New report: Sweden worst in Europe with gang shootings

A new report from the Swedish Crime Prevention Council (BRÅ) shows that lethal firearm violence has increased sharply in Sweden since the mid-2000s, and is now the worst of the 22 countries studied in Europe. In many European countries, on the contrary, lethal violence is declining, both in general and terms of firearms.

The increase in fatal shootings in Sweden is exceptional, and is driven almost entirely by gun violence in a criminal environment where the victims are aged 20-29. “It is about a wrecked and failed immigration policy and a simple-minded integration policy,” said Jimmie Åkesson, leader of the Sweden Democrats.

The purpose of the study, which was presented on May 26, was to map levels and trends in lethal violence using different methods of violence, with a special focus on firearms. That it has increased has long been known to BRÅ, but this time the task from the government was to compare Sweden with other countries in Europe. With the help of mainly Eurostat and WHO, BRÅ has collected information on lethal violence from 22 countries.

Hammarkullen, Gothenburg, is one of Sweden’s 22 “particularly vulnerable areas”. In similar suburbs, where the vast majority have a foreign background, there is the criminal environment where 80 percent of all fatal shootings in Sweden take place. The police classify a total of 60 areas as either “risk area”, “vulnerable area” or “particularly vulnerable area”.

From mainly the left, criticism has been voiced that not all of Europe’s countries are included, which would present Sweden in a better light, but to Swedish weekly Nya Tider, the report’s author Klara Hradilova-Selin clarified their selection: “I do not know what they base it on. We have not included different countries to achieve a certain result in any way. The most comparable countries were chosen. It is the rest of the Nordic region in particular, and it is Western Europe that is most similar to Sweden.”

Gang shootings account for almost the entire increase

The results show that the development in Sweden in different ways differs from what it looks like in the countries studied. The general level of lethal violence has decreased in almost all countries studied during the period after the turn of the millennium, and it has decreased sharply in the countries that were previously at a relatively high level. Until a few years ago, Sweden was at a relatively low level, but the level has since risen and is now higher than in many other countries. On average, 8 people per million inhabitants fell victim to lethal violence in 2017 in the countries studied, while the Swedish figure was 11. It has continued to rise and by 2020 it had reached 12.

The increase in Sweden is primarily driven by lethal violence with firearms, a category in which our country is now very high. In Sweden, there are about 4 shot dead per million inhabitants, while the European average is 1.6. BRÅ states that no other country shows increases that are comparable to Sweden’s, and in most countries the numbers have decreased.

Sweden also stands out through the proportion of fatal shootings that can be linked to a criminal environment, with eight out of ten. In the Netherlands, for example, the proportion is 6 out of 10, while in Finland it is very rare. Sweden was also at a relatively low level during the 2000s, with 3-5 out of 10, and during the 1990s with 2 out of 10. Sweden’s exceptional increase is driven almost entirely by gun violence in a criminal environment where the victims are aged 20- 29 years, in what is usually called “gang shootings”.

The criminologist and former police officer Fredrik Kärrholm commented on the situation on 5 June in the Sweden Democratic channel Riks: “The situation in Sweden with young men who kill each other is unparalleled both in comparable countries and in our own history. In no other country in the EU have so many young men been shot dead in recent years.”

Kärrholm believes that the situation, if compared to the 1950s or Sweden’s neighbouring countries today, is extreme. He points out that gang violence consists of much more than shootings: “The firearms violence and the bombings are, however, only the ultimate form of a more extensive gangster violence. These include extortion, aggravated theft, robbery, kidnapping, drug crime and much more. And this broad criminal problem is also characterized by crudeness. It is not just about the number of crimes, but also the nature of the crime.

BRÅ sees no clear explanation for Sweden’s special position

BRÅ’s assignment did not include investigating the reasons for the increase, or why it looks like this in Sweden in particular, but refers to research that identifies a number of “risk factors that can cause sudden increases in fatal violence”. In the press release where the report was presented, Klara Hradilova-Selin explained: “It is, for example, about illegal drug markets, criminal gangs or low trust in the police in certain areas. But such risk factors also exist in some other European countries, without these countries having the same development of lethal firearm violence as we have had in Sweden.”

The report itself discusses the issue under the heading “What could it be due to?”. Access to illegal firearms is mentioned, as are socio-economic factors, but no answer is given as to why Sweden’s development differs so much from other countries. The fatal shootings are often linked to drug trafficking, but Sweden does not stand out in a European context.

