public. According to polling data, 53 percent of Germans believe he is unsuitable for his role, and only 31 percent believe he is suitable.

Critics of the 53-year-old former children’s book author who now leads Europe’s biggest economy are labeling him as simply too vain to effectively lead the country, including the conservative Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which released a statement on the matter:

“In the past, monarchs had court painters so that they could put themselves in the limelight and exaggerate their own role in the eyes of history and their subjects. Today, it’s faster and easier with photos that are no less ‘faked.’

Robert Habeck from the Greens would now also like to have a court photographer who can do something like this. His ministry has advertised a corresponding framework agreement; the salary is said to be around 400,000 euros… It only shows the priorities of the traffic-light politicians: Vanity takes precedence over expertise, ideology over integrity, bravado over factual politics.”

Although an entourage of photographers and cameramen already exist for Germany’s ministers, these are apparently not fit for his purpose. The job ad for the photographer stipulates that the candidate should present the minister in the right light “both for trips abroad and domestic trips, but also for appointments in Berlin.” The potential employee will earn €400,000 over the course of four years.

Habeck’s ministry indicated that the position was justified since it has a duty to “inform the citizens transparently about their work and appointments.”

French NATO soldiers in Romania hungry, freezing, overrun by rats

Screenshot Twitter

French NATO soldiers stationed at the Cincu military base in Romania bitterly complained to an investigative journalist about the terrible living conditions they suffer. They live in filthy prefabricated houses from Mali that are hardly heated, there are not enough toilets, and garbage is piling up in the camp.

The soldiers “live in a swamp with rats and dogs”. According to the Allied Agreement, France is responsible for accommodation and necessary services such as water, energy, waste, etc. while Romania acts as host country.

French journalist Justine Brabant uncovered the misery for the French outlet Mediapart and posted the damning evidence, including photos, on Twitter.

According to reports from the soldiers, the meal consisted of an omelette, the bread from the day before and a soup with pieces of tomato. “I’m hungry, I’m cold, I’m tired,” wrote a soldier on WhatsApp to his relatives at the end of October. The scandalous situation went viral, with French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu visiting his Romanian counterpart, Angel Tilvar, last week.

Brabant posted on Twitter that only a few selected soldiers from the dilapidated military base in question were allowed to be present at the meeting, because “of course, they would have had a lot to tell,” she wrote ironically in a thread.

French General Staff: Rustic quarters are ‘normal’

Brabant sent an inquiry to the French General Staff, and the response included: Rustic conditions are “normal” at the start of an operation. Between the lines it was conceded that there were temporary power outages too. But the situation will soon change, they promised. Meals would be improved and more toilets have been ordered.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense (MApN) said that under Allied procedures, “the responsibilities for accommodation, troop rations and the provision of related services (water supply, energy, waste disposal, etc.) at the Cincu site have been fully assumed by the French side”. As the host country, the Romanian side had fulfilled all its obligations, according to a press release.

Deterrence mission against Putin

NATO’s first multinational battlegroup in Romania was created on February 28 on the occasion of the Ukraine conflict to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank. France is leading the mission, which is also to run in a rotation system with forces from Belgium and the Netherlands.

There are currently 350 soldiers in Romania, and there will eventually be a total of 700 deployed. In the coming weeks, the presence is to be increased by further armored infantry vehicles and Leclerc tanks, reported Le Figaro. The battlegroup has since been transformed into the NATO Response Force with the headquarters in Cincu.

“France leads this year’s highest-readiness element of the NATO Response Force, a multinational force comprised of up to 40 000 land, air, maritime and special operations personnel that NATO can deploy at short notice as needed,” according to NATO.

Following Brabant’s exposure of the scandal, some French MEPs called on the chair of the parliament’s defense committee to look into the matter. They face serious problems in terms of logistics and support, they said in a press release, citing the sparse meal, tents without heating, bed bugs and the poor sanitary conditions.

This deplorable state of affairs is all the more shocking as the soldiers have been stationed there for eight months. In addition, they claim to be not a “combat mission but a deterrence and defense mission”. These soldiers therefore do not need to be “resilient”.

What kind of “a deterrent signal is it for Russia when our soldiers starve and freeze,” they wanted to know. They also threatened to have the committee chair prosecuted.

