The 24-year-old Hamza had appeared in the emergency room of the Brussels hospital on Friday morning armed with a knife. There he allegedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” (” Allah is the greatest”) and then declared that he was going to die, but he would come back to “kill everyone”, according to witnesses.

The person had then moved away without hurting anyone. However, the police had taken the threat very seriously and immediately launched a large-scale manhunt for the man. The Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office had been informed, as well as all other police stations in the capital and all hospitals in the Brussels region. The police in his home municipality of Martelange in the province of Luxembourg had also been notified.

On Friday (November 18), Indore police said that a 32-year-old Muslim man has been arrested for forcing his Hindu wife to convert to Islam. The accused has been identified as Rubab Shah.

Khajrana police station officer Dinesh Verma briefing about the case said that the accused who is a fourth-year homoeopathy student has been booked for using fraudulent ways and forcing the victim to change her religion, which goes in violation of the provisions of the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 2021.

In her complaint, the accused’s wife stated that she met the man while working in a private hospital and was “trapped” into getting married to the accused in 2015.

The victim also stated that her husband’s attitude towards her turned hostile three years after their marriage when she had a daughter. According to the complaint, he then forced her to convert to Islam.

The woman also accused her husband of harassing her for dowry, according to the police officer. Police said that further investigation is underway and necessary action will be taken. 

Recently, a similar case was reported in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, a person named Saharukh was arrested under the state’s anti-love jihad law for hiding his religious identity from a 25-year-old Hindu woman and sexually exploiting her for over 5 months. The accused also abused the woman and threatened her to convert her religion to Islam, as per the complaint. The Police registered a case against the accused and arrested him on November 2.

Reportedly, accused Shahrukh (29) who was already married, had introduced himself as a Hindu person named Raju to the victim woman. The incident is said to have happened around January in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district. The woman, a resident of Indore, Madhya Pradesh had migrated with her friend to work as a housekeeping staff at a hotel in Udaipur.

A man who declared his intention to carry out a terrorist attack was arrested on Avenue de Prado in Marseille, BFM Provence reported on Saturday November 19. The man had told a passer-by near a restaurant in the city’s eighth arrondissement that he was a terrorist ready for anything and that he wanted to support the Palestinian cause.

The anti-crime brigade (BAC), which was called to the scene, quickly intervened. The man pretended to be holding something in his hand and claimed he wanted to negotiate with the police. However, the officers quickly realised that it was in fact only a lighter.

The man was eventually arrested and taken into police custody. Neither explosives nor dangerous objects were found on him. The man had assured investigators that he intended to kill police officers, soldiers and Jews.

Arson is suspected by investigators after a fire broke out at the cathedral of Saint-Pol-de-Léon on Thursday evening in what could be just the latest arson attack on a Roman Catholic church in France.

The fire is believed to have broken out at around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday evening in the commune of Saint-Pol-de-Léon, located on the north-west coast of France in the Brittany region.

A total of 13 firefighters arrived on the scene at the Saint-Paul-Aurélien Cathedral, which was built in the 13th century, along with local members of the gendarmes, Ouest France reports.

According to the broadcaster, at least a dozen chairs appeared to have been set on fire inside the historic cathedral, lit by candles and causing significant amounts of smoke in the building.

The Mayor of Saint-Pol-de-Léon, Stéphane Cloarec, said that their fires appeared to have been set deliberately.

No one was injured as a result of the fire and the damage to the structure is said to have been minimal, with the cathedral able to reopen the following day.

Built between the 13th and 15th centuries, the cathedral has been classified as a historical monument in France since 1840. It was built on the site of an ancient wooden church believed to have been built sometime in the 4th century.

The alleged arson attack is just the latest against a Catholic church in France and comes just a year after a 36-year-old man was suspected of setting fires in four different churchesin October and November of last year in Boulogne and Portel.

Several other cathedrals in France have also been targetted by arsonists, including the Saint-Pierre cathedral in Rennes in 2020, which saw arsonists place a large trash bin by a side door of the cathedral and light it on fire in an attempt to burn the cathedral.

That same year in Nantes, a Rwandan migrant was arrested for setting the Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul on fire, causing serious damage and destroying its grand organ and stained glass windows.

The same Rwandan, identified as  Emmanuel Abayisenga, was arrested again the following year and indicted for murdering Catholic priest Father Olivier Maire, allegedly beating the clergyman to death.

Last month, Abayisenga was finally indicted for the murder after spending over a year in a psychiatric facility.

Cases of ‘love jihad‘ continue to appear in different parts of the country. Now, one such case has surfaced in Bihar in which one Taufiq Alam pretended to be Raj Rajput to lure a Hindu woman Julie Kumari of Katihar into a love marriage. Once Julie knew the reality and resisted Taufiq, who is already married and has an 11-year-old daughter from his earlier marriage, he started forcing the victim woman to convert to Islam.

Not only this, but when the victim expressed her desire to take a divorce, Taufiq threatened her that he will kill her and her family members. The victim Julie Kumari has filed an application with the Superintendent of Police Katihar in this case. The accused Taufiq Alam is currently living in Gulf.

Julie Kumari (age 29) lived in the BN Colony under the Manihari police station area of Katihar district with her family that sells vegetables to earn a livelihood. In her complaint, Julie said, “In 2015, talks with the accused started through Facebook. He had created an ID in the name of Raj Rajput on Facebook. He also told me his name was Raj. The numbers were exchanged and the conversation began. Then he also came to meet me. Raj said his father’s name is Amit Singh. He lives in Delhi with his family. We got engaged in 2016. No one from his family came then. Later, we got married in court.”

Julie Kumari further said in her complaint, “After marriage, he took me to his sister’s house in Supaul. He didn’t let me out of the house. Initially, I found her sister’s diet strange. When I told Raj, he said there was nothing like that. Then I started to understand that Raj is not a Hindu. After some time, I came to know from the people around that Raj’s real name is Taufiq Alam.”

As Julie Kumari confronted Taufiq Alam, she was shocked to know that he is already married and has a daughter as well. Julie Kumari wrote in her complaint, “When I asked Raj about this, he said that he is already married. He also has an 11-year-old daughter. I asked why you cheated on me, but he asked me to keep quiet and live together. He also said if you try to leave me, I will kill you.”

Julie Kumari said, “After some time, Taufiq started pressurizing me to change my religion and started assaulting me. He refused my Hindu way of worship. He asked me to offer Namaz. He started asking me to dress just like Muslim women.”
