‘Muslim Rohingyas big burden on country’, says Bangladesh PM, seeks India’s help to send them back to Myanmar

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina described the Rohingya Muslims seeking sanctuary in her country as a “big burden,” and said India might play a significant role in dealing with the issue. She stated that her country is contacting the international community to ensure the repatriation of the Rohingyas to Myanmar.

“For us, it’s a big burden. India is a vast country; you can accommodate, but you don’t have much. But in our country. We have 1.1 million Rohingya. We are consulting with the international community and also our neighbouring countries. They should also take some steps so that they can go back home,” Sheikh Hasina remarked in an interview with ANI.

Though she claimed her government made the effort to vaccinate the Rohingya people with COVID-19 vaccines, she underlined that this would be difficult for a long time. According to Bangladesh’s Prime Minister, criminality involving narcotics, women, and weaponry is on the rise, and she believes that the return of the Rohingyas to their country is critical for Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina will pay a critical bilateral visit to India on Monday. Hasina’s four-day visit to India is estimated as a chance to strengthen the long-standing partnership between the two fastest-growing South Asian economies. Here are some key takeaways from her interview with ANI Editor Smita Prakash.

Sheikh Hasina claimed that her government strongly supports secularism and that any attempt to disrupt communal peace is swiftly dealt with. “As long as we are in power, we always give importance to that and I always tell them that you are our citizens. You should own our country. But some incidents sometimes take place but immediately we take action. It has sometimes happened, but it’s a very unwanted situation,” she said.

“We all, together we celebrate… As a cultural event, even you can see it in Bangladesh, during Durga Puja. In so many places, we have Durga Puja and people celebrate all together. So the religious harmony is there but now some… here and there some incidents happen but our government immediately takes action against it,” the Bangladesh PM further said.

There have been instances of violence and animosity directed towards Bangladesh’s minority Hindu population. According to certain accounts, attacks on Durga Puja pandals or places of worship have occurred. Hasina said that it was crucial for nations to show kindness when asked about incidents of violence against the Hindu minority community.

In response to concerns that Bangladesh may follow Sri Lanka’s example, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that her country’s economy remains robust despite the Covid-19 strike and the unrest in Ukraine and that her government exercised utmost prudence when receiving any loans. She claimed that the world was now dealing with problems that were not specific to Bangladesh.

“Our economy, still it is very strong. Though, we faced this Covid-19 pandemic, now the Ukraine-Russia war. That has its effect here. But in debt rate, Bangladesh always pays timely all its debts. So our debt rate is very low. In the context of Sri Lanka, our economic trajectory and the development, it is (planned) very, very calculatingly,” Sheikh Hasina said.

She went on to add, “I think the whole world is facing an economic problem. We are also. But yes there are some people who raise this issue. Oh, Bangladesh will be Sri Lanka, this and that. But I can assure you, no, that will not happen. Because we… all our development plans, what we prepare and we implement, always we see that what would be the return? How people would be the beneficiary? Otherwise, I don’t take any project (for) just spending money.”

Sheikh Hasina called India a loyal friend and said the two nations’ long-standing water-sharing conflict should be settled to alleviate Bangladesh’s problems.

Sheikh Hasina said,” We are downstream, water is coming from India. So, India should show more generosity. Both countries would be beneficiaries. Sometimes, our people suffer a lot because of this, especially the Teesta River. We found that PM [Narendra Modi] is very eager to solve this but the problem is in your country. We share only Ganges water but we have 54 other rivers. It’s a long-standing problem and should be resolved.”

Also, Sheikh Hasina thanked the Indian government and Prime Minister Modi for the help extended to Bangladeshi nationals stranded in Ukraine. She labelled the help as a ‘friendly gesture.’ She also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for India’s Vaccine Maitri initiative.

Bangladesh’s foreign policy, according to Sheikh Hasina, is centred on the country’s growth. Referring to China, she said, “Our foreign policy is very clear — friendship to all, malice to none. If there’s a problem, it’s between China and India. I don’t want to put my nose there.”

Throughout the interview, Sheikh Hasina kept reiterating the strong relationship between India and Bangladesh. She said that she is thankful to India for the help extended during the Bangladesh liberation movement. “India is our trusted friend. We always remember India’s contribution during the 1971 war. Even in 1975, when I lost all my family members, the then-Indian PM gave us shelter in India,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina recalled the days when she and her family used to live at a house on Pandara road in central Delhi with disguised names. “Our names were changed due to security reasons. We were provided with all security until we went back to Bangladesh. We lived in India from 1975 to 1981,” she added controlling her emotions on camera.

