France: Khaled R. beat his girlfriend with one hand while holding his infant in the other, threatened to stab witnesses who intervened

It was just last week when 28-year-old Khaled R. beat his girlfriend while holding his newborn baby in his arms only to then threaten witnesses with a knife after they tried to intervene in the city of Nice in France.

It was only 10 days later, on Aug. 28, when the man was convicted by a court for his actions. According to Prosecutor Maud Marty, the newborn that Khaled R. grabbed while beating his girlfriend ended up in the middle of a “mind-blowing scene of violence.” When two young witnesses tried to intervene and stop Khaled R. from beating his girlfriend, they were attacked.

The scene took place in the middle of the street, in the Jean-Medecin sector, on Notre-Dame Avenue. where Khaled R. was seen slapping his girlfriend hard.

“We heard cries. We saw him with his baby in his arms as he was hitting his wife with the other hand,” said Anthony, who was a witness.

Despite police and witness accounts, once in court, the young mother said that the slapping was a “game” and the baby was in the stroller the whole time, according to French news outlet Var-Martin.

“In fact, it’s a game. We both love each other,” she said. “We slap each other ‘normally.’ I’ve never seen him violent.” She attempted to justify her partner attacking the individuals who intervened, claiming they said: “F**k your mother,” and “it pissed him off.” Her testimony reportedly left the court “speechless.”

The prosecutor in the case praised Celine and Anthony, whose identities have not been disclosed by authorities, for showing courage by intervening and helping a “battered woman.” Both individuals said Khaled R. put a knife to Anthony’s throat when he attempted to help the victim.

Anthony said Khaled R. told him, “I’m going to cut you, you’re going to die,” while Celine told the court, “It happened like that. I had the greatest scare of my life.” The police eventually arrived and arrested Khaled R.

Khaled R. disputed that version of events, saying he never touched either person.

Both witnesses left the court under police escort, with Celine telling the press that she has received ongoing threats from men associated with Khaled R. She said she could not believe that Khaled R.’s partner was also against them despite them trying to help her.

Khaled R. has been sentenced to 18 months in prison by the judge in the case.

Germany: Bosnian released despite 95 hand grenades and four Kalashnikovs in his boot

Ten Saxon prisoners were released from prison in 2021 by the Higher Regional Court because their cases were not processed quickly enough. Among them is one of the masterminds of the weapons smuggling of 2019.

Review: On February 18, 2020, the Federal Police arrest two Bosnians (17, 28) at the main railway station. In their Mercedes car: 95 hand grenades, four Kalashnikovs, eight pistols and ammunition for a buyer in Belgium. The couriers are convicted shortly afterwards.

The alleged masterminds of the arms deal were brought to trial in January 2020. Only Adin K. (27) is sentenced to three years in prison, the co-defendant Aladin K. (31) is acquitted.

On appeal by the public prosecutor’s office, the Federal Supreme Court overturns the verdict in October 2020. The Regional Court would have to retry the case and the trial is delayed. On May 25, 2021, the Higher Regional Court also revokes the warrant for Adin K.’s arrest.

There is no new trial scheduled yet. Thomas Ziegler (53): “As soon as a date is set, we will summon the accused abroad.”

French mayor will no longer pay town’s electricity bills

The refusal of the mayor of Montataire in northern France to pay for the rise in electricity prices could be followed by other elected officials.

Jean-Pierre Bosino, the communist mayor of Montataire, has announced that he expected the municipality’s electricity costs to quadruple from 600 000 to 2,5 million euros. He has refused to pay such sums and has called on other elected representatives to follow suit.

Is this the beginning of a wave of refusals? On learning of the forecast increase in electricity costs for his municipality, the PCF mayor of Montataire (Oise) Bosino almost “fell off his chair”, reported French daily Le Parisien, and said he would simply not pay the bill.

The bill would quadruple for this town of 15 000 inhabitants with an operating and investment budget of 32 million euros, if prices rise from 600 000 euros to 2,5 million euros. It would be impossible to follow, according to the mayor, who said that “taxes would have to be increased by 40 percent” to absorb the shock.

Bosino argued that the opening of the market to competition was to blame, seeing it as the cause of this sharp rise, recalling that the NOME law [abbreviation for “new organisation of the electricity market”] – of 2011 – voted during Nicolas Sarkozy’s term of office – “obliged EDF, the historical supplier, to resell electricity of nuclear origin at 50 euros per megawatt to its competitors, which costs it 8 billion euros, which is now missing for the maintenance of the power stations”.