Georgetown research which claims Muslims are in the 8th stage of genocide in India is written by a Pakistani researcher, funded by Saudi Arabia

In October this month, The Bridge Initiative under Georgetown University in the US published a report claiming that Muslims are in the 8th stage of genocide in India. Echoing the claims of Islamists and left-liberals alleging persecution of Muslims in India, the report titled “Is a Genocide of Muslims underway in India?” concludes that “the process of genocide of Muslims is underway in India”.

“Islamophobia is central to this process, which is occurring at both a top-down and bottom-up level, as Hindu nationalists across the country have been emboldened by the right-wing BJP-led government— both share the same goals of remaking India as a homeland exclusively for Hindus,” the report claims.

The 40-page report alleges that India has experienced a dangerous rise in Islamophobia over the past decade. “The rise in this bigotry has largely come into being with the election of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a right-wing Hindu nationalist party,” it says.

The report says that it has examined the situation in India using “Gregory Stanton’s 10 stages of genocide, and finds that examples of the first 8 stages of genocide are present in India.” It claims that the first 8 stages are prevalent, and the ninth stage has started to emerge.

The entire report is based on such baseless and frivolous arguments to claim that India is seeing serious genocide of Muslims, which is allegedly on the 8th stage in a 10-stage scale. According to Gregory Stanton’s 10 stages of genocide, the eighth stage includes expropriation, forced displacement, ghettos, and concentration camps. The 9th stage is mass killing, so the report claims India is entering the stage of mass killing of Muslims, which is a dangerous lie designed to trigger anti-India feelings among Muslims across the world.

Initiative run by Islamists

While anti-India reports targeting the Modi government published by left-liberal think tanks in the west is nothing new, this report by the Georgetown University groups has a particular aspect, a direct link with Pakistan and Islamists. This report seems to be authored by Pakistani and Islamist elements, not by typical left-liberals.

The Bridge Initiative is described as a “multi-year research project on Islamophobia”, and it functions under the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (ACMCU) at Georgetown University in Washington DC. The ACMCU was set up with a donation of $20 million by Saudi Arabian billionaire businessman Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud in 2005.

Alwaleed has been a controversial businessman and was arrested on corruption charges.

The Bridge Initiative focuses exclusively on alleged Islamophobia and has published reports alleging that anti-Muslim hatred is on the rise in various countries. After Donald Trump became the US president, the group published several similar reports, alleging that anti-Muslim views were mainstreamed by the Trump campaign and administration. The Initiative had also hosted a panel discussion about “Islamophobia” in the Trump era.

Now coming to the report on India, the lead researcher mentioned in the report is Mobashra Tazamal, a Pakistan-origin researcher who has done her Master’s degree in Islamic Societies & Cultures. Her profile on the Georgetown University website states that “her current research centers on global Islamophobia with a particular focus on China’s campaign targeting Uighur Muslims and its use of surveillance technology, the rise of ethno-nationalism, and the financial and trans-Atlantic connections of the Islamophobia ‘industry’.” She is the associate director at the Initiative.

Other prominent members of The Bridge Initiative include Arsalan Iftikhar, another Pakistan-origin researcher. Arsalan Iftikhar is infamous for his racist commentsagainst American politician Bobby Jindal, when Jindal was Louisiana’s governor. Appearing on MSNBC, Iftikhar had said about Jindal, “He might be trying to, you know, scrub some of the brown off his skin as he runs to the right in a Republican presidential exploratory bid.” This remark had triggered massive outrage, and MSNBC had announced that Iftikhar won’t be appearing on the channel again.

Another member of the Initiative is Farid Hafez, who was investigated by Austria for suspected terror funding and association with Muslim Brotherhood. The Austrian authorities raided his Vienna house in 2020 and questioned him after monitoring him for years under Operation Luxor.

John L. Esposito, the director of Bridge Initiate, although a Christian, has written extensively on Islam. In his books and articles, he keeps claiming that anti-Islam sentiment is rising in the world.

Another member of the group, Susan L. Douglass, is an American Muslim, who did MA in Arab Studies. Jordan Denari Duffner is the other member of the Initiative, who is “a leading Catholic voice on Muslim-Christian relations.”

The Bridge Initiative of Georgetown University is not a neutral group, it is a group of Islamists who accuse the world of Islamophobia. Among the 6 members of the initiative including the director, four are Muslims, two of them from Pakistan.

Therefore, there is no wonder that they have authored a completely Hinduphobic report accusing Hindus in India of being Islamophobic.