Sheikh Hasina will be in India from September 5 to September 8 where she will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, and newly elected President Draupadi Murmu. Her last visit to India was in October 2019, months before the coronavirus epidemic.

After Wasting $1B on Woke Lord of the Rings Series, Amazon Cries Racism, Censors Reviews

Diversity casting seems as much about creating fall guys and gals for the inevitable failure of massive IPs being incompetently mined for profit by woke corps. Amazon’s Rings of Power, the Big Tech retail robber baron’s high draw intellectual property for which it spent $500 million on just the rights, has bombed badly with a 36% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Expect that to change though as Amazon and the media push the narrative that negative reviews of the woke reboot whose producers and writers displayed vocal contempt for the original Tolkien source material are racist and a hate crime, combined with the expected claims of death threats against actors (if there aren’t any yet, Amazon’s PR people will find some or invent some).

That won’t change much.

The core problem is that the new woke era of Peak TV is terrible at producing basic entertaining material. We live in a world in which theaters and TV have converged with streaming and 90% of everything consists of buying the rights to an IP and then making as much of it as possible in order to drive subscription rates. Amazon’s theory is that blowing a billion on Rings of Power will drive new subscriptions and retain existing ones. It’s a dumb business model that burned billions of dollars for the big players during Peak TV. Netflix’s stock price drop should have been a warning. But despite that Peak TV continues with billions in spending by the big players.

Accusing critics of racism, or some sort of phobia, is a convenient dodge to cover up the basic incompetence and greed of the key players in this scheme. No movie or show fails anymore, it’s just beset by “racist trolls” whose views have to be urgently censored lest there be an urgent rash of hate crimes against…

1. The Ghostbusters reboot

2. The Disney Star Wars conveyor belt of garbage

3. Whatever IP is about to waste a billion dollars

But you can only cry racism so much to cover up the creative and economic failures of wokeness. Go woke and go broke.

Germany: Arab rapes 28-year-old woman in park

The West Palatinate police headquarters is currently investigating a horrific crime in Kaiserslautern. A 28-year-old woman filed a complaint because she had been raped early on Monday morning ( August 29). The crime was committed in the Volkspark, a recreational area in the east of the city. There, the woman spends time with a man she does not know.

Around 1 am, the situation suddenly escalates. The strange man starts kissing the 28-year-old and grabbing her breasts. Although the woman makes it clear that she does not want this, the perpetrator simply continues – and in the end even forces her to have sexual intercourse. The victim later says that she can only remember the crime in a fragmentary way. In Mannheim, too, a woman was recently raped at a lake.

Although the 28-year-old from Kaiserslautern cannot remember everything, she fortunately remembers the appearance of the unknown man. He is described as follows:

  • Arabic appearance
  • about 35 years
  • between 1.80 and 1.85 metres
  • slim
  • brown eyes
  • short, straight, black hair and a full beard
  • At the time of the crime, wearing a white shirt with a floral pattern, a black outdoor jacket and black shoes.
  • smoker
  • speaks German with an accent

The Western Palatinate Police Headquarters is now looking for witnesses to the crime who witnessed anything suspicious in the Volkspark Kaiserslautern at the time mentioned. Information can be obtained from the criminal investigation department by calling 0631 369-2620.

Another BLM leader accused of fraud

By Rajan Laad

The New York Post reported that Black Lives Matter leader, Shalomyah Bowers, purportedly siphoned more than $10 million of donors’ money.

A lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court claims Bowers treated BLM foundation funds as his “personal piggy bank” and acted as a “rogue administrator” and a “middle man turned usurper.”

Bowers, who became head of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation in April, is accused of paying millions to his own Bowers Consulting Firm and diverting resources from a new group called Black Lives Matter Grassroots, Inc.

BLM Grassroots was founded in California in May by Walter Mosley, the lawyer who also drafted the lawsuit against Bowers

BLM Global Network Foundation paid the Bowers Consulting Firm $2,167,894 in 2021, per federal tax filings.

The lawsuit also claims that while BLM activists were on the street risking their lives, Bowers was in his cushy offices devising schemes of fraud and misrepresentation which broke the implied-in-fact contract between donors and BLM.