The politician was furious and blamed “these same competitors who speculate and drive up prices by selling this electricity at 700, 800, 1000 euros per megawatt”. In order to get out of a system that is “walking on its head”, he called for local authorities to be exempted from the obligation to go through calls for tender and to be able to buy electricity at a regulated rate.

His request was addressed directly to the State which must react quickly, according to the elected representative. The price of wholesale electricity in France has increased more than tenfold in a year.

“If nothing is done, we will not pay the bills, we call on all communities to do the same,” he told Oise Hebdo, refusing to consider any closure or reduction in activity of local public services. “Faced with this situation, the President of the Republic and the government are playing around with announcements that are completely disconnected from reality,” he said.

Senate has warned of spike in energy bills

Jean-Pierre Bosino’s warning and call for disobedience echoed a report submitted to the Senate at the end of July, according to which “the forecasts of local authorities will have to be revised in order to provide for this operating [energy] item with expenditure that is sometimes three to four times higher than the previous year’s”.

The rise in energy expenditure “jeopardises essential local public services” and could lead to “an increase in local taxes affecting the purchasing power of households”.

Earlier, French energy giant EDF filed an appeal with the Council of State seeking compensation of more than 8 billion euros. It has been plagued by the terms of the “tariff shield”, and in particular the sale of electricity at low prices to its competitors, the electricity producer in a press release on 9 July.

On 13 January 2022, an additional allocation of 20 TWh of electricity sold at regulated prices for 2022 was announced by the government. It justified these measures by the desire to increase by 20 percent the annual quota of electricity sold at a reduced price to its competitors, to 120 TWh (compared to 100 TWh previously). This sale was made within the framework of the mechanism called “regulated access to historical nuclear electricity” (Arenh), regularly denounced by EDF.

According to the Ministry of the Economy, “the State will continue to defend the Arenh increase mechanism before the State Council, which again recalled last July the general interest associated with this decision”. The same source defended the importance of forcing the EDF to buy volumes of electricity at a high price on the markets in order to resell them to its competitors.

The EDF estimated that the measures decided by the government would reduce its gross operating surplus (Ebitda) by some 10 billion euros this year.

Nuclear indebted by green policies

The bill adds to another major setback: the decline in its nuclear production, linked to corrosion problems on some reactors, could cost nearly 24 billion euros more, according to the latest estimates published in late July.

The group, financially weakened and heavily indebted, must now nevertheless implement an ambitious programme to build new EPR nuclear reactors in France in parallel with the development of renewable energies.

The energy crisis affecting the whole European continent could lead to protests in the coming months. In the UK, a citizens’ group called “Don’t pay UK” has already invited Britons to stop paying their gas and electricity bills from October in order to protest against the price increase and hopes to force energy suppliers to reduce their bills.

India: Stones thrown at procession of Hindus through Muslim-majority area in Vadodara, 13 arrested

On Monday, August 29, an incident of stone-pelting was reported from the Panigate Darwaza neighbourhood in the Mandvi locality of Vadodara in Gujarat. The incident occurred when, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, a procession carrying an idol of Lord Ganesh was passing through the Muslim majority area.

Speaking to the media, Joint Commissioner of Police Chirag Koradia that the situation is under control, and the crime branch is looking into the matter. The officer urged people not to fall for any rumours because the situation in the area was peaceful.

According to reports, members of two communities pelted each other with stones after an argument broke out between them over some issue when the Ganesh procession was passing through Panigate Darwaza in the communally sensitive Mandvi locality.

The police have detained as many as 13 people in connection with the incident which broke out late Monday night, they said, adding that no one was injured in the stone pelting. An FIR was registered under various Indian Penal Code Sections including 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 336 (rash act endangering human life or personal safety) and 295 (defiling place of worship), the official said.

Meanwhile, a video of the incident has also emerged on social media, wherein people can be seen pelting stones as the tempo carrying the Lord Ganesh idol passes the area. the police are seen using mild lathi charge to disperse the mob.

Vadodara’s Deputy Commissioner Panna Momaya told the media, “A Ganesh procession was passing through Panigate area on Monday night when an internal fight broke out resulting in stone pelting. Unfortunately, one of the stones hit a window of a religious place breaking it, sparking speculation about members of the minority being attacked. This was retaliated, leading to a clash between the two groups.”

According to Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, Deputy Commissioner (Crime Branch), as soon as the city control room received a call about the incident, police forces from all nearby police stations rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.

Following the incident, security has been stepped up in the region.

Violent attacks during Hindu festivals have become the new norm in recent years. Many incidents of stone-pelting, arson, and vandalism during the celebration of Hindu festivals have been reported in recent years, and each year the intensity has only increased.