Most Swedes however are not as perplexed by the increase in violence, which they believe is entirely related to asylum immigration, and the increase in the number of people with a non-European background. Since 1980, Sweden has granted residence permits to almost one million asylum seekers and their relatives.

Of the one million arrivals, 600 000 came in the last 20 years, and in the last 10 years alone, the influx of asylum seekers and relatives has amounted to 400 000 people. They often come from countries where problems are solved with violence. At the same time, it is a fact that the group responsible for the vast majority of fatal shootings are young men in criminal networks in “areas of exclusion” and almost exclusively of people with a foreign background.

Even if BRÅ’s report also touches on immigration and ethnicity, no real conclusion is reached: “People with a foreign background are overrepresented among perpetrators of lethal violence in (among other things) Sweden (Lehti et al. 2019). At the same time, different studies draw different conclusions about the significance of ethnicity or migration for lethal violence, often depending on what other circumstances are included in the analysis. Some studies find that ethnic diversity can increase the risk of fatal violence (see the meta-study of Nivette 2011).

“Others nuance this conclusion; Chon (2011), for example, has found that ethnic and linguistic – but not religious – diversity contributes to higher levels of lethal violence. Analyzes by Soysa and Noel (2018) show that it is polarization rather than ethnic diversity that increases the risk.”

Sweden Democrats challenge the response on the findings

Jimmie Åkesson challenged the Minister of the Interior Mikael Damberg on SVT Aktuellt on 26 May: “You have been giving money to vulnerable areas, to vulnerable schools and to social services for decades and nothing has helped. Everyone knows that it is not about Kalle, Pelle and Svenne who have slipped up and who need help from the social services.”

He continued: “It is about a wrecked and failed immigration policy and a simple-minded integration policy. It is not only the fault of this government, but Reinfeldt as prime minister was at least as guilty. Then efforts are also needed when it comes to petty crimes. Society must already show young children and younger teenagers that it does not pay to commit crime by being punished. No government has wanted to do anything about it.”

Greek police: Four Middle Eastern migrants kidnapped and gang-raped a 25-year-old Greek pregnant women

Myrto Papadomichelaki was only 17 when she was raped and left in a coma by a Pakistani migrant in 2012 in a case that sparked a backlash to illegal immigration in Greece.

Greek police have launched a manhunt after four Middle Eastern migrants, one from Afghanistan and three from Pakistan, who are accused of abducting and gang-raping a 25-year-old Greek woman who is three months pregnant.

While the young woman had been walking towards the Omonia neighborhood in Athens where she had planned to have her mobile telephone fixed, she was violently accosted by an Afghan man who forced her into a secluded, darkened area before raping her. As she was being sexually assaulted, the expectant mother cried out to three Pakistani passersby to help her. However, instead of coming to her assistance, the men called a taxi, transported her to an underground apartment nearby, and gang-raped her, Greek newspaper Proto Thema reports.

Three of the Pakistani migrants, aged 19, 21, and 27, have been apprehended by Greek police, but the fourth Afghan suspect remains at large.

As the gang-rape took place, neighbors from the adjacent apartments heard the girl’s frantic screams and went to their balconies to investigate who was crying for help. Fearing that they would be apprehended by the concerned neighbors and the police, the alleged rapists decided to let the victim leave the apartment.

After escaping the apartment, the young female immediately went to the St. Panteleimon Department, reported the crime, and pointed out the apartment where she was allegedly raped by the foreigners. Within hours, three of the four perpetrators were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit rape. The fourth Afghan suspect, however, remains at large and is wanted by Greek authorities.

Crime scene investigators have gathered DNA evidence from the victim’s clothing with the hope that it will lead them to the fourth suspect, as well as prove the guilt of the three Pakistani men.

Last month, Greek police arrested a 34-year-old Pakistani in an Athens suburb for attacking and attempting to rape underage girls and a 22-year-old. Police managed to track down the attacker after the 22-year-old victim recorded a video of him and uploaded it to social media. The man stands accused of attempted rape, insult of sexual dignity, indecency, and minor bodily harm and violence.

In March, another Pakistani man was arrested on the Greek island of Crete on suspicion of assaulting and attempting to rape a local woman. The victim told police that the man approached, threatened her with a knife, and beat her up while attempting to rape her. The man is also believed to have sexually harassed five other women.

In December of last year, a Pakistani migrant appeared in court for raping an 8-year-old boy and attempted rape of two other women.