While Bowers is claiming innocence, it would not be surprising if he did indeed profit from BLM. Despite their claims, BLM seems to me founded for solely pecuniary gains.

BLM is a perfect instance of how modern liberalism functions as an extremely lucrative business model.  BLM merely expanded on the extortion business model of veteran race hustler Al Sharpton, which is ‘give us your money else we’ll brand you racist,’ but did it on a much larger scale.  Al Sharpton must feel like a worn-out pair of shoes in the bottom drawer of a shoe case.

Black Lives Matter” began as a trend on social media, in 2013 following Trayvon Martin’s death. Soon it evolved into a slogan used by ‘protestors’ across the US.

In the death of George Floyd in 2020, BLM saw their biggest opportunity to take the ‘movement’ to the next level and become the sole arbiters in matters of race.  In parallel, BLM carried out ‘protests’, which were actually riots all over America.

Dozens of people were killed and numerous others injured and thousands of businesses and propertiesmany minority-owned, were looted, torched, or otherwise vandalized.

Axios revealed that the total insured property losses incurred during the riots are between $1 to $2 billion dollars. The actual number including losses of uninsured property must be considerably higher.

That must not have mattered to BLM.  For BLM, the riots were a promotional event that caused their coffers to be overflowing.

BLM was supported by the Democrats and their propagandists in the media because they could blame the riots on Trump and benefit from it politically. The Democrats, too, saw this as an opportunity to raise funds.

The noise created such a frenzy that anybody who was anybody began donating to BLM

Hollywood stars such as Angelina Jolie, Steve Carell, Seth Rogen, Kate Beckinsale, Jennifer Lopez, Ryan Reynolds, etc. donated to BLM.

Some stars even bailed out BLM rioters who were taken into custody.

Big tech firms such as Google committed $12 million. Facebook and Amazon donated $10 million. Apple pledged $100 million, and so did Walmart. Target pledged $10 million while Home Depot announced  $1 million.

BLM didn’t make any verifiable promises; their goal was unstated, esoteric, and symbolic which ensured they could keep collecting without any oversight.

Rich donors didn’t verify how their donations were spent. Their sole purpose of donating was to be regarded as among ‘the good ones’. It was also like protection money to prevent BLM thugs from banging at their doors.

In the end, BLM managed to make $90m in just one year over the death of George Floyd.

Such was their brand recognition that BLM even began to sell merchandise. Those who couldn’t donate millions would parade around in BLM T-Shirts to prove their virtuousness.

So, what became of the money?

Last April, the NY Post reported that BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors, then BLM’s executive director, spent $3.2 million on various real estate properties across the US.

There were also reports of transactions where BLM transferred money to a Canadian nonprofit managed by the wife of Cullors in order to buy a $3 million house

New York Magazine reported that in late 2020, BLM spent $6 million on a 6,500-square-feet Southern California mansion.

Although the property had originally been bought for $3.1million, it was transferred to the Delaware company for $5.8million. The reason for the disparity between these two figures is perfectly obvious.

Like most modern left-wingers, BLM claimed its mission is dismantling capitalism. But again, like most modern leftists, they have no qualms about enjoying the luxuries of free market capitalism.

Despite claiming to be a Marxist organization, BLM dodged its taxes.  It failed to file taxes for 2020 when it raised millions after George Floyd’s death. It also didn’t disclose its donations and expenditures, raising legal and ethical red flags.

The millions raised could have been invested in education,  training, hospitals, gyms, sports complexes, rehabilitation centers or to pay legal assistance for those in need.

But nothing of the kind occurred because the sole focus of BLM founders appears to be themselves.  BLM, despite their questionable use of donors’ money, will never face much antipathy from the public.  There are those who are still mortified to call them out publicly for the fear of being branded, racist.  There are some who are truly gullible who think the intentions of BLM are noble and the allegations are a result of White Supremacists’ fabrications

So, what is BLM’s Legacy?

Beyond abusing donated funds and causing destruction worth billions, the BLM movement has done great damage to the fabric of the nation.

They have diminished the significance of the terms such as ‘racist’. No longer is the allegation taken seriously; the beneficiaries of this are real racists such as Joe Biden.

Also, BLM via their propaganda must have convinced a section of African Americans that their country is systemically racist, hence persecution is inevitable irrespective of education or talent or hard work. Losses can be recouped and property can be rebuilt but the destruction of hope is usually permanent.