This year, like other previous years, has been no exception. Whether it’s a Hindu religious procession for Hanuman Jayanti, Ram Navami, or Saraswati Puja, Islamists haven’t missed an opportunity to wreak havoc. Though the list is endless, OpIndia in April this year tried to chronicle a few of the wanton attacks against Hindu religious festivals.

Berlin court confirms expulsion of Islamic State offender

The Administrative Court of Berlin has declared the expulsion of a convicted man to be lawful. The judges thus confirmed a decision by the foreigners authority, as a court spokesperson announced on Tuesday. The lawsuit was brought by a man who was sentenced to several years’ imprisonment by the Berlin Court of Appeal in June 2021 for a war crime, accessory to murder and membership of a terrorist organisation. He is due to be released from prison next year. The judges ruled that the young man continues to pose a danger to the state. The judgement is not yet final ( Case No. VG 13 K 41.19).

In the view of the Administrative Court, the fact that the plaintiff had not shown any radical Islamist tendencies recently did not change the assessment of his dangerousness. At that time, the Court of Appeal had found that the plaintiff had committed further serious violent offences, intimidated witnesses and disseminated the video sequence of an execution even after his arrival in the Federal territory.

The young man had been on trial with his father for war crimes in their homeland for around two and a half years. In the summer of 2021, the two were convicted. A life sentence was imposed on the then 45-year-old. The son, who was 22 at the time, was sentenced to five years and ten months in juvenile detention. The verdict is not yet final, but the young man is still in custody.

According to the court’s findings, the men joined the terrorist organisation Islamic State (IS) in their hometown Mosul in 2014 and took part in the public execution of a prisoner held by IS in October 2014. The son, who was a teenager at the time, allegedly spat at and insulted the prisoner on camera in a propaganda-like manner. The father, together with other IS members, brought the man to the execution site and guarded him until the victim was shot by another IS member.

‘Erasing the L’: Woke Cops Remove Trans-Critical Lesbians From LGBTQ+ Pride Parade

Police removed a group of lesbians from the Cardiff Pride parade for allegedly sparking a “confrontation” with pro-transgederism members of the march.

In viral footage posted on social media, police in Cardiff, Wales were seen demanding that members of the lesbian group “Get the L Out UK” leave the Pride parade on Saturday. The group claims that “transactivism erases lesbians, and silences and demonises lesbians who dare to speak out.”

“At the moment, your march, this group of people is causing confrontation between different groups of people,” an officer is heard saying, to which a woman replied: “We’re lesbians, it’s Cardiff pride”.

“Whatever you are… at the moment, is causing confrontation. To make sure you’re safe, we are going to remove you from the road,” the officer retorted.

“I want to make sure that I understand that you’re removing lesbians from an LGBT march,” a woman questioned.

“Yes, that is what’s happening.. for safety, for your safety… for other people’s safety — that’s why I’m doing it… We can have further conversations about reasons why, at the side of the road, because otherwise, you are going to be removed from the road,” the officer said.

The organisers of the parade, Pride Cymru, later claimed that the lesbian organisation ‘interrupted’ the march as they were not officially registered to attend the LGBTQ+ event.

The footage has since sparked controversy, with GB News host Andrew Doyle, who is gay, saying: “The police removing lesbians from a pride parade. The pride movement no longer supports gay people.”

Tennis legend and open lesbian, Martina Navratilova added: “This shows just how ridiculous and sideways things are going in our LGBT community. Erasing the L…Wow…misogyny is alive and well.”

Feminist writer Julie Bindel said: “When I came out as a lesbian in the 1970s it was pretty tough. The misogyny was off the scale, and men would shout at us about how all we needed was a good f**k. Police were rarely sympathetic when we were victims of bigotry and abuse. Thank god those days are over. Oh, wait….”

The star of Breitbart-distributed upcoming film My Son Hunter, Laurence Fox mused: “Anyone still in any doubt that #PRIDE has anything whatsoever to do with Gay and Lesbian people? The woke virus feeds on minority groups as cover for its insidious, nasty and divisive political agenda. It didn’t work with Build Large Mansions. It won’t work with this either.”

Police forces in the UK have come under increasing criticism over their apparently political involvement with Pride events, a decision some have chosen to contrast with the growing number of everyday crimes going unsolved. At both the London and Brightonparades this year, police officers were seen decked out in rainbow colours and went to pose for pictures with attendees. Just last week, officers in Lincoln were lambasted for using their time to do the Macarena dance with Pride goers.