Baseless allegations

Moreover, the report is filled with baseless allegations against India, repeating the familiar false arguments already made by Islamists and left-liberals against the Modi government. It cites the CAA as an anti-Muslim policy of the Modi government, where the fact is that the CAA only accelerates granting citizenship to persecuted minorities in neighbouring countries. CAA does not deny citizenship to Muslims, it just does not accelerate the process for them, but foreign Muslims can become Indian citizens under normal procedure.

The report also cites NRC in Assam as another anti-Muslim step, whereas the fact is that every country has right to identify and deport illegal immigrants. In fact, the NRC of 1951 was updated in Assam on the orders of the Supreme Court.

Using another familiar anti-Hindu and anti-BJP argument, the report says the ban on hijab in schools in Karnataka is anti-Muslim. The government’s decision has been accepted by the High Court, and neither the government nor the court bans Muslim women from wearing hijabs or even Burkha. The rule is only applicable to schools where uniforms are mandatory. Only a handful of Muslim girls are fighting to break the Uniform rule, and the Georgetown University group thinks enforcing uniforms in schools, a globally accepted practice, is Islamophobic.

The report cites the Ram Janmabhoomi judgement, the ongoing case over Gyanvyapi, and other such cases as anti-Muslim. They fail to mention that it is well known that these Islamic structures were constructed after demolishing ancient Hindu temples, and Hindus are fighting to restore those heritage temples.

Italian Minister Considering Confiscating Migrant Taxi NGO Ships

Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi is considering confiscating the ships of migrant taxi NGOs as part of a new security decree aimed at reducing the number of illegal migrants arriving in Italy.

Interior Minister Piantedosi is said to be preparing a new security decree to take on the issue of illegal immigration that will revolve around certain key areas, including the activities of migrant taxi NGO vessels picking up migrants in the Mediterranean Sea.

Part of the new decree, which has yet to be drafted, is expected to concern administrative action and sanctions against NGO ships that refuse to carry out the orders of Italian authorities, one of which could include the confiscation of vessels rather than criminal proceedings, Il Giornale reports.

In prior years, Italy has confiscated ships belonging to taxi NGOs, including the Mare Jonio in 2019, and a vessel belonging to the Spanish NGO Proactiva Open Arms in 2018. The Mare Jonio was later released in February 2020, however, after an appeal by the NGO  Mediterranea Saving Humans, who operated the ship.

So far this year, migrant taxi NGOs have picked up at least 10,000 migrants in the Mediterranean and brought them to Italy, a large share of the overall number of illegal arrivals, which stands at just over 90,000 according to UNHCR statistics.

Minister Pinatedosi’s new decree is also expected to oblige NGO ships to be able to accommodate migrants for long periods so that Italiana authorities can board the ships and identify those who are legitimate refugees and those who are not.

Another part of the decree will involve agreements with countries in Africa to construct refugee camps to help identify migrants before they depart as well as provide a mechanism for deportations.

In the longer term, Italy is expected to spearhead a new ‘Marshall Plan’ for Africa that will look to invest in the continent to prevent migrants from wanting to make the dangerous journey to Europe.

Similar plans have been proposed previously by various figures, including former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in 2018. Berlusconi, who now serves as a Senator, is a coalition ally of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and members of his party, Forza Italia, serve in the Meloni cabinet.

‘Equity’ is just communism

By Jay Davidson

DIE.  Diversity, Inclusion, Equity is the mantra, the maniacal chant of the religious zealots of the left.

Equity comes from the elitists and globalists in the dominant political party.  But look more deeply.

Equity is forced redistribution of property.  Equity demands that those who have give to those who have not.  It’s not a free exchange; it is forced by a central controller, by our own government.

Equity presupposes that you do not have any right to ownership of your property, including your earnings and accumulated wealth.

It sound innocuous, but equity is the precursor to all-out communism.  These leftists in the Democrat party parrot such luminaries as Soros, Schwab at the WEF, and most elitist Democrats.  They all channel Marx and Lenin.

The left intend to enact a failed political and economic system (communism) but “do it better.”  This is the level of economic destitution that runs our country today.

If any entity is able to destroy your inalienable rights by redistributing wealth, then that entity has destroyed or intends to destroy our Constitution, along with your inalienable rights to life, liberty, and ownership of property.

This is the true threat to every American, not whether one supports or denigrates Trump or the next big personality.  The evil specter of totalitarian control by your own government is the one true threat.