It breeds cynicism and pessimism that always has a deleterious effect on society.

All those who supported BLM perhaps out of fear are also to blame for this.

In the end, Shalomyah Bowers may well be just another parasite feeding off the gravy train, there will doubtlessly be more, and worse they are unlikely to be punished.

Germany: Kosovar chops up Ukrainian woman with axe

On Sunday morning, a 23-year-old man killed a woman with an axe in a flat in Löwenberger Straße. According to police spokesman Stefan Petersen, the crime took place on the ninth floor of a flat in a ten-storey prefab building in the Lichtenberg district of Berlin, which was built in the 1970s. The Berlin police announced on Sunday afternoon that the dead woman was a 27-year-old Ukrainian. According to a police spokesperson, the crime happened at around 7.40 a.m. in Löwenberger Straße. When the police arrived, the man was beating the woman with an axe. The officers then shot at the 23-year-old Kosovar. He was fatally shot.

According to eyewitnesses, the man and the woman had been arguing loudly. Neighbours called the police. “There is yelling in the block from time to time,” said a tenant. The woman died of her injuries at the scene. Police spokesman Stefan Petersen-Schühmann told the newspaper Berliner Zeitung that the flat was a “gruesome scene”. A homicide squad is investigating.

An immediate neighbour said that he heard screaming at around 7 am. The man hit the woman with an axe, then went down the corridor with it and damaged doors. One of the flat doors was covered in blood.

After China’s pact with the Solomon Islands: US navy turned away

This is a major defeat for the US – and a clear win for China. Around three months after the conclusion of a security agreement with China, the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific have now closed their ports to foreign naval units. The island republic has revised its rules for accepting foreign ships as a result of the pact with China.

A spokesman said the intention was to expand the national capacities for monitoring the exclusive economic zones of the South Pacific island state.

Last week, a US Coast Guard ship was unable to call at a port in the Solomon Islands because the government failed to respond to a routine request for refueling and supplies. The British naval ship Spey also had to cancel a planned port stay. A spokesman for the US State Department described the lack of clearance for the military ship as “regrettable”. White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby criticized China’s attempts to “intimidate” nations across the Indo-Pacific region and force them to act on their terms.

The only thing that is certain, is that the Solomon Islands have left the US sphere of influence in the Pacific as a result of the security pact with China. Since the conclusion of the pact, relations between the island republic and the US have been strained. The pact with China allows the Middle Kingdom to station law enforcement and military on the Solomon Islands in the event of a conflict.

The entire South Pacific region had been claimed by the US as a sphere of influence for decades. In addition, only last year the US, Great Britain and Australia formed the AUKUS tripartite alliance, the main purpose of which is stemming the growing Chinese influence in the region.

With the security pact with the Solomon Islands, China has thwarted this goal and, on the contrary, has extended its influence far into the American-Australian sphere of influence. The consequences for the US Navy will be felt.

German FM dismisses German voters as irrelevant

Annalena Baerbock faking her concern for her own voters. Facebook

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) shows very little respect for her own voters. At a discussion event in Prague, she declared that despite possible protests in Germany about the consequences of harsh sanctions, she would not change her policy. After all, she promised that to the Ukrainian people. Easing sanctions against Russia was not an option.

“If I make a promise to the people of Ukraine: ‘We will stand by you as long as you need us’, then I will keep that promise. No matter what the German voters think. And I will support the people of Ukraine as promised,” Baerbock is quoted as saying in various media outlets.

Baerbock is aware that people in Germany could soon take their protest to the streets, but according to her, it does not matter: “People will take to the streets and say that they can’t pay their energy bills.” Social measures take precedence, but she will not allow sanctions against Russia to be lifted.

Baerbock’s comments (which she made in English in Prague) promptly caused a massive response. AfD boss Alice Weidel accused the Green politician of not caring about her own citizens. “It’s not me saying this, but she herself. And [Baerbock] admits that the #traffic-light [coalition] works deliberately against the people in our country,” tweeted Weidel. The Bundestag member Sevim Dagdelen from the Left also criticized a foreign minister who acted according to the motto “Ukraine first, citizens don’t matter” as a “total failure”.

Left party member of the Bundestag Sarah Wagenknecht put it even more succinctly. She tweeted: “A foreign minister who avowedly represents not the interests of German voters but of #Ukraine & rejects negotiations to end the war in the interests of the US government is not only a blatant miscast, but a danger to our country.”