In 2014, a Greek court sentenced Ahmed Waqas, an illegal immigrant from Pakistan, to life in prison after finding him guilty of brutally beating and raping 15-year-old Myrto Papadomichelaki on the island of Paros in 2012. Following the attack, the teenage victim was found unconscious with a severe head injury which resulted in permanent brain damage. During court proceedings, Waqas admitted to bashing the teenage girl’s head with a stone and hiding her behind a pile of rocks at the popular Paros beach, where the mother and daughter had been vacationing. The mother of the victim told the court that her daughter was so badly disfigured by the attack that she could barely recognize her at the hospital. The case prompted Greek authorities to crack down on illegal immigrants in Athens, with police carrying out 7,000 arrests in a three-day period.

The issue of sexual assault and migrants remains a sensitive one, with those with a foreign background disproportionately represented in sexual assault statistics, including in ItalyFranceGermany, and Sweden

WEF: ‘Bye bye baby’

The World Economic Forum (WEF) published an article on June 15 with the headline “Bye, bye, baby.” It picks up on a topic that the IMF is also happy to address: Depopulation.

The WEF points out that birth rates have already fallen sharply in many countries. A decline in fertility due to the pandemic is suppressing population growth in many developed nations. Already, in developed nations, the birthrate of women over 40 has surpassed the rate of women aged 20 and younger.

“Fewer people are good for the climate,” the WEF underscored towards the end of the blog entry. In another report from July 17, 2020, the World Economic Forum referred to a study that predicted that 23 countries expected their population to halve by 2100.

The Brookings Institute has estimated that 300 000 babies were not born in the US as a result of economic insecurity related to the pandemic. Also life expectancy in the United States has declined by a full year due to deaths. For racial minorities it is even lower: African American life expectancy has shaved off by two years and Latino life expectancy three years.

In 2020, Australia recorded its first population decline since World War I, due to stricter anti-Covid border measures. Canada granted permanent-resident status to only 180 000 applicants in 2020, far short of the target of 381 000.

The WEF has argued that the success of economies around the globe will increasingly depend on migration and open borders. This century has seen the largest migration in human history. In 1960, one-third of humanity lived in a city, but today, it’s almost 60 percent. And because urbanization has contributed to population decline, the WEF has been promoting open borders.

Refugee from Bangladesh complains in BILD newspaper: “Even when a knife-wielding terrorist murders three women shouting “Allahu akbar”, the German government refuses to speak of Islamism”

In Germany, the problem of Islamism is tabooed and hushed up. This is what Shammi Haque, who fled from Islamists in Bangladesh to Germany, writes today in a commentary for the BILD newspaper. Haque comes from Bangladesh and has witnessed how any criticism of the government there was suppressed. In Germany, on the other hand, anyone who criticises radical Islam is defamed as a racist and agitator. “Even when a knife-wielding terrorist murders three women shouting “Allahu akbar”, the federal government refuses to speak of Islamism,” writes the refugee, who is angry that this radical ideology is far too often a taboo subject in Germany. “I expect the federal government to protect me from this.”

Austria: Afghan murderer of 13-year-old Leonie should have been deported long ago

Sadness and head-shaking in the criminal case of Leonie (13 years old): It has now become known that the two suspects – who will be questioned today, Tuesday – are two asylum seekers from Afghanistan who are known to the police. One of the two is said to have a criminal record for drugs and violence. His application for asylum is pending with the judiciary. The two Afghans will therefore only be questioned today, after the officers of the task force to fight street crime have sifted through the evidence. Justice Minister Zadic (Greens) has not yet made a statement on the case – but it is certain that the minister will have to be accountable for it.

It is not yet clear whether Leonie had known the two men. “That is still being investigated,” said police spokeswoman Barbara Gass. It is also still open whether there are indications of a sexual offence. The suspects have not yet been questioned about the crime. “They will be questioned on Tuesday,” said Gass.

Witnesses found Leonie’s body leaning against a tree on a grassy area between the roadways on Saturday morning, with numerous haematomas, including in the neck area. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. The young victim was identified by her parents on Sunday.

Initially, the identity of the deceased was unclear, and no missing persons records matched the victim. After the police published a description of the person including the clothes of the dead girl on Sunday, the parents reported to a police station in Lower Austria and identified the victim as their daughter. The girl had also lived in Lower Austria. How and why the child had come to Vienna at the weekend is now the subject of investigation.

Fears that the Muslim Brotherhood plans to build a large mosque in Bochum, Germany

Is the “Islamic Cultural Association Bochum” (IKV) close to the extremist Muslim Brotherhood?