Put petty differences aside and unite to reverse the trend to destruction forced on us by the left.  We will either be destroyed by our own government or arise from the ashes as individuals who put our government back under control of our Constitution.

And please stop waiting for the “one” person to solve all your problems.  The “one” person who will solve all your problems is you, the individual, working in concert with other individuals to save our cherished nation and pass down the beloved freedom we knew from the past.  And that we will know in the future.

Individual freedom is not a zero-sum game.  Individual freedom multiplies and magnifies as more individuals see it and live it.  Individual freedom propagates with mutual respect.

The saga of an old French town – to Islamize or not? Callac as a microcosm of an immense question of civilization now at stake in Europe

by Giulio Meotti

A small town nestled among cow pastures. The café run by a social club, abandoned buildings, only elderly around. So when city council members heard about a program to “rejuvenate” the city, it seemed like a winning lottery ticket.

We are in Brittany, France, but we could be in Italy.

Except that what city leaders saw as an opportunity for rejuvenation, for others was evidence of a “Great Replacement” of French natives. The theory of the “Great Replacement” came to Renaud Camus during a visit to one of these small country towns, Vémars, in the Val d’Oise, at the home of François Mauriac. Camus saw the suburbs with veiled women, the aesthetic change of the province.

In a very short time, Callac, a town of 2,200 inhabitants, ended up at the center of national attention and became the scene of protests for and against the plan. Callac’s story is also on the front page of the New York Times.

Today, half of Callac’s inhabitants are retired. Just about ten children are born every year. The largest employer is the local nursing home. A stroll downtown reveals dozens of empty shop windows, where florists, dry cleaners and photographic studios once stood for weddings that are no longer celebrated. The latest dental practice announced its closure in July.

In 2016, the matriarch of the “Merci Fund” behind Callac’s project volunteered to host an Afghan in the family villa near the Eiffel Tower. Her three children wanted to expand the idea. The Merci fund thus bought the property where the last Callac bookshop closed in August. The eldest son, Benoit Cohen, is a director and author who wrote a book about the experience entitled “Mohammad, my mother and me”.

In Raunheim, the town of 14,000 inhabitants on the outskirts of Frankfurt, the first in Hesse to allow the prayer of the muezzin every Friday, Mayor Thomas Jühe of the Social Democrats said at Welt that it is a question of demography: “70 percent of the population of Raunheim are migrants Here we have more Muslims than Christians”.

A part of the population of Callac does not want to end up in the same way. For this reason the citizens of Vierzon, a town in the French Loire, have blocked the sale of a disused church intended to make it a mosque .

We must therefore think of Callac as a microcosm of an immense question of civilization now at stake in Europe. On the one hand, the UN, the European Union, the ships of the German NGOs in the Mediterranean, the mainstream media, and on the other hand those who think that Callac with a minaret, veiled women in streets and halal butchers will not be the same Callac of yesterday, today and (perhaps) tomorrow.

UK Conservative party backs mass immigration, but Tory MPs don’t want it in their constituencies

The U.K. Conservative Party spent nine years following David Cameron’s electoral victory in 2010 pledging to reduce net immigration into Britain to the “tens of thousands,” and failed to do so in every year.

The Brexit referendum of 2016 was fought and won on a pledge to “take back control of Britain’s borders,” a vote that was solidified in the last ever European elections which were won by Nigel Farage’s insurgent Brexit Party, and subsequently in 2019 when Boris Johnson’s Conservative party won its largest parliamentary majority since the 1980s, again running on a ticket to reduce immigration albeit dropping the “tens of thousands” pledge.

The party’s popularity has plummeted since 2019 and Rishi Sunak’s Conservatives are currently languishing at 26 percent of the vote share, according to the latest Deltapoll survey conducted Nov. 10-14; which is almost half of the 50 percent vote share the opposing Labour party currently enjoys.

When those figures are explored further, as they are in a More in Common/Public First poll conducted at the start of November, the primary reason why 2019 Conservative voters have abandoned the party is because, “The Conservative Party has not stopped illegal immigration such as the Channel crossings.”

Concern over immigration has risen substantially since the number of people arriving unlawfully into the country with a view to claiming asylum rose exponentially since 2019.