On Monday, Left party supporters want to protest against the policies of the Greens in Berlin. Alexander King, media policy spokesman for the Left Party in Berlin, explained the move: “The Greens lead the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and are therefore responsible for two key policy areas in which the pressing issues of energy security, burdens on private households and the future of many jobs and companies are decided.”

King added: “It may also have played a role that well-earning politicians from the Greens have recently made a name for themselves with questionable [energy] savings tips for the population such as: washcloths, ‘cat baths’. And Baerbock’s recent pronouncements, ‘no matter what my voters think’, came on top of that.”

What do voters think?

A recent poll has been a hard blow for Chancellor Scholz, Baerbock and her Green colleagues: According to the survey, German support for the Ukraine war and the policies of the federal government is dwindling noticeably. An impressive 77 percent of Germans are of the opinion that the West should start negotiations to end the Ukraine war.

This emerged from a survey by the opinion research institute Forsa for the RTL/ntv Trendbarometer, which was published last week on Tuesday, even before Baerbock’s announcement. Only 17 percent think the West should not negotiate peace.

Some 87 percent of respondents also think it is right for Western heads of government to continue talking to Russian President Putin. Only 11 percent did not think that was right.

This opinion is a clear rejection of the attitude of the current German political class in power which have repeatedly shunned with negotiations with Moscow. In fact, Baerbock also declared that Germany would continue to support Ukraine with arms deliveries if necessary.

However, according to the Forsa survey, 25 percent of Germans believe that the federal government was doing too much for Ukraine. On the other hand, just as many, namely 26 percent, think that the federal government was doing too little. Some 43 percent think the level of support is just right.

When it comes to “heavy weapons”, the opinion is unequivocal. Almost two-thirds of Germans, 62 percent, oppose the delivery of more heavy weapons to Ukraine. Less than a third of Germans are in favor of this.

The poll already seemed to reflect skyrocketing energy prices and numerous other restrictions that are a direct consequence of Western pro-Ukrainian policies. While mainstream politicians never tire of making German sacrifices for Ukraine, a growing majority of Germans are apparently no longer willing to do so.

Macron’s Pessimistic Moment

“Prepare for the end of abundance!” This is the message that French President Emmanuel Macron offered in his first post-holiday pronouncement last month. Though supposedly addressed at the French people, Macron’s lamentation seemed to have the entire “Western world” in mind.

According to him the era of easily available capital and seemingly endless natural resources, notably oil and natural gas, is already over. The “Western world” must learn to live in a different way.

Though Macron did not use the old cliché about “consumerism” depleting the planet’s resources and causing climate change, it was clear that he had half an eye on the ecologist hymn-sheet.

Why would the leader of a democracy encourage pessimism, not to say anguish, exactly at a time that, according to his fanciful analysis, we are heading for dire straits?

One answer may be found in the setback that Macron’s party, a hodgepodge of groups from across the political spectrum, suffered in the recent general election, winning only a plurality.

Six years ago, Macron built his surprise success by trying to de-ideologize French politics and bridging the classical 200-year-old left-right divide.

What happened in the first five years of Macron’s presidency seemed to confirm his assumption that France was prepared to free itself of ideology. In that period reds, Communists and socialists of various shades, became pink while blues, traditional rightist and Gaullist parties, became turquoise, and blacks, hard right and neo-fascist groups became grey.

However, the change caused by Macron’s “revolution” opened the way for a new ideology in a society that seems unable to do without an ideological panoptic. That ideology had been lurking on the sidelines for decades under different labels, notably environmentalism, ecologysm, declinism and political correctness or its American version, wokeism.

According to German political theorist Carl Schmidt, every society needs what he calls a “nomos” the ancient Greek word for the organizing principle of a society’s material and cultural life. That “nomos” could have a dynamic, even an aggressive, attitude. But it could also reflect lethargy and even fear of losing freedoms or material means of subsistence.

In its current version, the nomos trying to seize control in almost all Western societies could be described as “victimism”.

According to it, the planet is the victim of mankind’s insatiable appetite for consumption. Mankind itself is the victim of greed which is bred by capitalism, itself a victim of capricious markets. Women are victims of men while the youths, forming the majority of the “underprivileged”, are victims of the rich old.

Descendants of former slaves are victims of descendants of former slave-owners. Those with “alternative life-styles” are victims of those who stay straitlaced and favor the parson’s position.