At least that is what the current report of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution of North Rhine-Westphalia suggests. Among other things, the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood aims to infiltrate the state and establish Sharia law.

That is why Bochum’s politicians are now alarmed. Because: The IKV is planning to build the “Green Mosque” on 13,700 square metres on the Constantin Colliery site. The council factions have now suspended further support for the IKV by the city of Bochum.

“All doubts must be cleared up,” says the head of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) parliamentary group, Burkart Jentsch, when asked by the newspaper BILD. The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) also does not consider the conditions for supporting the project to be met “because of the insufficient clarification”.

The association rejects this, “expressly distances itself from any extremism” and wants to promote the ” prevention of any extremist influences and tendencies”.

The parliamentary group leader of the Greens, Barbara Jessel, doubts this: “The newly elected board of the association has obviously not succeeded in distancing itself from Islamist forces”.

By the way, the IKV is busy soliciting donations for the mosque project on the internet. The donations account is at the Savings Bank in Bochum. The BILD enquiry as to whether the Savings Bank intends to draw conclusions from the report on the protection of the constitution remained unanswered until yesterday evening.

Pro-Palestinian Jew-Hate in Europe – A continent lacks the courage to take a stand

Violent anti-Semitic eruptions in Europe following the outburst of hostilities between the Gaza-based Hamas terrorists and Israel have become common and repeated occurrences. The European governments have done little to prevent the largely Muslim and some local anti-Semites from initiating violence against European Jews. It is particularly true of the German government and its leader, Angela Merkel. Chancellor Merkel invited over a million migrants into Germany, mostly Muslims from the Middle East and Africa. Their inculcated hatred for Israel and Jews has resulted in the desecration of Jewish cemeteries, Holocaust memorials, and attacks on synagogues. To assuage Jewish concerns, Merkel and the German government pay lip-service to the unacceptability of anti-Semitism in Germany due to Germany’s role in perpetrating the Holocaust in which Six Million Jews were murdered by Nazi Germany. In reality, few of the perpetrators are punished, and certainly not with long prison terms or deportation.

The New York Times reported (May 19, 2021) that rocks were thrown at doors of a Synagogue in Bonn. Israeli flags were burned outside a synagogue in Munster. Pro-Palestinian rallies took place in Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, and Leipzig. “In Germany, where historical memory runs especially deep because of the Holocaust, pro-Palestinian rallies have been held in cities across the west of the country and in the capital, Berlin. Several have descended into violence, including anti-Semitic chants, calls for violence against Israel, desecration of memorials to Holocaust victims, and attacks on at least two synagogues.”

The German Interior Minister Horst Seehoffer threatened to crackdown on anti-Semitism at pro-Palestinian protests. He stated, “We will not tolerate the burning of Israeli flags on German soil and attacks on Jewish facilities.” He added, “Anyone who spreads anti-Semitic hatred will feel the full force of the law.” We have heard these immaterialized threats before, but then, political correctness appears to cause German officials to fold rather than deal forcibly with violent Muslims, many of them new migrants. European White Guilt, particularly toward Third World people, accompanied by the loss of national pride, and the will to defend its own traditional values, is allowing a violent minority to perpetuate anti-Semitic violence.

Disallowing anti-Semitic rallies, especially in Germany, isn’t only a matter of decency and morality, considering what preceded the latest Guardian of the Walls operation. The unprovoked Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) massive rocket attacks on Israel’s capital, and civilian population centers in the south and center of Israel, should be reason enough for Germany (and other European governments) to aggressively prevent these hate-filled riots.  Moreover, the Israeli government was trying hard to reach an agreement with Hamas, whereby Israel would advance humanitarian gestures to Gaza in exchange for calm. The German nation, more than any other, should consider the fact that Hamas and the PIJ have committed themselves to the destruction of the Jewish state, just as Hitler committed Germany to the destruction of the European Jewry. And yet, Merkel’s Germany is doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has declared its intention to “wipe Israel off the map.” German fear to alienate Muslim anti-Semites has found recourse in blaming native German right-wingers for most of the hatred and anti-Semitism in Germany rather than the radical Muslims.

The Central Council of Jews in Germany tweeted a video showing Muslim protesters in Gelsenkirchen, (western Germany), waving Palestinian and Turkish flags. The Council pointed out that, “The time in which Jews were cursed in the middle of the street should have long been over.” Adding, “This is pure anti-Semitism!” Felix Klein, the German government’s commissioner on anti-Semitism told Deutsche Welle (DW) that, “It’s appalling to see that kind of hatred expressed toward German Jews and synagogues here in Germany.”