Worries about immigration are now the highest they have been since the 2016 Brexit referendum, and according to the More in Common polling almost three quarters (73 percent) of Brexit voters, and 57 percent of all voters in the U.K. believe immigration has increased since Brexit. A total of 78 percent of Brexit voters and 56 percent of all voters consider the current immigration figures to be “too high.”

In contrast, less than a third (30 percent) believe it is either “about right” or “too low.”

So with the sizable parliamentary majority inherited by Rishi Sunak’s administration, and the greater freedom to control its borders provided for by Brexit, you would be forgiven for thinking the Conservative party would find it easy to implement an immigration policy that would please the electorate.

But that hasn’t been the case. On the contrary, the new Conservative government is making the same mistakes as its many predecessors which is affording too much weight to the economic arguments for mass immigration and neglecting people’s valid concerns about the social consequences.

A case in point is Thursday’s Autumn Statement announced by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt which reads:

Since leaving the European Union, the government has refocused the immigration system towards securing the skilled labor businesses need to stay competitive and innovative. Over the last year a high number of visas have been issued, partly reflecting the U.K.’s action to welcome those from Ukraine and Hong Kong and international students returning after the COVID-19 pandemic. As these temporary factors ease over time, the government expects net migration to return broadly to pre-pandemic levels. The government will continue to strike the balance between reducing overall net migration in the longer term with ensuring businesses have the skills they need.

Inward migration can ease short-term skills gaps, however it is crucial that over the long term, the UK’s domestic workforce is equipped with the skills necessary to maximize their productivity and drive economic growth. The U.K. Treasury’s Autumn Statement executive summary, published Nov. 17

The Treasury is right on one point, an extraordinary number of visas have been issued in the past year. In Home Office-released visa, asylum and immigration statistics pertaining to the year to June 2022, more than 1.1 million visas were granted for people to come and live in the United Kingdom — that’s more than half a million higher when compared with the year to June 2019, or before the pandemic.

The research group, Migration Watch UK report it is the “highest number of visas for people to come and live [in the U.K.] ever issued in one year.

However, even a return to the pre-pandemic level of 570,000 visas in 2019, which the government claims to want to see, is too high a figure for many U.K. voters. The latest available ONS figures for the year to June 2022 put the level of net immigration at 239,000 per year — a far cry from the previous “tens of thousands” target which Home Secretary Suella Braverman said only last month was still her “ultimate aspiration.”

In the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) report accompanying Thursday’s Autumn Statement, the body assumes net migration “to settle at 205,000 a year from 2026 onwards.”

To many, it has become clear that the Conservative party has no intention of tackling the immigration issue with the vigor necessary to satisfy the social concerns of much of the electorate, and its failings to address the issue are no more visible than in its handling of the English Channel migrant crisis.

More than 40,000 people have crossed the English Channel this year alone to reach Britain, with many of them having traveled from as far as central Africa and the Middle East in order to do so.

Many, however — 12,000 in fact, according to the Home Office — have come from Albania, and many others don’t just originate from “safe” countries but have crossed through a dozen in order to reach Britain.

There have been disputes about how to describe the new arrivals. Much of the right-wing press describe them as economic migrants, while the left-wing press talk of refugees. As they have arrived in Britain in order to claim asylum, we will describe them as asylum seekers.

The U.K. government’s handling of the crisis has long been criticized by both the political right and the left. In the eyes of the former, the government should not be sanctioning the use of Border Force, the Royal Navy, or endorsing the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) charity, all of whom have taxied asylum seekers located in the English Channel to shore. Instead, they argue those attempting to cross should be turned around and escorted to French territorial waters, and those who reach Britain should be deported in order to make the trip less attractive for those attempting to follow suit.

Meanwhile, the latter chastise the government for what they say is its inhumane approach, demand greater facilities for those they are adamant are refugees, and blast the overcrowding of processing centers, such as the overwhelmed 1,600-capacity Manston center in Kent which until recently had been catering for 4,000 asylum seekers.

Due to overcrowding, the Home Office has for the last few years committed to block-booking now more than 200 hotels across the U.K. to accommodate new arrivals whose asylum applications are being processed at a snail’s pace — just 4 percent of those who arrived last year have so far had their claims reviewed.

However they are described, what is clear is that a growing number of Conservative MPs are getting it in the neck from their constituency’s local authorities, local associations, and residents, all of whom are complaining that social services are — to quote the joint-letter submitted by local authorities in Kent to the Home Office — at “breaking point” and are insisting that numbers in their local area be curtailed.