The search for new religious, social, economic, ethnic and other victims is endless. Society must be divided into countless slices, each equal to but at the same time different from all others.

Schmidt’s “nomos” was abused by the German Nazis and “Third Way” advocates as a means of dissolving civil society while the state devoured the nation before spitting it out in a war.

The new “nomos”, on the other hand, seems designed to emasculate the state into a court jester for a society defined as a coalition of victims.

Gone are the days when Frederic Bastiat told the French parliament in the 19th century that a “desacralized state” could become a danger to freedom. Today, Francois Guizot, who advised the French to “go and get rich” both materially and culturally, would feel out of place in Paris.

We hear echoes of Adolphe Thier, the man who crushed the Paris Commune, who told the Parliament that “Easy life isn’t good for everyone!”

Recently on French state TV, there were two journalists boasting about how they refused to wear neckties and formal suits to interview Macron and how they refrained from addressing him as “Mr. President,” supposedly to avenge an older generation of TV reporters who, now cast as post-factum victims, had to kowtow to presidents De Gaulle, Mitterrand or Chirac.

Spreading a paradoxical salad-bar, victimist ideology challenges the concept of individual and equal citizenship in the name of “the people”, an abstraction capable of being misunderstood and misused. Remember the Nazis’ slogan: “You are nothing! Your People is all!” (Du bist nichts, dein Volk ist alles!)

Saying the same thing, albeit in a pseudo-philosophical formula, August Comte asserted that “The citizen has only the right to consent, no other rights!”

In victimism, the state is seen as a cash machine distributing money among the victims, while apologizing to them. In the past few years. Western states, both in Europe and North America, have distributed countless trillions to bolster their shaken legitimacy.

Some philosophers, among them the German Jürgen Habermas, have tried to give victimism a Christian varnish. In their reading, the Western world, long after having adopted “secularism”, remembers Christianity as a school of frugality, empathy for the downtrodden and atonement of sins symbolized by Christ as the ultimate victim.

The trouble with that reading is that it is closer to the Greek concept of the scapegoat, than to the Christian concept of redeemer.

In the Greek concept, the scapegoat is truly sinful and its sacrifice cleanses the society. In the Christian concept the redeemer is innocent, symbolizing his sacrifice as a sign of divine grace.

Victimism is a witches’ brew of misunderstood Christianity, a zombie version of Marxism, eco-fanaticism and bleeding-heart liberalism espoused by mostly well-intentioned, well-to-do but pessimistic people. With the mantra “less is better than more”, they warn that economic growth leads to Thanatos or collective suicide.

From now on, perhaps until the end of time, we ought to opt for “no more growth”. The advice is “desire what you have” and “recycle what you don’t want.”

Amazingly, civilizations that feared growth, shunned innovation, favored recycling, and curbed desires, as we see in that great book “Gilgamesh”, were doomed to decline and die.

The good news is that victimism, though stronger than ever in Western societies, has not succeeded in killing the Western civilization’s fundamental optimism, craving for individual freedom, innovation and growth.

Macron’s real or feigned pessimism could turn out to be a passing cloud.

France: During a rally against the deportation of an anti-Semitic imam, Muslims threaten the magazine Charlie Hebdo, which has already been the victim of an Islamist terrorist attack once before

“Freedom for Iquioussen”. These were the slogans heard at the protest in support of Imam Hassan Iquioussen, a preacher who has been expelled from France and is on the run, in Paris on Saturday September 3. Throughout the afternoon, numerous association officials and activists spoke to the crowd via microphones. These speeches included violent messages, particularly directed against Charlie Hebdo.

” I am not Charlie. This newspaper is evil. It is a weapon of mass destruction against our country,” said, for example, Alexis Trouillas, a member of the Émergence movement, who was recorded by a journalist from the newspaper Le Figaro covering the gathering.

However, the satirical newspaper, which was the victim of an Islamist attack in 2015, was not the only one to receive invective from the protesters. According to the videos of the Le Figaro journalist, other media outlets also came under repeated fire. “The media is persecuting us! Europe 1 is persecuting us, it is my Islamic being they are targeting!” shouted one woman in particular, who introduced herself as a spokesperson for the Perspectives musulmanes (Muslim Perspectives) association.

The interior minister was also blamed. The activists gathered in the capital repeatedly chanted “Darmanin, resign”. They also denounced the policy of France, which they said was guilty of “state Islamophobia”.