Turkey’s dictator and major anti-Semite, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, never misses an opportunity during a crisis to do his best to raise the flames of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish hatred. His distortions and lies about the events that took place in last month’s violence between Hamas and Israel are libelous and downright evil.  Erdogan knows that Israel was savagely attacked by Hamas, and had the right to defend itself. This modern-day Haman, in seeking the role of the “Sultan of the Sunni-Muslim world,” is using Israel and Jews as the common target for hatred. He is inciting Muslims worldwide to join together to fight Israel. In the meantime, Turkish Muslim acolytes in Germany have used his lies to perpetrate violence in German cities along with their Palestinian co-religionists. Erdogan accused Israel of terrorism against the Palestinians, and qualified that “it is in their nature.” He went on further, saying, “They are murderers, to the point that they kill children who are five or six years old. They only are satisfied by sucking their blood.”

The US State Department condemned Erdogan’s anti-Semitic attack on the Jewish people and Israel. Ned Price, the State Department spokesperson delivered a message on behalf of the US government. He said, “Anti-Semitic language has no place anywhere…The US is deeply committed to combating anti-Semitism in all its forms. We take seriously the violence that often accompanies anti-Semitism and the dangerous lies that undergird it. We must always counter lies with facts and answer crimes with justice.” Erdogan was essentially inferring that Jews were baby killers, the old canard that hunkered back to the medieval European blood libel that accused Jews of murdering Christian children and using their blood in the Passover rituals.

While Germany’s crimes against the Jewish people cannot be forgotten, and the repeated anti-Semitic incidents there in recent times are more pronounced because of the Holocaust, Germany is not the only country in Europe experiencing anti-Semitism. Various manifestations of anti-Semitism have taken place throughout Western Europe. In Austria, a student was harassed on a train while reading a book with a Jewish title. A nurse in a London hospital, wearing a Star of David necklace, was threatened with violence. In Belgium, an orthodox Jewish woman sitting on a bench was told “get away, dirty Jewess.” A Jewish man in London was assaulted in his car because he had an Israeli flag. These incidents were followed by an assault on a rabbi outside his synagogue in Chigwell, a town outside London. On the same day, a convoy of eight cars displaying Palestinian flags drove through London’s northern suburbs, where many Jews live, yelling anti-Semitic obscenities on loudspeakers. It included such hurtful slurs as “F— the Jews, and rape their daughters…”

The cumulative impact of anti-Semitism is forcing European Jews to consider leaving the continent. Many have already left for Israel, the US, and Canada. Joel Rubinfeld, President of the Belgian League against anti-Semitism questioned his ability to stay in Belgium with his wife and young children. Brigitte Wielheesen, a well-known Dutch journalist, and counter-terrorism expert, wrote that after years of battling anti-Semitism, she has concluded that the activity has become useless.

German and European governments in general, lack the will, and courage to confront these Third World Muslim anti-Semites, whether legal residents or recent migrants. With Jews being a fraction of the Muslim population in Europe, the latter have gained considerable electoral power. Jews though, are the ‘Canary in the Mine.’ What starts with Jews will ultimately impact everyone.  If Europe cannot deal effectively with those who seek to undermine its values, it won’t survive as Europe.

Vienna: 13-year-old Leonie murdered by two Afghan asylum seekers

As “Heute.at” already reported, passers-by discovered a lifeless 13-year-old girl in the street Erzherzog-Karl-Straße in the Vienna district of Donaustadt on June 26. All attempts to resuscitate the girl were unsuccessful.

In the course of the police investigation, it was determined that the possibility of third-party responsibility could not be ruled out. The post-mortem examination revealed death by suffocation. The victim also showed numerous haematomas and bruises. Since then, the Vienna State Criminal Police Office has been investigating at full speed.

Witness statements led to the arrest of two suspects. In the afternoon hours, the Vienna Provincial Criminal Police Office, in cooperation with officers of the task force for combating street crime, were able to provisionally arrest two male suspects.

According to the police, the suspects were two young men from Afghanistan aged 16 and 18. The suspects will be questioned on Tuesday.

The 13-year-old attended a secondary school in the Tulln area, attended grade 2. “She was not a model pupil, was always absent, stayed away from lessons,” said a former teacher/guardian. It is unclear how the 13-year-old was related to the two suspects.