It seems to be the case that the Conservative party backs mass migration as a concept, but Tory MPs knows that when they are accountable to their dissatisfied constituents who don’t support it, they must publicly denounce the open door policy each British government has overseen since Tony Blair and Labour came to power in 1997.

This week, immigration minister, Robert Jenrick admitted that the Home Office and its third party agent Serco which acts operationally on its behalf, needed to resort to using rural Britain to take its shares of asylum seekers after inner cities became saturated and social services were overwhelmed.

It is safe to say the news didn’t go down well among Conservative MPs with rural constituencies, who knew exactly how their constituents were going to respond to the proposal.

Matt Warman, Conservative MP for Skegness, attempted to let his constituents know he is on their side after furious residents chastised the authorities this week for allowing five hotels in the area be block-booked for an indeterminate amount of time by the Home Office to house asylum seekers.

He agreed there was a “big scale problem” with the government’s current immigration and asylum system and as a consequence “you end up with people being housed in hotels in places like Skegness, which is not the best place to be putting people who potentially have complex health needs and there’s already pressures on health and public services.

“There have been a lot of people getting in touch about it and some of them immensely frustrated. I completely share that and we shouldn’t be in this position in the first place,” he added.

Scott Benton, the Conservative MP for Blackpool South asked Home Office minister Robert Jenrick: “How does he think my constituents who can’t get an NHS dentist or a GP appointment or a council house feel about the fact that we’re spending £2 billion a year on hotel bills because we can’t be bothered to solve this issue?”

Meanwhile, Ben Bradley who represents the constituency of Mansfield revealed that local homeless people had been ejected from a hotel in his area to cater for asylum seekers.

“When local homeless people are being displaced from temporary accommodation in order to use the hotel for migrants, a line has been firmly crossed,” he told the House of Commons, adding that the current situation was “untenable.”

Lee Anderson, Conservative MP for Ashfield echoed Bradley’s sentiment and slammed his own party’s government for not having a harder line on tackling illegal immigration.

“I’ve got 5,000 people in Ashfield who want to secure council housing and they cannot get one. Yet, we’re here debating this nonsense once again. When are we going to stop blaming the French, the ECHR, and the lefty lawyers?” Anderson asked.

The Conservative MP for Ipswich Tom Hunt recently criticized the High Court’s refusal to extend an injunction won by the local council which prevented a local hotel from accepting more asylum seekers. The hotel had laid off 20 members of staff considered to be redundant after securing a contract with Serco to house the new arrivals.

He called it “an appalling and intolerable situation that angers me just like it angers my constituents.

“There are an increasing number of MPs who are experiencing similar issues in their constituencies and I’m confident that the pressure in parliament to try and force a re-think will only grow,” he added.

The list goes on. Maggie Throup representing the rural Erewash constituency in Derbyshire called the placement of 400 asylum seekers recently housed in two hotels in the area “wholly unsuitable.”

North Devon MP Selaine Saxby requested an “urgent and detailed consultation with the council” in her rural constituency after 55 asylum seekers were placed at a seaside resort hotel with the local council claiming that were not consulted by the Home Office on the move. She told immigration minister Robert Jenrick that the tourism industry in her area is being damaged every day that hotels are not welcoming their normal customers at the expense of housing asylum seekers.

Jonathan Gullis, the Conservative MP for Stoke-on-Trent North complained asylum seekers were being “dumped on” his constituency and asked Robert Jenrick when he was going to tell Home Office contractor Serco that “Stoke-on-Trent has done its bit and to no more use it?”

Meanwhile, prominent Brexiteer David Davis penned a letter to the Home Office on Thursday to complain about asylum seekers being placed in his rural seat of Haltemprice and Howden without warning, and highlighted the issues the local authorities had already had with a number of Albanian asylum seekers.

Philip Hollobone, the MP for Kettering, accused Albanian nationals — who make up more than a quarter of the total people arriving in Britain via small boats and claiming asylum despite Albania being a safe country — of being behind a crime wave in his constituency.

“From where I’m sitting, at this present time, His Majesty’s government is neither protecting our shores, nor protecting my local community from an increase in imported crime,” the Conservative MP said.

The reality with the Conservative parliamentary party, with mass migration unlikely to be reduced to a level the majority of Brits will find satisfactory, is that it appears to be the case among the party’s MPs of “immigrants for thee, but not for me.”
